Invändigt trä i normalskick. Stor grundskada, båda aktre tvärgående stuvskotten losslitna.

Review of Albin 78 Cirrus
Basic specs..
The hull is made of fibreglass. Generally, a hull made of fibreglass requires only a minimum of maintenance during the sailing season. And outside the sailing season, just bottom cleaning and perhaps anti-fouling painting once a year - a few hours of work, that's all.
The boat is equipped with 5 berths, a galley and toilet facility.
The boat equipped with a fractional rig. A fractional rig has smaller headsails which make tacking easier, which is an advantage for cruisers and racers, of course. The downside is that having the wind from behind often requires a genaker or a spinnaker for optimal speed.
The Albin 78 Cirrus is equipped with a fin keel. The fin keel is the most common keel and provides splendid manoeuvrability. The downside is that it has less directional stability than a long keel.
The keel is made of iron. Many people prefer lead keel in favour of iron. The main argument is that lead is much heavier than iron and a lead keel can therefore be made smaller which again result in less wet surface, i.e. less drag. In fact iron is quite heavy, just 30% less heavy than lead, so the advantage of a lead keel is often overstated. As the surface of a fin type keel is just a fraction of the total wet surface, the difference between an iron keel and a lead keel can in reality be ignored for cruising yachts.
The boat can enter even shallow marinas as the draft is just about 1.49 - 1.59 meter (4.89 - 5.19 ft) dependent on the load. See immersion rate below.
Albin 78 Cirrus is typically equipped with an inboard Volvo Penta MD5 diesel engine at 7.0 hp (5 kW), which gives a max speed about 4.0 knots.
The transmission is a saildrive.
Sailing characteristics
This section covers widely used rules of thumb to describe the sailing characteristics. Please note that even though the calculations are correct, the interpretation of the results might not be valid for extreme boats.
What is Capsize Screening Formula (CSF)?
The capsize screening value for Albin 78 Cirrus is 2.10, indicating that this boat would not be accepted to participate in ocean races.
What is Theoretical Maximum Hull Speed?
The theoretical maximal speed of a displacement boat of this length is 6.3 knots. The term "Theoretical Maximum Hull Speed" is widely used even though a boat can sail faster. The term shall be interpreted as above the theoretical speed a great additional power is necessary for a small gain in speed.
The immersion rate is defined as the weight required to sink the boat a certain level. The immersion rate for Albin 78 Cirrus is about 123 kg/cm, alternatively 691 lbs/inch. Meaning: if you load 123 kg cargo on the boat then it will sink 1 cm. Alternatively, if you load 691 lbs cargo on the boat it will sink 1 inch.

Maintenance
When buying anti-fouling bottom paint, it's nice to know how much to buy. The surface of the wet bottom is about 21m 2 (226 ft 2 ). Based on this, your favourite maritime shop can tell you the quantity you need.

It was an Albin that did a solo journey around the Americas. About the Challenge | Solo Around the America's Under Sail
Mr. Robert Perry owned an Albin 78 (Cirrus), a similar Norlin model. He may have some better, more specific info on these boats than I can give. Our Ballad is certainly from the same stable & design philosophy, but it is perhaps more cruiser/racer than racer/cruiser. Early IOR, while the 78 & 79 were later. I was apparently wrong to equate the 79 with the Accent -- many sites cross-list them as the same boat, but the numbers on Sailboatdata are quite different. 79 is lighter, with a better ballast ratio and better D/L and SA/D numbers than the Accent. My bad -- sorry.
Purchased new and sailed hull #75 for four years including offshore and 3 months live aboard in Bahamas. Wonderful boar, very fast in light air with good headsails. Not tender, nor crowded with 3 crew. I saw no signs of skimping in construction at all. Diesel fits through front hatch, great access for service. Nothing like her built today.

LENGTH: Traditionally, LOA (length over all) equaled hull length. Today, many builders use LOA to include rail overhangs, bowsprits, etc. and LOD (length on deck) for hull length. That said, LOA may still mean LOD if the builder is being honest and using accepted industry standards developed by groups like the ABYC (American Boat and Yacht Council).
