Disney’s Yacht Club Resort is Scheduled for Refurbishment in 2025

by Allison Fricker · April 29, 2024

Disney's Yacht Club Resort

Disney’s Yacht Club Resort is known for its nautical details, elegant vibe, and close proximity to EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios .

Add that to an incredible pool, delicious dining , and upscale accommodations and you’ve got a recipe for one seriously magical Disney vacation!

Yacht Club

Photo: Disney

Of course, maintaining those beautiful grounds and pristine interiors means daily upkeep (thanks, Mousekeeping! ) as well as occasional construction.

We already know that the Yacht Club’s feature pool, Stormalong Bay, will be closed for refurbishment between January 2025 and June 2025.

Stormalong Bay at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort

Now, Disney has announced that the resort’s guest rooms will also see a refurbishment during this time. Let’s check it out!

Room Refurbishment at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort

According to Disney, some guest rooms at the resort will be under refurbishment from January 2025 through May 2025.

Yacht Club Refurbishment 2025

Disney is careful to note that the refurbishment includes “some” — but not all — guest rooms.

The construction may cause some additional noise during the day, but the work should quiet down by nighttime. This way, guests can still enjoy a peaceful night’s rest!

yacht Club

The notice indicates that “most” resort amenities will remain open during the refurbishment period.

stormalong bay

However, the refurbishment at Stormalong Bay will run simultaneously, meaning the feature pool will be closed during the room refurbishments. Guests will still be able to swim at The Yacht Club’s Tidal, Admiral, and Dunes Cove leisure pools.

A Fresh New Look

So far, few details are known about the upcoming room refurbishment.

Yacht Club

Disney’s Yacht Club Resort received its last upgrade back in 2018 when the wallpaper borders were removed and carpets were replaced with dark wood flooring.

The result was a sophisticated look with a distinctly upscale vibe.

Yacht Club Guest Room

We’re not sure what Disney has in mind for the refurbishment, but we can’t wait to find out!

Staying During Construction?

If you’re staying at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort during the upcoming room or pool refurbishments, you’ll still enjoy the resort’s amazing amenities, beautiful grounds, and peaceful pools.

Yacht Club Lobby

If noise is a concern, be sure to request a room that’s far from construction.

Wood Nymph said: I have some information about the boat to Hollywood Studio. They are currently running four boats to DHS, starting at 8am for a 9am park opening. (We saw all four at once). One boat sits at Boardwalk, one at Yacht Club and one at Swan/Dolphin. The fourth boat comes in from the Epcot side of the lake and goes to the BW after the first boat leaves, then YC, then S/D, then DHS. We crossed the bridge between the Yacht Club and S/D at 8:08am and the fourth boat was heading to the Yacht Club. The first three boats unloaded at DHS very quickly. The fourth boat got to the DHS boat dock just about the same time as we got to the temperature check point, around 8:26am. Click to expand...

The guest returned about 20 minutes later. The barking stopped and in the next couple of days we heard one short yip. Part of the dog agreement is that if the dog is noisy the guest must return within 30 minutes. If the dog will not be quiet it must be moved to the kennel. There is a dog walking area. TJA said: We were just there 8/24-27. The chairs were in sets of 3 and 4 with some space in between the sets. As far as masks: the only person we saw with a mask was the CM walking around taking drink orders (not sure if he was also taking food orders but we assumed he was....). We looked around and did not see any guests wearing a mask once inside the pool area and situated on a chair or at a table. We did see a mask flying around the pool deck and that brings up the issue of people wearing them to the pool and then losing them or the wind taking them away once at the pool. We saw some creative ways to store masks for sure, lol, with one family attaching their masks to their flip flops while laying in chairs. Click to expand...

sarmat1 said: To enter the line for the Jib slide, you have to actually go out of the pool area entirely. Once on the slide, you go under not 1, but 2 waterfalls that will definitely dump water on your head. The slide ultimately feeds into 4 feet of water and you come down with such force that you will go under water (unless wearing a vest). The exiting part of the slide is in a roped off area of the pool and a lifeguard will be sitting there. That guard will likely keep others out of the roped off area, so parents are not allowed to "catch" their children coming off. Depending on how adventurous your kids are, you might want to go with them the first time. The kiddie area of SAB with the little beach area to play on is on the complete other side of where the slide ends. You'll need to determine your comfort level with older kids going on the slide (then exiting the pool area to go on again and again) if you're with a younger child in the kiddie area. That's the one thing I didn't like about SAB. It's so big, it can become difficult to supervise all of your different age kids simultaneously with the many different sections. Maybe this is an issue for others, maybe not, but I thought it deserved mentioning. Click to expand...
beebeeryan said: With regards to the Jib slide and younger kids...if you stand around where the slide comes out you can walk with them to the pathway where they cross over and watch them go up then walk back to the pool. You'll make it back well before they get down, since there are always at least a few people in line and it's a long way down. Also if you go before your child, you could wait towards the rope for them, the lifeguard may or may not usher you away quickly. Click to expand...

Cluelyss said: My daughter just did it yesterday and loved every minute of it! There were 8 in her class (not sure if it was “full” but was the perfect size for plenty of individual instruction). Kids ranged in ages from probably 6-12 and should be a decent swimmer as the fins are not easy to maneuver! They got to do several “tricks” like swimming through hoops and you have the option at the end to purchase (or order) your own tail. The class takes place in the pirate slide pool, which was was the only downfall, as I think it would have been better for them to have more room to move around. At the end they had “free swim” and it was a bit crowded with 8 tails swimming about! We pre-booked not long after the class was announced. I’m sure it will be based on the class on any given day what the age range will be, but I’d assume she’d be on the older end? We didn’t purchase a tail there but brought home info to order online (they provide a $10 off discount code at the class) and prices range from $109-119 on their website. Click to expand...

The price was pretty reasonable (it depended on what you wanted to paint, but I think my mug was around $15?), they provide all the materials you need, and there was no time limit (which was good for me because I like to take my time with things). The only thing to note is that if you do the ceramics, they have to put it in the kiln, so it won't be available for a day or two, so try and do it earlier in the week. You can go to a park, use dining credits, etc. Sometimes there is a problem with the reservation that requires someone to go to the front desk. An example would be a credit card glitch. If you don't receive a direct to room text before you arrive at the resort then you will have to physically check in before you can access SAB. But most often you will receive a direct to room text which will let you know the status of your room, i.e. ready or not. If you receive the direct to room text then you are all checked in and don't have to go to the front desk unless you want to talk to them about something. I shot these using my remote shutter through the Nikon app. When I do that it also saves the images (as jpegs) to my phone and then my phone automatically uploads to Google Photos. I messed around at the airport on the way home and created a nice little animation with it using the jpegs so I'm going to try and post that. I did edit the RAW files so these aren't my "edits", and some of the shots didn't turn out great, but the animation was pretty cool and should give you a good idea of what to expect. 2024-2025 Hotel Construction & Refurbishments at Disney World

when was disney yacht club renovated

Hotel refurbishments, resort construction, and character-inspired makeovers continue at Walt Disney World through 2024 & 2025. This resource provides info on room renovations, what to avoid, where to book, and what to expect in terms of hotel work at Walt Disney World. ( Updated July 22, 2024 .)

Walt Disney World continues to undertake refurbishments in an effort to modernize or refresh several of its resorts, as well as finish deferred maintenance that was postponed during the phased reopening. Consequently, there’s a growing number of smaller-scale projects that take certain buildings or a portion of rooms out of commission as part of more-targeted, rolling refurbishments. (The new Summer 2024 additions to the schedule are at All Star Movies, Pop Century, Port Orleans and Yacht Club.)

We do Walt Disney World monthly hotel stays, usually emphasizing resorts where there are new things, changes, or ongoing construction to see how that harms, improves, or otherwise impacts the guest experience. If you’ve yet to book a hotel for your upcoming Walt Disney World vacation and want to be notified about all of the latest resort changes, sign up here for our FREE Disney newsletter here.

When booking a Walt Disney World vacation, we highly recommend taking into account recently-completed and ongoing construction projects at the various resorts, as these absolutely can impact the quality of your trip. Booking a hotel with a closed pool or construction noise and cranes right outside your window is obviously going to be a worse experience than a resort that just finished its big refurbishment and still has that fresh feeling and ‘new hotel’ smell.

Note that this does not include DVC villas if they do not impact the hotel side of a resort. For those projects, see our Disney Vacation Club Resort Refurbishments & Construction Timeline . That covers all of the room reimaginings at Walt Disney World, Disneyland, and beyond that we just announced at the condo association meeting. Those projects also impact Boulder Ridge, Bay Lake Tower, and both Crescent Lake DVC resorts.

Suffice to say, a lot is happening on the hotel front at Walt Disney World. Let’s take a look at all of the current and upcoming major hotel projects that have the potential to impact guests…

Ongoing or Upcoming Hotel Refurbishments

when was disney yacht club renovated

All Star Movies (NEW) – While the room renovations at Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort (as well as Sports and Music) are now finished, more updates are expected in the next couple of years.

Now through July 31, 2024, the World Premiere Food Court will undergo a refurbishment. During this time, Guests may utilize the My Disney Experience app to order food and drinks with their mobile device. Signs featuring a QR code in the lobby and near the World Premiere Food Court areas will take you to the app when scanned.

This sounds like it means that the indoor seating area won’t be open, but the kitchen still will. So you can take food to tables outside (although there aren’t many of those) or back to your room.

Looking way down the road to early 2025, the Fantasia Pool at Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort will be closed for routine maintenance from January 2025 through April 2025. Guests may see or hear construction work during daytime hours. During this time, hotel guests are welcome to swim in the Duck Pond Pool at Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort.

Art of Animation, Pop Century, Caribbean Beach & Riviera Resorts  – Nothing is currently on the schedule for these resorts. That’s the good news. The potentially bad news, depending upon how you want to look at it, is that the Skyliner gondolas will  probably  close in phases from mid-to-late January 2025.

We mention this because it happens every year, and Walt Disney World provided very short notice of it in 2024 to the consternation of many fans who already had trips booked . Maybe 2025 will be the anomaly and it won’t occur, but we’d recommend being prepared for another two week or so closure during the winter offseason.

When it does happen, this routine downtime of the “Most Magical Flight on Earth” affects all of the Skyliner routes and resorts. These gondolas service two Walt Disney World theme parks (Hollywood Studios and Epcot) plus four resorts (Art of Animation & Pop Century, Caribbean Beach, plus Riviera Resort & Caribbean Beach again) via 5 stations.

We strongly recommend switching resorts if you’re staying at a Skyliner hotel during this refurbishment. As discussed in that article (link above), the Skyliner is the  selling point of those resorts, and why they charge premium prices. We’d also recommend not booking any of those resorts in mid to late January 2025, as another Skyliner refurbishment is likely at that time.

Beach Club Resort & Villas (UPDATED) – The soft goods refurbishment and lobby refresh of Disney’s Beach Club Resort and Villas is now finished. Not much changed–there’s new carpet in the hallways, and inside the room the carpet has been replaced by a laminate flooring.

There’s also new furniture–chairs and couch–as well as new curtains, Donald Duck wall art, and other refreshed surfaces. That’s all I noticed. These rooms were bland before, and they’re still pretty bland now–but minus carpet and plus better on-theme artwork.

With that said, a huge closure is on the horizon: Stormalong Bay Pool is Closing in 2025 for Refurbishment . From January 2025 through May 2025 June 2025 ( timeframe extended by one month ), Stormalong Bay and Shipwreck Pool at Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts will be closed for routine maintenance. Guests may see or hear construction work during daytime hours. During this time, Guests are welcome to swim at the Tidal, Admiral and Dunes Cove leisure pools.

BoardWalk Inn  – This resort is current in the midst of a multi-year reimagining. No timeline has been given for when the work will end, but our expectation is mid-2024. The room renovations are now finished (see our Review, Photos & Videos of the New Rooms at Disney’s BoardWalk Inn ) and work is occurring along the BoardWalk itself.

Walt Disney World is also adding and changing elements of the beloved turn-of-the-century promenade and inside the Deluxe Resort, including a new lobby design, nearby coffee bar, delectable dining options, refreshed guest rooms, and more.

Inside Disney’s BoardWalk Inn, it’s difficult to discern whether work on the lobby is finished . Carousel Coffee has opened and Belle Vue Lounge has been refreshed, with both being done in half-measure. It seems that the same has also happened with the lobby, but it’s truly tough to tell. Very little changed.

The biggest project at the BoardWalk is the new Cake Bake Shop Restaurant will replace ESPN Club, and is slated to open in Summer 2024. (It’s already been delayed three times as construction moves at a glacial pace.) This isn’t the only new “restaurant” coming to this area: pickle-stuffed corn dogs (you read that correctly) will soon be coming to the BoardWalk courtesy of Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs.

when was disney yacht club renovated

Fort Wilderness Campground – Walt Disney World is introducing New DVC Cabins Coming to Fort Wilderness Campground . The plan calls for more than 350 new cabins to replace the existing cabins at the resort, turning the resort side of the campground into a Disney Vacation Club property. In so doing, a “collection of improvement projects” are underway at Fort Wilderness aimed at enhancing the guest experience, including proposed pool and walking trail improvements.

Work on the Disney Vacation Club cabins has now started, and the first phase of cabins is in the process of being installed. The first cabins will officially open on July 1, 2024. Construction impact will be minimal, as the cabins are pre-fabricated off-site and installed unit-by-unit, not built on location. This will occur loop by loop and should be finished by April 2025.

To prepare for the influx of DVC guests, Walt Disney World reimagined the restaurants in Pioneer Hall . That work is now finished, and both Crockett’s Tavern and Trail’s End have reopened. The latter is now quick-service and a grab-and-go marketplace instead of sit-down restaurant.

when was disney yacht club renovated

Grand Floridian Resort & Spa – Disney Vacation Club overhauled the Big Pine Key building of hotel rooms at Walt Disney World’s flagship resort. This building has since reopened and the new rooms have debuted–see Grand New Rooms at Walt Disney World’s Flagship Resort for a look inside.

These reimagined rooms have since debuted on the regular resort side of the Grand Floridian, and all of the outlying buildings are now finished. Crews have now moved into the main lobby, which is being done in phases. How long it’ll take is anyone’s guess–it really depends upon how involved the project is. We’re guessing it’ll last for at least the first half of 2024.

We’re also guessing that the Grand Floridian Tea Room will not return until after the reimagining is finished. In a logical and ideal world, those venues would be reimagined alongside the lobby, and open in time for Summer 2024. At present, there’s no indication that’s the intent–no construction activity has been observed in or around either.

Grand Floridian will receive a substantial overhaul with “Enchanted Gardens” as the unifying visual style. The scope and scale are not yet known, but the most likely scenario is the main lobby receiving an aesthetic and new carpet comparable to the smaller outlying buildings.

when was disney yacht club renovated

Polynesian Village Resort (UPDATED + EXPANDED)  – Walt Disney World is building a new DVC tower at Polynesian Village Resort between the existing Polynesian longhouses and Wedding Pavilion, near the Grand Floridian.

In light of this, Walt Disney World’s official site added this message as of late July 2024: Construction and Refurbishments Through 2026.

We’re preparing for the proposed expansion of Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort and Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows. Construction is underway. Additionally, select portions of the Resort hotel are undergoing refurbishment. Now through 2026, you may see and hear construction and refurbishment work during daytime hours. The ongoing enhancements may impact views of the theme park and other surrounding areas. To minimize disruptions during your stay, activities that may create noise will begin no earlier than 9:00 AM. Refurbishment work is subject to change due to operational needs or weather conditions.

The massive update here is that this message has changed from being through 2024 to through 2026. The new Island Tower at Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows will open on December 17, 2024–so the work in 2025 and 2026 is not for that.

Walt Disney World filed permits for a new entrance to the Polynesian (which would also impact the parking lot and bus loop), and there’s major work being done to re-route and expand Floridian Way, so that could be what’s referenced for the construction and refurbishments through 2026. We’re skeptical of that, though.

The Grand Floridian will also be impacted (albeit to a lesser extent) by the Floridian Way project, and it doesn’t have a similar note about work through 2026. Not only that, but I don’t recall a time when road work ever triggered a construction notice.

In any case, it remains to be seen whether this is simply road work, or if there are additional plans to refresh and reimagine Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. Neither would surprise us. Even though the Poly was redone relatively recently, the resort infrastructure still cannot handle the crowds. That’s only likely to worsen with the opening of the Island Tower. Either way, we’ll keep you posted.

when was disney yacht club renovated

While the 2025-2026 construction impacts are to be determined, if you’re staying at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort anytime in 2024, we’d recommend requesting a room that is not  in the Aotearoa, Fiji, or Tuvalu longhouses. Those buildings are adjacent to the construction site, and the only ones that should be impacted in any material way. The DVC tower construction is visible from other locations in the resort, but the impact is otherwise minor.

Actually, we recommend avoiding the Polynesian completely for the next year. As explained in Worst Hotels at Walt Disney World for 2024 , the construction impact will be ongoing and it’s likely that smaller projects will be undertaken in addition to what’s already been announced to prepare the resort infrastructure for the tower and its added DVC guests.

Prior to this tower, work wrapped up on the Great Ceremonial House, porte-cochère, new monorail station, and gardens. Room refurbishments were also part of the Poly’s overhaul and those are now finished. See our Review, Photos & Video: New Moana Rooms at Polynesian Village Resort for a tour and thoughts on the changes from our most recent hotel stay.

Pop Century (NEW)  – From July 29 to September 29, 2024, the Everything POP Food Court will be under refurbishment, but will remain open for your convenience. During this time, guests will need to use Mobile Order in the My Disney Experience app to order food and drinks. Guests should please be prepared to utilize alternate entrances to the food court. Dining room seating may be limited.

This doesn’t strike us as a make-or-break refurbishment, especially since you’ll still be able to use Mobile Order, meaning the kitchen will be open. Additionally, there’s a decent amount of outdoor seating at Pop Century in addition to whatever will be available in the dining room. With that said, this is the hottest and rainiest time of year at Walt Disney World, so dining outdoors is suboptimal. Moreover, Everything POP Food Court usually doesn’t have its dinner specials or best items available via Mobile Order for whatever reason, so here’s hoping that changes during this refurbishment.

Also note that Walt Disney World has been giving guests the option of switching to one of the All Stars, if you so desire. You might also be able to change to Art of Animation or Caribbean Beach, but that might require paying the difference. Personally, I’d just stick with Pop Century, but to each their own.

when was disney yacht club renovated

Port Orleans French Quarter (NEW) – Now through November 2024, some guest rooms at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter will be under refurbishment. Guests may see or hear construction work during daytime hours.

This is a last-minute addition to the schedule, which is somewhat surprising. First, because it’s a really long project. It’s not unplanned maintenance–room refurbishments are scheduled years in advance, so why wait to tell guests until the month it starts? Second, because it’s “some” guest rooms, meaning it’s probably the first phase of a project with a planned pause for the heart of the holiday season when occupancy is high.

Finally, because the timing lines up for this to be a hard goods refurbishment (the last soft goods refurb was in 2018). That means a full room redesign or reimagining is likely, which could mean characters being added to the rooms as well as a new configuration (similar to the ‘Under the Sea’ Inspired Little Mermaid Rooms at Caribbean Beach).

It’s also fascinating because Walt Disney World never finished the last soft goods refurbishment next door at Port Orleans Riverside! That started in 2019, was interrupted by the COVID closure, and never finished. We know this for certain because we just stayed in one of the old rooms at Riverside. So it’s interesting that French Quarter would start the next round of refurbishments before Riverside finished up the last one.

when was disney yacht club renovated

Yacht Club Resort (NEW) – From January 2025 through May 2025, some guest rooms at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort will be under refurbishment. Guests may see or hear construction work during daytime hours. Most resort hotel amenities will remain available.

Like with French Quarter, this room refurbishment is interesting for a few reasons. First, Yacht Club’s “new” rooms (air quotes) aren’t really that old and–unlike overhauls completed before then–have held up really well. So either it’s time for another soft goods refurbishment or Walt Disney World is making an as-yet unannounced change. My money is on the former–it’s about time for a refresh.

Boo. I’m booked at the new Poly Tower in April 2025. I was hoping the resort would be done with construction by then (wishful thinking haha). It’s hard to pick a deluxe resort without construction for 2025, especially around the Magic Kingdom. I’m sure it will all be wonderful when finished but I’m wondering if it will be perpetual updates for the time being and picking which is the least impactful.

' src=

wow, we are going sept 11th to 19th. haven’t gotten an email yet about pop century food court refurb. do you think not all guests will be notified or offered something else?

' src=

We have just been told POP Century will have the food court refurb 29july to 30 September this year been offered all stars as alternative! I’m looking at Caribbean beach or Coronado springs any thoughts? Thanks

' src=

Hey Sue, I don’t know the members of your party but Coronado Springs wasn’t very “Disney” compared to other resorts. I have stayed Poly, AKL, and some AS for reference.

' src=

Hey Tom! We are staying at Pop in Late July. I’m hearing where people staying at pop are getting emails saying that the Food Court will close for refurb and be Mobile Order only. People are getting emails that are staying in June and people are getting emails that are staying in Sept. Have you heard of anything?

Just had out email the food court will be closed 29 July to 30 September,

' src=

Tom We are staying at French Quarter later in October this year. Do you think we should request a room that is already refurbished? Or do you think things should be winding down by then given the time frame they gave?

' src=

hi i have same question as we are booked at Fr Qtr for Nov17-24th and i just found out there is construction AGAIN,….last trip the pool was closed for reno now rooms ……I wish was told that rooms will be reno an if i could also have choice of new room….

' src=

Hi, Tom!!! We are booked at PO Riverside in July. We have a 5th sleeper pet friendly room booked…I know that can be pretty much anywhere on the Alligator Bayou side…any recommendations to ensure that we get a room that has been refurbished? The biggest concern for us will be the bedding…hubby and I both have some back issues!! Thanks in Advance. Hope you are living your best lives in Tokyo!!

' src=

We just returned from Disney Port Orleans Riverside. We had a standard view (building 14) and it was refurbished. Plus close to the food and pool. Hope that helps!

' src=

What about BLT? Or is that too far ahead at this point? Good to know about the Skyliner as we were going to book Pop for our late January trip specifically for that!

' src=

I believe BLT is Sept 2024 – Sept 2025.

' src=

According to folks on the disboards who have been at Fort Wilderness recently, the cabins are not actually prefabricated as expected and they are being built (or at least put together) on site.

' src=

Staying at the GF in a few weeks…are the main building guest rooms open? Any update on the lobby construction? I think I read that the rooms have all been renovated, but the pictures on their website show a mix of old/new rooms. I definitely prefer a renovated room!

' src=

What do you expect the impact of Bay Lake Tower work to be on guests staying at the Contemporary in 2025? Would you recommend avoiding Contemporary during BLT reno? Most likely would be staying in the garden wing.

' src=

Maybe anecdotal but many years ago we were at BLT while some work was being done. Unfortunately for us, the bridge was unavailable along with some elevators. We had to take the elevator down to the main level, walk across, and go up the escalator (I believe – it was around 10 years ago). Our particular room was FAR from the available elevators.

What I remember most about that trip was the beads of sweat on my forehead walking between buildings and how exhausted I was lugging groceries from the market to our room lol.

With that said, we still had a great time and are working on becoming BLT owners – but that’s also because of the pending refurb!

' src=

It would be really nice to have those Kidani rooms updated! Shouldn’t they be next?

' src=

Thanks for the awesome newsletter. Just one comment: I think Disney recently extended the Beach Club pool closure to be January to June (was January to May).

' src=

You’re right–my bad!

Sarah even reminded me to update that and I still glossed right over it. Thanks for (another) reminder!

' src=

Regarding yacht club like Tom said I thought the rooms were updated and great. The halls, elevators and common areas were rough in 2023 so hopefully that is part of this refurb. Great hotel that needs to be brought back to its glory. And move the globe back where it belongs!

' src=

hey tom, what would be your advice if budget is somewhat a consideration. book 4 nights in march at a disney value hotel, or about 100 dollars more a night, and stay at sapphire falls? (of which i have done in the past at sapphire falls, and loved it)

Photo Tour of a Refurbed Room at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort

By Dave Shute

(For the first page of this review of Disney’s Yacht Club Resort,  see this .)

In late 2017, Disney’s Yacht Club resort completed a much-needed room refurb, and I had the chance to stay in a refurbed room in early November.

A complete photo tour follows, but for those familiar with the former rooms here, here’s the key points:

  • The rooms are much more livable than before
  • Yacht Club rooms were never very interesting, and have gotten even less so
  • A gulf has emerged between Beach Club rooms and Yacht Club rooms.  In the past they were largely identical other than balconies, color schemes and decorations. Now, after each of their recent refurbs, while they continue to have the same basic characteristics in terms of size, capacity, bath layout and such, the Yacht Club rooms are better on almost every other dimension

STANDARD ROOMS AT DISNEY’S YACHT CLUB RESORT

Standard rooms at the Yacht Club sleep either four or five–four on two queens, and the fifth on a fold-down sofa bed, if present.

when was disney yacht club renovated

At the entry, the bath area is on one side…

when was disney yacht club renovated

…and the coffee area, mini-fridge, and closet on the other.

when was disney yacht club renovated

The coffee maker is a Keurig–unusual in Disney World rooms–and underneath it is a good-sized drawer.

when was disney yacht club renovated

Below both, and behind a door, is the same sort of glass-fronted mini-fridge that’s been common in recently refurbed Disney World rooms.

when was disney yacht club renovated

Beyond these is the re-done closet. Note the nice paneling and the shelves above and below on the right side.

when was disney yacht club renovated

Inside the doors you’ll find more structured storage. Older Disney rooms have just a long blank closet with a long clothes rod and a shelf above.  This is much more helpful.

when was disney yacht club renovated

The safe is quite large– my book is 6×9 inches, and you could fit a more than a dozen.  In fact, you probably should.

when was disney yacht club renovated

The other side of the room contains the divided bath. The sink area, which used to be open to the room, now has a sliding barn door that can limit the effect of light and noise in here on the rest of the room.

when was disney yacht club renovated

Inside you’ll find double sinks and, new with this refurb, a make-up mirror.

when was disney yacht club renovated

The hair dryer.

when was disney yacht club renovated

Storage underneath the sinks.

when was disney yacht club renovated

The tub and toilet are in their own separate space, now closed off by a pocket door rather than a swinging door. I’m not a fan of the new sliding shower doors which replace the old curtain. They make it too hard to bathe kids.

when was disney yacht club renovated

The two heads of the rainfall shower make it much more usable.

when was disney yacht club renovated

The toiletries.

when was disney yacht club renovated

Back in the room, on one side you’ll find two queen beds.

when was disney yacht club renovated

The bed side from the back. In four person rooms, you’ll find an easy chair where the desk is, and the desk is moved to the TV side of the room, where the couch is in five person rooms.

when was disney yacht club renovated

A closer view of one of the queens. Note that, consistent with recent trends in hotels–especially higher end hotels–these beds are high off the floor. At about 30 inches they may be as much as six inches taller than you are used to, and are about three inches higher than the beds in the Beach Club. Shorter folk and those with any number of disabilities may have difficulty getting into them.

when was disney yacht club renovated

New in this refurb is a set of (?halogen) pencil reading lights. There are four in total, one on each side of each queen. They come on when you pull them out of their slot in the headboard, and you can aim them.

when was disney yacht club renovated

The additional bulb-style reading lights on the walls are each controlled by a single switch per bed, so both of a bed’s wall-mounted lights will light up when that switch is thrown.  The pencil lights provide more control and more light.

when was disney yacht club renovated

There’s a small bedside shelf with a power point for four devices (two plug, two USB) between the near bed and the bath wall.

when was disney yacht club renovated

In addition between the two beds is a more traditional bedside table. I believe the design of this table is meant to recall the steamer trunks that used to be taken on transatlantic cruises.  We’ll see other gestures towards this design concept in the dresser. Also, if you scan up above, you’ll see a similar theming to the mini-fridge enclosure.

when was disney yacht club renovated

The table has another 4 device power point and three small storage drawers, with one big enough for your most important books.

when was disney yacht club renovated

The undersides of the bed are now open…

when was disney yacht club renovated

…creating a handy place to shove your luggage.

when was disney yacht club renovated

The desk includes 8 power points…

when was disney yacht club renovated

…and underneath is is a rolling table, handy for eating or playing games.

when was disney yacht club renovated

The TV side of the room has the connecting door (if present), dresser, TV, and a couch in five person rooms. In four person rooms, the desk is moved to this side.

when was disney yacht club renovated

The TV side from the back.

when was disney yacht club renovated

The TV is 54 inches–much bigger than that in the Beach Club rooms.

when was disney yacht club renovated

The dresser includes nine drawers and a cabinet.  There’s plenty of storage in these rooms, even for five people. There’s a four-device power point at either end of the dresser.

when was disney yacht club renovated

The couch…

when was disney yacht club renovated

…folds down into a bed, which I measured as 33″ by 75.”  The high sides at the ends make it sleep a little shorter than this.  The cushion is firm but thin, and so the bed  is best suited to kids, the uncomplaining, or those whose complaints are safely ignored.

when was disney yacht club renovated

Above the couch is this art. The Mickey head and reference to Disney World’s 1971 opening is one of three subtle gestures in the room to Disney theming.

when was disney yacht club renovated

The second is in this art on the wall between the beds and the bath…

when was disney yacht club renovated

…and the third is in this curtain that separates the balcony from the room.

when was disney yacht club renovated

Look closely at what at first seems a map of the constellations of the night sky, and you will see some constellations hitherto unknown to mankind.

when was disney yacht club renovated

Almost all Yacht Club rooms have full-width balconies, unlike the Beach Club, which combines regular balconies, small balconies and uselessly tiny ones.

This balcony difference was traditionally the largest difference between Yacht Club and Beach Club rooms. But after the 2015 Beach Club room refurb and 2017 Yacht Club room refurb, more differences have emerged, as the Yacht Club rooms now have…

  • Keurig coffee makers
  • Wooden floors
  • More structured closet storage
  • Larger safe
  • Barn-door closure to the sink area
  • A make-up mirror
  • Pocket door access to the bath
  • Dual shower heads
  • Sliding shower doors
  • Under-bed storage
  • Halogen individual reading lights

…most of which most people would consider improvements in livability over the Beach Club rooms.

My co-author Josh has a review of this same room here , with better photos.

Thanks so much for the awesome update. We’ve stayed at the Beach Club before it’s most recent renovation and found the resort to be underwhelming but loved the location.

We are staying in the Yacht Club in February and are looking forward to it!

Have fun, Anthony, and let me know what you think!

Hey Dave. Was the entire YC refurbed, or are there still sections yet-to-be updated? Also, your suitcase looked like a carry-on; for families rocking large piece luggage, do you think they’d also fit under the beds? When adding a double-stroller & crib to the mix, it was actually a little tight in our Poly room. Thankfully we parked our stroller in grandma & grandpa’s king bedroom next door 🙂

Hey Eric! The entire YC was refurbed, and the refurb is complete.

The bag you see, packed the way I packed it, is about 11 inches. Looks to me like there’s four or five more inches of clearance. So I guess it depends on the depth of your bags. Some bags will fit on the closet, in either of the two hanging areas.

These rooms are smaller than the Poly rooms, so you may be challenged, especially if you need to use the connecting door on this trip–as in front of it is the best place for strollers.

Thanks Dave! No grandparents for the upcoming trip, so that’s where the stroller shall go:-) Although, we are actually booked at BC (splitting the trip, half Pop, half BC). I was curious to see if YC was the same price and if we should switch. The main reason we’d switch is the guaranteed balcony. I need to check your BC review about the best way to request a (larger) balcony room!

Eric, I have to say that after both refurbs, I do prefer the YC rooms, even beyond the balcony issue.

[…] Dave over at yourfirstvisit.net was nice enough to invite me over to take a look. He has much more thorough thoughts and some comparisons to refurbished rooms over at the Beach Club Resort in this report. […]

Disney's Yacht Club Resort Update: A Look Inside a Renovated Room

Feels extremely bland to me for the no doubt exorbitant rates they will be charging.

I always thought the theming was fairly subtle at both Yacht and Beach Clubs, so I personally like the new look. The old rooms were very dated (as is/was most of the Yacht Club in general, but that's improving), and I find the new rooms to be far more modern and elegant, like something you'd see in Bay Lake Tower. I think given that this is a Deluxe resort, those willing to pay the higher price will like the new refreshed look.

Missed opportunity.

I like everything except for the hardwood floors. While easier to keep clean, I would think there is more of a chance for the rooms to be louder with the hardwoods making it much easier to hear your neighbors.

when was disney yacht club renovated

I think they look very much like the new Pop rooms. Seems like Disney is going generic in the room theming. Would like to see more details so you can tell which resort you are actually staying in.

Disney World’s Resort Hotel Refurbishment Schedule (2024-2025)

At any given time, multiple resorts, hotels, and villas are undergoing refurbishment at Walt Disney World. Refurbishments can range from major construction to minor items like a brief pool closure.

Below, we’ve listed the scheduled resort refurbishments for the Walt Disney World Resorts. If you plan an upcoming stay, you might want to take some of these refurbishments into consideration. For instance, do you want to stay at a hotel where loud construction begins at 9:00 a.m.? If you enjoy sleeping late, the answer is probably no. However, a little noise might not be a big deal if you plan to arrive at the parks early every morning.

Another consideration is whether you’ll spend much time at the pool. When one pool closes for refurbishment, the other pools at the resort get crowded. Generally, Disney completes most pool refurbishments in the cooler months. But if you have a small child and see that an aquatic play area will be closed during your trip, you might consider another resort.

Of course, not all of these refurbishments are dealbreakers. You’ll need to weigh the importance of each item for yourself. Overall, I would ask myself if the resort is still worth the expense with the refurbishment that’s taking place. If not, this might be an excellent time to consider an alternative.

To minimize disruptions during your stay, activities that may create noise will not start earlier than 9:00 a.m. The former walkway along Seven Seas Lagoon is also closed due to this construction. During this time, guests will have to take a construction path between the Grand Floridian and Polynesian. (The construction path is closed as of this update.) Refurbishment Dates: Ongoing

Disney Resorts Refurbishments Conclusion

Disney’s refurbishment schedule is often extensive and continually ongoing. With this many resort hotels, constant refurbishment is inevitable.

If you’re planning on visiting any of these resorts, it’s best to check the refurbishment dates to see if your desired resort will be having a facelift during your stay. Although many amenities will remain available at most resorts, guests can almost always expect construction noise during the day.

Disney World Room Tour: Disney’s Yacht Club

Disney World Room Tour: Disney's Yacht Club

Today we’re taking you through one of the beautiful refurbished rooms at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort .

About Disney’s Yacht Club Resort

The Yacht Club and it’s sister resort, The Beach Club, embody a New England seaside vibe along Crescent Lake, adjacent to World Showcase in EPCOT.  This Deluxe Resort offers plenty of dining and entertainment for guests staying on property.  Nautical touches throughout the resort, along with amenities like Stormalong Bay , a sandy beach, and easy access to EPCOT and Hollywood Studios, make this resort a personal favorite of mine.

Stormalong Bay pool area featuring a windmill and an island accessible by 2 white bridges

Yacht Club Rooms

Yacht Club Room

All of the rooms at the Yacht Club were refurbished in late 2017 to bring the decor up to date, and add a light, modern feel.  Now, hues of navy blue and beige created a muted nautical vibe with accents like riveting and textile add to the subtle theming. Almost all the standard rooms at Yacht Club can sleep five guests, with 2 queen-sized beds, and one twin pull-down sofa bed.

Yacht Club Room

The dark woods in the floors and furniture give the whole space a sophisticated feel, and the details on the furniture give it a steamer trunk look and feel.  There is a large chest of drawers below the mounted flat screen TV that provides tons of space for storage of clothes.

During the latest renovations of most rooms at Disney, they are opting for a laminate floor over rugs, to make the rooms easier to clean, and more allergy/dust friendly.  They’ve also eliminated the platforms under the beds, which leaves a huge open space to store luggage during your stay.

Yacht Club Room

A small enclosed nook houses the small mini-fridge, and there’s a cute little coffee station above it.  You’ll find a 1-cup Keurig coffee maker, along with a selection of Joffery’s K-cups.  Additional glasses and mugs are stored on the shelves above.

Yacht Club Room

A huge wardrobe stands in place of the traditional sliding closet, which has tons of room in it.  The smaller door to the right hides the room safe, as well as a fold out ironing board and iron storage.

Yacht Club Room

Directly across from the closet space is a divided bath.  The sink area is now closed off to the rest of the room with a large sliding barn door.  You’ll find double sinks and a huge lighted mirror.  There’s also tons of storage space below the sinks, as well as a lighted rotating make-up mirror.

Yacht Club Room

The toilet and tub/shower are in their own sperate place, closed off by a pocket door, to save space.  Sliding glass doors replace the older shower curtains.  In the shower, there is a fixed showerhead, as well as a smaller handheld sprayer.  Perfect for rising those sandy feet after a day in Stormalong Bay .

Yacht Club Room

Every room includes either a full balcony or a balconette.  If you’ve reserved a water view room, you can expect fantastic views of Crescent Lake and the Boardwalk Resort just across the water.  From this room we had an amazing view across the water, and we were able to see the fireworks from IllumiNations at night.

Yacht Club Room

Skyliner Transportation – Coming Soon!

In addition to the amazing resort amenities and location, the Yacht Club is also one of the resorts that will be served by the new Skyliner transportation system .  Beginning this Fall, the Skyliner will take guests from the International Gateway entrance (a quick walk from the resorts main entrance) to Hollywood Studios, as well as other resorts, including the new Rivera Resort, opening late this year!

Early 2025 Refurbishment Announced for Disney’s Yacht Club Rooms

Facebook

Along with the lengthy refurbishments announced for Stormalong Bay early next year , details have just been released stating that Disney’s Yacht Club Resort is poised for a room refurbishment project starting early 2025 as well.

Details of the Refurbishment Plan

The renovation aims to refurbish “some guest rooms”. Whether that’s integrating contemporary furnishings, updated technology, and a refreshed color scheme that aligns with the resort’s distinguished nautical theme, no official details have been provided.

This refresh could be as simple as aesthetic enhancements that would include new bedding, furniture, and decor updates within select guest rooms.

Expected Impact on Guests

From January 2025 through May 2025, while the refurbishment of these guest rooms, as well as Stormalong Bay, is underway certain sections of the resort might face temporary closures or limited availability. However, based on their recent announcement it seems Disney plans to minimize disruptions, and ensuring guests retain access to most of the amenities and dining experiences that the Yacht Club Resort offers.

Closing Thoughts

The room refurbishment at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort, scheduled for completion in early 2025, signifies Disney’s ongoing dedication to maintaining the highest standards of luxury and convenience for its guests. For those planning a visit around this time, be sure to plan ahead and understand the alternative pool options between Yacht and Beach Club resorts.

As more details are released, we’ll be sure to keep you up to date on the DVC Shop blog .

PHOTOS – Disney’s Yacht Club Gets a Refreshed Lobby and Low Room Rates

If you’ve ever dreamed of staying at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort, you may want to consider some of the low rates we’ve been seeing. Disney’s Yacht Club is part of a duo with Disney’s Beach Club, and there’s a few good reasons to consider a stay soon, including a refreshed lobby.

Right now Disney’s Beach Club is not fully open. Only the Disney Vacation Club villas are open, along with some dining and the merchandise shop. Disney’s Beach Club and Yacht Club are right next to EPCOT, and near Disney’s Hollywood Studios, too.

Although they can be hard to find, there are some deals available at Disney’s Yacht Club – and our travel team can help you find those deals. Besides being much less crowded than normal, Disney’s Yacht Club has one of the best pools on property, and the lovely lobby just experienced a refresh.

Our field team swung by to snap some photos, and snag some delicious dinner to-go via mobile ordering at Ale and Compass (more on that in an upcoming blog post). Let’s take a moment to bask in the beauty of this refreshed lobby.

The area rugs are beautiful blue tones, with white circular accents – with hidden Mickeys of course. The furniture is modern in crisp white and neutral shades. This new look keeps the classic, sophisticated atmosphere, but brings it up to date.

Some of the travel deals we are seeing end in early spring so a stay in the near future will give you a chance to enjoy the new lobby, the reduced attendance, the resort’s amenities, and at a lower rate. Instead of hunting around the find a good deal, let us do the work .

Have you ever stayed at Disney’s Yacht Club? What do you think of this new lobby look?

Disney Confirms 5 Month Shut Down in 2025, Hidden Notice Alerts Guests

in Walt Disney World

An entrance sign to walt disney world, featuring a large blue banner with the park's name in stylized white lettering, flanked by flags, under a clear blue sky with fluffy clouds.

One of Disney’s most popular resorts is about to undergo quite a large closure, and many guests do not know about it yet.

disney's yacht club

At Walt Disney World Resort, there are over 25 resorts for guests to choose from when they are coming to the most magical place on earth, and all of them fall into different tiered categories for different price points.

For example, if you are not looking to spend an exorbitant amount of money on your hotel, the value resorts would be perfect for you. These are resorts like Disney’s Pop Century Resort or the All-Star Resorts. These hotels are simple in terms of room layout, but with recent refurbishments, they have the perfect sleek look with that magical touch of Disney.

Moderate resorts like Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort kick things up a notch with more in-depth theming in the rooms, as well as around the resorts.

Then, the deluxe-level resorts are the highest-cost hotels at Disney, like the Grand Floridian or Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. These rooms and the overall grounds of the hotel are meant to transport you into different spaces with detailed theming. These are also the hotels that guests stay in when they purchase from DVC (Disney Vacation Club).

Since the deluxe-level hotels cost the most, it is undoubtedly upsetting when you find out that there will be a ton of construction at your hotel during your stay, which can possibly ruin bits of the magic for you.

Stormalong Bay Pool Yacht Club

Recently, we learned that at Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resort, Stormalong Bay and Shipwreck Pool, the most coveted pools on Disney property, will undergo a lengthy refurbishment in 2025.

As Disney noted:

“From January 2025 through June 2025, Stormalong Bay and Shipwreck Pool at Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts will be closed for routine maintenance. Guests may see or hear construction work during daytime hours. During this time, Guests are welcome to swim at the Tidal, Admiral and Dunes Cove leisure pools.”

As a Disney World local, I would have to say that while Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resort does have a great location as it is in walking distance to EPCOT, the pool with its lazy river, sand bottom, and impeccable theming would be the main reason that I would want to book a room at the resort, so this multi-month closure that extends into the summer has likely caused some guests to rethink where they want to stay on their 2025 vacation.

Now, we have confirmed that the construction will not stop there.

Disney's Yacht Club Room

During nearly the same period, the Yacht Club side of the hotel will also undergo a room renovation. This means that there will be added construction, noise, and fewer rooms available. Disney’s website states, “From January through May 2025, some Guest rooms at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort will be under refurbishment. While Guests may see or hear construction work during daytime hours, most Resort hotel amenities will remain available.”

Knowing that Yacht Club will be filled with construction and the pool will not be available for the first half of 2025 makes the deluxe location a lot less appealing. The hotel’s price point is still around $600 per night, which is comparable to what the resort is currently charging, which bounces between $600 and $700 per night without any closures or construction.

yacht club lobby

Disney’s Contemporary Resort will also be shutting down many of their rooms on the Bay Lake side of the resort in 2025 for a refurbishment as well.

We do not yet know what the rooms will look like at the Yacht Club once they are refurbished, but Disney’s BoardWalk Inn did just get its own room refurbishment, just steps from the Yacht Club. The refurbishment has actually gotten quite a bit of flack from fans who think that the new modern, clean look is comparable to a Hilton or Marriott room, which lacks the theming that Disney is known for.

Disney has been outsourcing a lot of these refurbishment projects to the same teams who work out of the new resorts in Las Vegas instead of using Imagineering, which has been shown via the new modern aesthetic that the hotels are bringing in.

Walt Disney World Revamps and New Experiences Coming in 2024 and Beyond

Get ready for a whirlwind of exciting changes at Walt Disney World Resort! The next several months of 2024 and the whispers of future developments promise thrilling updates for theme park enthusiasts.

First up, EPCOT fans can gear up for the grand opening of CommuniCore Hall & Plaza this June, with a new Encanto (2021) show debuting on the new stage, as well.

Magical performance under a festive canopy: a vibrant scene from Disney's 'Encanto' where characters come together to enjoy music and celebration in a warmly lit, colorful setting adorned with flowers and lights.

This brand-new area is sure to become a hub of activity and exploration next to the World Celebration Gardens.

Over at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, the beloved Animation Courtyard theater is currently undergoing a refurbishment. This exciting renovation paves the way for the debut of a refreshed show, “The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure,” which is set to premiere this fall.

Magic Kingdom also holds the potential for some exciting news. With hints of a major expansion project near Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, fans are eagerly awaiting official announcements to see what magic this area has in store.

Voyage of the Little Mermaid entrance

Disney recently unveiled a $60 billion investment plan for the coming years, setting hearts racing with anticipation for future developments that Disney CEO Bob Iger has promised will come with expansions and higher capacity in the theme parks. With Tiana’s Bayou Adventure opening its doors in 2024, speculation is high for a potential late-2025 reveal coming in August.

Animal Kingdom is also poised for a change. The beloved “It’s Tough to be a Bug!” show is expected to close its curtains later in 2024. However, fear not, animal enthusiasts! A brand new Zootopia -themed show is slated to take its place, likely by 2025, promising a fresh and exciting experience.

EPCOT’s Test Track is also undergoing a significant overhaul. This iconic attraction will be revamped for a whole new generation of thrill seekers, ensuring an unforgettable experience for all. One of the most significant changes on the horizon is the potential transformation of DinoLand U.S.A. This area is expected to be reimagined into a brand new Tropical Americas land, featuring beloved characters and stories from Indiana Jones, Coco (2017), and Encanto.

Mickey and friends inside of Disney's Animal Kingdom Park.

Now that Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District (CFTOD), Disney’s governing district, have settled their lawsuits, there is more room for the state and theme park to work together to get permits and changes approved for the Walt Disney World Resort.

Walt Disney World’s governing board meeting returned to normalcy on Wednesday, offering a stark contrast to the eventful gatherings of the past year.

Gone were the typical hallmarks of a heated municipal meeting – fiery speeches from the chairperson, calls for resignations of board members appointed by Governor DeSantis, and the back-and-forth exchanges that often dominate such forums.

Instead, this session focused on the practicalities of park operations. Board members unanimously approved contracts for essential infrastructure projects, proving the two are on the way to mending the once feud-filled relationship.

Would you want to stay at a Disney resort that is under construction?

Disney’s Yacht Club Vs Beach Club

When deciding between the Disney Yacht Club and Beach Club for your vacation, it’s essential to understand their unique features and the subtle differences that might influence your choice. Both resorts offer luxurious accommodations with a nautical theme, sharing many amenities, including the acclaimed Stormalong Bay pool. However, their distinct styles, room options, and proximity to Disney parks set them apart.

Thematic Differences

  • Disney Yacht Club: Features a more formal, sophisticated theme inspired by the seaside cottages of the Northeast, with a color palette of modern greys and whites. It’s designed to offer an elegant experience reminiscent of a yacht club.
  • Disney Beach Club: Boasts a relaxed, cheerful vibe with a design influenced by New England-style family resorts of the 1920s. Bright colors and a playful atmosphere make it feel more casual and family-friendly.

Location and Proximity to EPCOT

  • Beach Club Advantage: Closer to EPCOT, making it a shorter walk (about five to ten minutes) from the majority of its rooms to the park entrance.
  • Yacht Club Proximity: Slightly further from EPCOT than the Beach Club but offers closer access to shared amenities like Stormalong Bay. It’s also marginally nearer to Disney’s BoardWalk area, enhancing its appeal for guests prioritizing this entertainment district.

Room Types and Accommodations

  • Both resorts offer rooms that are similar in size and start at a standard rate of approximately $522 per night . The main distinction comes in the form of Beach Club Villas, which are designed to accommodate larger groups and families, offering amenities like in-unit washers/dryers and fully equipped kitchens.

Dining Options

  • Each resort houses unique dining experiences, with about five restaurants each, ranging from casual bites at Beaches & Cream Soda Shop at the Beach Club to fine dining at Yachtsman Steakhouse at the Yacht Club.

Shared Access: Guests of both resorts enjoy easy access to additional dining options on the Disney World BoardWalk , alongside quick walks to EPCOT and Hollywood Studios.

Why should I choose the Beach Club or Yacht Club?

  • For a Vibrant, Family-Friendly Atmosphere: Choose the Beach Club for its lively colors, casual ambiance, and villas suited for larger groups.
  • For Sophistication and Elegance: Opt for the Yacht Club if you prefer a more refined environment that echoes the luxury of a yacht club experience.

In conclusion, while both the Yacht and Beach Club Resorts offer exceptional service, amenities, and convenience for visiting Disney World, your choice might ultimately come down to personal preference regarding the theme, atmosphere, and specific accommodation needs. Whether you’re drawn to the elegance of the Yacht Club or the playful charm of the Beach Club, both promise a memorable stay.

Difference in Rooms at Yacht and Beach Club Resort 2024

beach-club-vs-yacht-club-rooms

If comparing the room size is part of your deciding factor for the Beach Club vs Yacht Club, we will have to call this a tie.  The rooms at the Yacht and Beach Club are pretty much identical when it comes down to size.

We will say the one advantage that the Beach Club has that the Yacht doesn’t is the addition of the Walt Disney World villas . If you are looking to enjoy a room that’s accommodating for larger groups you’ll want to take a look at having your very own villa. Having a villa can provide many benefits, if it fits in your budget. For instance, most villas have in-unit washer/dryers along with a fully equipped kitchen and living room. Villas are not for everyone, so if you don’t require one and don’t otherwise care for the color and pop of Beach Club, perhaps the Yacht Club will be a better choice.

What is the difference between Disney Beach Club and Beach Club Villas?

As a general rule of thumb the Beach Club Villa rooms are located in a completely separate building when compared to the regular Beach Club or Yacht Club. This is actually the set up for a majority of the villas located at Walt Disney World as they are all part of the Disney Vacation Club.

Location When Comparing Beach Club Vs Yacht Club

average price for disney vacation

One of the aspects that everyone should look at before picking out a hotel at Walt Disney World is the location. Location is key. Thankfully, when deciding between the Beach Club vs Yacht Club the location should not be  a factor. Both resorts are relatively close to Epcot, however, there are some advantages to each resort over the other.

For instance, the Beach Club Resort is a few minutes closer to Epcot. With this in mind, you are also that much closer to the Disney Skyliner Station which can then take you over to Hollywood Studios.

While the Yacht Club Resort is not that much farther away, if you have young ones or even elderly people with you who may need to do less walking, the Beach Club Resort may be the best option. Depending on where you stay at the Yacht Club Resort, you might be closer towards Disney’s Boardwalk than the Beach Club may be. This may not be true for all rooms, but certain rooms are indeed closer. If having quick access to the Boardwalk is a requirement for you, then maybe the Yacht Club is the best option.

Dining at Beach and Yacht Club Resort 2024

yacht-club-beach

Is having access to the best Disney World restaurants your deciding factor between the Disney beach club vs Yacht club? You’ll be happy to find that both resorts provide an array of dining options. As we discussed though given that the resorts are essentially connected, you’ll have a ton of options close by.

When you look at the resorts separately each resort would have about five restaurants each. One thing that might be useful in deciding where you want to stay is where the restaurants are actually located. If there is a particular restaurant your family wants to eat at, maybe consider the resort that is closer towards that particular restaurant. Below is the complete list of restaurants at each resort.

What are the Disney Beach Club restaurants?

  • Cape May Cafe
  • Martha’s Vineyard
  • Beaches & Cream Soda Shop
  • Hurricane Hanna’s

What are the Disney Yacht Club Restaurants ?

  • Yachtsman Steakhouse
  • Crew’s Cup Lounge
  • Ale & Compass
  • Market at Ale & Compass

Disney’s Yacht Club vs Beach Club – In Conclusion

disney's-beach-club-disney-package

In conclusion, there are not a lot of differences between each resort. The pool for instance, is shared between both resorts. While very subtle, they do have certain advantages/disadvantages over one or the other. When deciding on whether or not to stay at the Beach Club vs Yacht Club , hopefully these factors can benefit you in deciding which resort to stay at!

We think that either Disney’s Yacht Club or Beach Club would be a wonderful choice for families looking for incredible dining and entertainment, or even couples looking for a romantic night out on the BoardWalk. We love how close both the Beach Club and the Yacht Club to EPCOT, and only a boat ride away from Disney’s Hollywood Studios .

Now You Know: Yacht Club announces renovation progress; Spammy Jammy this weekend

The project includes new build above the port cochere and a “total gut rehab” of the interior to provide upgraded social and dining spaces.

A new addition over the port cochere will be used for office space, freeing up key areas in the existing building for a new member’s lounge and increased dining space.

Construction at the Marco Island Yacht Club is moving forward on schedule aiming to complete this major renovation in time for the holiday season.

“We are really pleased with the progress as well as the working relationship with our partners, MKH Architecture and D Garret Construction,” said Dave Everitt, MIYC chairman of the board. “We’ve managed to overcome obstacles and surprises, holding to the schedule so members can enjoy a beautifully transformed clubhouse before the end of the year.”

Highlights of the project include the clubhouse, which will feature a fresh, modern décor; state-of-the-art kitchens and an additional bar upstairs bar.

Also, a brand-new members lounge will be established, offering a comfortable and inviting space for socializing and relaxation.

General Manager Missy Duffy emphasized that the club remains active even without its clubhouse.

“We continue to hold activities at outside locations, and of course we have a variety of boating events on the water and socializing on the docks, ensuring that the club's vibrant community remains active and engaged,” she said. “We are also busy planning and preparing for a spectacular grand opening of the new clubhouse toward the end of the year."

Spammy Jammy is this weekend

Spammy Jammy, held each June at the Little Bar in Goodland, is an annual and legendary event all about Spam, pajamas and warding off storms during hurricane season. It’s also an excuse to party, not that one is needed – especially in Goodland.

Put on your PJ’s and head to Goodland this Saturday to mark 45 years of Little Bar and bring your best Spam sculpture.

Music will be from Stumpy Joe + Farney and the Railford Starke Band. The event is from 5 until 8:30 p.m., Saturday, June 29 at 205 Harbor Place N., Goodland.
