How does the charter agreement work?

Once your chosen yacht has been confirmed, we will send you a standard MYBA or Goolets charter agreement that needs to be signed. If your chosen cruise route requires a different embarking or disembarking place other than the yacht's central harbor, delivery/redelivery fees may apply.

What are the payment terms?

After signing the MYBA or Goolets charter agreement, a deposit of 50% of the total charter cost is required. You can pay the fee via bank transfer or credit card (only Visa or MasterCard). The other 50%, an Advance Provisioning Allowance (if applicable), taxes, positioning fees, and any previously agreed charges are payable via bank transfer eight weeks before departure.

and any previously agreed charges needs to be settled via bank transfer six weeks before departure.

What are the actual operating expenses?

Once you made the final payment of the charter, you pay the Advance Provisioning Allowance (APA). Under MYBA terms, this fee is usually between 30% - 40% of the total charter cost.

This covers the operating expenses of a charter (explained under Charter Terms), such as fuel, food, drinks, port fees, and ad hoc incidentals. The APA is given to the captain before the start of your charter. Some yachts and gulets also offer food/drinks packages which are normally paid in cash during embarkation, while the port taxes are paid during embarkation according to the costs presented by the captain. The Captain ensures that the yacht is fully fuelled and stocked when you step on board.

While an up-to-date summary of accounts can be requested at any time during your charter, a full set of accounts will normally be submitted by your captain at the end of the cruise.

In case of surpassing the amount of money already paid during your yacht charter (with the APA), additional funds (in cash) will be required at once. If there is an outstanding balance from the yacht charter, it should be settled in cash or by bank transfer before you disembark. In case of a remaining credit at the end of your charter, you will be fully reimbursed.

If a transfer by car to and from the yacht is required, it can be arranged either by the charter company or by the yacht’s captain, payment for which will be deducted from your APA.

How can we make your yacht charter personalized?

To ensure a unique and tailor-made charter experience, we will send you a detailed questionnaire eight weeks before you embark on your yacht. You can tell us your group's preferences and special requirements, such as dietary or medical needs, any particular wishes regarding exercise, entertainment, or if you are celebrating a special occasion.

Are internet and satellite TV connections available onboard?

In case you really need to get some work done during your vacation, no worries. On most yachts, there is mobile broadband internet and satellite TV, so you will stay connected to the rest of the world. Just keep in mind that the service can be limited in some areas (you are in the middle of the sea after all). If you anticipate regular usage of the internet, let us know prior to embarking, as upgrades might be subject to availability and additional fees may apply.

Is smoking allowed onboard?

Smoking is permitted only on the outside decks, and on some yachts, only in dedicated outdoor areas. Please consult our charter brokers for more information. For safety reasons, smoking indoors is strictly prohibited on all yachts.

Are tips for the crew mandatory?

Even though tips are not mandatory, the guests normally extend a gratuity to the devoted crew. The amount depends on the guest's satisfaction, but it is approximately 10% of the charter fee. The tips are equally distributed among all crew members by the captain.

Should I get any insurance?

In case of unforeseen circumstances that might prevent the charter, we highly recommend taking out the Cancellation and Curtailment Insurance to protect the investment. Besides that, the guests should be covered by Personal Accident and Medical Insurance, and their belongings are insured against theft, loss, or damage. Charterers’ Liability insurance is also highly recommended. Contact your broker for further assistance and additional advice regarding the insurance.

How are the charter rates calculated?

Charter rates are estimated weekly. If a charter exceeds seven days, they are calculated pro-rata against the weekly rate divided by seven and multiplied by the number of charter days. Keep in mind that some yachts are only chartered on a weekly (Saturday-Saturday or Sunday-Sunday) basis, especially during the high season.

High and low season rates vary depending on charter locations and types of yachts. The high rates apply to the most popular charter periods (July/August and Christmas/New Year), and to all major events. Low season rates apply to all other periods.

The charter rates on our website are up to date but may be subject to change.

What are the charter terms?

Most charter rates are based on MYBA Terms, which entail that the yacht is in full commission, with all necessary equipment, properly insured for marine risks, and managed by a crew, whose wages, food, and clothing are the owner’s expense.

All other operating expenses are charged to the charterer and include (but are not limited to): fuel and lubricating oils for the yacht and her tenders; local taxes; pilotage; port, harbor, and marina dues; customs clearance; water and power; personal laundry; all provisions, wines, beers, spirits, soft drinks and consumables for the charterer’s group; shoreside excursions, telecommunication, and internet costs.

Please note that, occasionally, a yacht may offer an alteration on the terms described above. For further information about specific yachts, consult your broker.

Do any other taxes apply?

For charters in European waters, Value Added Tax and delivery costs may be charged on the gross Charter Fee, due to the European Union tax legislation. In other countries, local taxes may also apply. Depending on your chosen charter destination, our brokers will provide any prevalent rates.

FULL YACHT CHARTER REVIEW

Inspected by us..

Start a journey of a lifetime with PHOENIX 72 and experience a different kind of Croatian charter holiday. Board a newly-made luxury vessel and introduce yourself to the crystal-clear sea, secluded turquoise bays, lush uninhabited islands and incredibly beautiful nature.

Make your dreams a reality with PHOENIX 72. The MV (motor vessel ) PHOENIX 72 is a mini luxury cruiser, designed around the idea of touring the Croatian Adriatic Sea. Totally different from ordinary yacht charters, PHOENIX 72 combines the best of both worlds – insane amounts of living space, both in the cabins and on decks and the luxury aspect of superyacht cruising.

Being a newly built boat, this marvellous mini cruiser will change your perspective on how you experience a charter holiday in Croatia.

PHOENIX 72`s total height is over 11 meters, a formidable sight when you stand on the sundeck and look down. You will be impressed by the height of this magnificent sea vessel, which will remind you of the tradition of grand ocean liners of the last century.

PHOENIX 72 has some of that old marine spirit left within her hull, so be prepared to experience the best of Croatia in a surrounding fit for royalty. Built in 2021 by a Croatian builder, PHOENIX 72 boasts a staggering number of 18 cabins, which can accommodate a total of 38 guests.

The bed configuration on PHOENIX 72 is as follows: 9 double cabins and 9 twin cabins which are convertible into doubles. Also worthy of mentioning is that two of the cabins include an extra twin bed, with each of the 18 cabins having its own safe and key card lock system.

It is possible to significantly upgrade the overall luxury experience, by adding more personnel. The 9 default crew members can be reinforced by 5 extra crew: a private massage therapist, an extra master chef, two more stewardesses and a fitness trainer/guest animator. Bare in mind, this is only doable with less than 24 charter guests.

This addition significantly increases all aspects of what level of luxury can be expected on PHOENIX 72, starting from the dining, which will be greatly elevated. Also, the service will be swifter and more detailed-oriented, while the customer`s experience will be nothing short of miraculous.

Imagine going for a private message, after a relaxing stretch session with your on-board fitness coach, before your Michelin-level dinner, prepared and served by a team of international chefs…what more is there to ask for? Also, PHOENIX 72`s sundeck is absolutely stunning, with a jacuzzi that can take 6 people.

The jacuzzi is surrounded by padded benches on all sides and a second row of circularly placed movable sun loungers. This whole set-up creates a sort-of second beach club area right in the middle of the sun deck, perfect for a late afternoon lounge and cocktail hour.

A favourite place for most guests, the sundeck jacuzzi will be prime real-estate for anybody wishing to sit back and relax in bubbly heaven and watch, with joy and fascination, the fantastic sights of Croatian islands against a swift and colourful sunset. Also to consider is an evening dip in the jacuzzi when the stars are high and there is no light pollution to spoil the view of the beautiful Milky Way.

The salon-style restaurant on the upper deck will stun guests with its ballroom-like features. Its massive surfaces houses 6 tables for 36 guests, but can be also converted into a dance hall. This restaurant also contains a fully-stocked bar and a buffet bar.

There is also a forward-placed lounge area, where guests can relax with pre-dinner cocktails or watch their favourite TV- show or movie. A PlayStation 5 entertainment centre will provide countless hours of fun for kids, while the adults prolong their meals in the salon nearby.

Wi-fi is consistent throughout all the decks and the entirety of PHOENIX 72 has excellent wireless coverage, enabling guests to uninterruptedly enjoy their smart devices.

You can expect that a wide variety of interests and needs will be catered to on this luxury mini-cruiser, because there is such an enormous amount of space that can be used for a multitude of purposes, like an improvised gym, a yacht cinema, a teaching space for dance lessons, Zumba, Pilates or Yoga.

You could even let your crew organise murder mystery role-playing games. With a number of cabins on offer, you could also organise scavenger hunts or a classic game of hide and seek. The kids would absolutely love to play around the boat, and it is totally safe for children. Lots of cameras and extra high railings lower any potential risk down to a minimum.

A DAY ON THE YACHT

Once you board PHOENIX 72 yacht charter, you will be in the company of possibly more than 20 of your friends and relatives. This means an atmosphere unlike any other on superyachts, enabling you to enjoy a different kind of luxury experience – orientated toward bringing you closer with the people you cherish and love the most, while also introducing you to the best of the Croatian Adriatic archipelago.

Wake up in one of 18 stylised cabins onboard PHOENIX 72 yacht charter and marvel at the view of a new location every day. Through your wide window, you can observe the glory of the Croatian Adriatic panorama, with azure waters, distant islands and close-by shore, totally private and exclusive.

Start your morning routine and when you are done, lock your cabin with a personalized key card, before continuing to the upper deck, where a generous breakfast buffet will be served.

Stepping into the beautifully decorated dining hall, you can choose between a carefully selected menu of breakfast dishes or order off the menu – you can even ask for breakfast to be delivered to your cabin.

You will definitely enjoy custom-made Croatian pancakes, fruit salads and cereals, with regular or vegan milk. Also to choose from will be prosciutto, ham, salty or sweet breakfast pastry and fresh fruit juices.

Finishing with breakfast, you decide to relax at the upper deck lounge, located just several feet from the breakfast buffet bar. Here, you can enjoy a drink from the bar while observing the beautiful Croatian Adriatic panorama. Relax in comfort and style and order a costume drink from the nearby bar, pondering about your itinerary for today.

You could let the captain of PHOENIX 72 pick a perfect location for the day or you could consult with the rest of your charter party and choose between several nearby locations that could be ideal for an awesome beginning of a superyacht charter holiday in Croatia.

First thing`s first, it would be a shame not to take advantage of the incredibly spacious beach club on PHOENIX 72, considering it stores several different water toys, including but not limited to Seabobs, jet skis, donuts, bananas, tubes; even an inflatable sailing dingy.

Return to your cabin to freshen up and prepare for some fun on PHOENIX 72`s beach club. The stewardesses have already brought movable chairs and tables, creating an atmosphere that truly resembles an exotic beach.

With cocktails and snacks, you get to pick between a wide variety of water toys. Organising races and tournaments will be a fun and exciting thing to do, especially if you are enjoying the company of your closest friends and family.

If you are not into water toys, take advantage of a private massage therapist on your yacht charter and make the beautiful Croatian Adriatic atmosphere a part of your relaxation session. Let the professional masseuses deploy the movable massage table anywhere aboard PHOENIX 72 yacht charter.

Be it on the front sun deck, on the beach club or in your cabin, you will definitely enjoy the skilful hands of your expert massage therapist. Feel the difference on your skin as you experience the benefits of all-natural, local and organic oils and cremes, designed specifically for top tier skincare.

Lavender oils mixed with olives and rosemary essential drops make for an aromatherapeutic bonus that goes excellent with professional massages. Afterwards, you could consult with the professional fitness trainer that is also part of the crew aboard PHOENIX 72. Ask about personalised training programs or get together with your charter party and train together.

There is nothing more fun than breaking a sweat on the beach club or the main deck aft, then jumping in the crisp Croatian Adriatic Sea, for instant refreshment.

During your stay aboard PHOENIX 72, you will be constantly supplied with drinks and snacks of all kinds; with such a numerous team in the galley, someone will always be available to take your order, no matter how extravagant it might be.

Enjoy spending your time on PHOENIX 72 until it is time for lunch. The incredible team of master chefs, chefs and sues chefs will create amazing culinary wonders, daily. Be prepared to taste amazing dishes like a lentil soup with paprika and lime infusion or quick-fried shrimp, with carrots and peas, served with rice balls and lemon zest.

Follow up with a classic beef wellington with sweet potatoes and carrot mash, served with aubergine and sweet chilly gravy and finish with a chocolate mousse with mocha crème. After lunch, you could tell your diligent captain to find a perfect secluded bay in which you could spend the rest of the afternoon.

There is a possibility to anchor PHOENIX 72 yacht charter in such a way that cuts off the entrance to the bay, making it completely private. This way, you can enjoy the whole area undisturbed; only you and your friends and family. Let your crew organise a real beach party with all the paraphernalia: sun loungers, beach toys, water toys, an improvised bar and lots of parasails.

While your kids snorkel and explore the coastline in the vicinity of the beach, you can sit back and relax, knowing that your expert crew are diligently watching over your children.

As the afternoon slowly makes way for dusk, sit back and enjoy the show. Your crew will prepare a beach bonfire, complete with tiki torches and soft LED lights for the ultimate beach experience.

At the same time, your chef team will prepare a luxury BBQ menu; grilled chicken with salty mushroom gravy, seasoned with red paprika and thyme or grilled sea bass with garlic, lemon, olive oil and rosemary reduction. The second part of dinner will be served when you return back to PHOENIX 72.

After you finish the first dinner course on your charming beach soirée, return to PHOENIX 72 while the crew tidies the beach and prepares for departure. On deck, you will be welcomed with a light finish to your dinner, which started with the beach BBQ. Be surprised by a wide variety of sushi, canapes, mini ice-cream cakes and loads of champagne.

Preparing for the afterparty in the upper deck salon, return to your cabin to freshen up and put on some more appropriate attire.

With music and dancing in the upper deck ballroom, and with drinks constantly flowing from the fantastically appointed bar, be prepared to dance the night away in an atmosphere that you will always remember as one of the greatest yacht charter vacations of your life.

For those late hours just before dawn, relax in the upper deck jacuzzi, totally enveloped by warm bubbles and massaging whirlpools. Surrounded by warm sea breezes and the smell of salt, know that you will rarely feel such a magnificent vibe than on PHOENIX 72.

After such a long day, return to your cabin, tired but happy, recognizing that the days ahead will only exceed the previous ones in grandeur and hedonistic delight.

YACHT CHARTER DINING

The dining standard aboard PHOENIX 72 will be different than what charter guests are used to on superyachts of different categories. Firstly, her galley is several times bigger than what is considered a „large“ galley when you compare PHOENIX 72 with yachts of similar length.

The fridge space is larger, the cold storage drawers are bigger and there is a lot of countertops and work surfaces, where chefs can prepare and plate all the luxury dishes you will get to try on PHOENIX 72. Industrial-quality kitchen appliances will make sure every dish is prepared exactly as it should be, on time and delicious.

The terrific team of chefs aboard PHOENIX 72 will act as a culinary `string quarter`; each piece they compose will outdo the previous, in scope, scale and artistry. The colours and scents of dishes will inspire and astound, greatly contributing to the overall luxury experience of a yacht charter holiday in Croatia.

It is very rare to find 4 people in the galley of a yacht, but this is exactly the case on PHOENIX 72 yacht charter: one master chef, one chef and two sues chefs. This type of configuration guarantees a dining standard unlike any other in the industry.

A higher number of people that can directly apply themselves in preparing food impacts the quality of the overall dining experience. This means that the courses will be are plentiful, the dishes intricate and the plating and presentation fantastic. The luxury upper deck alfresco dining area will be the main stage for culinary adventure and wonders aboard this marvellous yacht.

For breakfast, you can expect eggs prepared to order, French toast and deli meats, combined with hand-made and freshly baked pastries, either sweet or savoury. Also, to choose from will be fresh fruit, vegetables, a wide choice of granola, squeezed juices and smoothies.

For lunch, you can expect a menu similar to a local Croatian seafood broth, made from mussels, called `Buzara`, followed by fried lobster tail with a butter and garlic sauce, sprinkled with lime vinaigrette. Continue your meal with a steamed and salted seabass with spinach puree and local olive oil, finishing with a hand-made molten chocolate cake.

Dinners can resemble dishes like a tomato gazpacho with local Croatian cheese from the island of Pag, followed by a black squid risotto and salmon medallions with a rosemary and garlic reduction, fried over excellent Croatian red wine. For dessert, a raspberry cheesecake.

YACHT MAIN DECK

The main deck aft is 10 meters in width, with an incredibly long and spacious stern sofa bench. Moving from the stern, we have a day head on the starboard side of the main deck aft. The colour scheme is white and grey marble with a black sink and head. Very stylish and simple, yet elegant.

Moving on the starboard side of the side deck, we traverse the main deck amidship from the exterior and arrive into the main deck lobby. Polished steel handrails are a practical feature in the main deck hallway, leading into cabins 14 to 17.

Yacht Charter Accommodation: Cabin 15

This cabin incorporates very large and very wide windows, located to port. A silver streamlined decorative surface combined with a mirror presents an interesting detail, as well as providing a surface against which light can shine and reflect.

A cushy and comfortable chair is paired with a wide desk which has integrated air-conditioning, a pretty practical feature for keeping cool. The ensuite follows a simple design, with marble surfaces, a sink, a shower cabin and a head.

Yacht Charter Accommodation: Cabins 16 and 14

Upon entering cabin 16, guests can immediately notice a big hanging closet with ample room. Also present is the re-occurring silvery-glass motif with a mirror, so guests can enjoy special displays of light reflecting against the polished surfaces, filling the cabin with incredible patterns of light and shadow.

This is made possible by vast amounts of sunlight that constantly fill this cabin, thanks to wide and large window surfaces.

When it comes to cabin 14, it is exactly the same as cabin 16, with big windows, lots of room, a queen-size berth and an ensuite bathroom with a sink, a head and a shower cabin.

Moving through the main deck hallway towards the stern, guests can find cabins 9,10,11,12 and 13, with a private crew hallway and staircase leading to the lower deck crew mess and accommodations.

Also, cameras can be found throughout the vessel, elevating the security and safety measures on all the decks to a formidable level for anyone that would want to disturb the peacefulness of your superyacht charter holiday in Croatia.

YACHT UPPER DECK

Yacht charter accommodation: main salon & dining area.

Guests arrive at the upper deck main salon via a staircase leading from the main deck. The main salon heavily resembles a ballroom, with six circular black tables and thirty-six very comfortable sofa chairs.

The floor is very nice and sleek, made from polished soft marble. The chandeliers are designed contemporary, with mirror surfaces that extend from the light source, creating an impression of a corral or a seashell.

Guests can enjoy their dinner and the view at the same time because of the wide salon windows, that offer full panoramic views on both port and starboard sides. An absolutely enormous flat-screen TV creates an atmosphere of a big meeting hall in a huge European castle.

There are also four big polished stainless-steel pylons, which serve as supports for the yacht`s superstructure. The pylons are also aesthetically correct, matching the decor of the upper deck main salon and contributing to the overall atmosphere of an exclusive dining area.

Moving towards the bow, guests can notice a buffet surface to port. This big buffet bar can be used to serve breakfast for a large number of people, while also having ample storage space like wine coolers, mini-fridges etc. There are also shelves for drinks and alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverages.

This layout is due to the fact that the original intention behind building PHOENIX 72 yacht charter was for it to be a miniature cruise ship, intended on providing a different kind of charter experience to a bigger number of people.

PHOENIX 72 yacht charter was designed to serve the function of a mini cruise ship and not a superyacht, so it boasts several amenities and features exclusively held by cruise ships, which include a large breakfast buffet bar, a separate and fully stocked restaurant bar and a restaurant-sized galley across the bar, so the service could be performed in a swift and practical manner.

The fully equipped bar located forward from the salon dining hall will serve as a focal point for socialising and entertaining, with pre-and post-dinner cocktails or canapes and champagne. Passing through the bar and galley, guests arrive at the lounge and fun area, placed as the last interior feature before the upper foredeck alfresco area.

This comfortable lounge has enough sitting room for a dozen guests, and its vicinity to the bar makes it a perfect place to rest and digest the Michelin-level food you will enjoy every day, during your stay on PHOENIX 72 yacht charter. This bow-faced gaming and fun area is one big C-shaped circular sofa with 3 small coffee tables.

There is also a PlayStation 5 gaming centre, that will attract the younger generation to spend hours of fun on their charter holiday in Croatia. A day head across the fully-equipped bar, with a head and a sink, will make going to the bathroom in your cabin totally redundant.

The positioning of the galley is masterfully done, so the chef can plate and send the dishes directly from the galley to the dining tables, placed several feet away from the chef. The bar right across the galley makes serving practical, efficient, time-saving and not disturbing to the guests.

The upper deck aft area is a huge C-shaped sofa arrangement, incorporating 8 tables including two corner ones. The sofa follows the entire length of the stern.

This is a big alfresco dining area with chairs and tables fit for the entire number of max. guests on board. From the upper deck aft, guests can observe that PHOENIX 72  is totally walk-around, implementing very wide side decks that enable guests to circle the entire length of the yacht and climb up to the last deck.

YACHT SUNDECK

The sundeck features an enormous aft-placed jacuzzi, big enough to be a jacuzzi pool. There are also movable sun loungers that use this space so guests could relax under the warm Croatian Adriatic Sun. This space can also be used for a multitude of other purposes, like a yacht cinema, a floor for dance competitions, hide and seek, tag and other fun activities.

The corners of the jacuzzi are made into benches, so people can sit beside the jacuzzi and chitchat with the guests that are inside, but also enjoy the comfort of a padded white leather bench. Moving forward, there are two opposing and elongated sofas under the hardtop.

There is also a fully equipped bar down the line, placed in the middle of the deck. This wonderfully decorated bar is ornated with mosaic reminding onlookers of a phoenix’s tail feathers.

Moving towards the bow, guests can enjoy a totally unique feature, reserved only for larger cruise ships – an alfresco observatory in front of the upper deck bow. There are polished steel handrails for protection and four very large sun pads located in front of the helm station windshield.

This area presents a perfect opportunity for all guests who are in need of a fantastic Adriatic panorama or some rest and relaxation under the sun.

The impression of looking overboard enables guests to grasp just how big is this ship, feeling her size. With more than 11 meters in height, PHOENIX 72 offers the advantages of both a cruise ship and a luxury yacht which is the main reason why you should consider chartering a vessel like this.

There is also a day head, located on the starboard side of the upper side deck. There are day heads scattered across all decks. This way, PHOENIX 72 stays true to its cruiser origin, always having a practical day head nearby for the guest`s convenience. When moving between the exterior decks, guests can notice interestingly-built staircases.

Two very wide stainless-steel pylons are moulded with wood stairs to combine classical and contemporary elements in a practical form. A very wide side deck area enables free-flowing of energy and movement, without any traffic.

YACHT LOWER DECK

To get to the lower deck, guests must take the black marble stairs from the main deck lobby down and towards the stern, reaching cabin number one.

Yacht Charter Accommodation: cabin 1

This cabin is equipped with a double berth and an ensuite bathroom. The layout is different from what you would usually expect on yachts. Reminding of a hotel room, there is plenty of walk-around room and headspace.

The wall behind the berth headspace is a mirror feature with curbed lines, which only accentuates natural light coming in two elongated porthole windows on the port side. Hip high cabinetry with black polished wood surfaces provides a practical storage solution, alongside a regular hanging closet.

The cabin comes equipped with a flat-screen TV is in front of the berth, while the wall pannels are made of wood and painted a dark greyish colour. The ensuite is very nice, incorporating a lot of marble surfaces and details.

Observant guests will notice that marble is the main decor theme in the ensuites and day heads aboard PHOENIX 72. The ensuite in cabin 1 features a large sink, a head and a spacious shower cabin, with a rainfall option.

A decoration feature, on the port side of the cabin, is a silver wall surface combined with a mirror, streamlined to create a sort of a rippling water effect.

When the sun hits just right and daylight comes into the portholes, together with the curbed mirror above the berth, this silver decorational feature creates an intricate light show, bringing the shimmering surface of the sea directly into this cabin.

Yacht Charter Accommodation: cabin 2

Cabin number 1 and cabin number 2 are identical, mirror images of one another, with some noteworthy stand-out features, like a safe in the hanging closet, or the massive doors. On most yachts, there is no need for massive, bulky doors, and rarely will you find doors that are as thick as the doors on PHOENIX 72.

When underway, these doors will never slam shut or be swayed by the yacht`s movement, thanks to their bulkiness. The doors are covered with a dark fabric and a faux leather combination, with massive steel frames providing a feeling of sturdiness; you can sense the strength of the opening mechanism and the weight of the door itself.

Yacht Charter Accommodation: cabins 3 & 4

Cabins 3 and 4 are slightly different in design from cabins 1 and 2, with two major differences: cabin 4 is a twin without the conversion option, while cabin number 3 is a twin with an option of being converted into a double.

There are double-wide porthole windows parallel to a quaint art piece, that brings the sea directly into the cabin. The same elongated curbed mirror feature above the berth is also present in this cabin, as is the case with cabins 1 and 2.

There is also a very soft chair and a compact countertop that can be used as a desk, but with somewhat limited room. This is because there is an air-conditioning vent is directly integrated into the countertop.

The ensuite is exactly the same as in the rest of the cabins, with marble surfaces, marble countertops, a large sink, a head, decorations and LED lights that are integrated into the white ceiling. There is also a porthole in the ensuite and a generously spaced marble shower cabin with a rainfall option as well.

Stepping back into the hallway…

The hallway that connects all four of the lower deck cabins is decorated to suit PHOENIX 72`s yacht charter design. The walls are covered with a faux marble surface, while the floor is made from genuine white marble with blackish stripes.

The irregular impression and the clashing of black and white combine beautifully with the general design theme that is present in the lower deck cabins. An interesting fact to notice is that the hallway has integrated speakers as well as a fire alarm and a camera.

This raises the safety standard for guests to unprecedented levels when you compare PHOENIX 72 with superyachts of similar lengths. There are a few other vessels on the water that can offer the same amount of security to guests, especially if you add the bulky doors which are key-card lockable and the safes in all the cabins.

All of these features create a safe and secure cruising environment, in which guests will feel protected and cared for. The second part of the lower deck is accessible by returning to the main deck foyer and taking the staircase leading down to the lower deck bow. Passing through this second stairway, guests can check out cabins 5 through 8.

Yacht charter accommodation: cabins 5 through 8

Cabins 5, 6, 7 and 8 are pretty much the same as all the others, with some minor layout changes that do not impact the overall impression of the cabin. There is a flat-screen TV for the guest`s entertainment, a hanging closet with an integrated safe and two nightstands on both sides of the double berth.

The headspace above the berth is decorated in the same manner as in the rest of the cabins, with irregularly curved mirrors and silvery frames that follow the curbs. The ensuite is identical to all other ensuites, using marble decoration and white as a primary colour. It is also equipped with a sink, a head and a shower cabin.

The re-occurring theme of silvery glass wall ornament can also be spotted here.  A fine addition is a soft and cushy chair paired with a compact desk, without the vanity feature. Two elongated portholes make sure that the cabins stay filled with sunlight all throughout the day.

There are a total of two specially-arranged cabins, which feature a costume berth configuration, containing one double berth and one twin berth, perfect for a family with a child or two small children, so all the members of the family can sleep in the same cabin.

YACHT BEACH CLUB & SWIMMING PLATFORM

The space of PHOENIX 72`s beach club rivals the space of salons on smaller superyachts. There are a plethora of water toys that include but are not limited to jet skis, stand-up paddleboards, donuts, tubes, a banana, water skis and a really slick, really streamlined chase boat.

Ask your local Superyachts Croatia broker about what kinds of water toys you can expect on your charter holiday on PHOENIX 72 yacht charter. You can even arrange for some more exotic toys to be brought on board, for an extra fee. There are also sea ladders, which enable guests to easily get in and out of the water.

As an added bonus, there is also a hydraulic sea passarell, which acts as a stairway directly into the water, so no jumping is required. Just stream directly into the crystal Croatian Adriatic Sea.

The spacing of the beach club is absolutely fantastic; there is no hydraulic garage door, but a single door that leads into the engine room which serves a secondary function as a compact garage.

For instant fun, ask the onboard fitness instructor to assist you in creating a fantastic beach club water schedule, while also organising tournaments for all kinds of water sports. Let your expert deck crew put all the toys in the water, so you and your numerous charter party could utilise the full potential of a large charter group.

Enjoy potential water sports tournaments and water toys competitions. Race with jet skis, go diving in a group or play water-tag.

Let your fitness animator set up an obstacle course made up of water toys and natural beach elements. Starting from a beach, you must dive to get a key, then swim to open a lock on a stand-up paddleboard. Start paddling towards the donuts, tubes and banana configuration, where you must walk on the inflatables without losing your balance.

Lastly, hop on a jet ski and speed back to the beach, where you will ring the bell and finish the track. When there is a lot of people doing it in the same time, it resembles old obstacle courses from the reality-survival show „Survivor“ – a lot of fun and excitement.

Phoenix 2: On board Lürssen’s 90m superyacht inspired by New York’s skyline

With her rich, art deco-inspired styling and a layout that focuses on entertaining, 90 metre Phoenix 2 feels like the floating version of Jay Gatsby’s mansion. To get a feel for her star quality, Katia Damborsky steps on board.

“I think it's great if you go on this boat and you haven't seen it for five years,” muses Andrew Winch, whose team designed every inch of Phoenix 2 ’s eye-catching exteriors and remarkable interiors. “You will find things that you recognise and remember, but you will also find things that you didn't see the first time around.”

As soon as I step on board Phoenix 2 a few weeks later, I discover Winch is right. Phoenix 2 treads a fine line between wow-factor features that are impossible to forget - such as cherry velvet floors and a gold-gilded grand piano — and subtle details, evident in the owner’s brief for all-custom everything. Perhaps unsurprisingly for an owner with a penchant for music, the balance is in perfect harmony.

You'd never guess this yacht was delivered over a decade ago. Not only is she subject to rigorous maintenance periods that keep her in immaculate condition, she also has an air of elegance that suggests she’ll never look tired or dated – in fact, she shares the same timelessness and charm as The Great Gatsby itself.

Phoenix 2 was completed by Lürssen in 2010, with Robert Moran overseeing the build and Winch Design undertaking the creative concept. Prior to Phoenix 2 , the owner had a previous Winch designed-Lürssen, and over the course of his ownership, he came to know Peter Lürssen well. “They became very good friends, which is something that’s typically hard to do with a client,” says Michael Breman, sales director at Lürssen. “So when he decided to build the boat, it was quite logical that he would come in to talk to Peter.”

But when it came to building his next boat, which would be his first new build, the client “didn’t really want a repeat of his current yacht, which was based on art deco Paris,” says Winch. Every major city in the world has its own take on art deco, explains Winch, and with Phoenix 2 , the brief was to capture the art deco spirit of New York. Why New York? “The client was inspired by the New York skyline and wanted to interpret that in the yacht. These buildings are symbolic of power and strength and the New York skyline was his inspiration” says Winch.

From the outside, Phoenix 2 captures that strength in her soaring lines, poised silhouette and a 5.7-metre phoenix figurehead that rises up from the bow like the eagles mounted on the Chrysler building. Phoenix 2 was the first modern yacht with a figurehead flying from the bow, as opposed to hugging the underside, and it adds to the yacht’s imposing stature.

On the interior, the yacht’s strength comes from her character; after all, it would be impossible to see a picture taken inside Phoenix 2 and mistake it for any other yacht. In the dining saloon, a six-panelled gold bas-relief structure, a bespoke piece by DKT Artworks, overlooks the dining table. Sitting opposite is a statue of a conductor and the backs of dining chairs are embroidered with different orchestra members, which marry up to the place settings at the dinner table.

“The owner adored music and had built friendships with some world-class concert pianists who were were invited as guests to come and play for him,” recalls Winch. It’s easy to imagine an extravagant soireé here, with the custom-designed Steinway being played and fine wines from the owner’s collection being ushered in from the adjacent Sommelier Room.

Design choices that might make other designers recoil have been embraced by Winch. Bordering the dining saloon are thick, dark curtains, reminiscent of a 1920s speakeasy, and black tones feature heavily throughout other areas of the yacht. “The thing is that wherever this boat is cruising in the summer, it's never going anywhere where it's not sunny,” Winch reminds me. “And you can go outside and have too much light and wear your sunglasses and hat to give you shade. So when you go inside, it's actually relaxing.”

And then there’s the sparkle. “To have a darker interior is not sombre; it's sparkling,” says Winch, and he’s right (again). By keeping darker elements in the interior, the light feels like a glittering, golden air that dances through the boat, illuminating bronze phoenixes on the overheads and making the yacht’s 100 metres of uniquely shaped, polished stainless steel handrails glisten.

But then there’s that subtlety again, reining things in. The yacht plays host to a Modigliani sculpture, an epic piece that some owners might like to display front and centre – but on Phoenix 2 , it’s hidden in the hallway that leads to the master suite. “Why put it in the hallway? Why put it somewhere private? Because it's even more of a drama,” laughs Winch.

The owner considered his guests’ reception to his yacht a lot when it came to the design, and nothing was more rigorously considered than custom details. During my tour, I stop and ask about where certain features were supplied from, and almost every time I’m met with a wry smile. “He didn’t want people to walk in and go ‘I see you've got a piece of a light from X, Y Z, shop’,” says Winch. “He wanted to be able to say: ‘It's the only one in the world.’” To this end, even the door handles and cutlery are unique, one-of-a-kind miniature art pieces.

Her show-stopping design even extends into the engine room. This space is usually a concealed area that guests and owners rarely visit – but on Phoenix 2 , this cavernous chamber packed with state-of-the-art technology is actually a sought-after stop-off on most tours around the boat.

Phoenix 2 is about to enjoy her first charter season with Edmiston , and Victoria Verhovskaia, the firm's charter fleet manager, predicts she will be a popular addition to the fleet. “July and August are fully booked in the western and eastern Med,” she says. “She will definitely have repeat clients.” Crowd-pleasing features include a 7.5-metre pool attached to a spa pool and bridge deck complete with a gym, hair-dressing salon-cum-massage room and a truly decadent hammam.

In the belly of the boat, there is a cinema. A foyer influenced by Radio City Music Hall in New York hides a machine that produces hot, buttery popcorn and the cinema room itself volunteers five double chaises finished in black ostrich with mink and cashmere throws. Fibre optics paint a starfield across the black carpet and a velvet curtain slides open to reveal the enormous cinema screen.

From the lower deck, a spiralled staircase and a glass-encased elevator serve all decks. The staircase is aluminium and finished in a riveted style that speaks to the second industrial revolution that prevailed in the 1920s. The bannisters follow a phoenix wing theme and the silhouette of a skyscraper is ingrained in the carpet, widening as the staircase ascends.

The skyscraper motif is repeated again in the backs of the barstools in the owner’s lounge, which sits on the upper deck. Here, there is an airier feeling thanks to a central skylight that lets light pour in. The lounge can be closed off for privacy or connected to the winter garden, a favoured spot on board according to Captain Ian Howcroft.

Here, retractable glass windows create a hybrid indoor-outdoor space that’s easily capable of hosting up to 120 guests – but when Phoenix 2 isn’t in party mode, it serves as a dining spot. A dining table is flanked by a pair of buffet-style tables and bordered by a small lounging area on the aft deck. “When the buffet tables were first installed, the owner told me to sit in the seat that he usually sat in,” says Howcroft. “He said, ‘now look out there,’ and I said, ‘I can’t, so we changed it!” Now, the buffet tables move up and down at the touch of a button.

The owner certainly knew what he wanted when designing Phoenix 2, and there is no more compelling evidence of this than the owner’s suite. It’s a visually striking space that’s accessed via a glass spiral staircase set against the backdrop of a busy mural depicting a scene of New York. An entire, unbroken black ring circles the bed, transitioning from the plush white carpet onto the marble of the en suite.

A cleverly concealed wardrobe allows the owner to hide away their belongings while the yacht is chartering, and a sliding mirror divides the bathroom into two perfect segments. Private areas are hidden behind large artworks, but I manage to pop my head in during the tour and find that the rumours about black toilet paper are indeed true.

The custom vanity table in the owner’s suite is Winch’s pride and joy. Sitting elegantly by the window, its milky pearlescent finish makes it look like it’s emitting its own light. “The vanity [looks like] it could have come out of Breakfast at Tiffany's ,” agrees Winch.

With her glittering interiors and Hollywood charisma , Phoenix 2 is a yacht that shines both literally and figuratively. It may be 12 years since she was delivered, but it's safe to say that sparkle isn't going anywhere and it was well worth the wait to peer behind the velvet curtain.

Phoenix 2 is listed for sale with Burgess and Cecil Wright , asking €124,950,000.

Cruising the Moskva River: A short guide to boat trips in Russia’s capital

phoenix 72 yacht price

There’s hardly a better way to absorb Moscow’s atmosphere than on a ship sailing up and down the Moskva River. While complicated ticketing, loud music and chilling winds might dampen the anticipated fun, this checklist will help you to enjoy the scenic views and not fall into common tourist traps.

How to find the right boat?

There are plenty of boats and selecting the right one might be challenging. The size of the boat should be your main criteria.

Plenty of small boats cruise the Moskva River, and the most vivid one is this yellow Lay’s-branded boat. Everyone who has ever visited Moscow probably has seen it.

phoenix 72 yacht price

This option might leave a passenger disembarking partially deaf as the merciless Russian pop music blasts onboard. A free spirit, however, will find partying on such a vessel to be an unforgettable and authentic experience that’s almost a metaphor for life in modern Russia: too loud, and sometimes too welcoming. Tickets start at $13 (800 rubles) per person.

Bigger boats offer smoother sailing and tend to attract foreign visitors because of their distinct Soviet aura. Indeed, many of the older vessels must have seen better days. They are still afloat, however, and getting aboard is a unique ‘cultural’ experience. Sometimes the crew might offer lunch or dinner to passengers, but this option must be purchased with the ticket. Here is one such  option  offering dinner for $24 (1,490 rubles).

phoenix 72 yacht price

If you want to travel in style, consider Flotilla Radisson. These large, modern vessels are quite posh, with a cozy restaurant and an attentive crew at your service. Even though the selection of wines and food is modest, these vessels are still much better than other boats.

phoenix 72 yacht price

Surprisingly, the luxurious boats are priced rather modestly, and a single ticket goes for $17-$32 (1,100-2,000 rubles); also expect a reasonable restaurant bill on top.

How to buy tickets?

Women holding photos of ships promise huge discounts to “the young and beautiful,” and give personal invitations for river tours. They sound and look nice, but there’s a small catch: their ticket prices are usually more than those purchased online.

“We bought tickets from street hawkers for 900 rubles each, only to later discover that the other passengers bought their tickets twice as cheap!”  wrote  (in Russian) a disappointed Rostislav on a travel company website.

Nevertheless, buying from street hawkers has one considerable advantage: they personally escort you to the vessel so that you don’t waste time looking for the boat on your own.

phoenix 72 yacht price

Prices start at $13 (800 rubles) for one ride, and for an additional $6.5 (400 rubles) you can purchase an unlimited number of tours on the same boat on any given day.

Flotilla Radisson has official ticket offices at Gorky Park and Hotel Ukraine, but they’re often sold out.

Buying online is an option that might save some cash. Websites such as  this   offer considerable discounts for tickets sold online. On a busy Friday night an online purchase might be the only chance to get a ticket on a Flotilla Radisson boat.

This  website  (in Russian) offers multiple options for short river cruises in and around the city center, including offbeat options such as ‘disco cruises’ and ‘children cruises.’ This other  website  sells tickets online, but doesn’t have an English version. The interface is intuitive, however.

Buying tickets online has its bad points, however. The most common is confusing which pier you should go to and missing your river tour.

phoenix 72 yacht price

“I once bought tickets online to save with the discount that the website offered,” said Igor Shvarkin from Moscow. “The pier was initially marked as ‘Park Kultury,’ but when I arrived it wasn’t easy to find my boat because there were too many there. My guests had to walk a considerable distance before I finally found the vessel that accepted my tickets purchased online,” said the man.

There are two main boarding piers in the city center:  Hotel Ukraine  and  Park Kultury . Always take note of your particular berth when buying tickets online.

Where to sit onboard?

Even on a warm day, the headwind might be chilly for passengers on deck. Make sure you have warm clothes, or that the crew has blankets ready upon request.

The glass-encased hold makes the tour much more comfortable, but not at the expense of having an enjoyable experience.

phoenix 72 yacht price

Getting off the boat requires preparation as well. Ideally, you should be able to disembark on any pier along the way. In reality, passengers never know where the boat’s captain will make the next stop. Street hawkers often tell passengers in advance where they’ll be able to disembark. If you buy tickets online then you’ll have to research it yourself.

There’s a chance that the captain won’t make any stops at all and will take you back to where the tour began, which is the case with Flotilla Radisson. The safest option is to automatically expect that you’ll return to the pier where you started.

Restaurant-Yacht Chaika

Ratings and reviews, location and contact.

Pleasantly surprised, service is good so is the food. Great selection of Fusion food, a mixture of Italian, Japanese, European, Asian etc. A pleasantly nice dining experience, highly recommended, a must try!

Thank you for your feedback and invite you to have lunch or dinner again aboard the ship in an atmosphere of high standards of yacht hospitality.

everything was perfect - the food, the service, the desserts were the best, nice atmosphere and the location - magical

Best food, best view in Moscow. absolutely faultless from arrival to finish. Best risotto i had for many years absolutely perfectly cooked. The view on Ukrainian hotel and the white house by night is amazing

Had to wait for the food for 1.5 hours and then another 20 minutes for the check. Finally called for the manager and he offered... a 10% discount as a compensation. Simply pathetic! The food is mediocre at best. Not bad per se, but one... would expect something better considering the prices. There are many places to eat in area that are much better. Avoid this one at all costs. Hello, Alexander Your comment is extremely important for us, thank you a lot for it. We are terribly sorry for your time that you`ve spent waiting your order and we have already taken actions to improve quality of our service and it would be realy... More

Food is very expensive, very pretentious, doesn't worth that money. Portions are very small. We ordered ravioli and there were 4! Four raviolis! For almost 15 euros. Then we asked to bring us dessert menu but nothing, they didn't even bothered, so we payed and left... without dessert. Very poor service for that price. More

This is a very good restaurant. The food is really good, maybe the best in Moscow. The service is also good. The view from the restaurant is great. The prices are very high.

I often visit this restaurant and must say it’s one of the best in Moscow in terms of quality and service. Staff really try hard to make sure that you are happy and satisfied. Customer service is a huge problem in Moscow but Chaika sets... a great example for others in the industry! Food is delicious and the menu has lots of options for everyone! Atmosphere is great and view is beautiful on the embankment. Special thanks to German & Oleg! More

Thank you for your feedback! Again aboard the yacht restaurant "Chaika" in accordance with the high standards of yacht hospitality.

Highly recommended, great location in the city center of Moscow with a superb atmosphere. Too many menu choices, though all delicious!

Thx a lot for your review! We are looking forward to see you in our restaurants.

Visited this lovely restaurant with a friend of mine. It was relaxingly warm August evening - so the place on the river seemed like a good idea. We came quite early and the restaurant was not full. The hostesses kindly offered several places to sit... and we chose to sit on the sofas. We had some wine, which was good. We struggled a bit when deciding about the food as few options (scallops) were not available. Fish on ice on display did not look very fresh. To be honest it was an unusually hot August and it is probably understandable that some see food options were not available. However, we did manage to order something and sat waiting and looking onto the river. My long-legged friend struggled sitting at the low sofa and the manager noticed that, offering as a very good, proper table beside the open window. It was nice touch and I was very pleased by their polite observations and immediate reaction to solve the problem. Food was quite good and presentation was perfect. Perhaps I can something about the food, but 1 visit is not enough to criticize or make a definitive opinion. Overall, quality place, which of course, does not come cheap. I would recommend this restaurant without hesitation. More

Good afternoon! Thank you for your detailed feedback! We are looking forward to seeing you again, we are sure that you will be delighted with our dishes!

I've been here several times during two business trip in Moscow. The overall quality for both service and food is absolutely top-notch, plus the location is very unique.

Good location. Nice views. Good choice of food and drinks. European and Asian menu. Nice service. Pricey enough.

72 Fun & Unusual Things to Do in Moscow

fun things to do in Moscow

Sure, Moscow is the Russian political capital and the nation’s most populous city, but describing it as such couldn’t be any further from the truth. More accurately, Moscow is a city of contrasts.

It exudes history — its Kremlin dates back centuries, nodding to royalty and leadership old and now, while the famed Red Square, the poster child of the city, blends striking color with ancient tradition and religion.

On the other hand, it’s a city of modern pop culture and towering skyscrapers; a place where you’ll come across new-age museums, arts centers, manmade parks, and an efficient transportation system that’s one of the most beautiful in Europe.

It’s a city of longstanding culture — the Bolshoi Theater is an international symbol for excellence in classical dance, while Russia’s National Ballet Company remains renowned worldwide — as well as upbeat nightlife, with some of the world’s most celebrated rooftop bars and nightclubs.

While it’s a city filled with opposites, there remains no shortage of things to do in Moscow for all types of travelers — from those who want cultural immersion to those looking for an epic night out, you’ll be spoiled for choice. And if you’re not sure where to start, here’s a list of suggestions!

The Moscow Kremlin

If there’s any particular district begging to be the first place you visit on your trip, it’s the Kremlin.

Built in the 16th century by Ivan the Terrible, the UNESCO-listed area has since become the heart of Russia’s capital city, where you’ll find several churches, palaces, and other noteworthy buildings.

We’ll dive into each of its main attractions in a second, but regardless of what you visit, try to make it to the Kremlin in time for sunset — because seeing its golden domes glinting in the late-afternoon light makes for one spectacular tourist photo!

1 – Admire the abundance of Kremlin towers | the Kremlin

Kremlin towers, Moscow

As your eyes dart down the towering red-brick Kremlin wall, the first thing you’ll notice is its large towers of all different styles and sizes.

With a whopping 20 separate minarets towering above the historic area, each with its own name, colors, features and history, a guided tour to learn each of their fascinating stories is a must.

To give you a little taste, the Konstantin-Yeleninskaya Tower once housed a torture chamber. Saviour’s Tower at the main entrance boasts a famous chiming clock, the Secret Tower houses a secret escape tunnel, and the Trinity Tower is the tallest of them all.

2 – Visit the enormous Grand Kremlin Palace | the Kremlin

Grand Kremlin Palace, Moscow

A remarkable attraction in terms of both beauty and history, the Grand Kremlin Palace is an ornate rococo-style building that was commissioned during the reign of Nicholas I, and today acts as the official residence of none other than the Russian president, Vladimir Putin.

Perched atop Borovitsky Hill, its 125-meter-long facade is unmissable, making for impressive photos.

Take note: guided tours are few and far between, so you’ll have to book a few weeks in advance if you want to check out the decorated inner sanctum.

3 – People-watch in Cathedral Square | the Kremlin

Cathedral Square, Moscow

One of the most popular areas in all of Moscow (sometimes called Sobornaya Square), with multiple massive churches at its heart, Cathedral Square is flanked by several historic buildings and is never shy of a tourist crowd.

The three main churches — each spectacular works of architecture in their own right — are the Cathedral of the Assumption (the oldest and the biggest of all Kremlin churches), the 16th-century Cathedral of the Archangel Michael (known for its beautiful Corinthian gables and turrets), and the golden-domed Cathedral of the Annunciation (which connects to the Grand Kremlin Palace’s main building).

Throw in the 60-meter-high Ivan the Great Bell Tower, the lesser-known Church of the Twelve Apostles , the Church of the Deposition of the Virgin’s Robe (underrated yet famous for its marvelous stained-glass windows), and the medieval residence-turned-museum that is The Patriarch’s Palace, and you can see why this square is regularly number one on any visitor’s list of things to do in Moscow.

4 – See a show at the State Kremlin Palace | the Kremlin

State Kremlin Palace, Moscow

Just like the Grand Kremlin Palace , this theater and prestigious concert hall — with its grandiose facade and multiple sculptures — is another ornate building that’s worth admiring.

A popular place to hold conferences, the State Kremlin Palace was originally built as part of a larger complex for Communist Party meetings, but today hosts some of the biggest events in Moscow — we’re talkin’ sold-old ballet performances, world-famous concerts, opera shows, and festivals.

Check the website to see what’s on the calendar for your visit!

5 – See centuries worth of national treasures at the Armoury Chamber | the Kremlin

Armoury Chamber, Moscow

For anyone with an interest in historical weaponry and armor, this museum — which dates back to the early 1500s when it was created as the royal armory — is a must-see.

The Armoury Chamber (as well as the Diamond Fund Exhibition) is home to some of the most valuable objects that were originally owned by Russian monarchs — from jeweled heirlooms and intricate boxes to ornately decorated pistols and swords — many of which are centuries old.

Within the armoury chamber, you’ll also find the Russian historical regalia, a collection of artifacts that belonged to Russian tsars and emperors between the 13th and 20th centuries, highlighted by the Ivory Throne and the Monomakh’s Cap.

6 – Step inside the Palace of the Facets | the Kremlin

Palace of the Facets, Moscow

The Palace of the Facets is one of the most underrated buildings in all of Moscow, largely because it’s not as widely promoted or photographed even though its exterior adorns some postcards.

From the outside, it blends in with the crowd. But step inside and you’ll discover a world of beauty and wonder — its frescoes, golden columns and enormous rooms are a sight to behold

The Palace of the Facets is not only a piece of art (literally, with painted walls), dating back over 500 years, but also acted as the dining hall for the Tsars.

7 – Feel small next to the Tsar Bell | the Kremlin

Tsar Bell, Moscow

Making Philadelphia’s famous Liberty Bell look diminutive in size, this monument , which never actually functioned as a bell due to its immense size (at 205 tons and standing 20.1 feet high!), has found fame in recent years for being the heaviest attraction inside The Kremlin.

With the bronze landmark’s claim to fame of being the biggest bell in the world, it presents as a great, quick photo op when roaming through the Kremlin.

8 – Check out the Senate Palace | the Kremlin

Senate Palace, Moscow

Another architectural masterpiece that’s tucked away within the Kremlin, this palace is famous for being one of Moscow’s most beautiful buildings — its yellow façade curves around to face inward and truly engulf anyone who stands near it.

Built back in the late 1700s, today it houses the Russian presidential administration and, unfortunately for us, is off limits to the general public.

Still, admiring it from outside, with the nearby Tsar Cannon, is certainly good enough.

9 – Grab a photo in front of the Tsar Cannon | the Kremlin

Tsar Cannon, Moscow

One of Moscow’s most iconic symbols, Tsar Cannon (or Royal Cannon) is a cannon that was manufactured in 1586 and resides — yep, you guessed it — within The Kremlin.

Following the theme of the enormous Tsar Bell, it weighs a whopping 39 tons — making it one of the world’s largest cannons even though it has never been shot.

And while its size may be impressive on its own, what makes this cannon so special is that it’s adorned with intricate carvings, ornaments, inscriptions, and a figure of a horse-riding Tsar Feodor the Bellringer.

10 – Join a tour of the Terem Palace | the Kremlin

Terem Palace, Moscow

A stunning, fairytale-like palace that’s steeped in history and detail, the five-story Terem Palace is one of the most underrated attractions within The Kremlin. However, as part of the official residence of the Russian President, much of it is off-limits to snap-happy tourists.

That said, there’s still plenty to be seen in the accessible areas by joining a group tour: a beautiful white-stone carved staircase; curved, decorated, and painted ceilings; and an enchanting low-vaulted Antechamber with lancet windows.

The Red Square

As we move away from the Kremlin, our next stop is the most photographed, picturesque public area in the country.

Flanked by gorgeous, colorful towers and buildings, the Red Square is the most famous square in all of Russia — and one that’s steeped in history, patriotism, and communist symbolism.

Home to some of Moscow’s greatest landmarks including St Basil’s Cathedral (featuring its iconic onion domes), Lenin Mausoleum, GUM department store (an architectural masterpiece that is the most famous shopping mall in Russia), The State History Museum, and more, it’s not just a sight to see in Moscow but also one that has been seen by hundreds of millions from around the world.

11 – Make your way inside St. Basil’s Cathedral | Red Square

St. Basil’s Cathedral, Moscow

Built back in the early 1500s, this quirky-looking, 65-meter-tall Orthodox church is so unique and detailed that it’s earned its place as one of 16 UNESCO cultural sites in Russia — and, thanks to many Hollywood productions like Bond: Skyfall (2012), has only continued to increase in fame.

Its exterior boasts multi-colored domes crowned with golden onion top spires. Meanwhile, inside, you’ll find nine small, separate chapels, and plenty of decorated walls and windows — all best viewed as part of a walking tour of Red Square.

  • Red Square tours in Moscow

12 – Visit the State Historical Museum | Red Square

State Historical Museum, Moscow

One of seven museums that can be found around the expansive Red Square, the State Historical Museum is one of Moscow’s most revered.

Housed in a neoclassical building (the same as GUM), it features more than 4 million items relating to Russian history — making it so vast and incredible that you’ll need at least two hours inside to see just a fraction.

While you’re in the area, be sure to check out the Marshal Georgy Zhukov Monument, a towering horse-riding statue of arguably the most famous and heroic Soviet military commander of WWII, which can be found in front of the museum.

13 – Shop till you drop at GUM | Red Square

GUM department store, Moscow

The official state department store of Russia, having opened in 1893 and become one of Moscow’s most iconic attractions for shopaholics over the years, is known for its gorgeous architecture that looks more like a palace than anything else.

Entering through its massive golden doors, you’ll be surprised to find an extensive shopping center with more than 100 luxury and world-renowned brands of clothing and accessories for men, women, and youngsters.

Even if you don’t plan on buying anything, stop into the Gastronom №1 for a bite to eat or take a stroll through its corridors to appreciate the building’s history and beauty.

14 – Visit Lenin’s Mausoleum | Red Square

Lenin's Mausoleum, Moscow

Another iconic Red Square attraction is Lenin’s Mausoleum, a small yet foreboding building that houses the embalmed corpse of Communist leader Vladimir Lenin (who led Russia through the Bolshevik Revolution of 1917).

Opened in 1930 after his death and standing at more than 12 meters tall, it presents as both a unique and macabre site — and, considering the life-like nature of the body, certainly isn’t for the faint of heart.

Note: Entrance is free of charge, but expect to be searched by security before being allowed in.

15 – Ride the Moscow Metro, enjoying the beautiful stations along the way

Moscow Metro, Russia

As we leave the Red Square, the next cab off the rank is Moscow’s unbelievable artistic Metro network (rivaled only in beauty by that of Stockholm). Constructed between the 1930s and 1950s, its stations were built by hand with a wide range of artistic themes — from socialist realist to Slavic pagan.

Tips: The best way to experience them is as part of a Moscow Metro tour, which can be booked online. However, if you prefer exploring solo, then make sure to visit the Mayakovskaya Metro Station which is known for its seemingly endless archways.

You may also check out Dostoyevskaya, named after a famous writer with murals depicting his stories. The Ploshchad Revolutsii Metro Station is another option where a handful of Socialist statues provide a wonderful contrast to the red marble arches.

16 – Spend the afternoon exploring the State Tretyakov Gallery

State Tretyakov Gallery, Moscow

Boasting the reputation of being one of the world’s leading art museums, the State Tretyakov Gallery is home to a stunning collection that features well over 100,000 works from Russia and around the globe.

Featuring everything from ancient Russian icons to Soviet-era artifacts and contemporary pieces, the museum also houses a charming green garden perfect for recharging.

Visitors are advised to allocate at least three hours inside to properly appreciate everything on show — or consider booking a private VIP tour to skip the lines and focus on the best sections.

17 – Get out of town to the Tsaritsyno Museum & Nature Reserve

Tsaritsyno Museum & Nature Reserve, Moscow

Located a short drive from the hustle and bustle of the Red Square, this incredible attraction is both a palatial museum and cultural center, with an enchanting open-air garden to boot — spread across 405 hectares altogether.

Boasting beautiful 18th-century baroque architecture, it was originally built as a country retreat for Catherine the Great. However, it has since been transformed into an outdoor museum with several museums inside — including exhibits dedicated to Russian history and culture.

18 – Tick off the main haunts with a hop-on hop-off bus ride

bus tours in Moscow

Short on time or just can’t be bothered walking around anymore? Then make sure to check out the double-decker Hop-on-Hop-off Bus, a convenient and cheap way of seeing all the main attractions in one go.

With unlimited-ride tickets lasting between 24 and 72 hours, there’s plenty of flexibility to soak in must-see areas like Red Square, the Kremlin, Arbatskaya Square, Theatre Square, and the Red October neighborhood — and with a free audio tour (in English) throughout the ride, you’re sure to learn a thing or two as well.

Busses usually run every 15 minutes, with the full city loop taking roughly an hour — of course, you can disembark and reboard to your heart’s content.

  • bus tours in Moscow

19 – Learn about military history on Poklonnaya Hill

Poklonnaya Hill, Moscow

For an up-close and personal experience with the past, make sure to check out Poklonnaya Hill — a UNESCO World Heritage Site about 20 minutes out from the city center that’s home to several relics from Russia’s pre-revolutionary era.

It has everything from Great Patriotic War memorials dedicated to fallen soldiers of the Russian military forces, to the Eternal Flame and the Museum of Great Patriotic War. This is an unmissable opportunity for history buffs.

Hot tip: While you’re in the area, be sure to stop into the Victory Museum (the nation’s biggest military history museum) and check out the gold-tipped Church of St. George the Victorious .

20 – Get artsy at the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts

Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts, Moscow

Home to one of the finest and most significant art collections in Russia, the highly-regarded Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts showcases everything from medieval icons and paintings. With over 500,000 pieces of works by renowned artists like Rembrandt, Renoir, Picasso, Matisse, Karl Bryullov and Rubens, the museum is undeniably one of the best things to do in Moscow for art lovers.

The museum also houses impressive exhibits dedicated to ancient Greece, archaeological collections, decorative arts and a 200,000-item Numismatic library.

21 – Take a charming stroll down Arbat Street

Arbat Street, Moscow

Boasting everything from galleries and craft stores to souvenir shops, cafes, and some of Russia’s finest restaurants and hotels — as well as top-notch street performers (like jugglers and caricaturists) — Arbat Street is one of Moscow’s most famous pedestrian hubs for good reason.

The entire walkway, flanked by colorful buildings, stretches about a kilometer through the historic district, making it the perfect start to any day of inner-city exploring.

22 – Lounge around at the Gorky Central Park of Culture and Leisure

Gorky Central Park of Culture and Leisure, Moscow

One of Moscow’s biggest and most beloved green spaces, Gorky Central Park is a must-visit for anyone looking to soak in some fresh air.

The park boasts 45 hectares of picturesque grassland, forests, Golitsinsky Ponds (home to squirrels and ducks), walking trails, fountains and the Neskuchny Garden. This place is also home to the wooden Olivkovy beach, a hot spot for photographers looking to appreciate the Moskva river.

Plenty of cafes line the well-manicured park, likewise public art projects and picnic spots and an open-air cinema in the summertime!

While a relaxing day in the gardens is never a bad idea, if you’re looking for something a little more interactive, there’s the 18-meter-tall Observation Platform and a handful of museums on site. The Gorky Park Museum , Muzeon Park of Arts , Garage Museum of Contemporary Art and New Tretyakov Gallery are all noteworthy stops within walking distance.

23 – Stare at the ceiling of the Christ the Savior Cathedral

Christ the Savior Cathedral, Moscow

On an easy stroll from the southwest side of the Kremlin, you’ll find a majestic memorial cathedral doused in history: the 5-golden-domed Christ the Savior Cathedral .

With a beautiful color-contrasting exterior that still falls short of the intricately painted inner walls and ceiling, this underrated (due to not being in Red Square with the other main cathedrals) attraction is a must for the bucket list.

24 – Zoom around town in a Soviet van

Soviet van tours in Moscow

If a hop-on-hop-off bus screams of cliche tourism, why not get a little more cultured by skirting around the city’s main haunts in a real, war-era soviet van?

Undeniably one of Russia’s most emblematic vehicles as both a symbol of a Soviet past and a comical cultural nod to its boring exterior (dubbed the “loaf of bread”), the UAZ-452 vans are iconic.

So whether you opt for a pub crawl, landmark sightseeing tour, or day of adventure with wintertime off-roading, be sure to ride shotgun in one of the loaves of bread at some stage!

37 – Grab a table at Café Pushkin

Café Pushkin, Moscow

A favorite of many Muscovites, Cafe Pushkin on Tverskoy Boulevard is an intimate spot to enjoy some authentic Russian dishes.

It’s hand-picked by locals for its traditional décor resembling a nobleman’s house and charming atmosphere (thanks largely to the rustic bookshelves). You’ll find that the menu consists mainly of classic European cuisine mixed with a few local favorites. It’s complemented by a wooden bar with a fine collection of vintage wines and regular live music.

38 – Spend the day at the Karibiya Aquapark

It’s famous for being home to one of Russia’s most important and sacred monasteries — the free-to-visit Trinity Lavra St. Sergius monastery complex.

42 – Take a walk through the Alexander Garden

Alexander Garden, Moscow

While the majority of Moscow’s other top attractions require a ticket or entry fee, there is at least one gem that doesn’t. It happens to be right on your doorstep if you’re staying anywhere near the Kremlin.

Alexander Garden (also known as Alexandrovsky Sad) is an expansive park that stretches the entire western wall of the Kremlin (nearly 1km in length). It’s filled to the brim with colorful flower beds, winding walkways and calming fountains.

Don’t miss the tomb of the Unknown Soldier while you’re there.

dog sledding in Moscow

Cliche? Sure, maybe a little. Seriously fun? You better believe it!

Winter is coming, and that means it’s time to get out there and experience Russia the way only locals can — by dog sledding.

Typically lasting seven or eight hours, these outdoor adventures (which include hotel pick up and drop off) are a wonderful way to experience nature and immerse yourself in ancient Russian traditions — and hang out with a handful of adorable huskies, of course!

Seriously though, this is one of those things you’re going to want photos (and videos) for when you get back home because, really, words just wouldn’t do it justice.

44 – Walk beneath the Iberian Gate and Chapel

Iberian Gate and Chapel, Moscow

Facing away from the Red Square and linking Manezhnaya Square, the Iberian Gate and Chapel (sometimes called the Resurrection Gate) is overflowing with history. It acts as the spiritual entrance to the Red Square and the home of the wooden chapel that houses icons of the Iberian Virgin.

Many believe it is customary to kiss the Iberian icon before entering the gate and for boys to take off their hats. For an insight into the local culture, join a walking tour and learn more about the gate’s significance to religion and history.

To add to the importance, the gate is also the location of ‘Kilometer Zero’ — the official central point of Moscow.

45 – Play all day at the Dream Island theme park

Dream Island, Moscow

After opening its gates early in 2020, Dream Island earned itself the coveted title of being the largest indoor theme park in Europe (yep, that means it’s even open in the harsh winter).

It’s a delight for kids and adults alike. Throughout the park you’ll find an array of rides themed around classic cartoons like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Pinocchio, the Smurfs, Hotel Transylvania and Hello Kitty. It also has charming and well-arranged streets that transport you to bustling cities like London and Barcelona!

Besides being the current home ground of Russia’s National Football Team, it also hosts concerts by some of the biggest international acts and was also the focal point of the 1980 Olympic Games.

If your trip doesn’t line up with any sellout matches, you can still join a backstage stadium tour that explores the dressing rooms, press conference room and the field.

At 374 meters tall and with 95 floors — and a wonderful restaurant on its 60th floor — the Moscow Federation Tower is a popular choice for tourists. Meanwhile, the 85th and 86th floor of the OKO Towers play host to a Russian restaurant and skating rink respectively.

Written By: Linda Voltaire

the very best things to do in moscow

Visiting Russia? These are the top 17 things to do in Moscow to help you plan your trip.

If the western world has New York City , the first great metropolis on the eastern side of our planet is Moscow. A huge city with a complicated and impressive history, Moscow gets a bad rep over Russian politics – but that doesn’t make it any less impressive. Capital to the largest country in the world, Moscow takes the grandeur of its standing very seriously.

This is a place where luxury is king and where opulence takes a front seat in every aspect of life. The buildings are grand and imposing, the parks are luscious and enormous, and even the subway stations look different in Moscow than anywhere else in the world.

Best Things to do in Moscow, Russia

Walking around Moscow is also going through the tumultuous history of the 20th century, which had Russia as one of its main protagonists. There are fascinating remains of these times everywhere in the former Soviet capital, from the gorgeous Seven Sisters skyscrapers to the Orthodox cathedrals that were closed for the better part of a century.  Still, Moscow is also a completely modern city, with a vibrant social and party scene, incredible restaurants, and some of the most luxurious hotels in the world.

After living in Russia’s capital as an ex-pat for four years, I got the privilege to experience not only the main attractions in Moscow but also the everyday life in this huge city and quickly found my sweat spots off the beaten tracks! So here is my list of my top 17 things to do in this exciting metropolis!

things to do in moscow russia | russian market

Attractions in Moscow

When visiting a famous city like this one, it’s a must to go through the most iconic landmarks first. Moscow has plenty of those, most of them in the center of the city, which is very well-planned for tourists.

1. The Red Square, Kremlin & Surrounding Area

moscow tourist attractions | St. Basil’s Cathedral

No place tells the story of Moscow’s power in the past century the way the Red Square does. This is where the biggest political meetings in the USSR occurred for many decades, and you can feel the power on each step.

Here, you’ll also find the historic museum at the entrance, showcasing the decades of history behind this iconic landmark. The Lenin Mausoleum, perhaps the most famous resting place in the world and home to the remains of the former communist leader, is also here.

On one side of the Red Square you’ll find the Kremlin, the fortified complex that now hosts the presidential residence. This is also home to the most iconic of all Moscovite landmarks: St. Basil’s Cathedral, a 16th-century marvel of colors. This is the best spot to take a selfie and show the world you’ve reached the Russian capital!

  • Get your Kremlin Skip the Line Tickets and Kremlin tour here.
  • Free cancellation up to 24-hours in advance of the tour.

2. Bolshoi Theatre

moscow things to do | bolshoi theatre

You can easily spend a couple of days just exploring the Moscovite city centre, and the Bolshoi Theatre should be your second stop. Walk past the Red Square and then head to the nearby Bolshoi Theatre, one of the oldest and most renowned houses of opera and ballet on Earth.

Visit for the impressive early 19th-century architecture, but if you’re seeing a ballet performance, make sure you book between 3 and 6 months in advance! I can strongly recommend this as it is a truly unique experience!

  • Book a private 2-hour tour of the legendary Bolshoi Theatre.
  • See the presidential box reserved for tzars, watch a rehearsal and skip the lines through a separate entrance.
  • Free Cancellation up to 24-hours in advance.

3. Luxury Shopping at GUM and TSUM

russia moscow sites | GUM

While many might think of Moscow as the sad place with the long bread queues from the USSR days, it’s been quite the capitalist haven for a while.

If you’re up for some shopping, you’ll find one of the biggest luxury malls in town, TSUM, right behind the Bolshoi and GUM, at the red square. GUM is the most famous department store in town, where you’ll find luxury everywhere and all high-end brand.

All in an imposing late 19th-century building with lots of history, worth a visit just for the design, its bridges and the glass roof even though you are not up for shopping!

4. Christ the Savior Cathedral

things to see in moscow | christ the savoir cathedral

A newer addition to the gorgeous Moscovite cathedrals and my grandeur neighbor during my years in the city Don’t let the young age of this building fool you. After the perestroika in the early 90s, the newly revived Russian Orthodox Church received permission to build a cathedral on this site. They did the location honors and built the largest temple of the Christian Orthodox Church.

The façade is as grand as you’d expect, but it’s the inside that will mesmerize you, with its domes as tall as the skies in bright gold and gorgeous paintings and decor! Bring a shawl to cover your hair to adjust to the local tradition.

Head to the back of the cathedral and you will find one of the most photographed bridges in Moscow, the Patriarshiy Most. This is the perfect spot to get a good view and photo of the cathedral but also to see the Kreml and Gorky Park from a distance. Or why not just enjoy a moment watching the river and its boats!

  • Get around Moscow with ease using the Hop On Hop Off boat and Bus ticket. 24, 48 or 72-hour tickets available.

5. Gorky Park

tourist attractions in moscow | gorky park

Cross the river and head to Gorky Park along the Moscow river. The most famous green area in town, similar to New York ’s Central Park and the weekend hangout for locals. There are many beautiful parks in the city, but if you’re only visiting for a few days, this is the unmissable one!

With fair attractions to entertain children, beautiful artificial lakes and gardens, and lots of outdoor activities, it’s a lovely place to relax. A place of rest in the middle of the metropolis. The area in front of the New Tretyakov Gallery & the Muzeon Park of Arts is actually one of my favorite oasis as a bit more quiet and peaceful than Gorky itself.

Why not spend some time in the museum to get a great tour of Russia’s history through art or just enjoy the art exhibition outside where local artists spend their weekends.

6. River Cruising

tourist attractions points of interest

One of the best ways to experience Moscow is from the Moscow River. There are many stops for the boats and one is just next to Gorky Park. See the city from another perspective – and turn the ride into a romantic one by taking the evening cruise. Moscow is magic during the night.

If you’re looking for a truly luxurious experience, take the Radisson Blu cruise – or the Erwin for a delicious seafood dinner. Both stop at Gorky or at the luxury Radisson Royal Hotel, set in one of the Seven Sister’s skyscrapers.

  • We use Get Your Guide when booking city tours and they offer a River Sightseeing Cruise seeing all the main tourist attractions in Moscow

7. Metro Hopping

unusual things in moscow | train station

First inaugurated in the 1930s, the Moscow subway system is one of the oldest in the world, and certainly the most beautiful. Started under Stalinist times, each metro station is dedicated to grandeur and oozing personality.

Visiting the subway stops is an attraction in and of itself, and Komsomolskaya, Mayakovskaya, Kropotkinskaya are my favorites. Those surrounding the Red Square are also mesmerizing – in general, these are kind of like underground palaces.

Most of the signs at the Moscow Metro now have Latin letters, so it’s very easy to get around!Unfortunately, the trains are not as beautiful and pleasant as the stations but still, this is a true Moscow experience.  Take a guided tour of the 9 most beautiful Metro Stations including the award-winning art deco station. See more details here.

8. Arbatskaya & Artsy Moscow

place to visit in moscow | arabatskaya

Novy Arbat Street is one of the most touristy areas in the city, with lots of shops and cafés directed at visitors. When you walk a little beyond, you’ll find a different part of town, where the hip scene thrives because so many artists live in the area. Just follow the small streets with fewer tourists!

9. Moscow State University View

moscow unique things to do | university

In his effort to create a grander Moscow, Stalin had seven skyscrapers built in different parts of town; they’re called the Seven Sisters. The largest of these buildings hosts the main building of the Moscow State University, one of the most prestigious colleges in Russia – and the one with the best view.

Although this is a little outside the city centre, the sight from above is more than worth it, with the nearby fountains and park and then the whole of the city behind them.

10. Russian Market

where to shop in moscow | russian market

If you love to visit markets wherever you go, Moscow has one of the most impressive ones in the world – the Izmailovsky. You can easily take the metro here and feel like you’ve been transported to another time.

This place was first built in the 16th century and retains the look of an old fairytale, with a lineup of colorful old castle. A lovely local experience beyond the confines of the bustling metropolis, where you can also try some delicious Russian barbecue.

Here, you’ll find beautiful souvenirs at great prices.

Off The Beaten Track Moscow

Once you’ve covered the most touristic spots, Moscow still has plenty to offer – and the places below will also be full of locals! Moscow is a city for hipsters, full of trendy and arty spots where you can literally feel the creativity oozing! So for some local vibes, I would strongly recommend my sweat spots below!

11. Patriarshiye Prudy

moscow unique things to do | patriarshy prudy

This is my favorite area in the entire city! While Moscow is generally a very noisy metropolis, Patriarch Ponds is far quieter, yet such a vibrant place. This is a very hip and trendy area making you think you are rather in Paris than in Moscow. Here the streets are narrow and full of chic eateries and clubs to see the local crowd.

A little bohemian and with an air of peace you won’t find anywhere in the city this is a great spot to spend an afternoon with your thoughts.

12. ArtPlay

museums in moscow | artplay

Barely 15 minutes away from the city center you’ll find the artsiest Moscow district: ArtPlay. For decades, this block was a factory, but it was renovated to become a hub for the arts not too long ago.

Now, you’ll find it’s full of exhibitions, showrooms and art schools – and some of the most creative people in town. Writers, painters, and young hip people use ArtPlay as a rendezvous, and you can feel the creative energy here. The industrial design with modern interior decoration is also a feast for the eyes!

13. Shopping Local Designs

moscow sightseeing | shopping district

If you’re into design, both international and local, you’ll find lots of cute things at Patriarshiye Prudy. Department store Podium Market is also a great spot for shopping, as a department store everywhere in town, with lots of local and international brands. There’s one in the Four Seasons Hotel next to Red Square. My favorite Moscow mall is Tsvetnoy Central Market, a cool spot with great brands, lots of inspo, and even a cute café!

14. Moscow City

modern skyscrapers of moscow

Like many other great capitals of the world, for the past few decades, Moscow has hosted a super modern area full of modern skyscrapers – Moscow City. With a completely different vibe than the rest of town, it’s like a mini Dubai, with lots of impressively tall glass buildings. Here, you’ll find the best rooftops in towns, such as Ruski and Sixty they are perfect spots for dining or enjoying a glass of wine with a view. There are also a relatively new shopping mall with lots of international brands called Affimall!

Wine, Dine, and Party in Moscow

view of moscow from ruski

Gone are the gloomy Moscow days – cold as it might be in the winter, Russia’s capital is a place for the senses. Great food and drinks abound – and the clubs are hot, too!

15. Where to Eat in Moscow

where to eat in moscow

Moscow is a great metropolis where people love to dine out, and there are endless options for delicious food. The flavors are as diverse as you’d expect from a big city, with options of fine dining and little hipster eateries.

  • For traditional Russian flavors, I can’t recommend Café Pushkin, Dr. Zhivago, and Turnadot enough.
  • When looking for international cuisines, Italian is always the way to go, and my local favorite is Probka.
  • Fine dining is best done among the clouds at White Rabbit, with European flavors.
  • As for the hip spots, you can spend a full day just eating around trendy places, from burgers to Asian fusion.

More Dining Options

  • Patriarshiye Prudy offers a lot of small and classy spots with cool concepts, like breakfast restaurants I Love Cake and Fresh.
  • For dinner, I love the NYC experience of Saxon & Parole, and the wonderful trendy Pins, with its delicious food and drinks.
  • For delicious Asian food head to CutFish.
  • Lastly, there’s a recent revival of food markets in Moscow, offering lots of great choices of international flavors at affordable places.
  • Don’t miss out the Vietnamese food stand at the Danilovsky market, and everything at Usachevsky!

16. Rooftopping

things to do in moscow russia | city scape

Big cities deserve to be seen from above, having a cocktail among the clouds. These are my recommendations for rooftop bars in Moscow.

  • As I mentioned in the Moscow City section, Sixty & Ruski are two of my favorites, overlooking the newest part of town.
  • White Rabbit and its fine dining is also a lovely place for a fun dinner looking down on Moscow.
  • O2, in the city center, has an advantage above all others: amazing views of the Red Square.
  • Buono, above the Radisson Royal Hotel, might be the most romantic rooftop hotel in town, with its candlelit setting.
  • Also on the Radisson stands the Mercedes. It’s a luxurious and posh experience with delicious cocktails.
  • The Sky Lounge offers a peculiar experience, mixing an old Soviet building with futuristic additions.

17. Moscow by Night

must do in moscow | moskva river

Party the night away! The city is full of bars everywhere, but there are some areas where you’ll find more than others.

  • Patriarshiye Prudy has lots of hip and small clubs and great bars, including the super fun private club Clava, which has a great vibe and people from all walks of life.
  • For more hipster style bars, Red October is the place to go.
  • Streak is a summer favorite, with a lovely terrace to catch a beautiful sunset – plus, their mozzarella bar is delicious.
  • At night, Red October lights up with clubs everywhere, including the cool rooftop one Gipsy.
  • Jagger is also a great spot during summer with a more relaxed vibe in garden setting.
  • For the traditional Russian luxury experience, go to SohoRooms, a whole other world including all-night go-go dancers.

There are so many things to do in Moscow at night and during the day, you definitely need several days to explore this exciting destination.

Moscow is a must-see city, a city like no other ! I hope you will enjoy this Russian metropolis as much as I did!

These places look so awesome! Moscow is truly a beautiful city

Very good article, you have explained so nicely. Russia has always been a part of history and its good to know about much more about architecture and other things, wish i could see the inside of façade

Thanks for sharing such a nice article. You have very beautifully explained everything that one need for a trip to Moscow.

Nice article. Love the hidden gems and graffiti art, would love to visit Artplay. Thanks for a comprehensive guide to Moscow!

Moscow is a city where the past and the future live side by side. Here we can find everything from medieval fortresses and Soviet monoliths to glass skyscrapers and innovation centers.

Your article is good and meaningful .

Thanks for sharing about ArtPlay district, we didn’t know about it and it looks amazing 🙂 Hopefully there’ll be a second time in Moscow, we visited last May and really liked the city!

Wonderful stuff! I’ve been to Moscow, but not properly – it’s a long story lol!

Anyhoo, my next thing is to fly from Berlin to Moscow and then travel from there to Beijing via the Trans-Mongolian / Trans-Siberian train. Now, if only I could just find the time …!

I hear Moscow is very beautiful at night. I hope to get out there one day. A friend of mine went to St. Petersburg and had a great experience. Despite all the tension we see on the news with Russia and other Countries like the U.S. I wonder what the sentiment is with Russians and foreigners visiting their country for tourism. Especially Americans.

that looks like quite a beautiful place. 🙂
