Sunreef 100 Sail Catamaran

For Sunreef Yachts, size matters. Over the past few years, the Polish shipyard has steadily been bolstering its fleet with large and luxurious catamarans. The latest one spans a lofty 100 feet.

Nicknamed the “mega-cat,” the Sunreef 100 was designed in-house and joins the yard’s ever-expanding line of sailing multihulls that runs the gamut from a nimble 50-footer all the way up to a spacious 80-footer . Sunreef says its newest craft is made for cruising worldwide in total luxury, and judging by its specs, it’ll have plenty of room to accommodate the high life.

The spacious interior is fully customizable, of course.  Sunreef Yachts

The vessel’s 42-foot beam creates an impressive living space that measures just shy of 4,700 square feet. The customizable interior features luxe accommodation for 12 guests and owners can opt to incorporate a spa area, office, bar and/or fitness room.

Outside, the vessel sports a large flybridge and bow terrace for alfresco wining and dining. It’s also equipped with a hydraulic platform aft that doubles as a beach club when lowered for seaside entertaining. Elsewhere, there is a garage that can store a pair of Jetskis.

The debut of the Sunreef 100 comes shortly after the yard delivered the ultra-modern 80-foot Great White to tennis star Rafael Nadal and signals its commitment toward this new type of multihull.

Sunreef isn’t the only yacht builder taking things bigger, either. Catamarans have slowly been getting larger and more luxurious . For proof, look no further than recent launches such as Lagoon’s Sixty 7 ,  Horizon’s PC74 and the Aquila 70 .

It looks like there’ll be plenty more mega-cats prowling the seas.

DISCOVER THE MODEL

Description.

Following the successful launch of two mega catamarans over 100 feet each in 2010, the Sunreef shipyard has been designated as a builder of an 82ft double decker sailing catamaran with the latest design, featuring sleek hulls and a streamlined deckhouse topped with a giant 35m2 flybridge inspired by large superyachts. The everlasting stylish look of the hull line is the result of Sunreef’s advanced design technologies and ongoing research into new solutions and inspirations.

HOUBARA accommodates up to 7 guests in one beam-wide owner suite, one VIP queen cabin and one guest twin cabin convertible to a double cabin with an additional Pullman bed, attended by two crew to assist the owner, a sailor himself. The Sunreef 82 DD features the canoe type boom and carbon mast, Sunreef’s in-house speciality.

An innovative element aboard the Sunreef 82 DD HOUBARA is the smart mezzanine floor housing a coffee table within a lounge area located on the starboard side of the main deck within the dining area. There is also a purpose-built storage area for painting equipment, as the owners enjoy this activity while sailing. This additional floor provides more space below decks for extended cabin or storage space. The main deck also includes a second lounge area and provides access to the crew hull on the port side and guest hull on the starboard side.

The 32m 2 owner suite, arranged over two floors, is set to occupy the entire forward section of the yacht with a master cabin, Jacuzzi and vanity on the main deck, and wardrobe and floor-to-ceiling storage and bathroom located below decks in port and starboard hulls respectively. The right corner of the master cabin includes LED-lit Jacuzzi set on a two step platform, surrounded by an orchid jardinière, providing amazing sea views through beam-wide 180 degree panoramic windows. The vanity is positioned in the centre and a low Japanese-style king-size bed with two night tables occupies the left part of the suite. Guest cabins are generously sized with three way access to a queen size bed with spectacular sea views through 6-part large windows, and have a separate bathroom and shower, spacious wardrobe, several lockers, a comprehensive entertainment system and air conditioning.

Interior design has been customised following the owners’ suggestions, and combines light and natural colours and materials finished in a classic style.

The impressive 64 m 2 cockpit holds a large dining table for up to 8 guests, sunbathing mats, wicker armchairs, a flower area, and storage for diving equipment. There is additional space for a tender and a jet ski hidden in a purpose-built locker under the main sun pad in the cockpit. The spacious 34m2 flybridge is fitted with the main helm station, bar with barbecue and ice maker, large dining table and comfortable deckchairs, as well as a coffee table. HOUBARA is built of light high-tech composite materials that the shipyard introduced to construction in 2007. The yacht’s sail plan includes private use only by the owners and their party in the Caribbean and the US.

Top Ships mulls mega-yacht purchase from private Evangelos Pistiolis firm

US-listed owner plans to employ potential acquisition on short-term charters

Buying bulkers, tankers, container ships or gas carriers from private sponsors is nothing unusual for public shipping companies.

Top Ships, however, is set to extend the practice to leisure craft.

The US-listed owner of eight modern crude and product tankers disclosed in its annual report that it is “in advanced discussions to acquire an interest in a company that owns a 47-metre mega-yacht” from an affiliate of its chief executive and controlling shareholder Evangelos Pistiolis.

David and Victoria Beckham celebrate Easter with family aboard a $20M megayacht

Thanks for contacting us. We've received your submission.

Victoria and David Beckham celebrated Easter Sunday by soaking up the sun with their family aboard a multimillion-dollar megayacht in Miami.

The Spice Girls alum shared a few snaps of the festivities via Instagram , showcasing her husband and three of their four kids – Brooklyn, 25, Cruz, 19, and Harper, 12 – living their best lives. Brooklyn’s wife, Nicola Peltz, also celebrated with the family, while 21-year-old Romeo was away for the weekend.

The sun-filled snaps showed the former soccer player, 48, and Posh Spice, 49, dressed in summer attire while sporting pink-and-white bunny ears. At one point they posed upside down on a lounge while pretending to sleep for a cute pic.

In another festive pic, the happy family posed for a group shot at the back of the yacht while all sporting the same festive bunny ears.

A third playful snap showed Peltz, 29, holding up Victoria’s leg, which remains in a boot from when she fractured her foot while working out in February.

Other pictures saw David posing with his kids as they all sported white sweatshirts.

Nicola Peltz and Victoria Beckham

“Happy Easter!! We love and miss you @romeobeckham!! Kisses from the Beckhams and Peltz Beckhams,” Victoria captioned the photo dump.

On Saturday, Victoria also posted a video of herself and Peltz dancing to the Spice Girls’ 1996 hit “Say You’ll Be There” while on the boat.

David also shared pics to his own Instagram feed on Sunday, including sweet throwback snaps of his sons holding a massive chocolate bunny when they were young. He included a picture of his daughter holding a yellow duck figurine and another of his wife wearing bunny ears.

It appears the A-list family has been spending several days abroad their yacht as they were first spotted taking a cruise on Wednesday.

The ritzy Riva 130 Bellissima Yacht is seemingly a new purchase for the couple, who were previously owners of a much smaller $6.5 million Riva Argo 90 .

The silver vessel, which measures about 40 meters and 130 feet, fits up to 10 guests in five suites.

Victoria Beckham

Since February 2014, Victoria and David have spent the majority of their time under the Florida sun as the former Manchester United pro has signed on to work for Inter Miami CF.

When the UK natives aren’t in Florida, they are likely spending time in their  $40 million Victorian townhouse  in London, which is located on “Millionaire’s Row” in Kensington.

The couple reportedly have a combined net worth of $514 million to help support their lavish lifestyle .

(NASDAQ:META) CEO Mark Zuckerberg has recently added a $300 million diesel-powered mega-yacht to his collection of high-end vehicles, despite his public advocacy for climate change. The vessel, currently anchored in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, starkly contrasts his climate-friendly stance.

The Launchpad: Zuckerberg’s newest acquisition, a mega-yacht named “Launchpad,” made its way to Fort Lauderdale last Monday. The colossal 287-foot vessel, manufactured by renowned Dutch yacht builder Feadship, embarked on its journey from the Netherlands on February 29, reported ZeroHedge.

The yacht, a design masterpiece by Espen Øino International, is the largest ever built by Feadship. Globally, it holds the 45th spot among the world’s largest mega-yachts. Equipped with 4 MTU engines, the “Launchpad” operates as a large-displacement diesel vessel, according to SuperYacht Times.

Climate Change Advocacy Under Scrutiny: SuperYacht Times reports that the yacht operates with “4 MTU engines, enabling a top speed of 24 knots.” This indicates that the vessel is propelled by large-displacement diesel engines, presenting a contradiction for the billionaire known for advocating climate change initiatives.

Zuckerberg’s extravagant collection also includes a Gulfstream G650 private jet, another notable contributor to his substantial carbon footprint. This glaring contrast between Zuckerberg’s climate change advocacy and his carbon emissions has attracted widespread criticism.

  • Gorky Central Park of Culture and Recreation, Moscow
  • Guide to Russia

What is the history of Gorky Park?

  • In the pre-revolutionary period, Gorky Park was a city dump and wasteland, which was cleared in 1923 to host the All-Russian Agricultural and Artisan Industrial Exhibition
  • In 1928, a huge park was planned on the former site of the exhibition. It would not just be a place of leisure, but a place to proudly display Soviet culture and daily life
  • Gorky Park has remained a cultural hub ever since, and has been renovated and added to over the years to make it one of Moscow’s top attractions today

Gorky Central Park of Culture and Recreation

Gorky Park is the most famous park of Moscow, created during the Soviet period as a hub for relaxation and cultural activities. The park is beloved by Muscovites and tourists alike, who visit in all seasons to stroll, enjoy sports, admire the park’s attractions, and attend cultural events. Gorky Park is the central part of an ensemble of four green spaces – Muzeon Park of Arts, Neskuchny Garden, and Sparrow Hills Nature Reserve – which curve around the southern bank of the Moskva River to the south-west of Moscow city centre. Here you may spend some time and enjoy nature and contemprary art during your vacation in Moscow .

History of Gorky Park

Imperial russia.

In the 17th century, the eastern bank of the Moskva River beyond Moscow’s city limits was home to floodplain meadows, where palace horses grazed. From the mid-1850s, events such as cockfights, fistfights, and races were held here, and by the 20th century this area had become a city dump where the unemployed and homeless people of Moscow lived, which remained this way until the Soviet period. This wasteland lay in stark contrast to the adjoining Neskuchny Sad – ‘merry garden’ – which lay to its south, an area of aristocratic country estates and elaborate gardens.

Soviet Russia

Following the October Revolution, Vladimir Lenin travelled around Moscow to find a suitable site for the first All-Russian Agricultural and Artisan Industrial Exhibition, which would reveal opportunities for socialist development of agriculture and industry. Lenin decided on the wasteland alongside the Moskva River, which was cleared with a programme of community work. In 1923, the exhibition began. It encompassed 250 pavilions dedicated to different themes of agriculture and industry, and was divided into thematic zones, such as villages, livestock, crops, engineering, railways, republics of the USSR, and foreign countries. The organisation of the exhibition demarcated the future layout and size of Gorky Park, and the paths, ‘zones’, and main square of the exhibition have been preserved until the present day. In March 1928, Moscow City Council decided to establish a park of culture and recreation on the site of the former exhibition, which would also encompass the Neskuchny Garden. Moscow’s residents were instrumental in the construction of the park – they voiced their desires for events spaces, physical education and leisure facilities, and gave up their weekends to build the park. The park’s main architect was Konstantin Melnikov.

Did you know? Konstantin Melnikov also helped to construct Lenin’s Mausoleum and the Rusakov Worker’s Club, one of Moscow’s Constructivist masterpieces .

Over 100,000 Muscovites flocked to the opening of the park on 12th August 1928. The brand-new park was equipped with two theatres, a cinema, nursery, reading room, restaurant and café, music stages, sports arenas, rowing boats, and even a giant helter-skelter slide. Unfortunately, because of the vast size of the crowd and the general excitement, the park was damaged and closed until September.

Did you know? The park was not named after Maxim Gorky, writer and founder of Socialist Realism, until 1933.

In 1929, Betty Glan – at the mere age of 26 – became director of the park. She decided to reconceptualise it, uniting leisure, design, and ideology with the help of Moscow’s most eminent architects, designers and artists. Over the next decade, more cultural venues were established in the park, the Pushkinskaya Embankment along the Moskva River was developed, and the landscaping of the park was carefully cultivated. Architect Alexander Vlasov was particularly influential, and won the Grand Prix at the 1937 World Exhibition in Paris for his design of Gorky Park. This period under Glan’s directorship until 1937 was known as the ‘golden age’ of Gorky Park, which became not just a place for recreation, but a public space where Soviet culture and everyday life could be proudly displayed.

Did you know? During the Second World War topical events were held in Gorky Park, such as the championship in bayonet combat, grenade-throwing competitions, and air defence training. What’s more, an exhibition of captured enemy weapons – tanks, artillery, aeroplanes, and more – was organised in Gorky Park and continually updated throughout the war.

In the post-war decades new attractions were continually added to Gorky Park. These included the majestic 24-metre triumphal arch at the entrance to the park, an astronomical observatory (which remains open today), the famous Ferris wheel (unfortunately dismantled in 2008), and a fountain with lights and music.

Russia today

Gorky Central Park of Culture and Recreation

The Gorky Park ensemble continued to flourish as a centre of culture and recreation in post-Soviet Russia. The adjoining Muzeon Park of Arts was founded in 1992, and Garage Museum of Contemporary Art was established in Gorky Park in 2008. The ensemble underwent serious reconstruction in 2011. Many new sports facilities were added, including centres for beach sports and extreme sports, bicycle paths and sports equipment rental hubs, and much effort was devoted to reviving original buildings, sculptures, and landscape compositions. Two years later, the embankment of the Moskva River from the southern tip of Zamoskvorechye Island all the way to Sparrow Hills was redeveloped and pedestrianised, making it possible to peacefully walk or cycle along the Moskva for many kilometres.

What can you do at Gorky Park today?

  • Explore the park and see architectural attractions, fountains, and beautiful gardens
  • Visit Garage Museum of Contemporary Art and the Gorky Park Museum
  • Go boating on the lakes and stroll down the Pushkinskaya Embankment
  • Rent bicycles or scooters, skateboard, and visit the sports centres

What can you do at Gorky Park?

Park attractions.

While exploring the treelined paths of Gorky Park, you’ll come across a number of attractions. To the west of the main entrance, near the river, is a beautiful geometric bandstand used for music and literary evenings in the Soviet period. As you head down the central alley of Gorky Park from the main entrance, you’ll see a statue of Maxim Gorky on your right, and discover the light and music fountain with its dancing jets of water – find the schedule of its performances here .

Did you know? Don’t be afraid to feed the red squirrels and birds you encounter on your walk around Gorky Park – there are even vending machines which sell special food for the animals!

The southern section of Gorky Park is occupied by the Golitsynsky Garden. In 1802, the Golitsyn Hospital was founded here as a hospital for the poor; it still adjoins Gorky Park today. Gardens were created as a relaxation place for patients, extending from the hospital building to the riverbank, and included landscaped gardens, a Chinese Bridge, and two ponds. On the riverbank is the Rotunda of the Golitsyn Hospital, which has been preserved since the 19th century. There is also a rose garden and fountain by the Bolshoi Golitsynsky Pond.

Did you know? In the Golitsynsky Garden is also located an unusual architectural monument – a public toilet designed by Alexander Vlasov in the 1930s, which is recognised as an ‘object of cultural heritage’!

Outdoor activities

Gorky Central Park of Culture and Recreation

Gorky Park’s extensive and varied grounds aren’t only good for walks! You can relax on the water by renting boats to sail on the Pionersky and Bolshoi Golitsynsky Ponds, or visiting the Olivkovy Beach on the Pushkinskaya Embankment to sunbathe. As well as this, you can hire bicycles, electric scooters, longboards or even roller skates to explore the park and embankments, play table tennis, visit the sports complex to play football, basketball, handball, badminton or volleyball, or visit the Vans skatepark or Nike sports centre for workouts and classes such as rooftop yoga.

Gorky Park Museum

Visit the Gorky Park Museum, located in the left pier of the entrance arch. The current exhibition is dedicated to Gorky Park in the ‘golden age’ of the 1930s, and shows the development of Moscow’s central park through the eyes of Betty Glan. There is an observation deck on top of the arch, which offers a lovely view over the park and Moscow’s skyline.

Did you know? In the entrance arch there is also a gift shop where you can purchase balls, frisbees, blankets, and other items to enjoy your visit to Gorky Park.

Garage Museum of Contemporary Art

Garage Museum

Photo from  https://muzeolog.com/

In Gorky Park you will find Garage Museum, Russia’s first philanthropic institution dedicated to contemporary art, founded in 2008 by Roman Abramovich and Dasha Zhukova. 10 major exhibitions are hosted each year to showcase the work of established and up-and-coming artists. Also organised are a rich programme of events including curator-led excursions, workshops, masterclasses, lectures, concerts, performances, festivals, and film screenings at Garage’s outdoor cinema. Read our article about Garage Museum of Contemporary Art to learn more.

Food and drink

There are plenty of excellent cafes and restaurants dotted around Gorky Park, where you can stop for a quick coffee or enjoy a long meal with a view. They include the stylish lakeside café Ostrovok (Little Island) and upmarket restaurant Vremena Goda (Seasons) which serve European and Russian food, colourful lakeside Thai restaurant Lebedinoe Ozero (Swan Lake), trattoria Merkato with its huge summer terrace, restaurant Syrovarnya (Cheese Factory) with a menu focused on its homemade cheese, food-truck court Restoparking which is stylised as a drive-in café, and ice-cream and tea shop Chaynaya Vysota.

What’s nearby?

Gorky Park is bordered by Muzeon Park of Arts, Neskuchny Garden, and Sparrow Hills Nature Reserve. This huge ensemble curves for eight kilometres along the bank of the Moskva River, providing a beautiful oasis of green in Europe’s biggest city.

Muzeon Park of Arts

Muzeon Park

Photo from  https://new-magazine.ru/

Muzeon Park of Arts is the largest open-air sculpture museum in Russia, home to 1,000 sculptures by Soviet and Russian sculptors, including those by famous artists. A large part of Muzeon is occupied by the New Tretyakov Gallery , which houses Russia’s most complete exhibition of national art from the 20th century to the present day. The pedestrianised Krymskaya Embankment which extends alongside Muzeon has recently undergone redevelopment, and is one of Moscow’s most popular spots to relax.

Neskuchny Garden

Neskuchny Garden is the oldest park in Moscow, founded in 1728 by Prince Nikita Trubetskoy, who threw fantastic festivities in his manor house and gardens – neskuchny means ‘merry’ in Russian. Many other noble families also built their country estates in this area, which became a public park and garden after being acquired by the royal family. Today, the Neskuchny Garden is home to historical buildings, fountains, and gardens from the 18th and 19th centuries, sports facilities, an open-air theatre, and a huge greenhouse which supplies flowers to Gorky Park.

Sparrow Hills

Sparrow Hills Nature Reserve is a huge forest park lining the steep bank of the Moskva River and the only specially protected nature area near the city centre. It is home to ecological trails, ponds, natural springs, rare species of plants and animals, many spots for picnicking, cafes, and a mini zoo. At the bottom of the park lie the Vorobyovskaya and Andreevskaya Embankments, with promenades along the Moskva River, a beach, and piers offering boat trips. As with Gorky Park, Sparrow Hills is hugely popular for sports and outdoor activities in all seasons. A new winter sports complex with snowboarding, ice skating, and ski tracks and jumps is currently under construction. When the weather is pleasant, you can rent a bicycle to ride the 8 kilometres along the river from Muzeon to Sparrow Hills.

Moscow smart city by 2030: current project status

Russia’s capital is among the world’s “smart cities” thanks to digitalisation and sustainable mobility.

  • City of Tomorrow (81)
  • Demographic Boom And Megacities (50)
  • Europe (218)
  • Transports (281)
  • PricewaterhouseCoopers has ranked Moscow among the top five cities most prepared to embrace the technologies of the future
  • According to the OECD, 70% of the capital invested in the city comes from the private sector
  • Currently in Moscow there are more than 2,000 traffic lights, 3,500 traffic sensors and 2,000 closed circuit television cameras digitally connected to a Traffic Management Center
  • The number of passengers who used the new Magistral surface transport network routes from 2016 to 2018 increased by 40%, from 385,000 to 540,000
  • The Moscow Central Circle is a railway that runs around the city, similar to the Cityringen in Copenhagen

Smart city in the world: here are the most technological cities

Moscow and its technological mayor.

Not only big, but “smart.” With a population of 12 million, Moscow is continental Europe’s largest city . Now it is evolving into one of the world’s leading “ smart cities ” as well.  The world’s megacities — destined to attract increasing numbers of people in the future – need to shift gears to become smart cities for their future wellbeing . That’s why in 2015 the U.N. General Assembly included building sustainable and smart cities and communities among its Sustainable Development Goals .

Innovation, transport, sustainable construction: Moscow sees the UN’s Agenda 2030 as an excellent opportunity to enhance the livability of Russia’s capital and transform it into a smart city .

It has already succeeded, in part. Consulting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers included Moscow among the top five mega-cities “prepared to embrace the future” by adopting new technology.

Moscow Smart City 2030: three goals

The development strategy of this huge city bristling with cranes and pockmarked with construction sites is based on three programmes. The first is the “ Masterplan 2010-2035 ” approved in 2010 promoting “balanced urban development” including sustainable mobility (i.e. building new subway lines ), new green areas , and quality housing .

The second line of intervention is the “ Investment Strategy 2025 ,” a series of reforms that aim to attract foreign investors by creating a favourable investment climate by cutting bureaucracy, reducing administrative delays and greater transparency. Investors have already responded. According to the OECD, 70% of the capital invested in the city comes from the private sector.

The third goal is the most innovative. The “ Smart City 2030 ” plan is linked to the ambitious goal of transforming this sprawling urban area into a “smart city” in the space of just a few years, one where everyday life is made more efficient by technology and digitalisation.

Moscow: a smart city to improve the life of residents

Moscow’s city administration has invested heavily in intelligent traffic control . According to the Moscow mayor ’s official website, currently in Moscow more than 2,000 traffic lights, 3,500 traffic sensors, and 2,000 closed circuit television cameras are digitally connected to a Traffic Management Center, which shares the information in real time with commuters to reduce traffic as much as possible and facilitate the use of public transport.

Moscow is also the first city in Russia where the public administration has opened a website where residents can, for example, pay bills, access municipal services, request permits or documents, or even arrange a visit with a doctor. A total of 222 services are available to residents on the site.

mega catamaran

Social development and transport boom

Walking along the orderly streets of Moscow, it is easy to get the impression of having ended up in a Chinese megacity, or in a more modern and extreme version of Manhattan. Skyscrapers, green areas, massive infrastructure. In recent years, the city has experienced a profound urban transformation as its economy has boomed. The Brookings Institute has defined Moscow as the sixth most powerful city in the world , with a metropolitan GDP that now exceeds $600 billion.

In the last ten years Moscow has been at the centre of a profound economic and social renewal. The proportion of residents living below the poverty line has fallen from 10% to 7.2%; the unemployed have gone from 1.8% to 1.3% of the city’s population; and infant mortality has halved, from 10 to 5 children per 1,000 births.

These are just a few of the signs of change in a vital, growing city. According to the OECD, the number of passengers who used the new Magistral surface transport network of bus, trolley and tram routes from 2016 to 2018 increased by 40%, from 385,000 to 540,000.

Last year the frequency of public buses has doubled, from one every16 minutes to one every 8 minutes. Despite this, most residents continue to use private cars, which account for 80% of pollution. That’s why the Moscow administration is investing in sustainable mobility .

In addition to the purchase of thousands of new buses, on which electronic ticketing systems have been installed, rail transport has been increased thanks to the construction of the Moscow Central Circle , a metro line that runs around the city, similar in idea to the Cityringen in Copenhagen created by the Webuild group. Thanks to these investments, the number of people who pay full fare on Moscow’s public transport services rose from 1.9 billion to 2.8 billion from 2010 to 2017. This is yet another important step forward that contributes, along with the rest, to Moscow’s transformation from a chaotic metropolis to a smart city of the future.
