Steel sailingyacht Puffin 50 "De Vrijheid", built 2002, dim.: 18,35 (lwl 14,95) x 5,05 x 1,37/2,95 m, headway approx. 23,5 m, built by De Gier en Bezaan Yachtbuilders BV, The Netherlands, designed by Olivier F. van Meer, Enkhuizen, The Netherlands, teak deck, steel superstructure and hull, hardened glass windows, round-bilged hull, centre board, displacement approx. 34 ton, ballast approx. 8 ton (lead), fuel capacity approx. 2 x 580 ltr (steel tanks), water capacity approx. 2 x 625 ltr (steel tanks), sump capacity approx. 500 ltr (steel tank), hydraulic wheel steering, emergency tiller.

Accommodation

Classic mahogany and teak interior with varnished and white painted surfaces, 3 cabins, 6 fixed berths, 2 in the saloon and 1 extra childberth, forward is the owner's cabin with a large offset double berth to starboard, flanked by shelves and lockers, to port is an enclosed shower locker and an enclosed head with sink is opposite, aft is the galley to starboard with settee and entertainment area opposite, the centerboard trunk separates these areas and is incorporated into the galley, next aft are two double staterooms; one port, one starboard, the port stateroom has an ensuite head with shower, the salon is next aft with a wonderful C-shaped settee to port and nav area to starboard, the nav station has a quarter berth aft, the big settee has a drop-down table that converts to a double berth, the main companionway is to starboard, there is a second companionway that opens up to port, opening the salon to the cockpit area, egineroom access is under the salon sole, headway approx. 1,90 m, 2 x manual toilet, 2 x shower, 1 x Dickinson diesel heating, airco in 3 cabins plus in the salon, Force 10 4-burner stove with oven and grill, microwave on 220V, electric and manual (foot) waterpressure system, 60 ltr boiler on 220V and motor, gasdetector, refrigerator 220V, deep-freezer 220V, extractor, dishwasher, washingmachine, crockery.

Puffin 50 ‘Jaleo’ set sail to the Mediterranean

After a building period of exactly 1 year we delivered Puffin 50 ‘Jaleo’ to its new captain. She will set sail for a trip along the Iberian coasts and Balearian Islands with her owner during the coming weeks. In September she will arrive in her homeport Palma de Mallorca.

We as VMG Yachtbuilders are very proud of the result of this beautiful Puffin 50. Not only because of the result, but even more because of the cooperation between client, designer and ourselves. We sincerely thank the owner of the ‘Jaleo’ and Olivier van Meer Naval Architects.

Before the building of a Puffin starts, all wishes and special requirements are incorporated in the design and engineering works. At the same time, we update the building information with all latest improvements and results of earlier experiences. Again, for this owner, the yard and design team have been able to deliver the unmistakable Puffin signature, delivered as a tailor-made suit. With a lot of fun with the owner we have created her personal interior styling and some other special features. With an impressive building management and still being flexible to owner and designer I am impressed by VMG Yachtbuilders who proved to deliver this Puffin 2.0 in a high quality within budget and perfectly on time”.
