KPYY is a Full Service Yacht Yard with two locations off the Piscataqua River in Southern Maine across from Portsmouth, NH. We have been providing quality service to mariners up and down the east coast for over 45 years. KPYY acquired Pattens Yacht Yard in 2007. This transaction combined the two oldest, southernmost and well respected yards in the area. Together we have combined a proud tradition of boat building, vessel refurbishement and repair. Our full time crew boasts over 250 years of collective knowledge and experience. We have dry storage capacity for up to 200 boats with a haul out capacity of up to 70 tons. Our Kittery mooring field consists of 43 deep water moorings in the most protected basin in the area.á áOur talented and experienced crew will care for your boat in the manner you expect and deserve.

Review for Safe Harbor Kittery Point

First the "marina". Kittery Yacht Yard is a new Safe Harbor acquisition. Very nice people. Easy to work with through Dockwa. Jason, Dockmaster checked in with us on way in and on day of departure. Supplied us with local information. Very few docks and only a handful of mooring balls. The Kittery YY has two facilities and specialize in repairs, refits. Clean facilities. Only one bathroom and small shower, for now. Jason says there are plans for a guest lounge with a couple showers coming soon. We stayed on a mooring ball. The current rips through the channel. The dinghy docks are full of permanent dinks so it can be hard to nudge in. Would definitely return. A reference to loaner bikes on their web sight is pre-covid and incorrect. Hopefully they will bring them back. Second, the area. Kittery/Portsmouth is a terrific stop. There are some stores and restaurants a long walk or short bike ride from the boat yard. We dinghied to Warren's Lobster House in Kittery, has a dinghy dock. No other place I could find to dock in Kittery. In Portsmouth you need to see the Strawberry Bank exhibits. Well worth a half day or more. You can dock at the north set of docks operated by the Portsmouth Harbormaster (look for "Portsmouth Love Wall" on Google Maps). We were there off season and were not charged the $4/hour fee thankfully. Call ahead. Strong currents. Town has many restaurants. But the ones on the water don't allow docking, even for dinghies.

This is the place for boat repairs. I have had my boat here twice for repairs and winterization. The second time for a major repair. Both repairs were done in a timely manner; especially the major repair. The final cost for each came in under the estimate. When issues that I could repair myself were identified there was no pressure to have the yard perform the work. The winterizing was perfect with no damage and no issues in the spring. Kittery Historical & Naval Museum

Situated at the heart of Maine’s oldest incorporated town, this treasure trove of history is a delightful introduction to the region’s rich shipbuilding heritage. The museum features an impressive collection of stories and artifacts dating back to the Colonial era and makes for a fun and fascinating mini-outing with your crew. You can find it (and plenty of parking) on the Kittery traffic circle right off of I-95.

Seapoint and Crescent Beaches

Beautifully situated on portions of Cutts Island and Gerrish island, Seaport consists of two crescent-shaped sandy beaches ideal for visiting year round. Seaport Beach is on the north side of a tiny peninsula flanked by a marsh and has a gentle surf, making it a great option for little swimmers. Crescent Beach, located on the south side, is widely considered the locals’ beach. Both spots are perfect for birdwatching, kayaking, swimming, scuba, fishing, and observing wildlife. Dog walking is also permitted during specific times of day, so be sure to check the latest local guidelines before your visit.

Fort McClary
