“After a long experience in building yachts from 500 to over 2,000 GT, it is time to carry this kind of technical vision also into yachts from 30 to 45 meters,” Rossinavi COO Federico Rossi said in a statement. “Vessels suitable for long voyages and spending long periods offshore, while maintaining the same philosophy of luxury and functionality of a superyacht category.”

The initial Nolimits lineup includes the 98-foot NL30, the 121-foot NL37 and NL37+, and the 148-foot NL45 and NL45+. The “plus” versions have a raised pilothouse that allows for a different layout on the upper deck: The 37+ has an indoor skylounge with panoramic views, while the 45+ has a VIP cabin with a private deck.

All fleet members feature wide hulls to increase stability and space. Each yacht is outfitted with generous guest and crew areas to ensure comfort even on lengthy, global voyages. In addition, the vessels sport expansive panoramic windows and spacious sundecks to connect guests with the sea. The sundecks will be fitted with pools, bars, BBQs, sunbeds, and even windbreakers for protection against the elements.

In terms of performance, the Nolimits cruisers will be equipped with heavy-duty engines and generators, a double stabilization system for smooth sailing, and two independent rudders to increase maneuverability. In addition, each yacht has an impressive fuel capacity that enables transatlantic crossings, noise technology that dramatically reduces sound, and an A/C system with chillers that can operate at 150 percent capacity for fast refreshment.

Our latest model has been developed together with the owner. The ship has been built for long voyages at sea, with all possible comforts available on board. The wheelhouse is wider than the No Limit 16.40. This is the first of the No Limit series models with a kitchen located in the wheelhouse. There’s a spacious lounge below deck, as well as a generously sized owner's cabin which is situated in the middle of the ship. 

The ship has a large flybridge which covers the cockpit. There’s a hydraulic crane on the flybridge for simple and easy launching and removal of the tender. The perfect yacht for long sea voyages.

Two six-cylinder Volvo Penta engines, each with a power of 650 hp, are fitted in the engine compartment, which is accessible from the outside, as standard. These engines are reliable and relatively economical due to the electronically controlled fuel injection. The use of two engines not only facilitates manoeuvring, but also serves as extra security for longer trips.

The No Limit’s consumption levels are roughly equivalent to a single-engine cruiser of approximately the same dimensions when sailing at cruising speed. This is due to the very low load of the relatively heavy engines at average cruising speeds.

The engines are equipped with a dual fuel system, which can be switched in the event of an emergency. The two engines make manoeuvring a No Limit child's play, partly because of this the ship is also very easy to sail alone. Certainly in combination with the standard bow and stern thruster.

No Limit Ships have a critical view where preserving a ship is concerned.

We use a top quality preservation system with two components. The ship is completely blasted again before the first primer treatment, in order to obtain the perfect adhesion. This is the best basis for realising a top quality preservation system.

An epoxy coating is applied to the inside and outside of the entire ship, after which it’s given a completely smooth and round finish with epoxy filler which is strong and permanently elastic.

The preservation process is completed with an epoxy coating, after which everything is given a smooth finish with a wear-resistant and UV-resistant lacquer.

The ship is built from seawater-resistant aluminium. This makes preserving the inside of the ship unnecessary.

The decks are provided with a wear-resistant anti-slip coating to prevent slipping on the walking surfaces.

The interior is treated with a top quality two-component lacquer and finished off with a one-component lacquer.

The No Limit is equipped with the latest innovations and developments.

It comes with a complete navigation package as standard. The No Limit can also be controlled from the flybridge behind the wheelhouse and can be fitted in line with the customer’s wishes.

The ship is equipped with an automatic whisper-quiet generator as standard. There’s an automatic fire extinguishing system in the engine compartment.

We use the user-friendly "EmpirBus" system. A highly reliable operating system which can be programmed in line with your exact requirements.

A very complete ship like a No Limit’s conventional technology would usually be equipped with large switch panels for operating everything on the ship. This is complicated and difficult for many people.

This is a thing of the past with No Limit Ships and the entire ship is easy to operate for anyone thanks to the operating system used. For example, the No Limit has a number of standard push buttons, such as an “on board” mode, “navigation” mode and “off board” mode. Everything you need is automatically operated with the mere press of a button.

Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race 2023

David Gotze lately purchased the yacht christened Limit, which became in turn Aszhou and Voodoo. As Voodoo, Hugh Ellis finished the 2018 Rolex Sydney Hobart third overall to win Division 1, after buying the yacht out of USA. As No Limit, it led September’s Flinders Islet Race, but was pipped for line honours by Chinese Whisper –just 37 seconds separated them at the finish, with No Limit taking seventh overall. Then she led the Newcastle Bass Island Race, but retired with damage. Gotze campaigned the LC60, Triton, in recent Rolex Sydney Hobarts and finished 25th last year. Beforehand, he raced other offshore and one-design yachts successfully, including a Division 1 win and third overall with his Davidson 52 “Prime Example” in the 25th Sydney Hobart Yacht Race. Tony ‘Ace’ Ellis will break the record for the most Hobarts – it will be his 52nd.

As Limit, when owned by Alan Brierty, the yacht last did the Hobart in 2010 and finished 14 th overall. Launched three weeks prior to the 2008 Rolex Sydney Hobart, she finished seventh and then won Auckland Noumea Race line honours and every class (IRC/ORCi/PHRF). Upon returning to Australia, she retired from the 2009 race with rigging issues. This is a very good all-round boat, and a near sistership to the 2011 Rolex Sydney Hobart winner, Loki.

Jasmin Paris Becomes First Woman to Complete Extreme Barkley Race

The Barkley Marathons, which features cryptic rules for entry, requires runners to complete 100 miles of rugged terrain in Tennessee in under 60 hours.

The runner Jasmin Paris became on Friday the first woman to complete the Barkley Marathons, an extreme footrace that requires participants in rural Tennessee to navigate 100 miles of rugged terrain in no more than 60 hours.

Paris, 40, of Midlothian, Scotland, finished the race with one minute and 39 seconds to spare, making her one of only 20 people to complete the Barkley since it was extended to 100 miles in 1989. She was one of five to finish this year, out of 40 entrants.

At the end of the run, Paris sank to the ground in front of a yellow gate that marks the start and finish of the event, which consists of five roughly 20-mile laps.

“The final minutes were so intense, after all that effort it came down to a sprint uphill, with every fiber of my body screaming at me to stop,” Paris said in an email.

Her legs were covered in cuts and scratches by the time she reached the end of the race, which was the subject of a 2014 documentary, “ The Race That Eats Its Young .”

“I didn’t even know if I’d made it when I touched the gate,” she added. “I just gave it everything to get there and then collapsed, gasping for air.”

She attempted the race in 2022 and 2023 and became the first woman to reach the fourth lap since 2001. Though she didn’t complete the event in those years, she said that she felt more confident and experienced going into the race on Friday.

In 2019, Ms. Paris, an ultrarunner and veterinarian, became the first woman to win the Montane Spine Race, a 268-mile ultramarathon in the United Kingdom. She broke the previous course record by 12 hours despite stopping at checkpoints to pump breast milk for her newborn.

The Barkley began in 1986, after its founder, Gary Cantrell , learned about the prison escape of James Earl Ray, the man who assassinated Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Ray fled for eight miles over the course of 54 hours through the Tennessee wilderness. Cantrell thought he could fare better himself, and he began to map out routes inside Frozen Head State Park.

The prison has been along the race route, which can change every year and requires athletes to often run through pathless terrain.

The rules for entering the race are cryptic. The Barkley doesn’t advertise. It asks applicants to submit an essay explaining why they wish to compete, in addition to a $1.60 entry fee.

“There is no website, and I don’t publish the race date or explain how to enter,” Mr. Cantrell said in a 2013 interview with The New York Times.

“Anything that makes it more mentally stressful for the runners is good,” he added.

Nothing about the marathon, which also boasts the equivalent of 60,000 feet of ascent and descent, about twice the elevation of Mount Everest, is straightforward.

On the night before the event, runners must stay alert for the sound of a conch shell that signals one hour until the race begins. When they take their marks, Cantrell signifies the start of the race by lighting a ceremonial cigarette.

As the race advances, runners must find books that are scattered along the course and remove a page that corresponds to their assigned number to prove their progress.

They hand the page from each book to Mr. Cantrell, as they complete each lap. There are no path markers, and runners have to memorize the course before they begin.

“If there’s one thing I’ve learned from Barkley,” Ms. Paris said, “it’s that you never know what you are capable of until you try.”

But unlike most of the books in this school’s library, the young student doesn’t have to return this one — it’s his to keep forever. A newly launched program, led by the University of South Carolina College of Information and Communications, gives students at Hyatt Park Elementary and a growing number of other schools across the region access to hundreds of free books.

“We want to make sure students and their families constantly have access to books. We know having a home library greatly impacts literacy rates,” said Margaret Cook.

Margaret Cook coordinates the university’s popular Cocky’s Reading Express , a literacy outreach initiative that brings USC’s mascot to schools across the state to encourage students to read and give out free books. With the support of generous partners, the literacy initiative is growing to include the Adopt a School and Little Free Library programs.

“Adopt a School partners your organization with a Title I school for a year of literacy service which includes the installation and upkeep of a little free library at that school,”  said Cook. “Businesses, student or community organizations, churches or individuals can become impactful literacy partners.”

Hyatt Park Elementary received its Little Free Library thanks to the donation and support of the Association of African American Students at USC, a student organization with about 300 members.

“We saw this as an opportunity for college students, who have the privilege to go to the university and obtain higher education, to show elementary students what they can achieve if they work hard,” said Makayla Walker, service chair of the student organization. “We wanted to inspire them and encourage them to keep reading and learning.”

The student organization, and other “adopters,” promise to stock the library with at least 400 books throughout the year. The AAAS members raised money to adopt the school through a popcorn fundraiser and hosted a book drive to stock the library.

“In just the first month of having the Little Free Library in our school, we provided more than 100 books to local children,” said Wanda Wylie, Hyatt Park Elementary’s library media specialist. “The gift of reading is one of the best gifts we can give children. I've seen parents and children take advantage of the gift by grabbing books as they enter or exit the building.”

You may have seen a Little Free Library book-exchange box outside a business or in a park or neighborhood near you. The nonprofit organization, based in St. Paul, Minnesota, provides access to millions of free books through a global network of volunteer-led little libraries. There are more than 180,000 registered Little Free Libraries worldwide in 50 states, 121 countries and on all continents.

The organization also offers grants to underserved communities and specifically works to encourage reading inside “book deserts,” where fewer than 10% of homes own more than 100 books.

"Little Free Library is proud to work alongside USC's Cocky's Reading Express to improve book access and inspire a new generation of readers across South Carolina,” said Shelby King, director of programs, Little Free Library. “Ensuring that each child in every community can see themselves in the stories they read is central to our mission. Our hope is that through these new Little Free Library book-sharing boxes, children will be able to access books that incorporate experiences from all identities for all readers, regardless of their circumstances."

By May 2024, the little free libraries will be installed in five schools in Richland County School District One, one Richland County after-school program, and one school in Newberry County, with a gift in place for another school in Williamsburg County.

“We are committed to installing at least five little free libraries each semester to help this program grow quickly,” said Cook.

To reach that goal, Cook hopes to encourage more partners to support schools in their communities. Depending on how many students attend the school, sponsoring a Little Free Library costs between $2,500-$4,000. The cost covers an exciting visit from Cocky to launch the program, the installation of the library, a custom sign with the partner’s name on it, and library upkeep for a year. Partners may purchase books from Cocky’s Reading Express or hold book drives or other fundraising-type events to buy the books.

“My hope is to make literacy a community effort and to get as many people involved as possible,” said Cook. “Though Cocky’s Reading Express is a fun day of celebration of reading in schools, we don't get to keep seeing these students throughout the year. So, I want to make sure there are other community members who have those schools on their radar and continue to serve those schools through these Little Free Libraries throughout the year.”

Over time, these community partners will build stronger relationships with the schools.

“That’s how we will work together to truly impact students and families. We saw it firsthand at Hyatt Park. The children loved having the college students at their school, reading to them, having them interested in their lives. It’s also important to show college students how impactful they can be with young students. When we are all invested in the success of children, communities improve.”
