The refit work took two years but was clearly worth it when we look at the result displayed in this second season of the Australian Spin off.

Although the Northern Sun is built by the Japanese Narasaki shipyard, it surely is a boat that fits Australian waters quite well and could delight anyone looking to explore the most rugged locations in style, whether they are polar or tropical.

Northern Sun is available for charter from $161,700 / week . Her latest asking price was $15,000,000 .

Below Deck Mediterranean Season 8 in Italy onboard motor yacht MUSTIQUE

By Paloma Shemirani   10 October 2023

Premiered on 25 September, Bravo’s hit series delivers yet another season of drama and even some chaotic franchise firsts onboard the 180-feet motor yacht MUSTIQUE  by Trinity Yachts. With Captain Sandy and her crew, she cruises the Italian Riviera amidst the meltdowns, hookups, and partying.

This season is based out of Genoa where MUSTIQUE sailed back in mid-August until mid-September of last year. Anchoring in Santa Margherita, Sestri Levante, and La Spezia near Portofino , charter guests enjoyed the stunning views of the Ligurian province’s colorful fishing towns and cliffsides.

Running shot of MUSTIQUE

Equally beautiful were the facilities aboard this season’s luxury charter yacht , which was designed by Dee Robinson. While it was refitted in 2018, MUSTIQUE still retains much of her elegant interiors from the original construction in 2005. Viewers of Below Deck Mediterranean will be able to admire the yacht’s classical mahogany paneling set against cream carpets and upholstery, as well as the bathrooms’ marbled surfaces.

Finely balancing the classic with the contemporary, MUSTIQUE is a luxury yacht capable of delivering the best of everything.

The megayacht has 6 cabins that can hold 12 guests in 9 beds with a crew of 12. Its special features include a baby grand piano and a deck jacuzzi, which guarantees to keep charter guests as entertained as those who Captain Sandy and her crew served. With its full-displacement steel hull, MUSTIQUE offers guests a much more stable onboard experience at anchor. It also has an advanced stabilization system which reduces the side-to-side roll of the yacht, promising guests comfort even while cruising at a speed of 12 knots.

When Below Deck’s featured guests weren’t cruising, they could enjoy the truly extensive selection of water toys onboard MUSTIQUE: after soaking up the sun on her chic sundeck, the luxury yacht invites guests to soar over the water on Zapata Flyboards or Yamaha FX WaveRunner; MUSTIQUE also has waterskis, a seabob, paddleboards, and much more.

This year's season of  Below Deck Mediterranean  was based out of Genoa , an historical maritime city which is a popular stop-off on Mediterranean charters owing to its ornate palazzos and stunning medieval buildings. Charter guests were then taken down along the coast to small seaside towns like  Sestri Levante and Santa Margherita , which is home to a pretty palm-laden promenade that visitors can stroll along with an Italian coffee in hand from one of the local cafes. While this year's guests did not visit Portofino, this is the most popular destination in the Ligurian Province  and a must-see for Italian charters. For more ideas on where to visit while chartering in the Mediterranean , take a look at our sample Italian itineraries.

Sample itineraries for your next Italy yacht charter

If you are interested in recreating the Below Deck experience, then charters for the superyacht MUSTIQUE  start at approximately $244 000 per week plus expenses. Be sure to speak with your preferred charter broker to book this vessel to see the Italian Riviera yourself as part of your Italian yacht charter .

Below Deck Mediterranean season 8 is available to stream on Hayu and Amazon Prime Video.

Below Deck Mediterranean season 8 plot

Here's what you need to know about Below Deck Mediterranean season 8 with the official synopsis from Bravo:

"Set amidst the mesmerizing Italian Riviera and the historic façade of Genoa, Italy, it's all hands on deck this season for Capt. Sandy and her team. From outrageous guests to after-hours antics, the boat gets rocked throughout each charter as the crew navigates complicated dynamics and unexpected rifts. In a franchise first, unprecedented staffing changes dominate the season, which tests each department as they struggle to find their sea legs through unforeseen turnover.

"Sandy levels up this season with the 180-foot M/Y Mustique, which challenges her deck crew as they attempt to navigate the busy industrial port with utmost precision. Before they even leave the dock, visa issues tie up two crew members while a department head mismanages important paperwork. Sandy leans on temporary help for the first charter and an unexpected shake-up results in a change of hierarchy. On deck, the crew is overwhelmed by their workload on the oversized vessel as the interior deals with a clash of personalities. Chef Jack wows the guests with his impressive take on local Italian fare, but things start to sour when communication goes south.

"Between 'friends with benefits' and open relationships, there’s no shortage of boat-mances and boat break-ups. When disagreements impact productivity and former friendships start to implode, Sandy is faced with a wave of difficult decisions."

Below Deck Med Season 8 trailer, premiere date, injured Captain Sandy, familiar faces, crew drama and more

Captain Sandy Yawn on Below Deck Med Season 8

The wait for the Below Deck Med Season 8 premiere date and trailer is finally over!

Bravo dropped the first look teaser today.

Captain Sandy Yawn is back for her seventh season with the hit yachting show at the bridge of the M/Y Mustique luxury yacht.

Below Deck Med Season 8 takes place on the Italian Riviera, kicking off in Genoa, Italy.

It will be one wild ride for Captain Sandy and crew as the trailer reveals an oversized dose of drama on the show.

When does Below Deck Med Season 8 premiere, and who is the crew?

Monday, September 25, kicks off Below Deck Med Season 8 with a supersized episode at 9/8c.

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Captain Sandy (@captainsandrayawn)

That’s a time slot change from Below Deck Down Under, which airs back-to-back episodes on Monday nights at 8/7c. It’s unclear if Below Deck Med will take on the double episode block after the premiere.

New episodes will drop on Peacock every Tuesday, unlike the last two seasons, where episodes premiered on Peacock a week ahead of Bravo.

There are a few familiar faces among Captain Sandy’s crew.

Below Deck Down Under Season 1 alum Tumi Mhlongo takes on the chief stew role. Tumi has Below Deck Med Season 7 alums Natalya Scudder and Kyle Viljoen on her interior team.

In the lead deckhand role is Luka Brunton , who just made his Below Deck Down Under Season 2 debut this week.

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Luka Keoni 🦋 (@lukabrunton)

The rest of the crew are new to the yachting franchise. Chef Jack Luby and bosun Ruan Irving are the other department heads. Deckhands Haleigh Gorman and Lara Du Preez round out the exterior crew, while Jessika Asai is Tumi’s fourth stew.

What can Below Deck Med fans expect from Season 8?

The trailer makes it easy to see that the season is filled with so many crew changes. Captain Sandy threatens to fire someone and reveals one crew member has working visa issues.

Crew rifts are at an all-time high, too, especially between Tumi and Natalya. It seems the Season 7 tension between Natalya and Kyle hasn’t eased either because they have some explosive blowouts.

The video footage reveals a boatmance or a friends-with-benefits situation between Luka and Jessika. They aren’t the only ones either because the preview teases open relationships, breakups, and so much fighting.

A Below Deck Med first sees Captain Sandy leaving the yacht due to an injury. However, that doesn’t stop her from dealing with many difficult decisions regarding this crazy crew when a lack of productivity emerges due to personal relationships.

Even one group of charter guests feels Captain Sandy’s wrath. Captain Sandy threatens to end the charter when one of the guests gets out of control.

Who’s ready for a jaw-dropping crazy like never before on the Below Deck spin-off?

Below Deck Med Season 8 premieres on Monday, September 25 at 9/8c on Bravo.

  • Oops! Something went wrong. Please try again later. More content below

After some drama on the high seas, Below Deck Mediterranean Season 8 officially came to an end with Season 8, Episode 16 (which aired on January 22).

But before the yachties said goodbye to the charter season — and to Genoa, Italy — they reflected on their highs and lows of the season.

Find out what cast members Captain Sandy Yawn , Tumi Mhlongo , Jack Luby , Luka Brunton , Kyle Viljoen , Lara Du Preez , Jessika Asai , Max Salvador , Haleigh Gorman , and Lily Davison revealed by scrolling below. Plus, learn which familiar face returned for the final crew night out.

Captain sandy yawn.

When she attended the final crew dinner of the season, Sandy shared that she was looking forward to seeing her "love," Leah Shafer .

She also spoke about her love for her job.

"I love being a captain. It's something I live for, it's in my blood," she said in an interview on the finale. "I will be a captain until the day they put me in the ground or set me on fire."

Tumi Mhlongo

During the final tip meeting, Captain Sandy applauded "rock star" Tumi for having such a strong work ethic, for "maintaining [her] composure," and for bringing the smiles amid an exhausting final charter.

In the closing moments of the finale, Sandy said that Tumi was an "excellent" chief stew.

"I need a vacation ASAP," Tumi joked before she left the boat.

Luka brunton.

Below Deck Med  Season 8 marked Luka's first time as the bosun, and Sandy had nothing but praise for the  Below Deck Down Under  alum.

"Luka, I'm telling you right now, you belong on the bridge, not the engine room," she said during the tip meeting. She later told him that he was "a leader."

Before he exited, Luka made plans to see Natalya once he got off of the boat.

Natalya Scudder

Though she decided to leave the boat before the charter season ended, Natalya happened to be in Genoa when the rest of the Mustique crew wrapped up.

She joined the crew for their final night out, and she made amends with Kyle before departing.

Jessika asai.

Jessika initially planned to head to Cannes, France with Luka after the season, but she changed her mind.

"With Luka, I learned a big lesson," she said while reflecting on their boatmance. "I just need a lot of time to get over this entire thing."

Kyle Viljoen

The second stew shared a tearful moment with Sandy in the wheelhouse before departing.

"From the bottom of my heart, I can't thank you enough for giving me an extra chance, an opportunity," he told her. "And, not only are you a captain for me, but you are a really good friend. And I respect you [for] who you are, and you are amazing at what you do."

"I know, I feel the same," Sandy responded. "You are a good person."

In his final interview, Kyle said that he felt like he would be "able to navigate" taking on a chief stew position in the future.

Lara du preez.

The lead deckhand shared several sweet hugs with her fellow crewmates, including her mentor, Luka. As she left the dock, she had one final reflection.

"Why did I pack so much?" she wondered as she rolled two of her suitcases down the dock.

Haleigh Gorman

After an emotional goodbye with close pal and bunkmate, Lara, Haleigh left  Mustique  for the season.

Max Salvador

The deckhand, whose work ethic was questioned throughout the season, had a humorous reaction to being done with the charter season.

"Finally!" he shouted in a confessional. "Freedom, liberty..."

Why Max Salvador Is Already Having a "Hard" Time on Below Deck Mediterranean (VIDEO)

Sandy told the chef that it was a "rarity" for her to see such an enthusiastic chef in the galley.

Lily Davison

Lily was the last crewmate to join the boat, and she certainly left an impression on the rest of her colleagues when she left.

After injuring her ankle on the beach during the final crew night out, Lily left Mustique a bit early to get her leg evaluated by the medic.

In her final interview of the season, Lily reflected on everything that went down and shared her goals for the future.

"I think I have to live my life with no regrets. You've been there, you've done it, everything you need to do, you learn from it," she said. "I could be a chief stew."

Yacht Bosun Iain Maclean Joins 'Below Deck Mediterranean' as Dating Life Speculation Brews

Who else is looking for a hunky boat hand to fall in love with? Well, here's Iain Maclean's relationship status, just so you know.

Alex West - Author

May 30 2024, Published 4:57 p.m. ET

There's a new leader on board the Mustique. Iain Maclean is taking over as Bosun on the ship for Season 9 of Below Deck Mediterranean and the shakeup could cause major rifts on the seas.

According to Bravo , the budding reality television star is from Cape Town, South Africa, and boasts five years in the yachting industry. In his personal time he likes "going to the gym, hiking, kloofing, surfing, jolling, music festivals, hanging out with friends and family, and going to the beach." Nowhere in there does it mention a partner, though, so it lends the question... is Iain single?

Who is Iain Maclean dating?

Sadly, there's not much to go off of in regards to Iain's dating life. While being on Bravo is sure to make him a person of interest for fans, it looks like he's pretty private on social media.

Without being able to snoop through a social media page, it's hard to say if he's dating anyone at all. For now, until fans can get a peek on board, Iain's relationship status is simply unconfirmed.

If he is single, that could definitely add a little bit of spice to the plot. After all, drama is known to arise aboard when the crew members start to catch feelings.

What is Iain Maclean's job on 'Below Deck Mediterranean'?

The yacht is full of plenty of jobs to get done and too many slip ups can be costly. If you really want to follow along on the show, you'll want to know what each crew member is supposed to be doing.

Iain is the team's Bosun which is a pretty senior level and pretty much puts him in charge of day-to-day operations. There's not many people higher than the Bosun, except the captain, of course.

According to Marine Insight , "the main duties of bosuns revolve in the deck area of the ship. The Bosun is a member of the deck department and his duty, among others, is to supervise the deck crew of the vessel."

"The bosun is also involved, under the purview of the Chief Officer (and eventually the Master), in the planning, scheduling and assigning of work to the deck crew on the ship," the site added.

This shift in leadership could prove to have a change on the overall working conditions and mix up some of that ongoing drama. We'll see how long Iain lasts considering the team's last Bosun, Ruan Irving, was fired when Captain Sandy realized quickly that something was wrong with his documents.

So far, though, it looks like Iain is more than qualified for his job with five years of yachting experience already under his belt. It's hard to say what his top concern will be coming in, but we do know what he things of Mustique. He told Bravo that he boast is "in need of some good maintenance, but a good-sized strong ship with solid bones."

Iain enjoys his job, so hopefully he'll be along for the long haul. "Honestly, I find that the job as a whole surprises most people that aren't in the industry," he added.

What Happened To Max Salvador After Below Deck Mediterranean Season 8?

  • Max Salvador left the yachting industry to pursue a career in hypnotherapy.
  • He is now a hypnotherapist aiming to help others struggling with mental health.
  • Max has moved on from Below Deck Mediterranean and is in a new relationship.

Max Salvador starred as a deckhand in Below Deck Mediterranean season 8, and it's time to give an update on what he's been up to after his appearance on the show. The yachtie made his debut in Genoa, Italy, completing the Mustique crew. The French deckhand joined fellow team members Lara Du Preez, Haleigh Gorman, and Bosun Luka Brunton, quickly realizing that this yachting experience was vastly different from his previous ones due to the language barrier.

Despite four years of yachting experience, Max found the transition to using English challenging. His crewmates, particularly Haleigh, encouraged his progress and made him feel appreciated and included in the charter. Before appearing in Below Deck Med , he worked as a captain and officer from 2018 to 2022; he also worked as a community manager and co-director at B.seen.agency, a digital communications agency specializing in real estate marketing. While he may not return to Below Deck Med season 9 , there's still interest in the season 8 deckhand.

20 Best Reality TV Shows Right Now

Reality TV is more popular than ever. With so many to choose from, here are some of the best reality TV shows to stream or watch right now.

Max No Longer Works In Yachting

He is a hypnotherapist.

Max shocked Luka by his want to leave Below Deck Med season 8 , but he explained his choices on his Instagram. The former deckhand transitioned from working in yachting to hypnotherapy after appearing on the hit Bravo show. While this seems like a wild career shift, Max explained his reasoning in a reel. After the season ended, Max alleged in the video that he went to Bali, where he spent months depressed. However, hypnotherapy is popular in France, and Max used the resource to lift himself out of depression.

Hypnotherapy is a therapeutic technique that uses hypnosis to become focused and increase one's suggestibility as a form of psychological treatment.

Max was so inspired by the treatment he decided to become a hypnotherapist so he could help others who were struggling with mental health. He shared with his followers why he wanted to trade in $6,000 monthly on the yacht to help others with hypnotherapy. While he enjoyed the money, Max didn't like providing 24/7 service for wealthy guests and sought his freedom. Hopefully, Max is finding the inner peace and independence he desires through his hypnotherapy business.

Max Has Been Dating Someone Since 2023

He is happy with a new girlfriend.

According to his Instagram, Max has been dating someone since 2023. In a reel from November 2023, Max showcased his adventures with a beautiful mystery brunette . While her identity hasn't been revealed, Max is clearly happy with his new romance. " Ma chérie, you don’t need me, I don’t need you, " he captioned, continuing, " But we love each other and that’s what makes our couple wonderful ," followed by the Statue of Liberty, dove, and fiery heart emojis. " We back, " he concluded.

" But we love each other and thats what makes our couple wonderful. "

Fans were happy for Max in the comments, saying, " I’m so happy for you both! " and, " Love this ." Max didn't get much genuine romance on the show, aside from serving as a pawn for Jessika Asai in her pursuit of Luka . Natalya Scudder rekindled her flirtation with Luka, which Jessika witnessed. In a play to make Luka jealous, she kissed Max. Luckily, Max's entanglement with Luka's relationship drama didn't go further than Jessika's kiss.

Max's Journey On Below Deck Mediterranean

Season 8 was rocky for max.

Initially, Max's integration into the team was rocky. His heavy French accent made communication difficult, and his slower work pace clashed with the more fast-paced American style of yachting. His struggle to meet the work standards caused issues with his fellow yachties, particularly Lara, who called Max lazy . His work ethic especially came into question when he complained about being tired while preparing lunch at Santa Margherita Ligure Castle.

Despite some professional setbacks, Max was a likable and entertaining cast member on Below Deck Mediterranean season 8.

Despite a difficult transition, Max's situation began to improve after Luka and Lara adjusted their management approach , opting for positive reinforcement rather than criticism. However, the ongoing turmoil among the crew continued to impact Max's mental health. Tensions peaked when Kyle Viljoen confronted Max over a misunderstanding related to the LGBTQIA+ community, which spiraled into a conflict involving Natalya.

Max confided in Captain Sandy Yawn about his desire to quit due to the negative atmosphere affecting his well-being. Captain Sandy refused to let him go, but his departure from the industry after the show wasn't shocking. After such a tumultuous season, it's no wonder Max decided to leave yachting behind.

Will Max Ever Return To Below Deck Mediterranean?

He left the yachting industry behind.

Given his career change, it's highly unlikely that Max will return to Below Deck Med or the yachting world in general. He seemed to prefer the French style of professional yachting, but regardless of where the deckhand found himself, the life of waiting on others no longer served him. Max has found a new career in hypnotherapy and isn't looking back. He has a new relationship, and while he's grateful for his time on Below Deck Mediterranean , Max has moved on.

Below Deck Mediterranean season 9 premieres Monday, June 3 at 9 p.m. EDT on Bravo.

What Happened To Max Salvador After Below Deck Mediterranean Season 8?

Captain Lee Rosbach Shares Update on His Health, Life After Below Deck and His Return to TV

Below deck alum captain lee rosbach revealed if he's watching his successor capt. kerry titheradge on season 11 of the bravo series and teased his return to tv with a true crime twist..

Captain Lee Rosbach has officially set sail on the next chapter of his life.

After Below Deck 's longtime captain left the Bravo series last year after 10 seasons amid a nerve problem that required medical attention, the 74-year-old shared an update on his health post-leg surgery.

"I'm doing great," Lee exclusively told E! News ahead of the premiere of his new Oxygen series Deadly Waters With Captain Lee . "I've been going to the gym every day. I still have a slight limp, but other than that I don't have to use a cane or any crutches or anything like, which I'm grateful. I'm happy to be healthy again."

While Lee hasn't necessarily been keeping up with Below Deck 's ongoing 11th season , he has heard about his successor Captain Kerry Titheradge 's no-nonsense leadership style amid the latest crew drama.

"I've caught parts of it and I've read a lot about it," he shared, "it seems that Kerry's got his hands full. I think they fired four people this year. That's a lot. I thought I was good at firing people."

And Bravo fans who miss seeing Lee on Below Deck are in for a treat. He's hosting a brand new Oxygen true crime series  Deadly Waters With Captain Lee , which highlights the most mysterious crimes—and even real-life murders—that happened at sea.

The new project is one of the reasons Lee hasn't had much free time to keep in touch with his former St. David yachties.

"I've been doing a lot of work with this new show and that's occupied a lot of my time and thought process," he explained, "because it's it is so totally different from  Below Deck . We have people that get killed. Even though on Below Deck I may have felt like I wanted to kill somebody at one time or another, it didn't actually ever happen. Here we're in a little bit more of a serious nature and it affects people's lives and people do lose their lives."

"It's amazing how much the ocean plays in catching these perpetrators," Lee continued. "When I watched the first episode, I thought, 'What are they thinking?!'"

See Capt. Lee return to the sea when Deadly Waters with Captain Lee premieres Saturday, June 1, at 9 p.m. on Oxygen. And keep reading to look back at the most dramatic crew firings in Below Deck history.

"She's the common denominator in all of this," said Captain Sandy. "Great girl, great personality, but at the same time, we have to do what's best for the boat."

Below Deck Adventure 's Kyle Dickard was let go just three episodes into the reality franchise's latest series—which premiered in November 2022. After picking fights with his fellow deckhand Nathan Morley —as well as kissing crew mates in front of guests—Kyle was offered by Captain Kerry Titheradge the opportunity to resign so that his firing would not end up on his personal record.

Kyle took the Captain up on his offer and left the boat after just one charter.

Captain Sandy let bosun Raygan Tyler go during season seven of Below Deck Mediterranean ,  not only for causing the boat to  take a small hit while docking, but also for not stepping up to the plate as a leader.

But Captain Sandy didn't want her firing to discourage the bosun, as she told Raygan, "If I had the time and I wasn't running a boat this size, I would train you. I would teach you."

In addition to onboard romances and failing to follow directions , one of the biggest reasons behind stew Elizabeth Frankini 's Below Deck firing was her infamous laundry room accident , during which made a toxic mess when combining bleach and laundry soap.

"Unfortunately, I didn't know that was so toxic and I feel so bad about it," she told E! News of the incident in December 2020 . "You know, I do feel really bad, especially 'cause Francesca [ Rubi ] did say, 'Take it outside.'"

The bosun and stew were both fired by Captain Jason Chambers for inappropriate behavior after a night of partying with their fellow yachties.

Luke Jones was let go after getting into Stew Margot Sisson 's bed naked while she was drunk and unconscious. Laura Bileskaine also made unwanted advances on Deckhand Adam Kodra despite him telling her he was not interested in hooking up.

Jason made it known that consent was a must, and sent both crewmembers packing.

Tensions between stew Lexi Wilson and Chef Mathew Shea came to a head during an explosive dinner fight on season six of Below Deck Mediterranean , during which Lexi told Matt that his parents "should've aborted you." That was the last straw for Captain Sandy, who fired her not long after the incident.

Deckhand Tom Pearson said "bon voyage" to Below Deck Sailing Yacht after getting let go by Captain Glenn Shephard . Tom hit his last strike with the Captain after failing to report that the boat's anchor was dragging during heavy winds one night, causing a potential safety risk for everyone on board.

"It had to be done. It was such a grievous thing that he dropped the ball there, he had to go, and we had to just be man down and live with it, you know?" Captain Glenn said of the decision  on Watch What Happens Live. "So, obviously, you don't want to do that, but yeah, it had to happen."

Some people are picky eaters, but Below Deck Down Under' s Ryan McKeown was quite the picky chef, as he would judge guests'  food requests  and fail to take  criticism from Captain Jason Chambers , as well.

Perhaps Ryan's Below Deck exit is one of the franchise's most memorable, as he mooned Jason and viewers on his way off the boat.

Below Deck Down Under stew Magda Ziomek 's firing was another case of slacking on the job. After constantly being on her phone texting or video chatting with her boyfriend, Chief Stew Aesha Scott decided to replace Magda before the end of the charter season.

Below Deck Mediterranean 's Peter Hunziker was fired from the series in June 2020 after he shared an offensive post on social media.

"Peter Hunziker of Below Deck Mediterranean has been terminated for his racist post," Bravo wrote in a statement at the time. "Bravo and 51 Minds are editing the show to minimize his appearance for subsequent episodes."

Chief Stew Hannah Ferrier was let go by Captain Sandy on Below Deck Mediterranean after boson Malia White discovered her co-star possessed undeclared Valium and a vape pen, the former of which Hannah claimed was for her anxiety.

"If I could do it all over again, I would've just declared them as soon as I came on board," Hannah stated in an August 2020 interview with E! News. "It was definitely not something that was intentional. I wasn't trying to hide anything.

Below Deck Mediterranean 's Delaney Evans left just as quickly as she arrived. After initially being brought on during season six to help out Chief Stew Katie Flood , Katie determined that Delaney was doing more harm than good, choosing to let her go after just one charter.

"I think she was overwhelmed with the situation, and I think that, you know, in her mind, the best solution to the situation was just to go back to what they had before," Delaney told Bravo Insider of Katie's decision. "I think she was just overwhelmed with everything that was going on and all the feedback she was getting."

Deckhand Shane Coopersmith was a bit in over his head on season eight of Below Deck , as he was let go for failing to know basic skills, reporting late for duty and taking naps on the job.

Chaos in the kitchen led to Captain Lee Rosbach letting Chef Leon Walker go on season three of Below Deck . After an oven fire broke out , Lee placed the blame on Chief Stew Kate Chastain but was ultimately the one sent home.

Like several of the franchise's stars, Below Deck 's Chris Brown  was fired  during season five for failing to fully perform his duties. After being let go by Captain Lee, Chris shared some parting words as he left the boat, stating , "Who gives a s--t?"

Chef Mila Kolomeitseva was fired by Captain Sandy on season four of Below Deck Mediterranean after failing to use her cooking skills to produce top-quality food for guests—including some not-so-nice nachos .

"Of course it makes me feel awful," Mila said of her departure . "People like me who have big egos sometimes have to be put down to earth a little bit. But it makes me feel like I want to work even harder."

Sometimes people just don't work well together. That's exactly why Captain Lee fired Chandler Brooks during season six of Below Deck , telling the boson, "I don't think it's a good fit."

  • Malia White's journey on Below Deck Med included love triangles, promotions, and controversial decisions as bosun.
  • Despite backlash, Malia stood by her job-related decisions and later regretted her handling of the situation with Hannah Ferrier.
  • Malia's dating life post-Below Deck Med included romances with Tom Checketts, Jake Baker, and mystery man Kory Keefer.

Malia White first joined Below Deck Mediterranean in season 2, where she engaged in a love triangle with Adam Glick and Wesley Walton. The Bravo star appeared in season 2 as a deckhand and was promoted to lead deckhand during the season. Malia returned to Below Deck Med season 5 as the first female bosun in the series. She became controversial as a bosun when she reported to Captain Sandy Yawn that Chief Stew Hannah Ferrier had illegal Valium and a vape onboard, leading to Hannah's immediate dismissal.

Despite the backlash, Malia returned for season 6 but won't be appearing in Below Deck Med season 9 . Malia later regretted how she handled Hannah's situation . In season 5, Malia, who shared a cabin with Hannah, discovered her Valium and reported it to Captain Sandy, leading to Hannah's shocking firing. Although she received plenty of criticism, Malia stood by her decision to do her job. However, before she made waves in season 5, she had a dramatic love triangle with Adam and Wes in season 2.

Reality TV is more popular than ever. With so many to choose from, here are some of the best reality TV shows to stream or watch right now.

Malia & Adam Dated Before Joining Below Deck Med

Their relationship was short-lived.

Malia and Adam's relationship was a central storyline during Below Deck Med season 2. Before the season began, Malia and Adam had already formed a romantic connection , keeping their relationship somewhat private. However, when they both joined the crew of the yacht Sirocco for the show, their history was initially undisclosed. As the season progressed, tensions arose as Malia found herself caught in a love triangle between Adam and another crew member, Wes.

Adam appeared on both Below Deck Med and Below Deck Sailing Yacht and returned as a chef after his stint on Below Deck Med . In Below Deck Med season 2, his relationship with Malia led Adam to act out , including putting unwanted ingredients in guests' food and attacking Wes on a day off. While Adam redeemed himself in Below Deck Med season 3, he reverted to his earlier behavior on Sailing Yacht , displaying meanness and pursuing a relationship with Chief Stew Jenna Macgillivray. However, the pair has since split.

Malia & Adam Pretended To Not Know Each Other

Wes felt blindsided by the revelation.

Adam struggled with Malia's growing interest in Wes, especially considering their pre-existing relationship. The situation became increasingly complicated as it was revealed to the crew that Malia and Adam had known each other and been romantically involved before joining the yacht. This information sparked significant tension among the crew, particularly between Adam and Wes. Adam and Malia's decision to pretend they didn't know each other was bizarre and made an already dramatic situation way worse. Yachts are small, and secrets are sure to come out, which was the case for Adam and Malia.

Malia could have prevented the love triangle with Adam and Wes if she had been upfront about her previous relationship.

Malia Ended Up Falling For Wes

She chose wes over adam.

Malia and Wes' romantic journey unfolded on Below Deck Med season 2 when Malia chose the bosun over Adam. He and Malia worked closely together throughout the season, but even with Adam in the mix, their professional partnership blossomed into a romantic connection. Their relationship hit a rough patch when Wes discovered that Malia had previously dated Chef Adam before joining the crew. Although Malia's past with Adam wasn't serious, Adam's lingering feelings and jealousy added complexity to Malia and Wes' relationship. Despite Adam's advances and attempts to win her back, Malia ultimately chose to pursue her connection with Wes.

Their relationship continued beyond the confines of the show, but their romantic journey eventually reached its end sometime between the Below Deck Med season 2 reunion and Malia's return to season 5. While it's uncertain if Wes dated someone else after Below Deck Med , he focused on advancing his career, obtaining his Chief Mate 3000 ton license and working as a chief officer on yachts worldwide. Wes also maintained a friendship with Malia and travels the world as a yachtie outside the show.

Who Did Malia Date After Below Deck Med Season 2?

She's currently dating a mystery man.

Malia's dating life has remained public since Below Deck Med season 2. She notably dated Tom Checketts after parting ways with Wes. Their relationship seemed promising initially, with Malia speaking highly of Tom and expressing her interest in him due to their shared profession in the yachting industry. However, Tom's fiery temperament caused issues , leading to occasional outbursts that were a turn-off for Malia. Despite appearing together at the season 5 reunion, their romance fizzled out shortly after, culminating in a breakup in September 2020.

After breaking up with Tom, Malia dated Jake Baker , an engineer whom Malia met during the filming of Below Deck Med season 6. While the show didn't explicitly portray their relationship, their connection off-screen became apparent. Post-filming, Malia and Jake started dating. Despite the promising start, they parted ways around mid-2022, marking the end of another chapter in Malia's seemingly endless love connections.

However, her public romances didn't end there, as Malia started dating Kory Keefer . Unfortunately for Malia, it was revealed that the Winter House star was dating Sam Feher, whom he met during the filming of Summer House season 7 in the summer of 2022. Malia seems to have learned from her past relationships, as she doesn't tag her boyfriend in posts anymore. Luckily, she and her mystery man appear to be happy and traveling together after her time on Below Deck Mediterranean .

About Below Deck Mediterranean

The azure waters and ancient ruins of Athens, Greece set the scene as Capt. Sandy returns to steer her team through a season brimming with fresh and formidable challenges. Between eccentric guests, an abundance of late-night demands that require intervention and a never-before-seen mechanical issue that orders all hands on deck, the crew faces tumultuous waves from the start.       Back on board the 180-foot M/Y Mustique, a series of initial hurdles sets the crew off on the wrong foot. Amidst a saga of delayed provisions, managing a complicated interior department and a medical emergency, Aesha strives to ensure the guests are treated to a five-star service experience. Chef Jono, a self-taught culinary architect, quickly learns he has high expectations to fill to prove his culinary capabilities to the guests. Meanwhile, the deck crew faces its own hurdles and must learn that communication is key in order to successfully get through the season.      This season’s boatmances stir up waves of tension as two crewmates find themselves with their sights set on a mutual love interest causing disruptions among departments. A personal relationship also tests a deckhand’s budding romance, leading them to make a tough decision.       Finally, to round out the season, Capt. Sandy orchestrates the surprise of a lifetime for her partner, Leah, that leaves everyone in tears.

Captain Lee Explains Why ‘Below Deck’ Couldn’t Prepare Him for His ‘Deadly Waters’ Experience (Exclusive)

Despite being on Below Deck for 10 years, Captain Lee Rosbach admitted that the Bravo series did not help him prepare for his new gig on Oxygen’s Deadly Water s.

“Not at all. I mean, there’s cameras and water,” Lee, 74, exclusively told Us Weekly about how Below Deck compared to Deadly Waters . “That’s where all similarities end.”

Lee poked fun at the most recent Below Deck drama while discussing his new project, adding, “[On] Below Deck , [they] have to worry about Jill Zarin and how her ice cubes didn’t fit [or] they weren’t the right size.”

The stakes are much higher on his true crime show, Deadly Waters. “You’re talking about bodies popping up and about the effect that it has on the relatives and the mothers and the fathers and the sisters and the people that are left behind,” Lee added.

Before joining Deadly Waters , Lee was part of the Below Deck franchise since the show debuted in 2013. He took a break from filming season 10, which aired in 2022, to deal with ongoing health issues . Lee was temporarily replaced by Below Deck Mediterranean ‘s Captain Sandy Yawn before he returned later in the season.

Captain Lee Teases Similarities Between Deadly Watersand 'Below Deck

Season 11, however, kicked off with Lee being replaced with Below Deck Adventure ‘s Captain Kerry Titheradge . The shift allowed Lee to branch out with his “Salty With Captain Lee” podcast and Deadly Waters, which has him unraveling the secrets of homicide investigations on rivers, lakes and the open seas. Using his expertise, Lee will expose the maritime clues that sunk the perps and ultimately led to their capture.

“Sometimes it’s inexperience where it’s a red flag that an inexperienced captain or inexperienced operator just didn’t pick up on, and they ended up paying for it dearly,” Lee told Us. “And that’s one of the things that jumped out at me. Then just the perpetrators themselves, their lack of maritime [knowledge] of wind waves and current and tides. The list goes on forever that often proves to be their undoing, which is a good thing for law enforcement.”

After taking a filming break, Lee admitted it felt good to be back in front of the camera with Deadly Waters .

“For one, it’s got something to do with water. So usually if it’s got something to do with water, I’m in. I [also] like crime shows. I’ve been watching Law & Order and all of the whodunits for a million years,” he continued. “I’m that guy that sits there and thinks he’s got it all figured out and then realizes that he wasn’t anywhere close to what really happened.”

Lee was particularly invested by the true crime aspect of the series.

“There’s something about when you’re dealing with things that actually have happened, and people’s lives have actually been lost and other people’s lives are affected. There’s something about that that adds a new twist to it that makes it all the more real,” he explained. “You’re not dealing with Sam Waterston and the rest of the cast of Law & Order . For our show, once we close out that episode, those people aren’t ever coming back. It adds a realism to it that you can’t get just by writing it. It has to be experienced and lived.”

While Lee’s time on Below Deck didn’t help him on the show, his experience as captain did.

“There’s certain aspects that when a murder is committed on dry land, maybe they’re gonna drive the body somewhere or dig a hole and put it in there. When you’re on the water, the most obvious thing is, ‘We’re gonna dump it over the side.’ But what they fail to realize is — especially if they don’t know anything about tides, currents or wind waves — is that what necessarily goes over the side and sinks to the bottom doesn’t necessarily stay at the bottom,” Lee, who has spent more than three decades as a mega yacht captain, noted. “There’s a reason that bodies don’t stay down where they’re supposed to or where their perpetrators want them to. But because they don’t know about the ocean and they don’t know what water can do, it puts them at a disadvantage.”

He added: “That’s where our dedicated men from the people that serve in maritime law enforcement agencies have a distinct advantage because they do know. The Coast Guard when they get involved, the maritime police [and] the Navy. They have a thankless job and it all too often gets extremely gruesome.”

Lee also opened up about which case from Deadly Waters captivated him the most.

“The thing that affects me the most is how do people have that in them? What makes them go from just being a normal individual to somebody that can murder in cold blood however many people and not give it another thought?” he told Us. “I don’t know what transpires in their heads — nor do I care. My primary concern is that they get caught, and they deserve what they get. And then sometimes, I don’t think punishment fits the crime.”

Deadly Waters With Captain Lee premieres on Oxygen Saturday, June 1, at 9 p.m. ET and episodes will be available to stream on Peacock the next day.
