Hanse Yachts actually began as an old shipyard in Greifswald, a centuries old city in northeastern Germany that has roots as an important boatbuilding city in the 1800's. A new yard was built in 1990, now the modern facility where Hanse sailboats are built, but kept ties to the old Greifswald traditions. Many of the craftsmen and skilled workers there today are part of families who have generationally been employed at Greifswald. The very first Hanse to be built was the 291 which set the foundation for the successful future Hanse would see.

Judel/vrolijk and Company are the designers for Hanse Yachts. Known as some of the most influential naval architects in the sailing yacht industry, Judel/vrolijk and Co. have roots in racing. As chief designers for the America's Cup team Alinghi, they played a major role in helping a European vessel win the most prestigious sailing trophy for the first time ever. Every design they begin is a product of a 15 member Think Tank that collectively create new models using the most cutting-edge technology.

Our sailing yacht AMAZONE is 10.50 m long, 3.20 m wide and has a draft of 1.65 m. She was built in 1971 and with the hull no. 79 the first HANSEAT 70 of this series from the Asmus shipyard. The Hanseat 70 was built in four different versions. The prototype has the hull number 71.

Used boat test of our Amazone

In the issue 10/2009 of the magazine “Yacht” a detailed used boat test of our “AMAZONE” is published. On 15.09.2008 the editors Dr. Lasse Johannsen and Martin-Sebastian Kreplin (as photographer) from the magazine “Yacht” as well as Mr. Heiner Asmus ( † 2015 ) from HANSEAT Yacht-Service were on board.

Our HANSEAT 70 was built by the former Asmus shipyard in Glückstadt. After the insolvency of the Asmus shipyard, the newly founded Hanseat Yacht-Service GmbH was able to offer comprehensive services for the owners of the HANSEATEN and other yachts. Since the end of 2014 the company has unfortunately ceased to exist. For the exchange of experience, especially regarding special spare parts, there is a WhatsApp group to which we can contact if required.

What are the features of our “Amazone” for a long distance trip and what equipment is sold with it?

I. hull construction.

• Moderate long keel for calm sea behaviour
• No keel bolts that could leak, because the lead ballast is inserted into the hull
• Completely solid GFK hull material (18 mm thick in the water pass area)
• Water tank (250 l) and diesel tank (120 l) below the floor boards
• Stainless steel rudder protected by a stainless steel skeg
• Tiltable cutter stay with ratchet tensioner
• To protect the hull another teak rubbing strake with brass rail

When we collided with a sleeping whale a good 200 miles off Bermuda at a speed of 6 knots, we were very happy that we were able to continue sailing without damage despite the popping of our rudder on the whale. Thanks to the solid construction!

II. Cutter Rig and Sails

The retrofitted cutter stay (7 mm) is hooked onto the lower shroud and can be easily mounted with the Wichard quick release skewer. Depending on the wind, the not yet used bright orange storm jib (6 sqm), the self-tacking jib (18 sqm) or the Genoa III (28 sqm) can be driven on the cutter stay. Under normal wind conditions the furling genoa (36 sqm) is used on the Harken furling system. For optimal UV protection it is covered with a hose in the harbour. Four jib tracks and two 46 and two 40 mm winches are available for headsail trimming. Two mainsails are available: 1 x with two reef rows (23 sqm) and 1 x with three reef rows (22 sqm)

III. Slack Valve

The Volvo D2-40F with 27 KW/37PS is used in calm conditions, commissioned in April 2018 and guaranteed until April 2020, and is equipped with a SPW controllable-pitch propeller overhauled in 2018 so that it does not brake when sailing. For smooth running it is mounted on rubber bearings and connected to the shaft with a Combiflex coupling.

IV. Crew Members Peter and Ray

To relieve the strain on the regular crew, Peter (Windpilot Pacific by Peter Foerthmann) is used under sails and Ray (Raymarine Autopilot SPX-5) under motor.

V. Comfortable Anchor Gear for a Peaceful Sleep at Anchor

The electric 1000 W anchor winch, 8 mm chain (60 m hot-dip galvanized with increased breaking load 50 kN from Kettenfabrik Unna), 22 kg ploughshare stainless steel anchor and 15 kg Rocna anchor. Alternative to galvanized chain: 50 m stainless steel chain

VI. Pepped up Equipment

The vinyl plates in the interior area in front of the insulated hull surfaces were replaced by varnished floor plates. Also renewed: upholstery, saloon table top, wardrobe doors, doors from the companionway, gas stove, tiller chart table top, pantry coating. The 2 m long berths in the saloon are equipped with sailclothes for sleeping on the way. For safe entry and exit the economy steps on the companionway have been replaced by two wide teak steps. The splash cap, sail dress and cake stall have been supplemented by a bimini for sun and rain protection. Chrome plated windows were newly chromed and anodized windows were newly anodized. On the outside the plexiglass pane in the sliding hatch and the teak panels in the cockpit were replaced. The weathered mahogany handrails on the cabin roof were replaced by easy-care teak handrails. Also easy to clean is our foot rail, which was only delivered with the prototype and our Hanseat 70 made of teak instead of mahogany. The mast was completely overhauled, painted and equipped with new shrouds and stays in 2010. The putting-up brackets and the complete railing with feet were renewed in 2006.

VII. Navigational Carefree Package

For perfect orientation at night and in fog, the 8″ plotter displays detailed C-Map map information as well as RADAR signals and AIS symbols. For collision prevention, a wide range of alarm functions can be switched on and other ships can be called at any time by VHF radio with DSC for course coordination. To prevent avoidable seagoing vessels from getting too close, the AIS transponder transmits the position, course and speed of the “Amazon” to all vessels within a radius of up to 30 nautical miles. For emergency reporting there is not only an emergency button on the radio, but also a PAN-PAN reporting button for the AIS transponder. A NASA Clipper 147 weather receiver is permanently switched on, which records national and international weather and warning messages that can be called up at any time.

VIII. Independent Energy Supply

As sources for our energy needs of our navigation electronics, windlass with 1.000 W, and our crew member Ray (autopilot) we have a solar panel with 50 W and the alternator of the engine with 120 W. In addition we have a 20 ampere and a 40 ampere charger.

It is also possible to mount the existing equipment carrier for additional antennas, for a 100 W solar module and for a wind generator. For the circuits, which can also be interconnected as required, capacities for the following batteries are available: Starter battery 1 x 90 Ah, acid closed Consumer battery bank 2 x 180 Ah, acid open Additional consumer battery bank 2 x 150 Ah AGM Two battery monitors are used to monitor the battery banks.

IX. Rounded Safety

The mentioned equipment features already show a very high degree of safety of our “Amazon” in relation to other ships, where the one or other equipment feature is missing. Nevertheless a worst case like fire or water ingress can never be excluded. Therefore we have different types of fire extinguishers and a fire blanket as well as an electric and a manual bilge pump on board. Finally, if nothing else helps, we have our dinghy and a 4 person life raft (maintenance expired in 2016) with an additional emergency bag. For personal safety there are safety lines and eyes for hooking on board.

Sailing yacht TIGA BELAS (ex HANSEAT IV) is a 24.60m (80’8”) sailing yacht built by Austral yachts in 2000 and refit in 2022 (Removed shaft, replaced cutlass bearing / Hundested rebuilt pitch control unit / New Generator: 18kva Whisper Generator / New Tender: 5.5m tender with a 20hp engine / New rigging (winter 2022-2023)), as the result of careful planning and design by the famous design studio of Bill Dixon Yacht Design. S/Y TIGA BELAS boasts a classic appearance and a beautiful sheer line.

The TIGA BELAS sailing yacht was created to be an uncompromisingly comfortable, easy to handle, safe and well performing sloop of the highest standard in respect to construction, materials and equipment. Germanischer Lloyd attested her to the highest class for hull, materials, engine spaces and mast/rigging.

An extremely rigid hull construction with a 45 mm red cedar core and multiple inner and outer layer of epoxy GRP was chosen for TIGA BELAS. The outer layer was additionally fitted with 1,5 layers of Kevlar for improved impact resistance. Structural members such as keelson, engine beds and mast step were constructed in solid mahogany and epoxy GRP coated.

The interior is tasteful and classic panelled in American Cherry with maroon leather couches in the upper saloon and fabrics from France and the USA in the lower saloon. The lower or dining saloon offers a cosy space to read or entertain friends or dine in style. The upper salon is also a comfortable area, perfect for enjoying the surrounding environment while under sail.

The Burmese teak decks provides safe working space and storage-lockers and also houses the two reel winches for the main halyard and the staysail sheet. A spacious cockpit provides ample space to work with no ropes or winches interfering. Two wheels and two consoles provide excellent stations to navigate from with all instruments available in multiple numbers.

The obvious place onboard to enjoy is the spacious cockpit. The cockpit table allows 8 charter guests to dine under a sunroof, which furls out of the boom and is fixed to the telescopic stanchions of the sea railing. A cockpit fridge ensures drinks are always chilled and ready at hand. A huge aft deck allows space to sunbathe or fish with two fishing rods. At night a swim with the surrounding water being illuminated by underwater lights gives an extra thrill to the guests.

The yacht is easy to manoeuvre in the narrowest marinas thanks to a variable controllable pitch propeller and a 45 Hp Bowthruster. To motor over longer distance is powerful, yet smooth with noise levels in owner’s cabin below 45 db and in saloons around 55 db. Cruising speed at economical consumption is around 8 kn and 3900 ltr of fuel give a considerable range under engine of about 2500 nm.

TIGA BELAS has a mainsail, which is operated by the Leisure Furl patented carbon boom and can be hoisted hydraulically either by 24 V battery power or by PTO connected to the main engine in a matter of only 1.5 minutes. The fully battened sail with a considerable broach shows an excellent shape even in reefed condition. Reefing is merely a matter of pushing a button. The Genoa, also furled by the push of a button, just like the self-tacking staysail are efficient and provide an excellent forward trust to the yacht. The rainbow-coloured APC (MPS) of 406 sqm is stowed in a sleeve, which makes hoisting an easy exercise.

She is an admirable yacht offering a pleasant and safe sailing in all conditions. She has a professional and friendly young crew and is available in the Mediterranean for sailing yacht charters.

Hanse Fast Cruising

Hanse ist seit Jahren ein Trendsetter, wenn es darum geht, das Segeln mit Einfachheit und Schnelligkeit zu verbinden. Hanse Easy Sailing

Das Segeln auf Hanse Segelyachten ist, dank der Selbstwendefock und der Tatsache, dass Fallen, Schoten und alle anderen Segelsteuerungen bis zu den Seilwinden, die sich neben den Steuerständen befinden, geleitet werden, unglaublich einfach. Hier spricht man nicht nur von Befestigen und Lösen, da sich die Segel vom Steuerstand auch kürzen lassen. Alles kann einfach vom Lenkrad aus erledigt werden.

Die Hanse Segelyachten können problemlos mit einer kleinen Besatzung oder sogar im Alleingang gesegelt werden. Neben der guten Segelperformance legt Hanse großen Wert auf ein vereinfachtes Handling ihrer Yachten. Northrop & Johnson sells sailing yacht Hanseat IV with Haas International

Manfred Haas at Haas International tells me he's sold the 24.6m sailing yacht Hanseat IV with Simon Turner at Northrop & Johnson representing the buyer.

Built by New Zealand yard Austral Yachts to a design by Dixon Yacht Design, she was launched in 2001 and refitted in 2012. A cutter rigged sloop, her classically-styled cosy interior in American cherry wood and maroon leather sleeps up to seven guests in three cabins. These are arranged as a master suite and two doubles pus a Pullman berth, and all have en suite shower facilities.

A favoured spot is her spacious guest cockpit with alfresco dining for eight under a sun roof which furls out from the boom. The separate steering cockpit has ample space to work without ropes or winches getting in the way.

Hanseat IV was asking €950,000.
