The Patrick Banfield designed hull and Ken Freivokh styled deck have been specifically created to provide the ultimate multipurpose luxury tender. Powered by the reliable twin inboard Yanmar 6BY3 diesels and Mercury 1 stern drives and have just benefitted from an extensive 500hr engine service. Engine hours are around 300. One of only a handful of limo tenders of this type available on the second hand market.

Pascoe International sell world's first fully electric limousine tender

After a six year r&d period pascoe international are now offering fully electric propulsion for selected tenders….

Pascoe International have announced the sale of the world’s first 100% electric superyacht limousine tender. Pascoe International can confirm that the first fully electric limousine tender is now under construction and will be delivered in 2023 to a large new-build mothership from a major Northern European shipyard. Following a six-year research and development period, Pascoe International is now offering full electric propulsion for their limousines and open guest tenders.

Speaking to SuperyachtNews , Tom Southern, Vice president of Pascoe International stated, “With enquires for electric tenders increasing week on week, the sale of the first e-Limousine marks the start of a shift away from conventional propulsion systems. I personally believe that within the next couple of years we will see a significant increase in the number of fully electric main guest tenders. To accommodate this increase in demand, Pascoe have recently moved to a purpose built, state of the art manufacturing facility & design studio on the banks of the river Hamble. Our vision was to create a new home for Pascoe that represents the quality and innovation of our tenders. The new site will be a centre of excellence for Research and Development and will showcase the best of British Marine Manufacturing skills.”

Limousine sistership (conventional propulsion)

The Limousine Tender features a top speed of 40 knots and a maximum range of 60 miles, a step in the right direction for luxury water-borne travel and a move away from internal combustion propulsion systems in the superyacht sector. Pascoe International’s technical team have been studying the viability of electric-tender propulsion in collaboration with expert advisors and research partners for a number of years. During this process they have carried out extensive R&D on hull design, motor integration, battery performance and whole-system optimisation. Their Partners include automotive electrification specialists, propeller designers, battery manufacturers and leading university research teams.

While details on the motivations behind the clients purchase can not be revealed, Southern was keen to speculate on the industries future direction, “I can say that whilst there is certainly a drive from within the industry to highlight the importance of sustainable technologies, there is also a clear demand from owner's to bring the advancements we are seeing in the automotive world across to the marine sector. The main benefits are increased comfort onboard due to the reduction in noise and vibration and the knowledge that 100% emission free at point of use tenders are utilising the latest and most advanced technologies available.

For a yacht owner and their guests, the appeal of an electric limousine tender is not just environment-related. Whilst considerable fossil fuel savings are achieved by charging the tender from the ship’s own power generation systems compared to running the tender directly on diesel, there are other key advantages. These include a near total removal of torsional vibration transmitted into the hull structure, considerable reduction in noise (both inside the cabin and outside the tender), a significant increase in acceleration due to the torque profile of the electric motors and of course the knowledge that they are leading the global shift to zero-emission at point of use technologies.

The Pascoe e-Limousine based on the company’s award-winning SL platform uses the latest oil-cooled electric motors. Ensuring the most efficient transfer of power from the motor to the water is one of the critical areas that will set the e-Limousine apart from any other craft currently in use or indeed under development elsewhere. Pascoe International have partnered with experts in marine propulsion to develop a new drive system that provides optimum propulsion efficiency whilst removing the noise and vibration associated with a conventional stern-drive. The e-Limousine drive will also offer joystick docking.

Yachtwerft Meyer celebrates 30 years with new semi-custom tender series

  Yachtwerft Meyer is celebrating 30 successful years since its foundation. A name synonymous with quality, reliability and innovation in the tender market, the German brand's popular Silverline, CC-Line and full custom projects have catered to various needs, with an approach that ensures customer's needs are central to the entire process.

To sustain its innovation for the next 30 years, Yachtwerft Meyer has joined forces with  Zodiac Milpro Group. This collaboration will enhance their research and development capabilities and expand their international presence. 

"At Yachtwerft Meyer, our mission is to redefine luxury and innovation in the world of yacht tenders," says Patrick Bloch, CEO of Yachtwerft Meyer. "For 30 years, we have been dedicated ourselves to crafting exceptional vessels that blend unparalleled design, cutting-edge technology and meticulous German craftsmanship."

To celebrate its business anniversary, Yachtwerft Meyer has launched a semi-custom series called Impetus. Designed with a more "aggressive, modern aesthetic", the range offers larger tenders ranging from 10.5 to 12 metres in length. Accommodating up to 20 guests in both open and limousine configurations, BOAT explores how these boats make an ideal superyacht tender, chase boat or day boat.

Open to the elements

The open configuration allows guests to feel the boat's energy more intensely, being exposed to the elements and creating a deeper connection to their surroundings. Boarding is made easy with removable cushions on the aft platform and the option of retractable side boarding steps. Guests can enjoy deep, comfortable seating forward, with various options including an awning. Aft of the ergonomic helm station, there is a space that could serve as sunpads or storage for water toys, followed by an electric, movable swim platform at the stern. Additionally, there is an option to add a bar with a refrigerator and storage, and a dayhead for added convenience.

Limousine luxury

The closed, limousine option boasts sharp exterior lines and easy aft boarding, leading into an exterior seating area that can double as a sunpad or storage for water toys. A sliding door ushers you into the comfortable interior cabin, which features a sheltered, closed space with a 2-metre height. Available in either aft or forward helm stations, the limousine configuration offers ergonomic seating in various formats, electrical sun blinds, a full AV system and wine cooling. For those moments when guests want to feel more connected to the elements, an opening glass roof provides the perfect solution.

Semi-custom flexibility

The semi-custom benefits of Impetus mean faster build times and varied deck and interior layout options to suit the owner's preferences and match the aesthetic of the mothership when used alongside a superyacht. Owners can choose from a variety of interior and exterior colour schemes, logos and upholstery options to create a truly personalised vessel. "Every boat we deliver is thought of as a masterpiece and a perfect match to the mothership," Bloch explains. "Our international team of dedicated craftsmen, designers and engineers strives to exceed our clients' expectations by delivering custom-made yacht tenders that reflect their unique vision and lifestyle."

Powered by up to two Volvo D6-440 engines, the boats can achieve a top speed of 40 knots. Additional features include the option for a carbon stand-up shower aft, a carbon rocket launcher aft for fishing rod storage and underwater lights to enhance nighttime aesthetics and visibility. In line with Yachtwerft Meyer’s commitment to sustainable initiatives, the use of natural materials, such as flax fibre and cork, can be incorporated. There is an option of choosing hybrid or fully electric drives.
