Echoing other comments about this club. Belita was very helpful and welcoming. She even lent us her car to provision. Everything you need is just a short car ride away. Nice clean bathrooms, free ice and laundry. What more do you need?

Love this marina! We came thru in May and could not get into Rock Harbor due to depth. Called Commodore and Belida the manager assured us we could get in there it was a bit shallow but but we got in and there were many people helping us dock. We kept our boat there for a week. Great location excellent services. Kudos to Commodore see you again soon Anthony&Julie.

BBQ on site. Full kitchen and great for families and visitors. Watch water level for coming in. Jim, harbor master will help. Free laundry. Very helpful owners and Staff. Would come back.

Some transient slips. Call for a reservation. Fuel, individual washrooms and showers, free laundry and ice. Boaters lounge on site with full kitchen, BBQ, fuel and pump-out.  Nothing within walking distance but a shorter Uber ($8) ride to Walmart, Costco and all other provision stops than any other dock in Nashville. Very quiet but very welcoming and helpful slip owners. Manager on site. Everything is clean and tidy. Easy dog walking.

We, too, found good water levels, helpful and friendly staff. Free washer and dryer and very clean restrooms. It is very close to downtown, my only issue is that there is nothing really close enough to walk to and the roads are narrow with small shoulders so walking is risky. Ubered into the city (15-20 minute trip) and had a blast! I loved that you felt tucked away from everything, saw deer and other wildlife. Boat US discount on fuel and the slip fees.

A bit below normal pool we saw 7-8 ft a bit in from the entrance, gradually moving to 8-10. Good pump out, quick and convenient. Tied on one of the T-heads, used a reverse Y to get 50 amp power. Very quiet, clean bathrooms, great staff.

Thoroughly enjoyed this quiet club. Fuel, pump out, free laundry, clean shower/bath, free ice. Good security. Friendly, welcoming.

This marina as the name indicates is a club. Even as a transient they treat you as if you were an active member here. It's remarkably clean, quiet and secure. Don't let the narrow inlet prevent you from going in as it soon widens. I highly recommend it for a marina to unwind while traveling.

Profile: Commodore Yacht Club

The fire, which began after a houseboat’s engine exploded, took 90 minutes for local firemen to bring under control. Two people were injured and one dog died as a result of the blaze. Forty-five houseboats and yachts worth approximately $2 million were destroyed.

In the four decades since the fire, the club has been rebuilt, survived the Nashville flood of 2010, and has continued to thrive as one of Middle Tennessee’s best-kept-secret marinas off the Cumberland River.

The club, while private and small, boasts 80 slips in an intimate setting compared to nearby larger marinas. As a member of the BoatUS Cooperating Marina Program, Commodore offers both fuel and transient dockage discounts to BoatUS members. It is roughly 18.6 river miles from River Front Park at the foot of Broadway and the heart of downtown Nashville.

At the park, boaters can tie up and walk to hundreds of Nashville’s hottest restaurants, honky tonks, shopping and entertainment venues. Catch a Predators’ hockey game or a Titans’ football game, too. For those who want to safely sample the city’s libations without driving their boat back to the marina, Commodore is a short, 10-mile Uber ride from downtown.

When not touring Nashville or the nearby locks and dams, there’s plenty to do at the club. Commodore regularly hosts potlucks, fish fries and holiday feasts. There’s also nearby fishing and plenty of music and dancing dockside.

Getting There Getting to Commodore Yacht Club by boat is rather simple. The club, located at Mile 172.4 on the Cumberland River, is about 24 river miles from the Cheatham Lock and Dam at Mile 148.7 and 44 miles from Old Hickory Lock and Dam.

By car, club visitors would exit I-40 at Charlotte Pike at either 201A or 201B, depending on the direction of travel. Once you have exited, go west on Charlotte Pike and bear a right onto River Road in about a half-mile.

Commodore Yacht Club a Best Kept Secret on the Cumberland River

The Commodore Yacht Club is located on the famed and scenic Cumberland River in a quiet, West Nashville neighborhood. Formerly a private club, this marina is now open to transients in the Heartland looking for a great stop in Middle Tennessee. Those of you who prefer the Cumberland over the Tennessee River on the inland pass of the Great Loop should consider the Commodore Yacht Club for its location near Nashville, and its critical amenities onsite.

This marina offers its guests all the necessary amenities when cruising, including shower facilities, laundry and a nice picnic area. Boaters will have access to nearby restaurants and, of course, all that Nashville, Tennessee has to offer. From the marina, boaters can take the short cruise downtown for the excitement of Tennessee Titans NFL games, Music City's nightlife or Nashville Predator hockey games. Commodore Yacht Club is also known for its strong community-vibe, so don't be surprised if there's a party on the docks!

Most importantly for Loopers, this marina has pumpout service, gas and diesel - so be sure to pump out and fuel up before continuing your journey!

Overall rating

Although we don't rent a boat slip, we have been able to attend several parties/gatherings at the Commodore Yacht Club because our friends rent a boat slip. It's always well maintained and clean. Plenty of space with lots of tables and chairs inside and out. They offer a full kitchen with a double oven and a full bathroom. We have been privileged to help with the preparations for graduation parties, wedding showers and many other gatherings and have never had any issues. Because those who have boat slips have free range of the clubhouse, they may occasionally pop in which would have to be the only negative I could give.

I have been a member here for 6 years and I can tell you the first 4 and a half were the best. Now the marina has gone down hill in a big way since a new manager has taken over. The obvious is that there is now so many boats on the lake looking for slips that the marina doesn't care about their existing tenants. They will now charge you for electric bills that are completely out of line with absolutely no back up what so ever. Like if you only go there on weekends you could pay up to and above $400 to $600 a month. If you can find another marina or if you don't need electric would be the best option. In addition the upkeep of the docks is atrocious.
