Our maximum passenger capacity is 12 people, excluding the captain and crew. Our passenger capacity is regulated for your safety on board. Capacities cannot be increased under any circumstances.

Are your vessels Coast Guard certified?

All of our boats are Coast Guard-certified. We maintain our fleet regularly to adhere to strict safety regulations and the latest COVID restrictions.

What should I bring with me for my Chicago yacht charter?

Soft side luggage is highly recommended, as they will easily fit inside cabin compartments. If you are a not an American national and chartering in American waters, it is essential that you bring your passport. This is a legal requirement; you will be asked to present your passport if encountered by the US Coast Guard. If you are a US national, a valid driver license or other government issued ID will be required.

• If you are booking for a single day and your reservation is confirmed more than 7 days in advance, a deposit of either $1,000 USD or 50% of the total cost of the reservation (whichever is greater) is processed immediately in order to hold the yacht. Once your embarkation date is 7 days away, the remainder of the amount due is processed.
• If you are booking for a single day and your reservation is made 7 days or less in advance, the total price of your reservation is processed immediately.
• If you are booking for a multi-day charter and your reservation is confirmed more than 30 days in advance, a deposit of 50% of the cost of the yacht is processed immediately in order to hold the yacht. Once your embarkation date is 30 days away, the other 50% is collected for the price of the yacht, plus the APA, plus the taxes due.

Terms of refunds are dictated by the Charter Agreement. Generally, once a payment is collected, it is non-refundable. In certain circumstances, as dictated by the Charter Agreement, credits can be provided so you will be able to enjoy your yacht charter at a future date that is convenient for you.

Does Boatsetter screen renters?

Yes. We use a system called Cognito to ensure that payment information matches the renter's identity. We also require renters taking out a captained boat to be at least 18 years old and on a bareboat to be at least 25 years old.

Is listing my boat on Boatsetter free?

Yes! Listing a boat is completely free. We only take a commission when your boat is rented. We only make money when you do!

What if I'm not comfortable having a renter drive my boat?

If you are not comfortable having a renter drive your boat, we have an expansive network of licensed and experienced captains. Once your boat is listed, you can filter through our network of captains and favorite captains in your area that you would like to operate your boat.

About Pinnacle Yachts

With over 350 Members and 30 yachts hailing from five Chicago marinas, Pinnacle Yachts is by far the world’s largest and most successful shared-yacht operation. The program has been entirely sold-out prior to the start of the season each-and-every year since inception in 1998. What is it about the program that makes it a such success?

Member Driven

Pinnacle Members are an engaging, educated and affluent bunch, with an average age of about 50. Many have owned a boat in the past, and do the Pinnacle program instead for convenience rather than financial reasons. They are intelligent and eager to offer insights into the program.

The program has evolved over the years, and this evolution has been driven largely by its Members who have heavily influenced the selection of yachts in the fleet, harbor locations, training curricula and scheduling software development.

Technology Enabled

Some say that Pinnacle Yachts is more of a Tech Company than a boat business. Pinnacle has invested heavily in technology with just about every aspect of the program being handled online.

Scheduling is particularly advanced, allowing the boat to be used for day sailing, weekend trips and week-long excursions while assuring fairness to all Members.

Members report maintenance items, check weather, manage their usage schedules and access other information via the user-friendly system on their computers and smart phones.

All boats in the fleet are tracked continually via satellite, monitoring critical systems and position. All this is connected to Pinnacle internal systems so that staff can manage the operation swiftly, efficiently and safely.

Safety Obsessed

Pinnacle is obsessed with safety, and views Member training and vessel maintenance as two primary safety elements. Every new Member, regardless of past boating experience, must undergo Pinnacle’s extensive on-the-water and online training, demonstrate boat handling skills, and pass a 100-question exam before taking the boat out on their own. All lessons are taught by USCG licensed Masters, many of whom have been teaching at Pinnacle for well over a decade, and who have guided the creation Pinnacle’s training programs.

Pinnacle employs a team of skilled technicians who work on the boats year-round. From stem to stern, this team processes about 300 work orders on each boat during the off-season alone; and services each boat regularly and is on-call seven days a week during the season to assure peak working order.

Community Oriented

Pinnacle Yachts launched a 501(c)3 Public Charity, the Pinnacle Foundation, with its tag line borrowed from JFK — “A Rising Tide Lifts All Ships”. The foundation benefits child-related organizations in the arts, education, healthcare. The Chicago Regatta, the Air Show from the race yacht OCEAN, plus cash and in-kind donations from Pinnacle Yachts, yacht clubs, businesses and individuals fund the Pinnacle Foundation. The Pinnacle Foundation and its associates have provided nearly $1,000,000 to child-related organizations.

Pinnacle Yachts was founded by Patricia Feracota and Gary Feracota — avid sailors and accomplished business people.

Patricia Feracota

Patricia is a Helmsperson and Trimmer of the turbo-class race yacht Vincitore, and previously of the 77 foot race yacht Ocean, then the largest racing sailboat in Chicago. She has raced the Chicago MAC, Bayview MAC, Queen’s Cup, Trans-Superior and other Midwestern distance races. Patricia has also crewed aboard the Volvo 70 foot yacht Monster Project in the prestigious RORC Caribbean 600. She has explored Greece and the Caribbean extensively by sailboat.

Patricia served on the Board of Directors of MOMENTA, the dance company of the Academy of Music and Movement; the foremost institution for the serious study of dance for people across the entire physiological and economic strata.

Prior to forming Pinnacle, Patricia was an auditor at Deloitte & Touche where she served the firm’s most complex and important clients.

Patricia holds a BS in Accounting from the University of Illinois.

Gary Feracota

Gary is Founder and President of the Pinnacle Foundation, NFP, a 501(c)3 public charity that supports the arts, education and community service.

Gary is President of the USCG sanctioned Chicago Harbor Safety Committee. The Chicago Harbor Safety Committee has been awarded the Harbor Safety Committee of the Year Award for 2017, 2018 and 2019 at the National Harbor Safety Committee Conference by Karl L Schultz, Admiral, Commandant of the U.S. Coast Guard.

Gary has also served on the Chicago Park District Lakefront Advisory Board.

Gary is Person in Charge of the turbo-class race yacht Vincitore, and previously of the 77 foot yacht Ocean, then Chicago’s largest racing sailboat. He has campaigned race yachts extensively on the Great Lakes.

He also raced the Volvo 70 foot yacht Monster Project in the Royal Ocean Racing Club’s Caribbean 600, and the infamous Fastnet race off England and Ireland.

Gary also has considerable experience sailing the waters of Greece and the Caribbean. He has also made a 1,800 mile Atlantic Ocean passage and a 1,300 mile Caribbean Sea passage.

The Chicago Yachting Association, a collective of twenty-five yacht clubs and marine organizations, selected Gary as 2015 Yachtsperson of the Year for outstanding leadership.

Gary was elected 2014 Yachtsperson of the Year by Lake Michigan Sail Racing Federation Area III for his philanthropic efforts and contributions to the sport of sailing.

Gary served on the Board of Directors of Mercury Air Group, a billion dollar then publicly-traded company that provides services for fractional jets, commercial airlines and military airports globally. He was the Chairman of the Audit Committee, Chairman of the Finance Committee, and a member of the Strategy, Nominating, and Compensation Committees.

He served as turn-around CEO for a software company, consummating the favorable sale of the firm to a private investment group.

Gary had a long and distinguished career as a management consultant. He was a Partner at Deloitte Consulting where he led the firm’s manufacturing practice in Chicago. He was also a consultant with Andersen Consulting (now Accenture).

Gary is an Eagle Scout. He is thankful to the fine men and women who took him under their wings and taught him about leadership and integrity.

He served on the Annual Fund Board, and on the Distinguished Alumni Committee of the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business (now the Chicago Booth School of Business). Gary holds an MBA from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business, a BS in Physics from Northern Illinois University, and has completed the curriculum in Corporate Governance at Harvard Business School.

I have been with this program since the early days and have never been happier. The company continues to expand and become ingrained into the Chicago boating culture. Respectful, professional, and charitable, Pinnacle as a family has been a pleasure to be apart of. All the boats are kept spotless and well maintained. The program is really put together well from the training to picking your calendar, it runs like a well oiled machine. We started on their 37ft sail boat and now moved up to bigger and better. They welcome even the most novice to the saltiest of sailors and power boaters. I highly recommend experiencing what it's like to have the feeling of owning your own boat but without the boat yard hassle and or $$$ our of your pocket.

The boats were clean, maintenance was on point, and the staff overall are super responsive. Tech support is always especially helpful and enjoyable to work with.

If you don't want to own the boat, just looking for summer fun - Pinnacle Yachts would be the right choice for you. No experience necessary. Last summer I was leasing a 37ft sail boat and it was a blast. Learning to sail was on my bucket list and I finally did it with the help of this fine organization. Everything is well organized, any problems or needed repairs were done swiftly. I want to thank Pinnacle Yachts owners once again for the wonderful experience - greatly recommended!

If you're wondering whether or not to lease a boat with Pinnacle, stop thinking and just do it. Out of the four summers I've lived in Chicago, summer 2014 was the most fun thanks to our 37' sailboat rental through Pinnacle. Here's the story- being a power boater growing up I've always wanted to get out on Lake Michigan but didn't want to deal with the hassle of buying a slip and having to store a boat over winter. After spending some time googling boat rentals Chicago, I decided to contact Pinnacle. Their owner Gary called me back right away and explained the program to both me and my friend. I originally thought we wanted a power boat, but Gary sold us hard (in a good way) on signing up for a sailboat (even though we had no prior sail experience). I recommend doing it with a friend because it created calendar flexibility, splits the cost, and was safer. After a fun kick-off lunch at the club and a 7 day intensive training course (which we had to pay separate for) we pretty much felt comfortable with the boat and could easily throw up the sails and get around the lake. Hardest part is actually pulling in and out of slip, not sailing. You essentially own the boat all summer along with 9 other owners, and don't pay for gas or maintenance. We were worried about the slot draft (like a fantasy football draft that lasts all day- can draft ~20 time slots either 9am-5pm or 5pm-9am), but with careful planning we secured all the weekend dates we wanted, including Memorial Day, Labor Day, Lolla Sunday, air and water show, and a few Wed firework nights. Throughout the season we picked up a bunch of random free slots too because most other boat owners were from the suburbs. Season runs from end of May to end of October. I think we ended up using it approx 30 times. The boat is awesome with a super nice cabin, two bedrooms, kitchen, and a bathroom. I even slept on the boat a couple of times. Most other owners respected the cleanliness and treated it with respect. Our wind gauge kept breaking which was annoying, but that was only problem we had with maintenance. We found that on weekday nights when we'd take a couple friends out on the lake we would usually sail. On weekends when we'd max out the boat (12 person max), and hang out at the playpen we rarely sailed and just used the motor. Motor maxes out at around 7 knots, which is the same top speed we hit with the sails up. One word of caution- there is an evergreen clause in the contract which automatically signs you up for the next season if you don't tell them otherwise by August...kind of rubbed me the wrong way but was the only negative in entire experience. Pinnacle seems to have this yacht rental business down to a science...and is a very efficient company. I highly recommend.

Absolutely a top-notch organization. I have a Pinnacle timeshare in a 34-foot motor vessel (a SeaRay Sundancer 340) this summer (2010) in Burnham Harbor, Chicago. Pinnacle has a sail program too. They maintain the boats meticulously and have a program that ensures fairness in allocating time slots with your fellow captains. The pricing is very, very reasonable compared to the cost of owning a top of the line boat like the Sundancer.

Justin Fields trade grades: Steelers earn high mark after acquiring QB from Bears for 2025 sixth-round pick

Pittsburgh fleeced chicago, again.

Once again, the Pittsburgh Steelers have fleeced the Chicago Bears in a trade. On Saturday, the Steelers acquired quarterback and former first-round pick Justin Fields from the Bears for a 2025 sixth-round pick, less than two years after Pittsburgh traded Chase Claypool to Chicago in exchange for a pick the Steelers ultimately used to draft cornerback Joey Porter Jr . 

After three seasons, the Bears are moving on from Fields and will surely use the No. 1 overall pick in April's draft to select former USC quarterback Caleb Williams. The Steelers will reportedly have Fields back up Russell Wilson , who is hoping to reboot his career following two rocky seasons in Denver. Pittsburgh traded former starting quarterback Kenny Pickett to Philadelphia shortly after signing Wilson. 

Below are grades for the trade that capped off a wild first week of NFL free agency. 

Six teams inquired about Fields, according to ESPN , but the majority of those teams envisioned Fields as a backup. The Bears were hoping to get something similar to what the Jets received when they traded Sam Darnold in 2021 to the Panthers (a 2021 sixth-round pick, 2022 second and fourth-round picks) but had to pivot when they weren't getting the offers that they had hoped for. 

Consider what Pittsburgh got in the Pickett trade: a 2024 third-round pick (No. 98 overall) and two 2025 seventh-round picks while giving the Eagles Pickett and a 2024 fourth-round pick (No. 120). The fact that the Steelers got considerably more for Pickett than the Bears did for Fields is nothing short of mind boggling. 

It's worth noting that pick the Bears acquired in this trade will improve to a fourth-round pick if Fields plays 51% percent of Pittsburgh's offense plays this season, according to ESPN . But with Wilson entrenched as the starter, that would require either an injury to Wilson or Fields replacing him for a performance-based reason. 

The Steelers will spend less than $4.5 million this season for Fields and Wilson. That's an incredible deal for one quarterback, let alone two. This will continue to give the Steelers the ability to sign more players to their roster having already signed Wilson, linebacker Patrick Queen and safety DeShon Elliott . 

A week ago, Pickett was still the Steelers' starting quarterback, as Pittsburgh was busy looking for his competition. Well, there won't be a competition in Pittsburgh now, not with Wilson entrenched as the starter and Fields backing up him. Fields, however, doesn't appear to mind the situation he's entering. He has told people since being traded that he is excited for his new beginning, via Sports Illustrated . 

This was a low-risk move for Pittsburgh. They gave up little to acquire a quarterback who still has untapped potential. Fields wasn't set up for success in Chicago, yet he continued to improve and in 2022 recorded the second-highest rushing total by a quarterback in NFL history for a single season.

Thousands of people, both Irish and non-Irish alike, will celebrate Irish heritage by attending one of the many parades around the U.S. this weekend in honor of St. Patrick's Day .

For many Americans, St. Patrick's Day is more than just a day of religious observance for the patron saint of Ireland , although that's the reason why celebrations began. The parade also celebrates Evacuation Day , a local Massachusetts holiday commemorating when British forces left Boston during the Revolutionary War on March 17, 1776.

Spanish police arrest 3 people over the deaths of 5 migrants forced out of a smugglers’ boat

Spanish police have arrested three people for the deaths last November of five migrants who were threatened with a machete and forced to jump off the boat they were traveling in with dozens of other migrants, authorities said Monday.

According to a police statement, the five died on Nov. 29 off the southern coast of Cádiz. The police said two men and a woman were arrested earlier this month but gave no further details.

The people smugglers had threatened the five with a machete and forced them to jump into the Atlantic Ocean despite the strong currents and cold temperatures.

Thirty-seven migrants had traveled in the boat from Kenitra, Morocco. The statement said the migrants had paid between 3,000 euros ($3,270) and 12,000 euros ($13,000) for a place in the boat.

Video images in November showed many of the other migrants being forced out of the vessel closer to land, before the smugglers sped off in the powerful boat. Police said they found the boat and some documents later, which helped in tracking down the three suspects.

Four of the bodies were recovered within hours and a fifth was found days later. The migrants were identified with the help of DNA samples from a family in Morocco.

Tens of thousands of migrants from sub-Saharan countries try to reach Spain each year in large open boats launched from northwest Africa. Most go to the Canary Islands in the Atlantic , while others from Morocco, Algeria and Middle Eastern countries try to cross the Mediterranean Sea and Atlantic Ocean to mainland Spain.

Several thousands die making the hazardous journey.
