Face: Orion

The Face of this Beyblade depicts the Orion constellation, a mighty hunter in Greek Mythology.

4D Clear Wheel: Orion

  • Weight: 3.0 grams

Orion is a four-sided 4D Clear Wheel that has two sharper contours and two broad edges. The two sharper sides of the 4D Clear Wheel represent the top of Orion's forehead, and create a distinct face when used in conjunction with Phantom. It contains the iron powder that all 4D Clear Wheels have. However, this does not add significant weight.

Use in Attack Customization

The Orion 4D Clear Wheel works well with the Flash 4D Metal Wheel in combinations such as MF-H Flash Orion GB145RF : Orion's weight distribution is synergetic with Flash's, while Orion's shape exposes Flash's contact points perfectly, its broader sides complimenting Flash's oval shape in Attack Mode.

4D Metal Wheel: Phantom

  • Weight: 44.50 grams

Phantom is composed of both a Metal Frame and a Core. By removing and flipping the Metal Frame, Phantom can alternate between two modes: Stamina Mode and Attack Mode.

Metal Frame

  • Weight: 42.0 grams

Phantom's Metal Frame makes up for most of Phantom's weight. It consists of two vastly different faces. The first one, facing up when Phantom is in Stamina Mode (henceforth known as the Stamina Face ), displays Orion's figure--eyes, nose and grin--twice, as well as two identical long surfaces--smooth, but uneven--representing Orion's sword and scabbard. On each is engraved two shallow holes where stickers can be applied to depict a total of four blue stars, which, combined with Orion's Face's three blue flames, form the Orion constellation. The second face, the Attack Face , on the other hand, is a rough, but even, patterned surface, only broken by a single octagonal shape overlapping and sticking out of the otherwise circular Metal Wheel's shape.

  • Weight: 2.50 grams

Phantom's Core is a small piece of polycarbonate, roughly the size of a Clear Wheel. It features four small, upward protrusions that fit in the Metal Frame's four matching slot, locking the latter in place in either mode.

Phantom's modes, Stamina and Attack, are distinguished as followed:

  • Stamina Mode

Stamina Mode is when the Metal Frame displays the Stamina Face , while the Attack Face faces the Stadium floor.

  • Attack Mode

Stamina Mode is when the Metal Frame displays the Attack Face , while the Stamina Face faces the Stadium floor.

Generally, Phantom's Stamina Mode is preferred since this 4D Metal Wheel performs the best in top-tier Stamina combos and that its design is much smoother.

The Cancer, Orion and Hades Clear Wheels are considered to have the best synergy with Phantom, with Cancer being able to spin around 2 minutes longer than Aquario on it, another widely-used Stamina Clear Wheel.

Use in Stamina Customization

Phantom's Stamina Mode demonstrates the best endurance in combos such as Phantom Cancer W145WD or Phantom Cancer TH170/230D .

Use in Tornado Staller Customization

Phantom's Attack Mode has been shown to work well in the Tornado Staller combo MF-L Phantom Hades/Cancer 85MF , which circles the BeyStadium's Tornado Ridge until it gradually dives towards the center for a finishing strike. This combination is functional in large part due to Phantom's nearly unmatched characteristics: the combination of top-tier Stamina with enough Attack potential to deliver meaningful hits to weakened opponents.

Mold Variation: Hasbro Metal Fury Version

Like all of Hasbro's Metal Fury releases, Metal Fury Phantom's parts are fused into one piece, stuck in its default mode (Stamina Mode). What stands as the PC Core on the original version is made completely out of metal. However, the resulting increase in weight is offset by the hollowed underside of Metal Fury Phantom, which removes about ten grams from the wheel's total weight, a trait it shares with other Metal Fury Metal Wheels. This, combined with the reduced Flywheel Effect from the PC Core being made of metal, makes Phantom no better than Earth and Burn, which are completely outclassed, even in Hasbro BeyStadiums, by Basalt, Hell, and Hyperblade Phantom, amongst the good Stamina Metal Wheels distributed by Hasbro. The Metal Fury version of this 4D Metal Wheel is thoroughly useless. The original 4D version of Phantom has since then been made available to Hasbro Bladers through Hasbro's Hyperblade series.

4D Bottom: Bearing Drive (B:D)

B:D has a unique, tall shape, and a height comparable to the TH170 (170 height) Track without a Bottom associated to the latter. It is also of a translucent yellow color which allows a faint view of the internal workings of the Bearings. This metal ball bearing mechanism allows the Beyblade to spin for long periods of time with minimal amounts of friction. Indeed, B:D paired with its release parts Phantom Orion is one of the only combinations able to spin up to 7 minutes.

Bearing Drive features, inside its plastic casing, a metal shaft connected to the middle of the 4D Bottom, a metal casing that is connected to the tip of B:D, and metal spheres in between them. Sometimes, the bearing is able to stop the shaft from spinning, resulting in less friction between the stadium floor and itself. These factors increase Stamina, but there exists many mold variations even within the same distributing company and general inconsistencies that can make this rarely happen. B:D's solo spin time often ranges between 2-5 minutes.

This interesting 4D Bottom reminescent of HMS' Bearing Cores however has considerable issues. Firstly, since all it focuses on is stamina, it remains very easy to knock out of the stadium, with its tip being similar to other vulnerable Stamina Bottoms such as WD. Secondly, while its height isn't a huge mistake and still allows the customization it is part of to be balanced with a decent center of gravity, the fact that this height is fixed becomes a disadvantage against the more varied assortments of Attack combinations.

While B:D has many issues in a BeyStadium Attack Type , it has proven to work extremely well in Zero-G Stadiums, such as the combo Gargole/Revizer/Killerken Dragooon B:D. In fact, B:D does not appear to suffer the same vulnerability issues as in the traditional metagame, due to Zero-G's wild, swaying gimmick that give new angles of stadiums for B:D to embrace.

Parts Overview [ ]

Facebolt: orion [ ].

The Face Bolt depicts "Orion", one of the 88 constellations. It is known as the winter constellation. In Greek mythology, Orion or "The Hunter" was a giant huntsman who died at the hands of the giant scorpion, Scorpio, and was placed as a constellation in space along with Scorpio by the God of Sky and Thunder, Zeus. The version on the face, however, depicts 'The Phantom' also known as Orion.

4D Performance Tip: B:D (Bearing Drive) [ ]

  • Weight: 3.45 grams

B:D has a unique, tall shape, and a height comparable to the TH170 (170 height) Track without a Bottom associated to the latter. It is also of a translucent yellow color which allows a faint view of the internal workings of the Bearings. However, it outclasses ES, MS, and EWD in terms of Stamina, lasting for up to 7 minutes in a peaceful spin, longer then MS' 5 minute record.

While B:D has many issues in a BeyStadium Attack Type, it has proven to work extremely well in Zero-G Stadiums, such as the combo Gargole/Revizer/Killerken Dragooon B:D. The ultimate guide to beyblades.

Beyblade is a famous line of spinning toy tops that were initially developed in Japan by toy manufacturer Takara Tomy. The design of these tops, along with their name is based on traditional Japanese battling tops known as “Bei-goma.” Another inspiration for these toys was the 1968 board game known as Battling Tops, which featured launchable spinning tops set in an arena with up to 4 competing players.

The basic premise of Beyblade is simple: Duellists bring their spinning tops (Beyblades) to the aptly-named Beystadium, a specially designed arena for Beyblade games. During the battle, the tops are launched into the stadium. The last top to remain standing is the winner. The type of Beystadium used can introduce specific hazards or other elements that will either help or hinder the tops’ performance.

is phantom orion a left spin

Since 1999, these highly collectable toys have been a smash hit with children and young adults, so that manga series and animated TV shows have been developed to depict a fictional universe in which Beyblades are at the forefront of intense battles for glory and power. In this universe, competitors are known as Bladers, and they journey around the globe, reaching fantastic destinations with thrilling adventures and suspense.

Beginning in 2002, Hasbro started distributing Beyblade internationally and its toys eventually became a worldwide sensation.

Now in its third generation, Beyblade Burst consists of 4 separate parts that can be manually assembled including several other exciting new features for would-be collectors and top battlers. Many of these toys have integrated lights and sounds or are customisable with a huge variety of mix-and-match parts, allowing kids to play Beyblade duels on the schoolyard or playground with colourfully fun tops of their own making. With over 15,000 possible combinations, there are nearly endless ways for real-life Bladers to hone their skills in their Beystadiums.

The demand for these toys has grown in Australia only in recent years. That’s why Mr Toys carries a vast number of these popular Beyblade toys and accessories. Check them out here now !

Because Mr Toys is one of Australia’s biggest chains of toy sellers, we have taken the pleasure of providing you the Ultimate Guide to Beyblades. This is a 4-part series.

Why is Beyblade so popular?

Young people inherently enjoy collecting toys that allow them to compete against their peers, as evidenced by the success of other favourite toys and games in this genre, such as Pokemon and the likes. This is doubly so when those collectables allow them to customise or mix-and-match from various parts to make the toys feel more like their own design.

When combined with the exciting light and sound features, along with the ability of these tops to spin at incredibly high rates for minutes on end, it’s easy to see why Beyblade appears to have caught on with youngsters. Beyblade-themed parties are now a common sight among the 8 to 12-year old crowds, while tournaments and other events are popping up across the country and around the world as well.

What age group is Beyblades for?

Most Beyblade products are designed for ages 8 and above. Because many of the sets contain small parts that pose choking hazards, parents and guardians are advised to take special care when offering these toys to younger children. Beyblade appears to be most popular with pre-teens, young adults, and adult toy collectors.

When was Beyblade first released?

Amazingly, Beyblade is now past its 20th year. Beginning in July 1999, Takara Tomy produced the first of these distinctive tops.

To help popularise the new toys, they also published a comic series that showcased the world of Beyblade and battling Bladers to kids all over the planet. Soon after, video games and a television series appeared, which further helped to popularise the toys across Japan.

International success, however, did not take off until 2002 when major toymaker and distributor Hasbro purchased the rights to sell the toys and distribute the anime TV series in various countries around the world.

What company makes Beyblade toys?

While Takara Tomy is the original manufacturer of Beyblade and owner of all Beyblade-related products and media, Hasbro owns the official license to sell and distribute all things related to this brand worldwide. Tomy continues to develop and manufacture the toys in Japan, which are then localised and released by Hasbro in various regions, including the United States and Australia.

When was the first Beyblade anime shown?

The first episode of the official Beyblade anime series premiered in Japan on 8 January 2001. Entitled “The Blade Raider”, the show introduced the series’ protagonist, Takao Kinomiya and his rival Hiruta (re-named Carlos in the English dub).

Over the course of the episodes, Takao discovers he possesses an ancient power that goes back to generations in his family. This power gives him the ability to defeat Hiruta and begin his quest to become the best Blader the world has ever known.

The English-dubbed version of the show debuted 6 July 2002. The first season proved to be highly successful, and 3 seasons of the show were ultimately produced, along with the spin-off series known as Beyblade: Metal Fusion.

Are there real Beyblade tournaments going on?

Just as in the fictional Beyblade world, Beyblade tournaments exist in the real world too. Perhaps the biggest and best example of this is the annual Beyblade Burst World Tour competition, which started in 2018 as an international series designed to allow highly-skilled Beyblade players and fans to compete either casually or for the chance to be crowned National or World Beyblade Champion.

In addition to this first-of-its-kind event, there’s also the fan-based World Beyblade Organisation (WBO) who hosts several competitions around the world. Bladers can tap the WBO to find or sponsor contests and other events near them, thereby allowing them to meet up with other Beyblade enthusiasts and play battles out in a real-life arena.

What is Beyblade made of?

Beyblades are made from a variety of components. The wheels are generally composed of polycarbonate, while the material for the bottoms can vary. Most parts of Beyblade toys are made from plastic, except for the Fusion Wheel. The introduction of the Beyblade: Metal Fusion series saw the incorporation of flashy and eye-catching metallic wheels, much to the delight of fans.

Which Beyblades light up?

Some Beyblade toys are known for having light-up features. Most notably are those from the Beyblade Burst Evolution Rip Fire series, which includes the following tops:

  • Roktavor R2
  • Valtryek V2

Why do Beyblades spin so long?

Some interesting physics are at play every time you launch a Beyblade top. Beyblades come with a launcher that is designed to help the tops quickly get up to speed, which is crucial for their long spinning life. The ripping action that occurs when the launcher is pulled back causes the tops to eject into the arena, where they are then at the mercy of their opponents and the various laws of physics.

The main spinning action is affected by a process known as precession. As the top spins across a flat surface, the upper end will slowly revolve around the vertical axis. When the top begins to slow due to the inertia, the precession effect increases – making it spin faster and faster. This causes the “wobbling” effect, which you will notice right before the top falls over onto its side.

However, while the top is spinning rapidly, there is enough torque to allow the top to precess forward with the help of its weight. The Beyblade top can maintain its balance longer on its axis because its spinning motion causes an equal amount of precession being applied to either side of the toy. This delicate balance is destroyed when the tops collide with one another or encounter various hazards, which causes them to slow down and eventually topple.

What is the rarest Beyblade in the world?

According to many Beyblade communities, the rarest Beyblade is the Wolborg. It features an ice-based wolf design belonging to Tala of the so-called Demolition Boys. Other rare Beyblades include the following:

  • Burn Phoenix
  • Gravity Perseus
  • Thermal Lacerta
  • Big Bang Pegasus
  • Galaxy Pegasus
  • Flash Leopard

What are the best Beyblades?

Determining which Beyblade is the best is a subjective topic. Because Bladers tend to be very passionate about their favourite Beyblades, the discussion of which one is the best is likely to be highly contentious. However, certain Beyblades in particular have gained a substantial fan following:

  • Diablo Nemesis X:D
  • Earth Eagle
  • Phantom Orion B:D
  • Basalt Horoguim
  • Hades Kerbecs
  • L-Drago Destructor F:S
  • Lightning L-Drago
  • Flame Libra

What these Beyblades have in common are larger diameter fusion wheels or greater weight, which translates into superior defensive capabilities. Some of them possess the new 4D system that splits the fusion wheel into 3 separate pieces for either an attack or absorb mode.

What are the most powerful Beyblades?

The most formidable Beyblades are noted for possessing specific key attributes, including speed and the ability to absorb attacks effectively. There are 4 main categories to reflect these:

The tops that excel the most in those categories are often viewed as the most powerful ones in the Beystadium.

Some examples include the Galaxy Pegasus or Hades Kerbecs. Both of these tops are old favourites, but they remain popular choices both in tournament rings and among casual players. Another Beyblade worth mentioning is the Diablo Nemesis, which features an ultra-strong fusion wheel and 3 damaging attack modes. Other high-performing Beyblades include Meteo L-Drago, Phantom Orion, and Earth Eagle.

Which Beyblade has the most stamina?

Stamina is a highly-sought characteristic among Bladers, and for good reason. In a game where one must be the last one standing to win, it makes sense that stamina would be a high priority. Stamina-type Beyblades are consistently among the most popular among Bladers, and no shortage of Beyblade components offer features related to improving a top’s overall stamina.

One stamina-type Beyblade that is particularly well-built to outlast the competition is the Phantom Orion B:D. This top features a bearing drive (or B:D) performance tip that contains tiny ball bearings for increased stability. This sturdy little top can remain spinning for over 7 minutes, and it has a reversible metal frame that can transform easily from stamina to attack mode and vice-versa.

The ever-popular Hades Kerbecs is another excellent choice when it comes to stamina. While its defence tip does not allow for much motion, its wide fusion wheel means that this Beyblade can stay upright better than much of the competition.

Other Beyblades that can go the distance include the Flash Sagittario, the Scythe Kronos, and the Burn Fireblaze 135MS. The Sagittario II energy ring in particular is notably heavy and defensive, while the free-spinning fusion wheel found on the Scythe Kronos limits the collision effect when it comes in contact with opponents or hazards in the Beystadium.

What is Beyblade Burst?

Beyblade Burst refers to the manga, anime, and toy line produced by Takara Tomy as the third incarnation of the Beyblade franchise. Since 2015, Hasbro has distributed these toys worldwide. And now, numerous types of Beyblade Burst tops are available in Australia and many other countries.

The toys are designed to complement the manga and anime’s plotline, which revolves around a Blader named Valt Aoi and his classmates, and their quest to survive gruelling tournaments as they aim to be crowned the “World’s #1 Blader.”

The Beyblade Burst line features over 20 tops with nearly endless mix and match possibilities. The main difference between the  Beyblade Burst tops and all previous Beyblades is the fact that these newer tops are designed to burst or break apart during battle. This has also created a new type of winning during clashes. The so-called Burst Finish is a type of attack that forces an opponent’s top to burst, and is worth an additional 2 points during the game.

Four different Beyblade Burst components are manually assembled before battle (with mix and match capabilities) and allow for many types of strategies. Some tops are geared toward attack, while others focus on stamina, balance, or defence.

What is Beyblade: Metal Fusion?

Beyblade: Metal Fusion, also known as Metal Fight Beyblade (Metaru Faito Beiburēdo) in Japan, is another storyline in the Beyblade universe, which introduced a category of tops under the same label. The plot in both the manga and anime series follows the journey of Gingka Hagane, a Beyblader who has a mysterious past. Together with his friend Kenta, Gingka must defeat the nefarious Dark Nebula, an organisation that is bent on unleashing the power of the forbidden Bey Lightning L-Drago over the world.

Some of the initial Beyblade: Metal Fusion tops are enduring fan-favourites, such as the Lightning L-Drago and Big Bang Pegasus. In line with the cosmic theme of the series, a variety of tops are named after constellations or zodiac signs, like Storm Capricorn and Rock Scorpio.

What is Beyblade Diomedes D2?

The Diomedes D2, also known as the Diomedes D2 Triple Accel , is an attack-focused top that is a part of the Beyblade Burst system. It is included as a starter pack in several western countries, including Australia. As an Attack type Beyblade, Diomedes D2 has an energy layer made up of 3 walls of colourful plastic and 3 points made of clear plastic. Together, these plastic components make the image of a bow and arrow, which is symbolic of the Beyblade’s namesake, the warrior Diomedes from Greek mythology.

is phantom orion a left spin

While Diomedes D2 excels as an aggressive attack-style top, its light weight means that it is potentially not as well suited for use in either defence or stamina combinations. However, its Triple Forge Disc does help to focus some of the weight around the top’s 3 central protrusions, which supports the top to remain upright for longer than it might otherwise.

What is Beyblade Hyrus H2?

Beyblade Hyrus H2  is one of the many Beyblade Burst Evolution tops introduced during season 2 of the animated series. It is a defence-focused battler with varying burst rates. As with most Beyblades, its components are interchangeable with most other tops in the series (except for Rip Fire tops). It may be used with any type of right-spin launcher and is suitable for ages 8 and up.

What is Beyblade Supergrip Launcher?

The  Beyblade Supergrip Launcher offers “More grip! More rip!” for Bladers who want to get a leg up in Beystadium battles. The 9-inch ripcord is an improvement from the standard style launcher. Compared to most launchers that are packaged alongside tops, this one is larger and has a more substantial build. It can be used with any Beyblade Burst top. It is not compatible with Beyblade: Metal Fusion toys however.

What is Beyblade Chaos Blade Stadium?

This 8-sided arena is the ideal space for all kinds of Beyblade battles. You may use it with any Beyblade Burst tops, which are sold separately. Featuring a durable design, the  Chaos Blade Stadium can hold up to even the most intense duels. At over 15” long, it has plenty of space for multiple tops to compete. This Beystadium also comes with a digital code that allows Bladers to unlock a virtual arena with the help of the Beyblade Burst app. As with most Beyblade toys, this product is suitable for children aged 8 and up.

×energy ring×

• Orion is burgundy in color, with designs of notches on its end. Orion has sharp spikes on its sides which are meant to repress the top half of Orion's face. Phantom Orion also comes with eye-like stickers for the Energy Ring, which when put together with the Phantom Fusion Wheel makes a grin or face.

×4d fusion wheel×

• Phantom's Metal Frame is a wide and circular Wheel with a large circular hole for the Core to fit into place. It is very thick and has a smooth rounded outer side with four blue spheres. These blue spheres represent the Orion constellation, and are put in a manner that resembles it. On the front, it showcases a devious grin with visible sharp teeth, and a nose that can be used with the Orion Energy Ring eye stickers, to create the grinning face. It can also be flipped over to switch from Stamina Mode to Attack Mode, but Stamina Mode is recommended. The beys metal frame also has potential in attack mode which ties up to Fang leones counter attack mode. So this bey is great for stamina and attack.

• The Core is a translucent purple made of complete plastic, which makes this a PC Core of some sort. Due to this, it provides the least amount of weight from the center, allowing for maximum Stamina potential. Because the Metal Frame is a smooth metal outer side of the Wheel, it allows it to focus all of the weight on to the outer-side of the Wheel. This gives it the best Stamina it can achieve. In design, the Core resembles somewhat of a miniature version of Scythe and being round as a whole. Although initially, it was assumed that B:D was the cause of Phantom Orion's superb Stamina, after testing this was proven to be true but not completely. Phantom, along with B:D, was the cause of its amazing Stamina due to its Core, which focuses weight onto the outer-side of the Wheel. In addition, Phantom does carry resemblances to Burn.

•In that, the Metal Frame mimics that of the two bumpy indents on Burn's sides and that the weight is focused to the outer-side of the Wheel. It is even heavier than Burn with the metal frame alone, but Phantom does a better job at its weight distribution on the outer-side, especially with the weight increase. In Stamina Mode, the blue spheres from the blue, plastic Core as well as the Orion "face" are visible. In Attack Mode, they are not and the Wheel is more detailed with a hexagonal-shape and a multitude of protrusions and small indents that stick out for Attack potentials

×4d performance tip×

• Bearing Drive (B:D) can be considered as the 4D version of Wolborg's MS' Bearing Core (B:C) from HMS, except wider and a translucent yellow in color. This Tip features ball bearings inside which help stabilize the Beyblade, helping especially with Stamina-Types. It is about the same height as 230 without a performance tip. The ball bearings inside the center of this 4D Performance Tip, allows some weight to be focused lower for the gravity to keep the Beys stable, and this also helps with its spin time. When the Bey tilts onto its side, when it's low on spin, the base makes contact with the Stadium floor, and completely stops, then the ball bearings reduce the friction of the main shaft and the tip of the 4D Performance Tip; this allows it to carry on rotating while it has very low spin. The tip is also free-spinning, contributing to B:D's amazing Stamina and is known to have extremely good balance.

•All Stamina tips (even EWD and WD) move around the stadium when off balance, losing more and more Stamina. This does not apply to B:D because it doesn't even move when knocked off balance: it just continues to spin in a titled position in one place, waiting for the opponent to knock it back on balance, or regains balance over a short period of time. Overall, B:D has proven to be a very great Tip. It theoretically has more defense than WD due to the base being wider than WD. Although, some variants have been having trouble reaching the seven minute mark (usually four, five and even two minutes), this should not be taken as a worry as it can simply be fixed by being broken in (or by using WD-40/Silicon Lubricant). B:D has excellent use in Stamina-Type customizations and should be considered by all as the best Stamina Tip ever. However, you'll have to be careful with this tip because they break very easily. It has broken the Beyblade world spin record at 7:12 minutes, but however it broke its own record, and its new record is 7:35 minutes. This is the best Stamina Performance Tip since Phantom Orion can take a lot of critical hits without getting affected a lot. It has even better stamina when paired with the Phantom Wheel. It is similar to the AS performance tip from Sol Blaze V145AS.

×notes about phantom orion×

• In the anime, B:D actually allows Phantom Orion to spin forever due to "zero friction". Even if it´s bottom would have zero friction there would still be some friction between the Bey and the air which means that even if it would have Zero Friction with the Stadium Floor it would still have friction with the air which makes it impossible to spin for ever. Even in a vacuum it would still loose it´s spin after a while.

• In the anime, the Phantom Wheel's change in appearance was due to a transformation when Chris awakened as a Legendary Blader rather than a mode change. There is a lot of controversy about this.

• B:D is the 1st and the only 4D Bottom that doesn't have a Mode Change.

• Phantom Orion is the first Beyblade with a completely plastic core.
