Koufonisia, meaning “Hollow islands” consist of two small islets Pano (upper) and Kato (lower) Koufonisi. Kato Koufonisi is an uninhabited island accessible only by boat. This hidden gem has some of the most magnificent beaches in Greece, offering a range of secluded harbors to enjoy in privacy. With only 400 inhabitants, Pano Koufonisi, is a tiny island where it seems that time has stopped. Pori is the most beautiful beach on the island; enjoy a great lunch at taverna Kalofeggo.

Milos, is a volcanic island with unique geological and rock formations and stunning beaches with turquoise waters. It has one of the best harbors in the Medietreranean sea, which was formed when the sea broke into the volcano’s crater on the island’s north-west side. Kleftiko and Sarakiniko are the island’s most famous beaches. Kleftiko used to be an old pirate hide-out and can only be reached by boat.

Rising brusquely from the Aegean Sea, the island of Santorini is surrounded by steep cliffs, 1.000 feet high, resulting from one of the biggest volcanic eruptions ever recorded  in history, which made a circular island into a crescent that wraps around a caldera crowned with whitewashed settlements that cling to their tops and trail down their sides. Santorini is situated at the most southern point of the Cyclades in the Aegean Sea and is probably the most famous of the islands.

Santorini, considered one of the most romantic places on earth,  is famous for its incredible sunsets, fine wine and breath-taking views and is certainly a must destination for a yacht charter. The island has some of the most unique beaches in Greece, including “Red Beach” a pebbly beach with a stunning red backdrop and  “Kamari” characterized by its impossibly black sand.

Oia is the most famous village in Santorini, known for its quiet life and stunning sunsets. This complex of charming houses in narrow streets, blue domed churches, and sun-bathed verandas  is carved right on the cliffs and visitors will enjoy walking around the picturesque village admiring the traditional Greek architecture, cafes and tourist shops. Oia has several cultural attractions, including the Maritime museum, and one can easily distinguish between the houses built for Venetian sea captains and the more traditional “cave houses” of the villagers. Oia also has a small port called Ammoudi, which can be reached by a set of 300 steps leading down.

Firá, the Santorini’s picturesque capital, Imerovigli and Firostefani are other beautiful villages, perched on the caldera, that are certainly worth the visit. Getting around the island is quite easy. You can rent a car or you can take the rare chance to travel around the island by donkey.

Visitiong Santorini

Enjoy the magnificent view at Franco’s bar in the town of Fira while listening to classical music and venture to the famous taverna “Metaxi mas” in one of the most graphic villages of the island called Exo Gonia; for many this is the best restaurant on the island. For those looking to dance the night away until the early morning hours, “Enigma” club is the most famous night club of the island with an incomparable view. There is nothing better than watching the sun rise while enjoying a drink.

Thirasia & Aspronisi

Just a few miles away  you can find two tiny islands called Thirasia and Aspronisi, which are part of a volcanic crater that emerged from the sea. Thirasia is serene and undeveloped and untouched by tourism to this day. It is characterized by narrow streets, colourfully painted blue, green and yellow houses and plenty of flowers that have been planted throughout. The capital, Manolas, is situated right opposite Santorini and has a beautiful monastery called Koimiseos from which visitors can enjoy a magnificent view. Apsronisi, literally meaning “white island’, is a small rocky uninhabited private island. It has two pebbly beaches and a small harbor, and as it is not visited by tourist boats, can make for a beautiful secluded anchorage.

Nea Kameni, meaning “new” and Palea Kameni, meaning “old” are two small islets in the center of the caldera of Santorini and are considered the youngest volcanic islands in Greece. Both islands are completely covered in volcanic stone. Visit Nea Kamani to view the volcano’s crater, a short twenty minute walk from the harbor. At  Palea Kameni you can swim in the hot springs; the water’s temperature is around 33 Celcius and contains sulfur, known for its skin benefits.

The cosmopolitan island of Mykonos is located in the heart of the Cyclades Islands in the Aegean sea and could be a yachting destination all on its own. The island is home to some of the most beautiful beaches in Greece, countless restaurants ranging from well known brands to simple tavernas, and numerous bars and nightclubs to enjoy until the early morning hours. Mykonos is the ideal yacht charter holiday destination and can be enjoyed by people of all ages and preferences.

Mykonos town, also known as Chora, is a typical Cycladic village built amphitheatrically, with a maze of narrow streets leading to the sea. It features the typical architecture of the Cyclades with whitewashed cubic houses that beautifully contrast with their colored wooden doors and windows. The heart of the town is  only accessible to pedestrians making the walk among the labyrinth streets particularly agreeable.

Exploring Mykanos Town (Chora)

Chora has numerous cafes, bars, night clubs, chich boutiques and jewelry stores. Iconic landmarks include the 16th century windmills and the Little Venice area. Watch a stunning sunset from  Galleraki Bar in Little Venice, while sipping on its  famous melon daiquiri called Katerinaki. Sea Satin restaurant, located right below the town’s windmills, is a great choice for enjoying a traditional Greek dinner and dancing on tables. Mykonos is known for its vibrant night life. Visitors can enjoy cozier bars  as well as large dance clubs that attract world-known DJs and will stay open till the early morning hours.

Exploring Mykonos

Ornos bay is a good location to anchor your yacht and use as a base for exploring the island. Kalo Leivadi, Elia beach and Psarrou are some of the most popular and beatiful beachhes in Mykonos. Agios Sostis, another stunning bay, has one of the most picturesque restaurants on the island called Kiki’s taverna, that is certainly worth the wait. Delos & Rineia

Just a few miles away from Mykonos is the tiny, uninhabited island Rineia. Accessible only by boat, the islet has beautiful sandy beaches and stunning clear waters. • Best Local Dish:  The cooking methods and cuisine of Greece have changed little over thousands of years, creating flavours that are as ancient and lasting as the ruins. Try a Spanakopita for a simple, delicious lunch from a traditional taverna.

Dodecanese Islands

There are 6 beds in total, including 2 queen, 2 doubles and 2 singles. She is also capable of carrying up to 5 crew onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht charter experience.

The Aegean Islands are the closest archipelago to the Greek capital of Athens, making a land-based tour of the historic city an option at either the beginning or the end of your yacht charter itinerary. Explore the Parthenon and Ancient Agora before embarking at the marina of Piraeus, which is within easy cruising distance of the Aegean archipelago.

Ancient ruins are available for exploring on many of the islands, only without the long lines and waits that accompany more famous sites in Athens. On Aegina, for instance, a beautifully preserved temple awaits. With no more than a handful of people at a time, you may approach the standing columns and marble steps just as the sandal-footed worshippers did centuries ago.

The Aegean island of Hydra offers one of the most picturesque harbors in the whole of the  Eastern Mediterranean , with just a handful of spots at the quay for megayachts to tie up. Watch with an eagle-eye view from the sun deck as the captain and crew manoeuvre your charter yacht into the bustling harbor, with traditional fishing boats zipping to and fro. Step off the yacht’s passerelle and meander the narrow alleyways where donkeys and mules replace cars as the source of transportation. Stop for a feta and tomato salad in a local café, sip on a shot glass filled with the local favorite known as ouzo, or climb the seemingly endless stone steps that lead high above the marina for a spectacular view of the sunset.

The Greek cruising area offers about 2000 islands and 10,000 nautical miles of coastline. Famous for their tradition of a glamorous & vivid nightlife , Greece is one of the few countries in the world where the party goes on till morning. Athens: The name of Greece’s capital derives from the name of the Goddess of wisdom and intelligence, Athena. This unique city is where democracy first saw the light of day, and where the Parthenon, the gem of architecture, was built. Today, about a third of the population of Greece (around 4,5 million people) live in Athens, and the modern city offers an endless variety of culture and entertainment.

Two hills lie at the heart of the city, one surmounted by the Acropolis and the monuments of Perikles, and the Lykabettus hill with the small white church Agios Georgis. Plaka and Monastiraki, the city quarter around the Acropolis hill, is a tourist highlight with narrow alleyways and attractive squares, which show the city’s romantic side. In summer the streets are full of bustling activity, in the most picturesque of settings. Kolonaki, the quarter around the Lykabettus hill, is typical of modern city life with its elegant boutiques and numerous cafés.

We strongly advise you to spend a day or two in Athens, in order to view its many attractions such as the Apterous Nike temple, the Dionysus Theatre, the Odeon of Atticus and the House of Music, which should not be missed.

Piraeus, Athens’ harbour, is one of the largest shipping junctions in the Mediterranean, as it has been since ancient times. It has made quite a name for itself amongst travellers to Greece, due to its attractive nightlife and its romantic seafood restaurants and taverns.

The coast from Piraeus to Kalamaki is lined by high-rise apartment buildings. During the hot summers, the nightlife moves from the city to this coastal strip and its numerous beach clubs and restaurants.

About 20 inhabited islands rise from the eastern Aegean Sea, within easy reach of the Turkish coast. The mild winters and dry summers provide the Dodecanese islands with one of the healthiest climates of the entire Mediterranean and allow voyages during the winter and even around Christmas. Besides the well known islands, such as Rhodes, Kos and Lesvos, the islands have not so far been developed for tourists.

Rhodes is the largest of the Dodecanese, with a charming and varied landscape. It is more fertile than most of the other Dodecanese, and is also known as the “Island of the Sun”. Rhodes has marvellous beaches and famous historical sites, plus an international airport.

Rhodes – city: The lively capital not only has a very charming old center with medieval city walls and a picturesque life, but also modern hotels, numerous shops and intense nightlife, which will delight any night owl.

Mandraki – the port of Rhodes, base on Rhodes:

The popular harbour is located a small distance from the city, and is easily identifiable by a small fort with a lighthouse and three windmills on the jetty. A large part of the Eastern quay, as well as the larger part of the city quay in the South Eastern corner, is reserved for charter boats. In summer you will often have to moor three boats deep from the quay.

The harbour is well protected from all sides, and the bottom provides a good hold. In the summer, many boats avoid the busy harbour and anchor on the Eastern side of Mandraki, where they are harboured from the summer winds. However, in these areas the sea is churned up by the passing ferries. The harbour is well equipped for repairs and can provide all necessary supplies.

Kos, a very fertile island, lies between the Myndus peninsula in the North and the fingers of the Turkish coast in the South. In many ways, Kos has a surprising resemblance to Rhodes, with its green hillsides, large hotels and busy harbour dwarfed by a Knight’s Castle. It is, however, much quieter than its large neighbour to the South, although there is an international airport on the island.

Kos – city:

Both Turkish and Medieval, as well as Italian architecture still dominate the cityscape of Kos. There is a lively hustle and bustle around the numerous taverns, cafés, and shops. The climate is very agreeable, since the heat of the summer is pleasantly reduced by the Meltemi.

Kos – the port of Kos, base on Kos:

If you are coming from the North or the West, it is easiest to find the harbour by using the large brown hotel as a reference point, as it can be seen from a long way away. If you arrive from the East or the South, it is best to orientate yourself using the minaret of the city. If the strong Meltemi is blowing, it will be noticeable in the harbour. The bottom provides a good hold. You can get petrol in town, and it can be also be delivered quayside. There are facilities for repairs, and all supplies are readily available.

In Greece, one of the most popular sailing areas are the Cyclades. This group of islands, which is situated in the Aegean Sea is made up of 56 islands of various sizes. A popular destination with island-loving tourists and yachtsmen alike is Mykonos, but you can also find more unspoilt islands. Just South of Cape Sounion there are a couple of islands that are far more removed from mainstream tourism, and thus a lot quieter.

The landscape varies from island to island, but is generally quite barren.

The climate is dominated by a Northerly wind, which blows weakly in May and June, but can be quite strong in July and August. Even around Christmas, the temperature still climbs to 16 – 20 degrees.Due to its warmer climate, this area is be particularly recommended for March, April, September and October, when it is much colder in central and western Europe.

Syros, Ermoupoli, Finikas:

Syros, which lies in the heart of the Cyclades, has one of the most jagged rocks in the North, and more gentle ranges of hills in the South. The prehistoric digs and the rock walls inscribed during Roman and Byzantine times, in the North-East of the island, are worth a trip.

The most beautiful beaches of the island are located in the more densely populated south and west of the island near Galissas, Possidonia, Vari, in Finikas Bay, near Kini, and Megas Gailos. Syros is well developed for tourists, and getting supplies is easy compared to more remote islands. You can travel to the island on a domestic flight, or aboard the ferry from Piraeus (3.5 hours).

Ermoupolis – Capital of Syros:

Ermoupolis, capital and port of Syros is also the uncontested capital of the entire Cyclades. This lively city, full of cafés and taverns, captivates with classical buildings, imposing old houses and the typical snow white homes of the Cyclades, which stretch from the surrounding hills right up to the harbour. The old city of Ano Syros, which lies a little higher up, has narrow alleyways and countless steps and still looks exactly like a medieval town.

Finikas – Finikas harbour and base on Syros:

Finikas port is located in a harboured inlet on the South Western side of Syros. Just off the coast lies the islet of Psthonisis. At night, the bay is illuminated by the lighthouse on the Dimitra Rock. The best anchoring grounds can be found in the North or the South of the bay. In the North eastern corner, which protects well against the Meltemi, there is a short pier with a water depth of 3 metres.

There is water supply and showers in the harbour, and there are a couple of hotels and taverns on the coastline. To obtain supplies and fuel you would have to travel about one kilometre. The port in the South Eastern corner is military terrain.

Sporades: Skiathos, Alonissos, Skopelos, Skyros

IONIAN ISLAND- LEFKAS, CORFU, KERKIRA, GOUVIA: North of Evia, and away from the usual sailing routes, lie the green islands of the Sporades. All the islands are fertile, gentle, and idyllic, being known for their white beaches and rich under water fauna. Those islands that are more readily accessible have developed into popular holiday destinations.

Peace and quiet is the trademark of Alonissos, the tree-covered Skopelos, Peristera (with just 25 inhabitants), the uninhabited Psathura, Palagonisi, and Skyros in the South. Alonissos stretches out quite far and along with the islands just off its coast makes up the “Sea Park”, a natural reserve that is home to the Mediterranean seal and dolphins. The islands are very closely grouped, being about 15 to 20 nautical miles apart, and are thus an ideal area for family holidays and inexperienced yachtsmen.

The prevailing wind in the summer is the “Meltemi”, blowing from the Northeast, Force 3-4, although occasionally in July and August wind blows stronger from a North-West direction with a force 4-6 and dies at the end of September.

The Sporades Islands hug the east coast of central Greece. Beautiful white sandy beaches, unspoiled anchorages, ancient ruins and abundant sea life, will offer you a sense of exploration and independence. The Pagasitikos Gulf is ideal for relaxed sailing, as the sea is relatively calm, with gentle winds that are channelled down from Pelion. Sailing here will give you the opportunity to discover the captivating beauty of its many unspoilt bays, with their teal-coloured waters.

SPORADES ISLANDS

Built in 2008 and remodeled in 2016, the 76-foot vessel sleeps eight in four cabins. It also has room for three crew members.

On the pricier side at $29,000, a week will cost each person nearly $3,700 — worth it if you can show off that once-in-a-lifetime catch, though!

Barefoot sport fishing yacht

Giving us some real Orca energy, the Barefoot sport fishing yacht was built in 2006 — much later than that famed vessel from "Jaws."

The 64-foot boat is designed for fishing in shallower waters, perfect for you and five friends who will share three cabins. Two crew members can fit, too.

This yacht is cheaper than the Astrape at $17,500, so six folks will pay just under $3,000 a head per week.

Prenses Lila gulet yacht

Gulet yachts are known for their tall masts, ample deck space, and Turkish origins — perfect for a Mediterranean voyage.

To that end, the Prenses Lila is an excellent option for groups of 18. At 114 feet with eight cabins and space for five crew members, this boat beckons.

Dreamland gulet yacht

The second gulet yacht and the final boat we’re covering is Dreamland, which will surely take you there. 

Constructed in 2006, 12 guests can sleep in six suites on this 105-foot vessel as well as five crew members.

You can book Dreamland for around $26,000 in high season. Divide that by 12, and you land on about $2,200 per person. That might require some financial fitness , but yachts like this don’t come around every day.
