Balboa Yacht Club

Play in the heart of downtown baltimore, marina info.

Located at the entrance of the Canal on the east side of the channel, is the Balboa Yacht Club in Balboa Harbor. They monitor VHF channel 6. Care must be taken to enter and turn right at buoy 14.5. Turning sooner will run you aground. The office phone is 507-228-5794. While there is no clubhouse, the Balboa Yacht Club is cruiser friendly. It can be rolly, but is a good place to transition when arranging for an advisor to board your boat for the transit of the Canal. It is also a safe place to leave your boat if you travel. They have railway haul out facilities, showers, and 24-hour water taxi service. Adjacent to the BYC is a hotel, The Country Inn, and a TGIF Friday’s restaurant.

Mooring ball is $0.65/ft/day

This marina does not require a credit card to hold the slip or any type of deposit. As a courtesy please notify the marina if you need to cancel your reservation at least 24 hours in advance.

Entrance area

This Club is totally overrated. All they have for themselves is a deck with an ocean view. Their menu is very limited. The filet mignon was tasteless, shrimps were overcooked, salmon was tough and dry. And yes you have to be a member to eat this low average food. The 3 star is for the good service. I guess that for some people being able to say they are a member of the Balboa Yacht Club is important. You don't get much more than that besides eating average food and leaving your yacht overnight for a few nights/month.

Stopped at BYC as a reciprocal from Dana West Yacht Club. Scott the Dock Master was the best we have ever seen. Found us a slip, helped us dock, brought us the bathroom keys and ice. What a pleasure to have him help us!!! We love this club!! Friendly staff and a beautiful facility. The bar and dining room are awesome!! They treat you so nice!! A must stop for any cruiser!!

Your Valets here need retraining. Yesterday they were using the public beach parking and taking up several spaces that are there to serve the community and are reserved for beach parking ONLY as stated on the signs on each parking spot. There are a very limited number of spaces designed for beach parking. In my personal opinion this reflects very poorly on the Yacht Club and shows disrespect towards fellow community members. My husband confronted several of the valet staff members that were involved regarding using the public space for private business usage and he was quite upset admittedly. As he walked off I overheard one of the Valet team members say F*** Y** to him. I feel in a professional setting language and comments like that are never appropriate and don't live up to the standards of an establishment that represents good taste and sophistication.
