Hurricane Lenny reaches maximum strength on November 17, 1999, in the Leeward Islands, and goes head-to-head with three boats: Carl Wake, skipper of La Vie en Rose, was heading southeast down Anegada Passage, between the Virgin Islands and St. Martin. Captain Guillaume Llobregat and Jacques Santos, aboard Frederic-Anne, had steered southwest away from St. Martin, then tacked back toward the island. Steve Rigby, aboard English Braids about 40 miles southeast of Tortola, B.V.I., was informed by a passing cruise ship that the weather was worsening and that Lenny was headed his way, but he declined to abandon ship.

The confusion over just where Lenny was heading next apparently caused Carl Wake to choose a tactic that would prove to be a tragic mistake. Northern Hemisphere sailors are taught very clear rules about hurricanes: Draw a circle representing the eye of the cyclone; then draw a line through the circle along the storm's track. The winds to the right of the line are the strongest and most dangerous because they include the hurricane's forward speed; these winds make this side of the line into the "dangerous semicircle." The winds on the left side of the line, the so-called "navigable semicircle," won't be as strong and will allow a ship to sail away from the storm.

Carl, on board La Vie en Rose, a 41-foot double-headsail sloop designed by Angelo Lavranos, was heading straight for the dangerous semicircle. While Lenny passed south of Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands, its full impact would make life hellish for three disparate sailboats and their brave crews.

ROSELINE –  Côtes de Provence Roseline prestige rosé 2017 Cinsault, Grenache, Syrah A lively and intense rosé with a freshness associated with the vineyards of Provence, the flavour on the palate is lengthy and extremely pleasant.

DOMAINE DE LA MORDORÉE –  Tavel  The rosewood queen 2017 Grenache 60%, Clairette 15%, Syrah 10%, Cinsault 15%, Bourboulenc 5% This rosé has a strong and intense colour, accompanied by complex floral aromas of white and red flowers and fruits, as well as minty notes, making its finish airy and light.

CHTEAU PILLOW –  Côtes de Provence Sainte Victoire César with Sumeire rosé 2017 Grenache 60%, Syrah 40% With a pale pink colour and a delicate flavour of citrusy grapefruit and pineapple, this rosé is underpinned by floral notes of carnation and hawthorn.

Every year we pick up some highly enthusiastic recommendations from interior crew for flowers supplied by La Vie en Rose. For years, this very popular florist has provided spectacular flower arrangements to all the major hotels, villas, restaurants and Superyachts in St.Barth’s. They always have a very large choice of fresh tropical or continental flowers, along with beautiful orchids. Manager Marie Jo is masterly assisted by Aurelie, and combining their talents, they create some really wonderful arrangements, carefully following their clients instructions and desires; and they can also make arrangements from stunningly realistic everlasting silk flowers. La Vie is built with a steel hull and aluminium superstructure, with teak decks. La Vie features at-anchor stabilizers providing exceptional comfort levels. She was built to RINA (Registro Italiano Navale) classification society rules.

The  La Vie en Rose  was a class of space dock ship created by Anaheim Electronics. The large ship functioned as a dry dock for spaceship maintenance and also featured a mobile suit production factory. Throughout its service history, the lead ship provided support services for both the Earth Federation Forces and the AEUG. In UC 0083, Anaheim personnel conducted tests on the  RX-78GP03S Gundam GP03S Dendrobium Stamen  and its support unit  RX-78GP03 Gundam GP03 Dendrobium Orchis , which were both part of the EFF’s secret Gundam Development Project. After the Delaz Fleet initiated Operation Stardust with a plan to drop space colonies on Earth, the assault carrier Albion  stole the GP03 to combat the Zeon remnants. Starting in UC 0087, the ship provided maintenance support to the AEUG during the Gryps War and First Neo Zeon War. However, in early UC 0089, the ship was heavily damaged by an attack from Ple Two’s  NZ-000 Queen Mansa . Decades later, the  La Vie en Rose IV  supported the League Militaire during the Zanscare War of UC 0153.
