the sales process was good. great prices, very attentive. everything else has been bad. got upsold the "vip" service plan, battery replacement, gps tracker. read the fine print. sales person, who was supposed to be my contact person, doesn't respond to emails. the garmin map took forever to figure out how to upload from website. battery dead. they don't come to dock to fix. they don't have mobile service. went for 20 hour service and told them alignment was way off. they didn't fix it and I had to arrange another pickup and pay to fix.

Amazing. I went here to get new brakes for my SSR 70C But unfortunately, they did not have the exact part I wanted. The lady was very nice and explained how Rockstar Power Sports is mainly cutting off SSR parts, and because of that, she offered me a chain, front sprocket, a master cylinder, and an air filter for FREE. Yes, I did not need the master cylinder but I accepted everything else. If you have a chinese bike, this may not be the place for you. But if you have America, European, or Japanese bikes, this is the perfect place. Customer service was very kind and helpful for our needs. Wide selection of ATVs, Street bikes, Dirt bikes, Dune buggies, and lots more. Great place but doesn't work with chinese bikes.

If you want to be treated fairly, I would look elsewhere. My dad had the misfortune of coming to Rockstar Powersports recently to trade in his boat/motorcycle and to purchase a trike. My dad is an 81-year-old widower who was not given the chance to test ride the used trike before purchasing it. Upon riding the trike after purchase, my dad had serious concerns about his safety surrounding visibility and handling. When we called Rockstar Powersports to immediately make them aware, they stated that they would accept the trike in the same condition for $2,500 less than my dad paid for it. Rockstar Powersports treated my dad appallingly given the amount of money he brought them with his trade-ins and their actions were nothing short of predatory. Edited to add: The online responses from the company are just for show. We contacted Luis after the response to this review, only to have him waste more time expressing that he had absolutely no qualms about the way Rockstar treated my father. Why bother responding to the review other than to make it appear as though customer service is a priority? It was beyond disgraceful. Rockstar does not care about after-sales support. Please don't waste your money or time here.

I just picked up my new seadoo jet ski from Rockstar of St pete! As many times before my salesman Gino Patrizzi met me in the parking lot and walked me through the process as he had many times! He guided me to Paul Fleming, the business managers office, who completed the required paper work in his usual fast thorough manor. I exited to the parking lot where my new jet ski was waiting on my trailer. We went over the jet ski in great detail and I was on my way. Can't say enough great things about this dealership!! First class sales, parts and service every time I am there!! Alan H.

Had my 2021 Honda Foreman in for the first time to get a snorkel kit, radiator relocate kit, new tires and wheel. I wanted a clean professional job done and that's exactly what I got! I had lots of questions since this was my first build on my new toy both Jeremy in parts and John in service we're both informative and professional and I would not hesitate to continue to get any future projects taken care of there. The mechanic that worked on my atv was meticulous and took the time to explain every detail of the job. Thanks again for a great job!

Just bought a KTM 390 Adventure at Barney's! I would give 0 starts if possible. Justin the store manager and Fernando the service manager continually dropped the ball on my repair. They continued to tell me my ski was being worked on and they would call back with update. Day after day, no update. They are awful with communication and no better with customer service. I highly recommend the Brandon location over this St Pete location. Ask for Kenny at Brandon.

New Reports Allege GOP Donor Harlan Crow Paid For Clarence Thomas’ Yacht Trip To Vladimir Putin’s Hometown

Here we go again...

Just days after Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) filed articles of impeachment against Supreme Court Justices Samuel Alito and Clarence Thomas, Democratic lawmakers claimed Thomas took a free yacht trip to Russia.

They sent a letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland on July 3 detailing a number of “likely undisclosed gifts” that have been given to Thomas over the years, including an alleged yacht trip in 2003 to Russia and the Baltics and a helicopter ride to Yusupov Palace, St. Petersburg, Russian President Vladimir Putin’s hometown.

Both trips were allegedly paid for by Republican billionaire donor Harlan Crow.

The trips were first highlighted in the May 2023 bombshell ProPublica report . St. Petersburg is home to the Yusupov Palace, where Putin has held and attended events for many years. It is unknown if Thomas met with the Russian leader during his visit, but Senators Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI), chairman of the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Federal Courts, and Ron Wyden (D-OR), chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, have questions that need answers.

“The scale of the potential ethics violations by Justice Thomas, and the willful pattern of disregard for ethics laws, exceeds the conduct of other government officials investigated by the Department of Justice for similar violations,” the letter read. “The breadth of the omissions uncovered to date, and the serious possibility of additional tax fraud and false statement violations by Justice Thomas and his associates, warrant the appointment of a Special Counsel to investigate this misconduct.”

The letter calls for Garland to hire a special prosecutor to investigate Thomas’ potential federal ethics and tax violations. Ocasio-Cortez called it “unchecked corruption.”

According to Fox News, Ocasio-Cortez filed articles of impeachment against both Thomas and Alito , arguing the undisclosed gifts Thomas has received from wealthy donors and the drama surrounding Alito’s personal politics raises serious cause for concern. “Reasonable Americans will and do believe that Justices Thomas and Alito are prone and subject to corruption, that the institution failing to punish them is broken, and that, consequently, their impeachment is a constitutional imperative and our congressional duty,” she said in a recent speech on the House floor .

“The abuses of power committed by Justice Thomas and Justice Alito are precisely the types of corruption that the frames understood was an existential threat to our democracy,” she added. “Instances like these and misconduct like that of Alito’s and Thomas’ are precisely why the framers gave us the tool of impeachment.”

Corruption, without consequence, infects all it touches. Congress must exercise its powers to impeach. The corruption of Justices Thomas & Alito constitutes a clear danger to our democracy. I moved to impeach them because it is the right thing to do for the American people. pic.twitter.com/eOscx9avE1 — Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (@RepAOC) July 11, 2024

Included in the filings are three articles of impeachment against Thomas, with charges involving the undisclosed gifts and his refusal to recuse himself in cases surrounding his wife Virginia’s legal and financial interests. The two against Alito include accusations of him refusing to recuse himself in cases involving his “personal bias or prejudice concerning a party” before the court.

Clarence Thomas Took Free Yacht Trip to Russia, Chopper Flight to Putin’s Hometown: Dems

The allegedly secret gifts were disclosed in a letter from two Democratic senators that accused Thomas of potentially committing tax fraud.

Anna Conkling

Evelyn Hockstein/Reuters

Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas has been accused of not disclosing a yacht trip to Russia and a private helicopter flight to a palace in President Vladimir Putin’s hometown, among a slew of other gifts and loans from businessman Harlan Crow .

Buried on page 14 of a letter that two Democratic senators sent to Attorney General Merrick Garland on Tuesday, in which they urged Garland to appoint a special counsel to probe Thomas, was an astonishing list of dozens of “likely undisclosed gifts and income” from Crow, Crow’s affiliated companies, and “other donors.”

In the letter, Sens. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) and Ron Wyden (D-OR) said Thomas, one of the court’s staunchly conservative justices , even may have committed tax fraud and violated other federal laws by “secretly” accepting the gifts and income potentially worth millions.

“The Senate is not a prosecutorial body, and the Supreme Court has no fact-finding function of its own, making the executive role all the more important if there is ever to be any complete determination of the facts,” reads the letter requesting the appointment of a special prosecutor.

“We do not make this request lightly,” said the letter.

The list of potentially secret gifts also includes a loan of more than $267,000 provided by Thomas’ close friend Anthony Welters, the yacht trip to Russia from the Baltics, and the helicopter ride to Yusupov Palace in St. Petersburg. ProPublica first reported last year on the existence of extensive undisclosed gifts and lavish trips from Crow.

Additionally, Justice Thomas is accused of not disclosing tuitions for his grandnephew, free lodging, real estate transactions, and home renovations. The action escalates Democratic senators’ efforts to hold Thomas accountable for perceived ethics controversies.

According to the senators, Thomas’ conduct could violate the Ethics in Government Act, which requires officials like Supreme Court justices to file annual reports disclosing gifts and income accepted from outside sources.

“It is a crime,” reads the report, “To knowingly and willfully fail to file or report such information.”

Since 2023, two Senate committees have been looking into the 1991 loan from Welters that was connected to Thomas’ purchase of a luxury motor home. Welters previously responded to a New York Times request for comment on the loan only to say that it was “satisfied.”

Thomas, for his part, belatedly disclosed some—but not all—gifts from Crow this year and has defended the gifts as “personal hospitality” from some of his and his wife’s “dearest friends.”

“The evidence assembled thus far plainly suggests that Justice Thomas has committed numerous willful violations of federal ethics and false-statement laws and raises significant questions about whether he and his wealthy benefactors have,” Whitehouse and Wyden wrote.

Since a billion-dollar plan to turn an industrial marine service hub in St. Petersburg into a village of condos, affordable housing and office, hotel and conference space fell through a few years ago, the property owners, workers and residents around Salt Creek knew it wouldn’t be long before another outfit eyed the area for redevelopment.

Rumors are swirling since two neighboring boatyards on the south side of the creek were recently bought up by two little-known companies for a combined $14.8 million. A third parcel next door also received an offer but no deal was made.

One seller and a consultant for another property owner told the Tampa Bay Times that they do not know who exactly is on the other end of the transaction, nor do they know what the future plans are.

“It was only a matter of time until someone else came along,” said City Council member Gina Driscoll, who represents the area just south of downtown and the Bayboro Harbor and has received frantic calls from boaters. “It’s just a fear of the unknown.”

If those boatyards cease operations, local boaters may lose nearby access to services while companies and workers who work at or sublease from those properties may be out of a job or workspace.

“We’re going to lose the trades that support the 1,000 slips that the city owns or manages in downtown St. Petersburg and there’s nothing we can do about it,” said delivery captain Bill Herrmann. “Boat guys, fiberglass guys, they don’t make captain money but they’re making pretty good salary down there. We’re replacing those with more opportunities for minimum-wage jobs.”

Sold properties

Progressive Marine Service Inc. at 1351 Bay St. SE sold first in March for $4.8 million to Odyssey Real Estate Development LLC. Progressive boasts a 94-ton, 26-foot Beam Travel Lift on its website, ideal for hauling large boats. Progressive Marine owner Dan Jimenez did not return multiple requests, including calls, texts and a visit to the business, for comment.

Johannes J. Helsen, who has operated Sailor’s Wharf since 1978, said he was offshore sailing and using satellite internet in April to download movies when an offer came in for the yacht yard at 1421 Bay St. SE. Two weeks later, the property sold for $10 million to Prometheus Maritime Investments LLC.

“What I do know is that there’s a lot of money behind them,” said Helsen, 77. “I haven’t even met them.”

Helsen said he will operate his boatyard through hurricane season, until the last day of November. He previously was under contract with Royal Palm, the developers who had big plans totaling $2 billion for the area as recently as 2021, which he said “would’ve been the best thing for this city.”

Developer and consultant Mario Farias said Salt Creek Marina at 107 15th Ave. SE received an offer during a conversation about a month ago, but no agreement was reached. He declined to say the price offered and said the Harborage on the north side of Salt Creek, which he also represents, did not receive an offer.

“I think they’ve had that same conversation with everybody up and down the creek,” he said. “We’re not that motivated to sell because of the operation that we run.”

Developer Blake Whitney Thompson bought Renovators Yacht Co. property along the creek at 1600 Third St. S. in March for $1.365 million, but he said he isn’t part of a larger redevelopment effort and is letting the company continue operating. He said that since the sale closed, he has been contacted by six intermediaries with offers.

“Whoever is out there doing that, putting together an assemblage, they’re going to be happy,” Thompson said. “This area is going to flourish.”

Several owners and representatives for other properties along Salt Creek declined to comment or meet with a reporter.

Bill Dahl, former president of the Old Southeast Neighborhood Association, said single-family homes appear to be targeted, too. A house was purchased in April for $500,000 by a company called Prometheus 2nd St S LLC.

“It appears, from different sources, a lot of commercial properties (and) the boatyards south of Salt Creek have been at least contacted, if not received offers,” Dahl said. “There appears to be activity with single-family residences.”

William Felder, the seller of that home, told a reporter he saw the buyer had proof of funds of $13 million. He said he was told that business associates would live at the home while purchasing more property in the area.

Cullen Mahoney, whom Felder said acted as the buyer for the sale, is listed on LinkedIn as the director for real estate investments and development at Prometheus Partners.

“We’re not really (making) a comment at this point,” Mahoney said when reached by phone. “We’re trying to formalize a plan and go from there.”

Who are the buyers?

Odyssey Real Estate Development LLC and Prometheus Maritime Investments LLC share a mailing address, an office in Clearwater. The building is owned by a company called Prometheus Restaurant Office LLC.

The state database shows several companies using the name Prometheus with the same addresses and representatives. A company called Southeast Investment Property Holdings, an affiliate of Prometheus, lists Nicholas Peters as chairperson and Chris Suh as president. The website describes the company as a private real estate holding company that acquires properties occupied by nationally franchised restaurant and retail operators.

A biography on the University of Tampa’s website says Peters founded Prometheus in 1996 and completed acquisitions for Taco Bell, Pizza Hut and IHOP.

Peters and Suh are also both involved in the Armed Forces Families Foundation, which earns money through the annual Skyway 10K race over the Sunshine Skyway bridge. Peters is listed on the foundation’s website as its founder and managing director with Suh as a part of the leadership team.

Peters’ biography refers to him as a “Tampa-based entrepreneur and small business owner with significant investment, corporate finance, and management experience in building and growing small businesses.” Suh’s blurb says he has more than 20 years of experience working with small business’ management teams in the areas of corporate finance and development and investments in real estate.

Peters could not be reached. Suh did not return calls and texts asking for comment. Mahoney, the buyer for the home sale, acknowledged that a reporter had been reaching out to Prometheus employees.

Future of Salt Creek

The land around Salt Creek is zoned institutional and allows for commercial, industrial and mixed-use development, including residences. It’s also a low-lying area that is deemed a coastal high hazard and prone to flooding. Maria Sciddurlo, a lead technician in the city’s Planning & Development Services department, said no permits or plans have been submitted for the sold properties.

Salt Creek is within St. Petersburg’s Innovation District, which is about to undergo a master planning effort. The City Council this month approved $450,000 to hire a planning consultant who will look at how to create a cohesive district around Salt Creek, Albert Whitted Airport, University of South Florida St. Petersburg, Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital and Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital. Farias said the Harborage contributed toward that master plan.

Innovation District executive director Alison Barlow said she’s heard rumblings about plans for the purchased properties but nothing concrete. She said a mixed-use development would be a “thoughtful” way to use the space.

“We certainly want to see aspects of the maritime community continue,” she said. “I’m anxious to get the master plan going so we can have a conversation. It’ll really help us imagine what’s possible.”
