Tips, Tricks, Tools and Advice about Walt Disney World Resort

Are Disney Resort Pools Heated? Is Winter Swimming Possible?

disney-pools

Are you headed to Disney World in the winter and worried about freezing in a pool at your Disney Resort ? Have your kids been begging to let them swim, but the cold temperatures have made you hesitate?

Yes, all Disney resort pools are heated. They are maintained at a temperature of 82 °F (~28 °C) year-round to ensure a comfortable swimming experience for guests regardless of the season.

This means that the water is just the right temperature for a night swim or a morning dip if you want to beat the crowds.

But what about fall and winter time? Is it too cold to swim?

What’s the best time to head down to the pool?

Let’s answer these questions and more about swimming at Disney Resort pools during your vacation.

Before we get started, if you’re a fan of all things Disney and love discussing theme parks and planning Disney vacations, then I want to announce the launch of my new private Facebook group, the  Disney Park Advisor Community . Water temperature at Disney World pools

Water temperature at Disney World pools is a common concern among travelers, especially when visiting during the cooler months of the year. Fortunately, all Disney World resort and park pools are heated to a uniform 82 degrees Fahrenheit throughout the year so that guests can enjoy a warm swim without fail. However, it is important to note that how warm or cold the pool may ‘feel’ can be impacted by external temperatures. This means that if you plan on swimming outdoors during the winter months it might be wise to dress appropriately; bring a sweater or jacket with you so you aren’t too cold while not in the water!

Ultimately, there is no need to worry – regardless of weather conditions outside – when it comes to Disney World pool temperatures; each and every pool is heated to precisely 82 degrees Fahrenheit for optimal guest comfort.

Can you swim in the pools at Disney resorts during the winter?

Yes, you can swim in the pools at Disney resorts during the winter because all the pools at Disney resorts are heated to 82 °F (~28 °C) year-round, ensuring a comfortable swimming experience for guests regardless of the season.

In addition, the weather in Central Florida, even during winter months is very mild, so while it may be snowing up north, in Orlando, the average high in January is 71 °F (21 °C) and February it’s 75 °F (24 °C), with an average low of 52 °F (11 °C) and 54 °F (12 °C) respectively. Combine that with the Central Florida sunshine and it can be quite warm even during the winter months.

So when you combine the mild outdoor temperatures with the heated pools, it can make for a very nice experience, even during months when you wouldn’t otherwise think it possible.

Are Disney resort pools salt water?

The Walt Disney World Resort provides a wide selection of swimming pools for their guests to enjoy, ranging from heated family-friendly pools to private plunge pools and slides. However, none of the pool options are considered true saltwater pools.

Instead, many of the resort’s pools are treated with a chemical sanitizing agent called Bromine. This is usually preferred over chlorine because it offers just as much sanitation but is less harsh on swimmers’ skin and eyes and doesn’t have that chemical smell that often accompanies traditional chlorinated pool water.

While all of the resort’s pools use a form of chemical filtration, two resorts have opted to install saltwater filtration systems in their pools instead. The Big Blue Pool at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort and Storm Along Bay at Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts both feature this slightly more natural method of chlorination.

Best time to enjoy the pools

Swimming in the pools at Disney World is an amazing way to beat the heat and escape from the noontime theme park crowds. The best time to venture into the pool is during the middle of the afternoon when temperatures are highest. It’s a great opportunity for a cooling break, without needing to leave Disney World property.

There are several different pools around Disney World that provide an array of activities and fun ways to cool down. From thrilling water slides, to leisure pools with floating lounges, and even group or family-friendly games; there’s something for everyone at one of Disney’s world-famous resorts.

For a true tropical paradise experience, opt for one of their sandy-beach themed resort pools that offer spectacular views over palm trees and white sand beaches – all amid Florida sunshine. Upon your return back to the theme parks after your refreshing dip in the pool, you’ll be ready to go on your favorite rides with renewed energy.

As far as amusement park experiences go, swimming in one of Disney’s many fabulous pools presents great rewards and unforgettable memories. So next time you visit Orlando’s most famous parks, try taking a calming break in one of its iconic resort pools – all within just a stone’s throw distance from some of the best rides that Disney has on offer!

Pool hours and amenities

Swimming pools at the Walt Disney World resorts are open and available to resort guests all year long, providing a refreshing getaway during any time of year. Depending on the hotel, pool hours can vary from 9am-11pm, making them a great destination for families looking to have some fun in the sun. All main pools are only open while lifeguards are on duty so that guests can rest assured that their little ones will be safe while swimming.

In addition to pool hours, many Disney World resorts offer immersive theming, exciting water slides and kiddie play areas that make the perfect midday escape from scorching Florida sunshine. For those seeking some peace and quiet, weather permitting there may be designated “quiet” pools as well. Furthermore, Disney has also paid close attention to pool accessibility for guests with disabilities or special needs by providing lift or sloped entries with handrails and even pool wheelchairs when needed.

The Resorts Gal Guide to Disney’s Stormalong Bay (With Photos)

Stormalong Bay is the tremendous feature pool area at Disney’s Beach and Yacht Club Resorts. A day spent here might be the best part of your Walt Disney World vacation.

We planned our first stay at Disney’s Beach Club many years ago and fell in love with the entire Epcot Resorts Area during that stay. But what surprised us most was how much we enjoyed the massive pool. We found ourselves wanting to spend more and more time at Stormalong Bay than anywhere else.

On our last vacation day, we completely blew off our park plans and spent the entire day (and evening) at Stormalong Bay. I picked up a paperback novel in the hotel’s gift shop and found a place in the shade to read while my son played with other children at the pool.

Even though the day consisted of small things, like reading a book, it’s still one of my favorite memories. We both know that sometimes the little things become the best memories.

For some, that might be helping your child build a sandcastle at the sand bottom pool. That is until they meet a few pool friends. Soon after, you can return to reading that book. Meanwhile, the children will conspire to meet back at the pool the next day, oblivious to your vacation plans.

Whatever it is, Stormalong Bay has a way of making you want to linger a little longer than expected. Below, we’ll discuss everything you need to know about Stormalong Bay. Additionally, we’ve included a video with clips of various pool areas toward the bottom of this article.

Refurbishment Announcement for Stormalong Bay : From January 2025 through June 2025, Stormalong Bay and Shipwreck Pool at Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts will be closed for routine maintenance. Guests may see or hear construction work during daytime hours. (This was originally scheduled to end in May of 2025.)

Pool Details for Planning a Day at Stormalong Bay

Stormalong Bay is more of a mini water park than a pool. The pool area is over three acres and holds 750,000 gallons of water. Those areas include a lazy river, multiple whirlpool spas or hot tubs, sand bottom pool areas, waterfalls, a waterslide, a kiddie pool, a sand bar, and a shipwreck, among other things.

It’s important to be aware that Stormalong Bay has deep areas. The various pools range from zero-entry to 8′ (feet) deep. That 8′ deep area is limited to a portion of the lazy river. However, some other pool areas transition from shallow to 4′ and 5′ (feet) deep.

The photo below shows a shallow pool for children at the far end of the pool. A sand bar sits in the center of the pool, where children spend hours building sandcastles. However, looking toward the photo’s center, you’ll notice a hot tub. Then, on the opposite side, steps lead into the lazy river, where it’s immediately 6′ deep and soon after 8′ deep.

Complimentary lifejackets are provided for anyone who needs them. Additionally, lifeguards are stationed across the entire pool deck.

Stormalong Bay is open daily from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 p.m. during the busier times of the year. Guests of either Disney’s Yacht or Beach Club can access the pool during regular operating hours.

Wristbands are provided at the gate, allowing guests to come and go from the pool. If you want prime seating (AKA by the pool, in the shade, or a table and chairs), you’ll want to rope-drop the pool when it opens.

On our last stay (in mid-August), guests lined up as early as 9:30 a.m. at both pool gates to secure seats. While plenty of chairs are provided at the pool, it’s often one of those scenarios where people throw their items or a towel down and then mysteriously disappear.

lounge chairs

Pool hours might be reduced depending on several factors. For instance, when we stayed at the Yacht Club in January, the pool was only open until 10:00 p.m. due to fewer crowds. (We had no trouble finding seats during this time of year.)

Another instance is if you visit on a colder day. The pool might not open until the temperature increases to a certain degree, or if it’s exceptionally cold, it might remain temporarily closed.

However, the pools at Walt Disney World, including Stormalong Bay, are heated to 82 degrees year-round. So when it’s cooler outside, the pool will often feel pleasant, especially in the evenings.

The Sand Bottom Pool

Most of Stormalong Bay’s pool area has a sand bottom. This is soothing, unlike the typical abrasive concrete bottom pools that leave knees scraped.

Stairs in the center of Stormalong Bay lead up to a private alcove.

Here, you’ll find two separate hot tubs nestled among the rocks.

It was so hot in August that the pool water felt like a hot tub. So, no one was using the whirlpools. However, during our stay last winter, they were constantly packed.

Waterfalls cascade down the rocks on both sides of the hot tub area.

Here are a few more photos of this area from various angles.

Water is various depths throughout the pool.

One side of this area adjoins the lazy river. A rope acts as a divider between the pool area and the lazy river.

The pool stretches linearly on the opposite side (toward the right). A volleyball net made from pool noodles provides an excellent place to get up a game.

This area is where the afternoon activities for children take place. Those with children (who want to participate in the pool activities) will want to grab a spot on this end of the pool early.

Unfortunately, the pool deck in this area is narrow, so it can be difficult to find a seat. You can tell in the photo below that most of the chairs under umbrellas are already in use. This photo was taken within 15-20 minutes of the pool opening!

Every afternoon, from around 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., recreation cast members provide entertainment. They play pool games like Disney trivia and guess that tune. You might be surprised at how much everyone enjoys it.

As the day shifts to dusk, cast members invite everyone to campfire activities like roasting complimentary marshmallows and watching Movies Under the Stars. Both resorts have a recreation calendar detailing the nightly movie and other specifics.

Past this portion of the pool, the area continues to Bubblin’ Bay and a lagoon with whirling waters.

You’ll find the slide’s exit at the end of this area.

The Lazy River

At the opposite end, we find the lazy river, the deepest pool area. It has several entrances. But you’ll want to remember that some of those entrances lead into 5′ to 8′ deep areas.

It’s not a large lazy river. You can see its entire circular shape in the photo below.

Hurricane Hanna’s , the poolside bar and quick service, sits directly behind the lazy river.

Hurricane Hanna's is at the back of the lazy river

A few clear inner tubes are available for guests to use. Naturally, the river does have a bit of a current that keeps you moving. However, on our last stay, less than ten were available. A good deal of guests were complaining about the lack of tubes.

In case you’re wondering, most of these photos were taken from a large deck on the Crescent Lake side of the pool.

Additional seating is available at the top. However, like everywhere else, it can fill up quickly.

A few coveted spots in the shade are available if you get there early enough. A pool table was also present.

Stormalong Bay Water Slide (The Flying Jib)

From the upper deck, you can see the Stormalong Bay slide. It’s one of the best waterslides at the Disney Resorts . Called The Flying Jib, the slide is in a shipwreck across a walkway from the pool.

shipwreck at Disney's Beach Club

The shipwreck sits on the shores of Crescent Lake, so guests have to cross the walkway to get to the slide. The tunnel portion of the slide extends across the walkway from the ship back to the pool area.

Once you cross the path, you’ll climb into the ship and up the spiral staircase to access the slide.

It’s a speedy slide that almost always has a long line!

As far as the shipwreck goes, this is the same area where the nightly Movies Under the Stars are held. Cast members inflate a projection screen in front of the chairs sitting on the beach.

And here is a photo of where guests roast marshmallows each evening.

Kiddie Pool (The Shipwreck Pool)

Most guests have no clue that an additional kiddie pool sits inside the shipwreck. If you never took the time to check out the area, you’d have no idea it existed.

It has a separate kiddie water slide!

No sand is involved at this pool. It’s a fun area.

The other kiddie pool is back on the Yacht Club side of Stormalong Bay. This large wading pool has a sand bottom and a massive mound of sand in its center.

Additionally, Stormalong Bay’s third hot tub resides in this area.

A word of warning: After spending time in this area, young children will probably always remember this trip to the Beach Club. They will always ask to return to that place with the sand pool.

They will not want to leave when it’s time to prepare for your dinner reservation. And if you take them to the pool early on during your vacation, they will continuously ask when you’re going to the pool–even when you’re in the parks. Can you blame them?

Toward the back of the sand bar pool, the area forms another lagoon that’s approximately 3.5′ deep.

Cabanas at Stormalong Bay

Four cabanas are available to rent at Stormalong Bay. These cabanas are available at 60 days out and sell out quickly. They come with the following amenities:

  • A dedicated cast member providing service to the cabanas.
  • Cocktail Service
  • Ceiling Fan
  • Padded furniture, including chairs and a couch

  • Charging Outlets/USB Ports
  • A mini refrigerator stocked with complimentary sodas and water.
  • Fruit Basket/Dessert Tray

Towels, Lockers, and Changing Areas at Stormalong Bay

Before we wrap things up, I wanted to share a few other details that might help you plan time at the pool. For instance, towels are provided at Stormalong Bay. So you shouldn’t need to pack them. Guests can get as many as they need throughout the day.

Additionally, a locker area is available for guests who might need to store a few items while in the pool.

Restrooms are available immediately behind the pool area.

When you enter this covered area to the restrooms, you’ll notice a sign that says showers on the far right-hand side. This area leads to showers and changing areas for men and women. Inside, you’ll find a couple of showers, towels, a bench, and a place to hang items.

Toiletries like body wash, shampoo, and conditioner are available in the shower stall. This area provides a wonderful place to change or freshen up if you have a late flight on your check-out day. You might also use this area to change into your swimsuit if your room isn’t ready on arrival.

Disney World pool rules and FAQs (including the facts about pool hopping)

Disney World pool rules and FAQs (including the facts about pool hopping)

Disney World has many beautifully themed resorts and when you stay at one of them you’ll have access to their amazing pools.

From the sand-bottomed, shipwreck-themed Stormalong Bay at Disney’s Beach and Yacht Club Resorts to the Finding Nemo themed, zero-entry Big Blue Pool at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, there is no shortage of great options to choose from when you’re ready to cool-off after a day in the parks.

But, what exactly are the pool rules and can you use a pool at a resort other than yours ( pool hop )?

In this article

Disney World pool rules

In most cases, you’ll find the pool rules to be the same as those you’d find at any public pool:

Supervision

Children under 12 must be supervised by an adult.

If your child is still in diapers, they must wear swim diapers or plastic pants.

Food and drink must be consumed on the pool deck; no food or drink allowed inside the pool, and no glass containers or bottles of any kind are allowed on the pool deck.

Dining area near a pool

All feature pools have a bar and snack stand (with typically a very small food selection) in nearby.

Moderate and Deluxe-level resorts have slides (the Values do not).

There are no height-restrictions on the slides; however, guests can only go down the slides 1 at a time, and you can’t wait at the bottom for somebody to come down.

Because the slides dump into water that can be deeper, you’ll want to make sure anybody choosing to use the slides are confident swimmers.

Pool slide at Port Orleans French Quarter

Can you pool hop at Disney World?

In most cases, you can not pool hop at Disney World.

Resort pools are a perk meant to be enjoyed by the guests staying at that particular resort. In order to ensure that resort guests can enjoy their pool without overcrowding, Disney only allows guests staying at that resort to use the pool.

All Star Sports pool Can you pool hop at Disney World?

There are, however, a few exceptions to this rule:

  • Guests staying at one of the All-Star Resorts (including All-Star Movies, All-Star Music, and All-Star Sports) can use the pools at any of the All-Star Resorts regardless of which resort they are guests.
  • This same situation is true for the Port Orleans Resorts. Guests at both Port Orleans – French Quarter and Port Orleans – Riverside are able to use the pools at both resorts without issue.
  • Disney Vacation Club (DVC) owners are sometimes allowed to pool hop, but only at other DVC resorts and only outside of scheduled blackout periods.
  • On-site guests that have reserved a Cabana at either the Contemporary or Grand Floridian (more on that below).

Stormalong bay

So, how would Disney even know if I was pool hopping?

You may think you can pull a fast one on Disney and sneak into a pool at a different resort.

But, that won’t work.

To access many of the pools (including the ever-popular Stormalong Bay) you’ll need to scan your MagicBand, phone (MagicMobile) or Key To The Room Card. If your resort doesn’t match when you scan, you won’t get in.

Just because you aren’t able to use the pool facilities at other resorts shouldn’t prevent you from visiting the resorts for other reasons, though.

Walt Disney World resorts are great for touring and taking some time away from the parks.

To see our suggestions for visiting the resorts, checkout our How to Tour Disney World Resorts (Even if You’re Not Staying There)   post.

Port Orleans Riverside pool

What is the best pool at Disney World?

Although Disney World has several great pools, Stormalong Bay at Disney’s Yacht and Beach Clubs is nearly everyone’s favorite. It is huge, and feels more like a mini water park than a resort pool.

Other great options are the Big Blue Pool at Art of Animation , the Dig Site at Coronado Springs , and the gorgeous Lava Pool at the Polynesian Village Resort (although it is also very small for the size of the resort!).

VIDEO: Why schedule a pool day?

Disney World pool FAQs

Are there life jackets available at the pools.

Yes! You’ll find life jackets available for free at all the pools at Disney World.

Disney World resort pool life jacket stand

Are the pools open year-round?

The pools at the Disney World resorts are open year-round, however, during inclement weather or when the temps are predicted to be unusually low they do close.

Are the pools at Disney World heated?

The pools at Disney World are heated. Disney has said that they heat the pools to 82 degrees.

Are there hot tubs at Disney resort hotels?

Just like with slides, Moderate , Deluxe , and Deluxe Villas all have hot tubs near their feature pools. Value resorts , however, do not.

Does Disney have any cabana rentals?

Yes! 4 resorts do now offer cabana rentals:

  • Contemporary
  • Grand Floridian

The amenities provided inside the cabanas differs slightly from resort to resort and since the number of rentals is limited, is recommended that you reserve those ahead of time (up to 180 days) by calling 407-WDW-Play.

Are there toddler pools (or splash pads) available?

All of the Disney World Resorts offer smaller toddler-sized pools and/or splash pads , or they may have pools that offer zero-entry areas (which are perfect for little ones that just want to splash around!).

Are there towels available?

Deluxe-level resorts do provide towels at their pools. Moderate and Value-level, however, may not (it can vary from resort to resort).

If you are staying at a resort without pool towels, you are allowed to bring your towels from your room with you to the pool.

Are the pools open 24 hours?

Some of them are.

Feature/main pools at Disney World have posted hours. During the summer/warmer months you can expect the pool to be open later into the night, however.

Pool hours

The “Quiet” pools, however, are open 24 hours. But keep in mind, these pools do not have lifeguards on duty.

Can I use toys like pool noodles while swimming?

Disney does allow floats and noodles purchased in their gift shops to be used in the pools.  Items brought from home (outside of smaller-sized toys) are generally not allowed.

Can you use the pool at your resort before your room is ready (or after you check out)?

Sometimes travel and flight schedules mean that you’ll find yourself needing to arrive to your resort before the “official” check-in time or with time to kill after the official check out time.

You can always leave your bags at Bell Services , if you’d like, but what if you’d like to use the pool (or other resort amenities)? Can you do that?

The good news is yes! If you arrive before your room is ready or if you need something to do while you wait for a flight, you are welcome to use the resort pool, as well as the other resort amenities.

And, if you intend to hit the pool before heading to the airport, don’t forget that you’ll probably need something to store your wet suits in, so make sure you plan for that, too!

Are there showers available?

Yes, there are locker rooms near the feature pools where you will find showers.

Are lockers available?

Yes. There are typically a small bank of lockers available near the feature pool.

Pool locker

What is the difference between a “feature pool” and a “quiet pool”?

Feature pools are the big, main pools. For Deluxe and Moderate-level pools, these will be the pools with the slides, for example.

The feature pool is also typically near the main building, often hosts activities, and frequently has music playing.

Quiet pools aren’t totally silent, but because there is no music or the games and activities you find at the feature pool, they tend to be more adult-focused and, consequently, more quiet.

The rules for Disney’s 2 water parks (Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon) are a little different. You can find the facts on those below.

Blizzard Beach Typhoon Lagoon

Saturday 5th of June 2021

I think they changed the rules. The wdw site says that cabanas at Grand Floridian and Contemporary can only be rented by those hotels guests and magic bands or. Key cards are checked.

Thursday 29th of April 2021

One limit not included on this list, Disney doesn't allow mermaid tails at any of their pools for "safety reasons". Not sure what that would be, the lifeguard gave us no explanation.

Wednesday 14th of July 2021

The reason is because it is safer if you have both legs to swim.

Friday 1st of November 2019

One thing that disappointed my son on our first trip (2016, Coronado Springs) is that he wasn’t allowed to wear his swim mask on the water slide there. He ended up just not using the slide. The swim mask was OK in the pool.

Sunday 30th of May 2021

Most water slides don't allow anything to go down but a rider in a bathing suit. Goggles, glasses, and other things held in hands can become a hazard quickly on the slide to both the rider and to other persons around, especially at the slide exit. If your child can't ride without goggles for any reason, they need to choose a different activity.

5 Things to Know About Stormalong Bay at Walt Disney World’s Yacht and Beach Club

  • SAND – This is more than a pool.It wouldn’t be the Yacht and Beach Club without sand.  Bring some shovels and other items to make sandcastles on the island of sand in the middle of the pool.   Water depth is very shallow in these areas so it’s great for kids (and the grown up kids too) to lie in the water and soak up some rays.

Hotel with the best pool complex at Disney World: Review of Disney's Yacht Club Resort

Summer Hull

Update: Some offers mentioned below are no longer available. View the current offers here .

When you think of a Florida theme park hotel, I'd bet you probably don't think of deep, rich colors, hardwoods and a refined turn-of-the-century, New England-style nautical-themed resort.

And when you think of a hotel pool, you likely don't conjure up images of a 3-acre waterpark complete with a life-size shipwreck replica that is home to a long, twisting, turning waterslide.

But all this, and actually a lot more, is precisely what you'll find at what has to be one of the best hotels at Disney World , Disney's Yacht Club Resort. In fact, when we picked this resort for a short Florida getaway, we actually considered not spending any days in the Disney theme parks to go along with it. We amended that plan for one day at Epcot, but it wouldn't be unreasonable to do an entire vacation here without getting on a single ride. In this case, the resort could be the destination.

Disney's Yacht Club (1990) opened in the same era of rapid Disney World development as Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort (1988), and both share a type of ocean theme. However, the two couldn't be more different from one another. With just over 600 rooms (compared to more than 1,500 at Caribbean Beach), this deluxe Disney resort offers guests a vacation within a vacation both in terms of comfort and amenities.

After a recent stay at the property, it was all I could do to not add another night when the time to check out unfortunately arrived. And while not everything is postcard-perfect at this Disney resort at the moment, I promised myself (and my kids) we'd be back. It's that special.

disney yacht club pool heated

Let's start with some bad news: Disney's Yacht Club is often expensive.

This is one of Disney's deluxe resorts and there is no Disney Vacation Club wing of this hotel. This means you can't rent DVC points to potentially book a room for less the way you can at places such as Polynesian Village Resort. (Note that you can do this at the neighboring Beach Club Resort.)

If you can snag a room during a sale or with a solid discount, you can probably get the rate down to $350-$400 per night, but it's unlikely to go much lower. It's common for rooms here to go for $500 and up, especially once standard rooms are sold out and you need to pay even more for a water view, which is precisely what I had to do. The view itself is (in my mind) not actually worth an upcharge, but sometimes that's all that's available.

disney yacht club pool heated

While I booked during a 30% off sale, my water-view room at the Yacht Club still came to just over $500 per night. There are some ways to use points for Disney World vacations , such as using miles from the Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card to offset the expense at a 1 cent = 1 mile valuation , but there's no way to get outsize value for your credit card points at Disney properties.

If you do decide to book a Disney resort like this one, it can make sense to go through a Disney Vacation Planner as that doesn't add to your cost and they do a great job staying on the lookout for sales and discounts and keeping track of all those ever-changing components of a trip to Disney World.

No doubt it sounds a touch insane to spend $500 for a theme park-adjacent hotel room, but the location is one reason why Disney's Yacht Club commands that rate (and often sells out).

This hotel is just a 5-10 minute walk from the World Showcase entrance of Epcot. It is also within walking distance of Disney's Hollywood Studios, or you can hop on a boat to take you there since that walk is a bit longer.

Being so close to Epcot also means that the Skyliner stop at Epcot is within very easy reach, opening up even more Disney locations such as the Riviera Resort , Caribbean Beach Resort and more.

Yacht Club is also an incredibly short stroll away from the BoardWalk, which is home to even more shops and restaurants.

disney yacht club pool heated

I'm happy to save money and stay off Disney property on the first night of the trip, or for trips when we aren't going for an all-in Disney family vacation. But when we do go all-in on Disney World, I want to be in the "Disney bubble." Staying at Yacht Club puts you in the heart of the Disney bubble, well-cushioned in your own deluxe nautical-themed space, but just an arm's reach from lots of great Disney dining and entertainment options.

We arrived at Disney's Yacht Club in the early afternoon, after starting the vacation off with a character brunch at Topolino's Terrace at the top of the nearby Disney Riviera Resort . (Which I highly recommend you add to your to-do list if you love characters and can snag a reservation.)

Since we arrived a few hours before official check-in time, I didn't have high hopes our room would be ready, given the era of pandemic precautions, but that became the first pleasant surprise of the trip when Room 2077 was ready and waiting for us several hours early.

disney yacht club pool heated

Check-in is also where we were informed that while room service has returned as an option for breakfast and dinner, regular housekeeping had not yet returned to Disney resorts . Towels and trash would be attended to every other day. For our two-night stay, that meant there would be no formal housekeeping services, though we could ask for more towels and such.

disney yacht club pool heated

If you are able to manage stairs, you can easily access the second level of the resort — where we stayed — via the lobby without using the elevators.

disney yacht club pool heated

In fact, heading up the lobby stairs reveals some fun touches, such as a ship's wheel, among other themed decor.

disney yacht club pool heated

Our room was a bit of a walk down several hallways, so if that's an issue, ask for a room closer to the lobby if available.

disney yacht club pool heated

Inside a room at Disney's Yacht Club, you aren't going to find bright colors, Disney characters or loud decor. If that's what you want, I recommend Disney's Art of Animation , which has plenty of color and characters.

Yacht Club was renovated in recent years to appeal not only to traditional Disney vacationers but also to conventiongoers who frequently stay at the resort during normal times. And in this case, everyone won with a redesign that maintained the overall theme but upgraded the offerings.

disney yacht club pool heated

The rooms still carry out the resort's high-end nautical theme, but in a way that is elegant and more refined than the previous 1990s-era version.

Like with other Disney resort upgrades, the beds are now raised and the floors are now hard instead of carpet. As Disney renovated rooms across its properties, this has been the standard it is changing to.

disney yacht club pool heated

There's a pullout sofa that can be used as a sleeper and a small writing desk.

disney yacht club pool heated

Most notably, there were outlets everywhere. We travel with a lot of things that need charging and we didn't come close to using them all up. Some furnishings may be made to look like turn-of-the-century New England, but they are loaded with modern-day power.

disney yacht club pool heated

The two queen beds were perfect for a good night's rest after a busy day at Disney.

In the room, you'll also find a minifridge and Keurig.

disney yacht club pool heated

We were impressed with the amount of storage the room had in the form of shelves, racks, cubbies and drawers. We were able to stay far more organized than normal with a family's worth of stuff, thanks to the storage options.

disney yacht club pool heated

There was a balcony with two chairs that overlooked a well-manicured green lawn and technically some water. Remember, this was a pricier water-view room after all.

disney yacht club pool heated

I adored the drapes, both because they did a great job keeping light out in the morning but also because they were adorable and perfect for the room, featuring constellations.

Like at many other similar Disney resorts, the bathroom had a vanity with two sinks located in a cubby between the main room and the bathroom, so it could be used while someone was in the shower.

disney yacht club pool heated

The bathroom area had a sliding door for both the room itself and the tub/shower combo. There were plenty of Disney H2O+ bath products in the shower and bathroom area.

disney yacht club pool heated

We found the room incredibly nice, but do know that it doesn't take much to hear what's going on in the hallway or other rooms around you. If you like total silence, you'll be well-served to pack some earplugs and a white noise app to go along with your Mickey ears.

Related: Why you need more than just a ticket to get into Disney World this summer

The Yacht Club room is plenty comfortable, but that's probably not why you stay at Disney's Yacht Club — it's certainly not why we paid what we did to stay here.

Stormalong Bay pool complex

What makes this resort so special is the 3-acre pool complex shared with the neighboring Disney Beach Club Resort.

disney yacht club pool heated

Dubbed Stormalong Bay, this pool complex has everything from a 230-foot waterslide to a lazy river, whirlpool, shallow splash area, toddler slide, hot tubs and more. It even has a sandy bottom in some of the areas, which feels so much nicer on your tired Disney feet than a hard surface.

disney yacht club pool heated

This pool area is almost a mini-waterpark and certainly worthy of planning some time in your schedule just to enjoy it. Right now, it can get busy to the point where there is no way to get in during peak times.

However, we had a blast also going late at night after the parks closed, when there were very few people in the pool at all. While the hours can vary, it was open from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. during our stay.

disney yacht club pool heated

There are four cabanas at the pool you can book if you want extra space and service, but you need to reserve well in advance if you want those because they go quickly.

disney yacht club pool heated

Getting into the pool requires verification you are a resort guest and you're then assigned the colored wristband of the day to wear. There's plenty of towels at the pool, as well as a small army of lifeguards keeping a close watch on the various areas of the pool.

Stormalong Bay is adjacent to Hurricane Hanna's Waterside Bar & Grill, so it's pretty easy to pop over there and order a snack or cocktail. The $12 seafood roll turned out to be a perfect snack for us.

disney yacht club pool heated

My 11-year-old gave the $6 Lava Smoothie (made of raspberry, coconut and pineapple flavors) high marks and my $14 Frosé was excellent.

Whether your group is made up of adults, some teens, tweens or toddlers, this pool area is truly excellent, especially if you build in some time to enjoy it when most people are sleeping, eating or in the Disney parks.

disney yacht club pool heated

Evening movies on the beach

Several nights per week at 8 p.m., a Disney movie is shown along the "beach" at the Yacht Club. This is free to enjoy and the week we were there the films showing were "Zootopia," "Sleeping Beauty," "A Bug's Life" and "Disneynature: Earth."

I'll never fully understand who needs a treadmill at Disney when it's normal to walk 10 miles a day in the park, but Yacht Club has those and more in its gym that overlooks Stormalong Bay.

disney yacht club pool heated

Magical Express Bus

Until the end of 2021, if you want to take the included Magical Express Bus transportation to and from the Orlando airport, that's available to those who stay at this and any other full-fledged Disney resort hotel. If you decide to self-park at Yacht Club, it's going to cost you $25 per night. The upside is that the fee also gives you access to parking at the Disney theme parks at no additional charge.

The Magical Express Bus stop is right in front of the hotel entrance, and the bus stop to go to the various Disney theme parks is just to the side of the hotel entrance.

Still-closed amenities

If you remember when I mentioned there are still some small bumps at Yacht Club, here's where they begin.

Those looking for the ultimate, once-in-a-lifetime Yacht Club experience may want to hold off a tiny bit longer if you want to experience all the amenities. The Club Lounge remains closed, as does one of the main sit-down restaurants.

On top of that, the onsite Ship Shape Salon is still closed, along with the Lafferty Place Arcade.

disney yacht club pool heated

Normally, you can rent boats or even sign your kids up for a pirate-themed adventure that leaves from the dock outside of the Yacht Club, but all of that is also still on pause.

We had plenty to do for a few days without any of those amenities, but just keep in mind that some things remain shuttered for now.

Ale & Compass Restaurant

Just off the lobby of Yacht Club is a dark, subdued restaurant called Ale & Compass. While you do need reservations to eat breakfast or dinner here, it's one of the easier reservations to get at Disney World.

Described as "Yankee comfort food," this menu has options such as lobster-and-corn chowder; a fantastic salad called the Ale & Compass salad with additions such as pumpkin seeds and beets; steak; pasta; and a burger with bacon and Vermont cheddar served with thick fries.

Getting good photos in the dark restaurant was next to impossible, but we enjoyed our salad and burger.

disney yacht club pool heated

And while we didn't eat breakfast here, I've heard good things about the dark chocolate waffles.

Our service here was quite friendly but incredibly slow. The wait for our reservation was pretty extensive, followed by another wait for a server to arrive at our table to start the meal-ordering process. This is likely at least in part due to the restaurant having a brisk business of to-go orders that you can make from the Disney app, along with the other sit-down restaurant at the hotel remaining closed.

Related: These are the best restaurants at Disney World

Ale & Compass Lounge

Another alternative to the restaurant is the adjacent Ale & Compass Lounge, which also has a sleek, updated, but pretty dark look once day turns to night.

disney yacht club pool heated

In the back of the lounge is a bar, with the front portion offering a variety of seating options and a reduced menu that still includes the burger and chowder.

disney yacht club pool heated

The Market at Ale & Compass

In the gift shop area of the hotel is the Market at Ale & Compass, where you can order grab-and-go options in the Disney app.

disney yacht club pool heated

We tried the $12 breakfast bowl that had a little bit of everything on it and was actually almost enough food for myself and two kids for a quick pre-park breakfast.

disney yacht club pool heated

The $7 ham and cheese breakfast sandwich on a pretzel roll also looked really solid.

In the afternoon and evening, you'll find a variety of sandwiches, a hot dog and a panini on the menu.

Beaches and Cream Soda Shop

If you're going to splurge cash on staying at the Yacht Club, I highly recommend also splurging some calories at Beaches and Cream. You're going to need to make a reservation here well in advance (dining reservations are accepted 60 days before your trip) or get very lucky.

disney yacht club pool heated

We planned our trip pretty close-in and were never able to snag advance reservations, but got lucky with timing that they had an outdoor table available for us to order the most exciting item on the menu ... the Kitchen Sink.

This $35 sink of ice cream is made of eight scoops (vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, cookies and cream and mint) along with every single topping in the house. Oh, and there's also an entire can of whipped cream on top.

disney yacht club pool heated

It's epic, huge, ridiculous and a lot of fun.

The three of us barely put a dent in it but certainly had fun trying.

There are more regular-sized ice cream options on the menu, too, but if you're doing a once-in-a-lifetime trip, try this once-in-a-lifetime dessert.

disney yacht club pool heated

Should you want more than just sugar for your meal, this is also where you'll find burgers, sandwiches, chili and other 1950s classic-style treats.

Yachtsman Steakhouse

This second sit-down restaurant has not yet reopened, but when it does, this is where you can go for those post-convention expensed sales dinners ... or a very nice meal out for two. The menu features a $135 seafood tower, prime porterhouse, lobster, filet mignon, elk, lobster and other similar entrees that start around $50.

Overall impressions

I'm a total and complete sucker for a well-themed, well-located Disney World resort. Resorts such as this one, along with Disney's Polynesian Village Resort, Disney's Wilderness Lodge, Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge and others, have me hook, line and wallet.

disney yacht club pool heated

For me, the resort hotel isn't just a place to sleep at night, it's also a destination much like the theme parks themselves. I enjoy the scent in the lobby, the storyline of the property, the Disney touches throughout and the convenience of being fully immersed in Disney magic.

While my kids vetoed the idea, I'd have been totally happy having Disney's Yacht Club Resort serve as our actual final destination for the weekend with no park time at all. However, since it is such an easy walk to Epcot, adding that park on was actually a whole lot of fun, too.

If what you want is just a decent bed close to the parks, don't stay here. You're probably overpaying to stay at Yacht Club if you don't truly value the Stormalong Bay pool area. You can stay at the next-door Disney Swan and Dolphin for a fraction of the cash if you're just after location.

And right now, with some amenities still closed, I don't recommend staying here if you are going to be upset when things aren't 100% full service and perfect. The prices are as high as ever to match demand, so don't expect a reduced price to match the reduced amenities.

But if you can overlook a few things and what you want is a fun, slightly grown-up hotel theme, a great location, access to the best resort pool at Disney World and easy access to multiple restaurants, Disney's Yacht Club Resort is now officially one of my favorite Disney hotels — and one that I can't wait to return to in the coming years.

13 of the Best Pools at Disney World Resorts

posted by James Brockbank on August 31, 2021 // last updated on September 17, 2022

When planning your trip to Disney World in Florida , you’ve probably spent a lot of time focused on the parks and all of the rides and attractions. However, the Disney resorts are a vacation unto themselves.

Each themed Disney resort hotel features one or more unique pools that are fun for kids and adults of all ages. No matter what time of year you plan on visiting, you should always consider the pool when choosing a resort. All Disney property pools are heated to 82 degrees year-round, so you can always go for a swim.

Below are 13 of the best pools at Disney World Resorts. Read on to see which one is perfect for your trip.

The Courtyard Pool at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa

The uzima springs pool at disney’s animal kingdom lodge, ol’ man island at disney’s port orleans resort – riverside, doubloon lagoon at disney’s port orleans resort – french quarter, big blue pool at disney’s art of animation resort, the lava pool at disney’s polynesian village resort, copper creek springs at disney’s wilderness lodge, the riviera pool at disney’s riviera resort, the cozy cone pool at disney’s art of animation resort, the lost city of cibola pool at disney’s coronado springs resort, stormalong bay at disney’s beach and yacht club resorts, samawati springs pool at disney’s animal kingdom lodge, fuentes del morro pool at disney’s caribbean beach resort.

Disney’s Grand Floridian draws inspiration from the East Coast Victorian beachside villas, recalling a time of elegance and grandeur. The Grand Floridian is the most luxurious of the Disney resorts, so it’s only natural that it would be home to one of the resort’s most luxurious pools, making it some of the best pools in Disney World.

The Courtyard Pool isn’t the largest pool at the Grand Floridian (that title goes to the Beach Pool), but it’s undoubtedly the pool to visit if you’re looking for quiet and relaxation. It’s a zero-entry pool and reaches depths of five feet. It’s heated and also features a whirlpool spa, making it one of the best pools at Disney World to visit year-round.

Since the Beach Pool is the larger of the two pools at the Grand Floridian and has a water slide, the Courtyard Pool is guaranteed to be less crowded and a little quieter. It’s an excellent spot for people without kids who want to get away from the hustle and bustle or for families with small children who aren’t ready for the slide and bigger kids running around.

The pool has some comfy lounge chairs and umbrellas where you can relax. While this pool is busy, it’s often the quieter of the two and your best bet for relaxation by the water.

Disney's Beach Club Resort

Walt Disney World Resorts Beach Club Resort | Rooms | Dining | Recreation | Transportation | Resort Map

The popularity of Stormalong Bay with non-resort guests prompted Disney to surround the complex with a fence that is guarded by Disney cast members checking resort IDs. Only Disney's Yacht and Beach Club Resort guests and Disney Vacation Club members can use Stormalong Bay.

A small beach shack on the east side of the pool deck rents tubes and pool noodles and distributes complimentary pool towels. An alternate location to find towels is at the 2-story gazebo next to the windmill on the side facing the pool. The quiet pool at the far end of the resort near the Dolphin Hotel is open 24 hours a day and pool towels are available here too. While there is no lifeguard, swimming aids are allowed. There is a sandy beach on Crescent Lake, but swimming is not permitted.

If swimming isn’t the only water sport on your agenda, you can rent water mice, sailboats, pontoon boats, canopy boats, hydra-bikes or pedal boats or book a 2-hour fishing excursion along Lake Hollywood or Crescent Lake. This guided tour includes all of your fishing gear, bait, and complimentary snacks and beverages. At least 24-hour advance notice is required to book. Take a private cruise on the 24-foot “Breathless”, day or night. A nighttime cruise has the advantage of a viewing of the Illuminations 2000: Reflection of Earth fireworks show at Epcot®.

The Ship Shape Health Club offers a more physical workout alternative. From 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. guests may use the latest in fitness equipment such as Lifecircuit, Nautilus, Lifestep, Lifecycle, Liferower, Gravitron, Nordic Track, Stair Master, treadmill, free weights, Eucalyptus steam room, sauna, whirlpool or massage (by appointment only). The cost is $12 per person per day, $20 for a guest length of stay, and $40 for a family length of stay. This membership includes access to the “Walk and Flex” program offered Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 6:45 a.m. to 7:45 a.m. at the Health Club. For more information call 407-934-3256. This service is complimentary to Disney Vacation Club members. Personal trainers are also available by appointment.

Picturesque Crescent Lake and the area resorts provide the backdrop for those who prefer a jog around the 2.5-mile boardwalk promenade. For a map of an alternate jogging trail, inquire at the Front Desk or Guest Services.

If tennis is your game, there are two lighted tennis courts offered along with complimentary equipment for those guests in need. This is open from 7 a.m. until 10 p.m. If after all of this you still have time on your hands, play beach volleyball, lawn bowling, croquet (open from 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., pick up the equipment at the Ship Shape Club) or enjoy the video games in the Lafferty Place Arcade. Located next to Beaches and Cream, this arcade also has a section geared toward younger children. There is also a playground for children located near Stormalong Bay.

Celebrating a birthday at Disney's Yacht Club Resort? Schedule your birthday party by touching 7-3750 on your in-room phone between 12 p.m. and 8 p.m. A birthday cake, balloons, and entertainment at the Sandcastle Club are included.

For those who prefer a more leisurely pace, there are landscaping tours Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. led by members of Disney's Yacht and Beach Club Resorts horticultural team. Or on Tuesday evenings, go to the Atlantic Wear & Wardrobe Emporium and listen to storytellers from 7:00-8:00 p.m.

10 of the best hotel pools in the US

MSN has partnered with The Points Guy for our coverage of credit card products. MSN and The Points Guy may receive a commission from card issuers.

Is there anything better in life than spending a lazy day lounging in the sun by a pool? Probably not, unless your idea of the perfect pool day is floating in a larger-than-life lazy river or chasing your kiddos around a pool with a kid-friendly splash pad or wave pool.

Whatever your version of an ideal pool day is, it all starts with the swimming pool. Thankfully, here in the U.S., we have more incredible hotel pools than we could ever possibly write about.

That said, we have gathered a handful of our favorites from sea to shining sea. These include pools with knockout views you have to see to believe, ones with incredible cabanas and others that are just so fun and functional that you’ll never want to leave.

From the Las Vegas Strip to the theme parks of Orlando and everywhere in between, here are some of the best hotel pools in the U.S. to consider for your next trip.

Disney’s Yacht Club Resort and Beach Club Resort

In Orlando , there’s no shortage of activities — and there’s certainly no shortage of pools.

One of the best in Orlando (and the country) can be found on the grounds of Disney World, shared between two Disney resorts: Disney’s Yacht Club and Beach Club. Called Stormalong Bay, this 3-acre pool complex is basically a water park complete with a trio of leisure pools (including a sand-bottom pool), a 230-foot-long waterslide, a lazy river and an elevated tanning area.

How to book: At two of the more expensive properties at Walt Disney World, rates easily reach over $500 a night. However, with the help of a free Disney vacation planner , you might be able to find a better deal.

Four Seasons Hotel Philadelphia at Comcast Center

When we think about incredible pools, our minds don’t usually go straight to  indoor pools — unless you’re familiar with the luxe Four Seasons Philadelphia. On the 57th floor of the downtown Philly hotel, the 30,000-gallon infinity-edge pool is reserved exclusively for hotel guests and boasts some of the most incredible views of the city, all seen from the comfort of heated water.

It’s open all year long, so hotel guests can take in those stunning views or sit back with a healthy bento box meal delivered to their lounge chair even while it’s snowing outside.

How to book:  Though we’re hoping it’ll happen someday, Four Seasons still doesn’t have a loyalty program. Cash rates at the Four Seasons Philadelphia can be found from $1,000 a night during peak summer months. There is some good news, however: Four Seasons is a member of American Express Fine Hotels + Resorts , a program for holders of The Platinum Card® from American Express (and other Centurion- and Platinum-branded cards), that offers complimentary breakfast, guaranteed 4 p.m. late checkout, upgrades and a $100 spa credit.

JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort & Spa

Everything’s bigger in Texas — and that’s exactly the case at the JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort & Spa.

There, guests will find more water action than at most resorts, including a 9-acre water park with multiple waterslides, a 1,100-foot lazy river, a kids pool with a zero-depth beach entry, an activity pool and even an adults-only pool. So, whatever your preferred vacation style, everyone who visits this Marriott Bonvoy-associated resort can find the perfect pool to beat the intense heat of Texas Hill Country.

Related: The best Marriott hotels in the world

How to book:  Cash rates at this JW Marriott start as low as $290 a night, though you’ll likely find more availability closer to $400 and above, with rates soaring to over $1,000 during peak travel periods. Marriott Bonvoy award nights start at 43,000 points a night, and if you act fast, there is still reward night availability for July and August.

Right now, with the Marriott Bonvoy Boundless Credit Card, you could earn 75,000 Marriott Bonvoy bonus points after using your card to spend $3,000 on eligible purchases in the first six months; plus, earn 50,000 bonus points after you stay six eligible paid nights at Marriott hotels through Jan. 31, 2024.

Resorts World Las Vegas

In Sin City, choosing a hotel based on its pool is an overwhelming experience because there are just so many great options.

Those trying to trade in some points for a stay at a property with one of those pools should look no further than Hilton’s Resorts World . It’s home to three different hotels in one massive complex: the Las Vegas Hilton, the Conrad Las Vegas and the luxury-focused Crockfords Las Vegas.

Related: The best hotel pools in Las Vegas

At the property’s 5 1/2-acre pool complex, located outside on the fifth floor, guests will find a handful of different pools to experience. That includes the large Main Pool, where guests can reserve daybeds with a dedicated server, side table, concierge, towel service and shade.

There’s also a Family Pool with rentable cabanas; the Bimini Pool with oversized games and activities; the Cabana Pool, where guests can rent cabanas with amenities like a television, refrigerator, coffee table and misting fan; and a VIP pool.

How to book:  Because there are three different Hilton Honors -associated hotels here, rates vary depending on where you want to stay. Rates at the Las Vegas Hilton start at $78 or 45,000-70,000 points per night. Rates at the Conrad can start at $95 or 39,000-80,000 points per night. Rates at Crockfords start at $259 or 88,000-95,000 points per night.

The West Hollywood Edition

If you want to take in sweeping views of Hollywood Hills and the Los Angeles skyline, there’s no better place to do it than from the pool at the celebrity-friendly West Hollywood Edition.

High in the hills, the pool offers wooden lounge chairs and lush greenery throughout to complement the stunning California sunsets and sunrises that are a must to take in while visiting this Marriott Bonvoy property. For food and drink, The Roof offers pool guests a wide arrange of drinks, including “tropical-inspired cocktails with Southern California flair” and an extensive list of tequilas and mezcals.

How to book: Cash rates for the West Hollywood Edition, including access to its rooftop pool, start at $568 a night. For folks with Marriott Bonvoy points to blow, nightly redemptions start at 68,500 points.

Fairmont Kea Lani

It’s tough to imagine sitting by a pool in Hawaii when you’re surrounded by the beauty of the ocean. However, at the Fairmont Kea Lani in Maui, it’s really not that hard because there are plenty of incredible pools.

At this all-suite Fairmont, there are two lagoon pools joined by a 140-foot waterslide, two whirlpools and a kids pool with a basketball hoop. There’s also an adults-only pool tucked away from the others.

Guests can rent cabanas around the three different main pools with access to chilled water, juices and sodas with the reservation, plus complimentary snacks. All guests can enjoy lunch and cocktails from Ko Restaurant and Ama Bar & Grill, as well as grab water toys and free sunscreen at the Pool Pavilion.

How to book: Rates at the Fairmont Kea Lani, the only Accor Live Limitless property on Maui, start at $1,009 a night. Read a review of the property, as well as reviews of TPG’s other favorite Maui properties .

Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa

When it comes to swimming pools, Disney knows what it’s doing — that’s why it’s got two entries on this list. This time, we’re looking at Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa, one of the most popular hotels in all of Hawaii, especially for folks traveling with family.

Called the Waikolohe Valley pool area, this resort has something for everyone: pools with ocean views, a kids pool and the main Waikolohe pool, and an 8,200-square-foot zero-entry pool with a waterslide in a volcano. Hotel guests can rent cabanas, dine poolside and forget the outside world while splashing and relaxing under the big Hawaii sky.

How to book:  Cash rates at this top-tier Disney property don’t come cheap and are usually upward of $569 a night.

Related: Where Disney and Hawaii intersect: Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa

The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas

Another contender from Las Vegas, the pools at The Cosmopolitan — a Marriott Bonvoy Autograph Collection property — are where people go to bake in the sun and the flashing lights of Las Vegas Boulevard.

Of the two pools, the Boulevard Pool reigns supreme with its fourth-floor location overlooking the Strip. Folks who head up to this pool deck can book cabanas with a server and complimentary fruit plate, or just opt for a daybed. The pool frequently features live entertainment and “dive-in” movies. However, you can always hit up the bar for a refreshing drink to cool down from the desert heat.

How to book: You can find cash rates at The Cosmopolitan for as low as $240 a night if you look hard and your dates are flexible. Vegas is famous for its fluctuating rates, though, so don’t be shocked if stays here cost upward of $500 a night on various weekends. The Cosmopolitan is also a Marriott Bonvoy resort with award availability starting at 75,000 points per night.

1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge

There’s no skyline like the New York City skyline — and there’s really no better place to take it in than the rooftop pool at 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge.

Located in Brooklyn Heights near the trendy DUMBO neighborhood, this hotel is prime Brooklyn real estate. However, the real star of the show is the pool. It’s reserved for hotel guests, but reservations are required and limited to two-hour slots. Food and drinks are served from Harriet’s Rooftop, which stays open even after the pool closes at 7 p.m.

How to book:  Rates at 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge vary throughout the year. In the busy summer months, rooms start around $400 a night during weekdays but can climb to over $600 on weekends.

The Westin Kierland Resort & Spa

Another resort with a pool area that doubles as a water park, the Westin Kierland in Scottsdale, Arizona, is the perfect place to take the kids (or kids at heart) to enjoy a day basking in the sun, splashing in the water and racking up some Marriott Bonvoy points along the way.

At Adventure Water Park, guests can ride a 110-foot waterslide, float along a lazy river or try a surfing simulator that feels more California than Arizona desert. You can rent a cabana to get a little shade or reserve a Tommy Bahama Relaxation Reef that’s basically a private island right in the middle of it all. If that’s just too much, the adults-only pool is the ideal spot for folks to relax without a child in sight.

How to book: In the very hot summer months, you can find rooms as low as $229. As the Phoenix area cools down in the fall, rates go up significantly, easily upward of $500 a night. Award nights can be found as low as 41,000 points per night and as high as 60,000 points per night.

SPONSORED:  With states reopening, enjoying a meal from a restaurant no longer just means curbside pickup.

And when you do spend on dining, you should use a credit card that will maximize your rewards and potentially even score special discounts. Thanks to temporary card bonuses and changes due to coronavirus, you may even be able to score a meal at your favorite restaurant for free.

These are the best credit cards for dining out, taking out, and ordering in to maximize every meal purchase.
