Disney’s Beach Club vs Yacht Club: Which Should You Choose?

One of the best parts of planning a family vacation to Walt Disney World near Orlando, Florida , is choosing where to stay.

Disney owns and operates more than 20 resorts and other accommodations on their central Florida property, in addition to the dozens of others nearby.

If Disney’s Beach Club Resort and Disney’s Yacht Club Resort are among your options, you might be wondering which is better. After all, they’re located directly next door to each other, and the theming is similar. 

Despite having much in common, these two hotels have some key differences that make them distinct. Below, we’ll talk about the perks of staying in one of Disney’s hotels and what the Yacht and Beach Clubs have in common. Then, we’ll dive into what makes them distinct. That way, you can make the best choice for your family vacation.

Early Genie+ Access

Transportation, on-site guest relations, deluxe resorts, the skyliner, the boardwalk, room accommodations, entertainment and recreation, disney vacation club villas, recreation and entertainment, convention center, which should you choose: disney’s beach club or yacht club, perks of staying in a walt disney world hotel.

Experienced Disney vacationers will tell you that staying “on-property” has many advantages that can help you get the most out of your time in the most magical place on earth.

Each day, the four theme parks in Walt Disney World– Magic Kingdom , EPCOT , Hollywood Studios , and Animal Kingdom –open 30 minutes early for resort guests. That means you can get to the park in the morning and head to a couple of your favorite attractions without worrying about crowds.

At times in the past, Disney had offered “Extra Magic Hours” when parks opened even earlier or stayed open late in the evening for resort guests. While Disney isn’t offering them now, it certainly could return in the future.

Genie+ is the paid reservation system that allows guests to reserve times to visit top attractions. Time slots become available to park guests when the park opens for the day. 

However, guests with resort reservations linked to their accounts can make their first selections at 7 AM. That’s a distinct advantage over everyone else. What’s more, reservations for some of the most popular rides sometimes go quick.

Disney provides regular, reliable transportation from all of its hotels to its four theme parks, two water parks, and Disney Springs shopping and entertainment district. Buses run to each destination from every hotel about every 30 minutes.

In addition, there are boats and water taxis, the Skyliner gondola system, the monorail, and walking trails from several resorts. Below, we’ll talk about what’s available at the Yacht and Beach Clubs.

An often-overlooked advantage of staying at a Disney hotel is on-site guest relations. You can visit this desk to take care of a range of questions and issues before visiting the parks. You can purchase or verify tickets, make and confirm park and dining reservations, and schedule tours and special events.

Of course, guest relations is available at the entrance to all theme parks and water parks. However, there can be long lines, especially at the beginning of the day. What’s more, visiting the desk in the park takes away from your time enjoying attractions.  

What Do the Yacht and Beach Clubs Have in Common?

If you’ve done your research, you may already know that the Yacht and Beach Clubs are next to each other. They’re also often discussed together since they share so many amenities and features. 

Before we discuss what makes them unique so you can choose between them, it’s helpful to look at what they share. That way, you can get a total picture of what it would be like to spend your family vacation there.

Both the Beach Club and Yacht Club are Disney Deluxe Resorts . This is the top tier of hotels on Disney property, ahead of value resorts like Art of Animation and All-Star Sports and moderate resorts such as Coronado Springs and Port Orleans Riverside.

As you might expect, deluxe resorts have the best of everything. The rooms tend to be larger, the hotel lobbies and fixtures more opulent, and the theming is more detailed. There are better pools (with slides), more amenities (such as spas and shops), and more dining options.

Deluxe resorts have several unique features and perks. Sometimes, Disney parks stay open late for guests of deluxe resorts. They tend to have great locations with better access to the parks and transportation options. Of course, it all comes at a price. Deluxe resorts start at around $450 and increase sharply from there. 

The location is one of the best things about staying at the Yacht or Beach Club. They are two of the three resorts located directly near EPCOT. 

If you enjoy the thrilling attractions in Future World or a leisurely stroll through the World Showcase, you might like the Yacht and Beach Clubs even more than the Magic Kingdom monorail hotels–The Grand Floridian, Polynesian Village, and the Contemporary.

Let’s zoom in on the three things that make this location spectacular.

The Yacht and Beach Clubs are about a ten or 15-minute walk from EPCOT . One of four theme parks in Walt Disney World, EPCOT has so much to offer. It’s split into two major worlds, and they almost feel like two separate worlds.

Future World has some of the most thrilling attractions in any of the parks, including Soarin’ , Test Track , and the brand new Guardians of the Galaxy roller coaster, Cosmic Rewind . 

Then, there’s the World Showcase, with pavilions from 11 countries around the world. Sample food, drink, merchandise, and culture without leaving central Florida.

The new Skyliner transportation system is just before you reach the World Gateway entrance to EPCOT. The Skyliner is a gondola system that connects several popular spots around the “world,” including Hollywood Studios, Riviera Resort, and several other hotels.

The Skyliner has revolutionized how people get around Walt Disney World. Many guests hated waiting for and riding buses to and from the parks, but the Skyliner has turned that experience into a ride in itself.

Guests at the Yacht and Beach Club can easily walk to the Skyliner. The Beach Club is a bit closer, but it only takes about ten minutes from the Yacht Club lobby.

The Boardwalk Hotel is on the same walking trail as the Yacht and Beach Club. In addition to the hotel is the Boardwalk entertainment area. While it’s much smaller than Disney Springs, you can find shops, restaurants, and entertainment. 

One of the Boardwalk’s favorites is Jelly Rolls, a dueling piano bar. The Atlantic Dance Hall opens nightly for drinks and dancing.

Most room accommodations at the Yacht and Beach Club are the same. Standard rooms include one king or two queen beds, and some have a pull-down bed under the television. 

Daily housekeeping is included, and guests can choose from water, pool, and garden views. In addition, both hotels have suites and a club or concierge level.

The best part of staying at the Yacht or Beach Club is arguably the main pool. The most popular on Disney property, Stormalong Bay encompasses three acres of space. There’s a lazy river, three whirlpool spas, and a life-size replica of a shipwreck with a 230-foot waterslide. It’s partially sand-bottom, and there’s a sandy beach to play on.

If you prefer a quieter poolside experience, there are three more leisure pools for use by guests at the Beach and Yacht Clubs: the Admiral Pool, Dunes Cove, and the Tidal Pool. All three have whirlpool spas and other amenities.

The Yacht and Beach Club share transportation, and the great news is how easy it is to get around Walt Disney World from both of these hotels.

The bus stop is located outside the main lobby of the Yacht Club. Buses run about every 30 minutes to the parks, water parks, and Disney Springs. The bus is the best way to get to Animal Kingdom, Disney Springs, and the Magic Kingdom.

There is also a boat launch behind the lobby of the Yacht Club on Crescent Lake. The boats take guests to EPCOT and Hollywood Studios and are a leisurely way to get to both parks.

As mentioned above, the Skyliner is about a ten-minute walk from the Yacht and Beach Clubs. The Skyliner takes guests to Hollywood Studios and is the fastest way to get there. 

We mentioned walking into EPCOT from these resorts, but you can also walk to Hollywood Studios. The path winds for about one mile around the water.

Finally, while the Yacht and Beach Clubs aren’t located on the monorail, you can access the monorail through EPCOT. You will need a theme park reservation at EPCOT or a park hopper ticket (useable after 2 PM) to access the monorail. However, it can take you to the Magic Kingdom.

The two resorts also share much of the same entertainment and recreation options. Moreover, guests at either hotel are almost always welcome to use amenities at the other one.

The resorts jointly host nightly campfires (weather permitting) and movies under the stars (indoors in inclement weather). There are tennis courts, volleyball courts, jogging trails, arcades, boat rentals, and fishing. There’s also a full fitness center and salon at Ship Shape Massage Salon Fitness. 

What Makes Disney’s Beach Club Different?

Now that you know all the things that Disney’s Yacht and Beach Clubs share, we can look at meaningful ways that they differ. 

One of them is written right into their names. Even though the themes at the resorts are similar, they are distinct from each other. The Beach Club is reminiscent of classic Atlantic and New Jersey seaside resorts around the turn of the 20th century. 

It’s bright and cheerful, with light pastel colors throughout. You’ll notice elements of gingerbread-style and Victorian architecture, almost like an upscale beach cottage. The atmosphere is designed to be more relaxed and calming.

There are several other important ways that the two hotels differ. Here’s what’s unique to the Beach Club.

One thing that makes the Beach Club distinct is the presence of Disney Vacation Club villas. Disney Vacation Club is a vacation ownership company that sells timeshares in select Disney resorts worldwide. It also offers exceptional experiences, excursions, and reciprocity with RCI for members in good standing to use their annual allotment of points.

There are only 282 villas at the Beach Club, making it among the smallest in the collection. There are studios with kitchenettes and one, two, and three-bedroom villas with full kitchens.

You don’t need to be a DVC member to book the villas. In fact, many non-members love the villas for family reunions and space to spread out. They typically cost more than standard rooms per night.

You don’t have to be a guest at the Beach Club to dine in any of its restaurants. Anyone can make a reservation or drop in for table availability, but guests of this resort will be closer and find it easier to eat at these.

Cape May Cafe is a popular buffet spot for breakfast and dinner. Beaches and Cream Soda Shop has diner offerings for lunch and dinner and is known for its incredible ice cream. Martha’s Vineyard serves lunch but is best known for its bar service and wine selection. Finally, the Beach Club Marketplace offers counter-service and grab-and-go dining options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. 

Some guests prefer the Beach Club’s location because it is closer to EPCOT and the Skyliner. It takes about five or ten more minutes to get there from the Yacht Club, depending on where your room is situated. However, most of the rooms at the Yacht Club are closer to Stormalong Bay than at the Beach Club.

Even though guests of either resort can use all the amenities, it’s worth mentioning the ones that are located at the Beach Club:

• Dunes Cove Pool
• Volleyball courts

What Makes the Yacht Club Different?

Several elements distinguish the Yacht Club from the Beach Club, and the first is the theme. While the Beach Club is designed to look and feel like a relaxed yet refined seaside resort, the Yacht Club is more stately.

The Yacht Club is reminiscent of a grand, exclusive New England yachting or boating resort, visited by titans of industry, politicians, and some of the oldest families in America. It is elegant, plush, and nautical. In contrast to the whimsical pastels at the Beach Club, you’ll see dark blues and wood tones against white finishes. 

Perhaps because of the prestige, the Yacht Club’s prices tend to be slightly higher than the Beach Club’s, though not substantially. The rooms at both resorts follow their themes but are around the same size.

While the Beach Club has Disney Vacation Club villas, the Yacht Club has a convention center, which frequently contributes to the more formal atmosphere at the Yacht Club. In fact, the resort itself was designed to host conventions, and its setup is conducive to that.

The convention center has more than 100,000 square feet of flexible meeting and event space. The hotel has almost 2,000 guest rooms, most of which are standard. Nearly 140 are located on the club level, perfect for executives. Couples also often hold weddings at the Yacht Club, and the nearby wedding gazebo is a convenient ceremony space. 

There are several dining options at the Yacht Club, and true to its theme, most of them are more formal than the ones you’ll find at the Beach Club. The main restaurant is the Yachtsman’s Steakhouse , a traditional New England steakhouse. It is one of the more formal restaurants in Walt Disney World and is only open for dinner. 

In addition, the less-formal Ale and Compass restaurant is a gastropub serving Yankee comfort food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The Marketplace at Ale and Compass offers counter-service and grab-and-go dining options.

Finally, two bars offer drinks and light snacks: the Ale and Compass Lounge and the Crew’s Cup Lounge. 

These are the recreation and amenities offered at the Yacht Club:

If you plan to spend the bulk of your Florida vacation in Walt Disney World, we strongly recommend staying at a Disney hotel for all the reasons discussed above. But which is better–the Beach Club or Yacht Club?

As you can see, Disney’s Beach Club Resort and Yacht Club Resort have a lot in common and share many of the same amenities and perks. However, they have distinct themes that create different atmospheres. The Beach Club is more relaxed and refined, while the Yacht Club is more stately and elegant.

Regardless of where you and your family decide to stay, the most important thing is that you enjoy your time together at Walt Disney World. And don’t forget to check out Stormalong Bay–it’s the best part of either hotel!

Disney’s Yacht Club opened back on November 5, 1990. Its sister location is the Beach Club located right next to it. The Yacht Club is a beautifully themed resort with nautical and beach themes. We are going to tell you everything you need to know about this wonderful resort in our Ultimate Disney Yacht Club Review + Insider Tips! 

There are so many great aspects to this resort such as its location, pools, transportation options, and amenities. If you are thinking about staying at the Yacht Club, read on to find out if this resort is a good fit for you!

Where Is The Yacht Club At Disney Located?

One of the best reasons to stay at Disney’s Yacht Club is the fantastic location! This resort is within walking distance to Epcot and Hollywood Studios . There are also several different transportation options to all of the parks, Disney Springs , and the water parks .

The Yacht Club is directly next to the Beach Club, and they share the pool. Now you not only have access to all of the Yacht Club’s restaurants and amenities, but you also have access to the Beach Club’s! 

The Yacht and Beach Club are right across the water from Disney’s Boardwalk Resort . It is a short walk away to enjoy everything the Boardwalk has to offer! There are some fun restaurants, bars, and shops to explore there.

The Yacht Club is also very close to the Swan and Dolphin Hotels. There is a pathway to take you right over to these hotels for some extra fun as well! 

Not only are there other resorts within walking distance of the Yacht Club, but there are also resorts that are a quick Skyliner trip away! Taking the Skyliner from Epcot’s International Gateway, you can visit Disney’s Riviera Resort, Caribbean Beach Resort, Pop Century , and Art of Animation! 

Disney’s Yacht Club is in a very prime location with quick access to two of the parks and multiple resorts!

Checking in to The Yacht Club At Disney

Checking into the Yacht Club is extremely easy, and it doesn’t even require you to visit the front desk! The day of your reservation, you can check in to the resort from the My Disney Experience app . The app will let you know when your room is ready and what your room number will be! If you have magic bands or even your phone , you can head straight to your room and unlock the door. 

Of course, you can always go the old school route and check-in at the front desk. All the cast members at Disney’s Yacht Club are extremely friendly and accommodating! A great tip to keep in mind is you can always see if there are any upgrades available for your room. We were able to get a free upgrade from a standard view to a water view! 

The lobby is also absolutely amazing here. It has a very adventurous and nautical theme to it. You can find everything you need right in this area, such as the restaurant, lounge, bell services, and the front desk. 

Right outside the backside of the lobby, there is a boardwalk that will lead you to the boat transportation to Epcot and Hollywood Studios.

Transportation Options From The Yacht Club

We love all of the transportation options the Yacht Club has to offer, and we’re sure you will too! As mentioned before, there are walking paths to Epcot and Hollywood Studios. The Epcot walking path is very short and will get you to the International Gateway in about 5 – 10 minutes. The entrance at International Gateway is on the back side of Epcot by World Showcase . 

The walking path to Hollywood Studios is a little bit longer than the Epcot one. This one can take 20 minutes or more. However, there is boat transportation to Hollywood Studios if you don’t want to walk! You can find boat transportation right behind the lobby that will take you to Epcot or Hollywood Studios. 

If you don’t want to walk or take the boat to Hollywood Studios, you can always take the Skyliner! There is a Skyliner location right outside International Gateway that will take you first to Disney’s Riviera Resort, and then to the Skyliner central hub at Caribbean Beach Resort. From here you will get off the Skyliner and get in line for a different Skyliner track to take you to Hollywood Studios. 

So there are so many options to get to Epcot and Hollywood Studios, but what about the other parks? Disney has bus transportation from the Yacht Club to Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Disney Spring, and the water parks. 

If you plan on spending a lot of time at either Epcot or Hollywood Studios, the Yacht Club is one of the best resorts to stay at.

Disney Yacht Club Room Review

There are several different room options at the Yacht Club. There is Standard View, Water View, Garden or Woods View, and 2 Bedroom Suites. All of the view rooms also have club level options. 

I was able to stay in a Water View room. The room was absolutely delightful! It had a nautical theme to match the rest of the resort, and it was quite spacious. The room had two queen beds and a pull out couch, so it was able to sleep up to 5 guests. We only had 4 guests in our room, but I could imagine the pull out bed might make the room feel a little more cramped.

The room had large closets with space to hang clothes, and a big sink and bathroom area with two sinks. The shower had a sliding glass door, which I prefer over a curtain. 

I really liked that this room had wood flooring compared to carpet. It added to the nautical theme very well. The room also had a balcony that looked over the back entrance of the lobby and the water. Overall, the room was very nice, and I thoroughly enjoyed its set up! 

Yacht Club rooms average in price anywhere between $400 to over $3000 per night depending on what room you stay in and what time of the year you visit. 

Dining Options At The Yacht Club

There are some really great and delicious dining options at the Yacht Club. This resort has two restaurants, two lounges, a quick service restaurant, a restaurant located in between the Yacht and Beach Club, and a pool bar. 

The two restaurants at the Yacht Club are Ale & Compass and Yachtsman Steakhouse. Yachtsman Steakhouse is currently temporarily unavailable, but Ale & Compass is open for breakfast and dinner. This restaurant follows the nautical theme with a relaxing atmosphere and some delicious coastal eats. 

The Ale & Compass Lounge is located adjacent to the restaurant. Here, you can order off the lounge menu and even the restaurant menu. This lounge can fill up quickly at night though, so make sure to grab a seat early if you want to eat or drink here.

The other lounge, Crew’s Cup Lounge,  is right next to Yachtsman Steakhouse and is also temporarily unavailable. We hope that the lounge and restaurant will open soon! 

The quick service location shares a spot with the Yacht Club’s gift shop. When you enter the Market at Ale & Compass, on the right is the gift shop and on the left is the quick service restaurant. They serve coffee, sandwiches, pastries, and more. This is a great place to stop for a quick bite to eat to or from the parks! 

Beaches and Cream Soda Shop is the hidden gem of the Yacht and Beach Club Resorts! This restaurant is located in between the two resorts and serves some wonderful food! They are open for lunch and dinner and they serve sandwiches and burgers. My favorite is their Grilled Cheese sandwich, its delicious! 

However, save room for the best part of this restaurant. The ice cream! They have shakes, floats, and sundaes! You can’t go wrong with whatever you choose. If you’re feeling really brave though, try the Kitchen Sink sundae. This sundae is meant for 4 or more people, and includes every topping and a whole can of whipped cream! I have attempted it twice, and I still haven’t been able to finish it. Maybe you can! 

Hurricane Hanna’s Grill is the pool bar located right next to Stormalong Bay. They have a few food items and some refreshing drinks. 

If you’ve tried everything at the Yacht Club and want something different, head over to the Beach Club! Here you can find even more restaurants and tasty eats!

Yacht Club Swimming Pools

The Yacht and Beach Club have hands down the best swimming pools on Disney World property. It’s considered more of a small water park than swimming pools because it’s so large! 

Stormalong Bay is 3 acres of refreshing fun! It includes a large sand bottomed pool and a lazy river. There are waterfalls, a volleyball net in the pool, and a water slide. 

This water slide is no joke. You climb a large shipwrecked ship all the way to the top and then slide down this long and exciting slide! Stormalong Bay even has a “beach” area with sand to play with! After all that fun, go relax in one of 3 whirlpool spas.

Right by the entrance to the water slide is a small kid play area with a mini water slide. This is a great introduction to the big slide for nervous kids! 

Don’t need all the excitement of Stormalong Bay? There are also 3 leisure pools at the Yacht and Beach Club for guests to enjoy.

If you plan on staying at the Yacht Club, you must plan a resort day into your schedule! Make some time for this awesome mini water park and relax away from the parks! You won’t regret it. 

Amenities At The Yacht Club Resort

There are so many fun amenities and things to do at Disney’s Yacht Club. When it comes to activities, there are fishing excursions, a tennis court, a sand volleyball court, jogging trails, motorized boat rentals, an arcade, and a fitness center. Just ask the front desk if you’d like to book a fishing excursion or rent a boat to go out on the water! 

The Yacht Club even has a spa! Ship Shape Massage Salon is a full service spa that can do massages, facials, hairstyling, and nails. We all need a relaxing day every once and awhile! Why not enjoy the spa on your day off from the parks?

The resort also has campfire activities, movies under the stars, and a Pirate Adventure Cruise (which is unfortunately temporarily unavailable at the moment). The Yacht Club is within walking distance of the Fantasia Gardens & Fairways Miniature Golf. Go show off your mini golf skills at this adorably themed course!

This resort really has a lot of fun things for you and your family to enjoy! You will definitely want to take a day away from the parks to enjoy this amazing resort! 

Overall Thoughts On Disney’s Yacht Club Resort

We at Disney Trippers absolutely love Disney’s Yacht Club Resort. The whole place is incredibly peaceful and beautiful. It has the perfect mix of being family friendly and adult friendly with lots of things to do. So whether you’re traveling with a bunch of adults or your kids, everyone will enjoy it! 

Most everything is in super close distance to this resort. The only time you will have to take the bus is to Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Disney Spring, or the water parks. The other parks and some resorts are really easy to get to, making this a top notch location for a resort.

If you have a day off from the parks, make sure to enjoy all of the amenities the Yacht Club has to offer. You could spend a whole day just having fun at the resort! You definitely don’t want to miss out on this place!

We stayed at the Disney Yacht Club the last time we were at DW. We loved it. The staff was outstanding. It was an adult family vacation, and due to different work schedules, some family members had to fly in at different times. The staff accommodated each one and made them feel as if they already knew them. We loved the location as we could walk to different locations. We tried the Kitchen Sink sundae, but couldn’t finish it. We sure had fun trying. We actually took one day to enjoy the resort and were not disappointed. We spent time in the swimming pool, which was amazing with the sand bottom. Lunch was an delicious lobster roll and we finished off at the steakhouse. I would certainly recommend this resort to all who are considering a trip to Disney World.

Rivera vs yacht club

We are planning couple only trip March 2021 . We are debating between new Rivera resort and yacht club. Any suggestions?

I haven’t stayed at the Riviera, but we do love the YC. What are the ages in your party? It’s quiet there, which we really appreciated with older kids/young adults. The pool is excellent, of course, and the proximity to two parks can’t be beat. We would have stayed there last May but wanted a bigger room which we could find across the lake at the BWI.

Also, they allow pets, if that makes a difference.

Would the Riviera room be a studio? What is the difference in cost? I know Riviera is beautiful but I would pick YC.

If the pool isn’t a deal breaker for you, I would pick Riveria. With the skyliner, getting to two parks is just as easy as walking from Yacht. I also think the quick serve at Riveria is better and the rooms are spacious and beautiful.

A Guide to Disney World Resorts

With so many choices, we thought it would be helpful to do a comparison of Disney World resorts. Hopefully, this Disney resort guide will help you choose the best in-park hotel for your family vacation.

To start with, Disney classifies its resorts into three basic categories—Value, Moderate, and Deluxe.

There are also a number of Disney Vacation Club Villas and even campsites.

Disney World’s resort hotels are found in five specific regions of the park – the Magic Kingdom Resort Area, the Epcot Resort Area, the Animal Kingdom Resort Area, the Wide World of Sports Resort Area, or the Disney Springs Resort area.

All of Disney’s Deluxe resorts have earned a AAA Four-Diamond rating, but the Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is considered by Disney as their highest-tier, luxury flagship resort.

As you may have guessed, Disney’s Value Resorts are geared towards families on a budget and offer fun and fully-adequate in-park accommodations.

Disney’s Moderate Resorts fall somewhere between Value and Deluxe in terms of cost, room size, transportation options, and other amenities.

With that background information out of the way, then let’s now review the hotel properties in greater detail with this Disney World Resort Comparison guide.

Yacht Club Highlights:

• Great location! The Yacht Club is walking distance to Epcot and Hollywood Studios (which is also easily accessible by boat or Skyliner.)
• Stormalong Bay! This gorgeous water complex includes a sand bottom pool, pirate slide, and lazy river.
• A diner’s paradise! In addition to two theme parks, the Yacht Club is also walking distance to the Beach Club, Boardwalk Inn, and Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin. Being so close to four additional deluxe resorts provides extensive dining and entertainment options.

What is the Yacht Club like?

The Yacht Club (YC) is a five-story, 630 room resort, slightly larger than its sister resort, the Beach Club (BC), located along the shore of Crescent Lake, opposite the Boardwalk Resort . Themed after seaside New England hotels of the late 1800s, the Yacht Club has a stately, nautical look and feel; hardwood floors and brass accents enhance this feeling. Guests staying at both the Yacht Club and Beach Club have the exclusive use of Stormalong Bay, a 750,000 gallon pool/mini-water park complete with water slide, sandy bottom, whirlpools, and water currents.

Why stay at the Yacht Club?

Three very important reasons: Location, Location, Location. The Yacht Club is one of the most conveniently located resorts on Disney’s property. The Yacht Club is within walking distance of Epcot, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, the Boardwalk, the Swan, and the Dolphin hotels. If you don’t feel like walking you can choose a short boat ride to any of these places instead.

If you like fine dining, you will be in the center of it all. Not only do the Yacht Club, Beach Club, and Boardwalk all have terrific choices, you are also just minutes away from the international flavor of Epcot’s World Showcase. If you like to swim, one of the best hotel pools, Stormalong Bay, is right under your nose. There are several other recreational activities available at the Yacht Club (described below).

Transportation – How do I get there from here?

• EPCOT – EPCOT can be easily reached by foot via a short 10-minute walk along the water way leading to Epcot’s International Gateway. If walking isn’t for you, there is a boat to ferry guests from all the Epcot resorts (Swan, Dolphin, Boardwalk, Yacht Club, and Beach Club) to the International Gateway, but the walk is faster and a bit more scenic. To board the boat, simply exit the lobby on the rear side of the hotel and walk straight down to the dock – just look for the lighthouse. Be sure you’re in the Epcot line (left side facing the water), not Disney’s Hollywood Studios line (right side facing the water) line.Epcot resort guests CAN use the International Gateway entrance to Epcot even though World Showcase may not yet be open for the day. Cast members will help usher you toward Future World in Epcot. The International Gateway also offers full-service ticketing and purchasing of annual passes. The guest services window usually opens 30 minutes prior to park opening.

• You can take a leisurely 15 to 20 minute one-mile stroll along the path that follows the waterway connecting the Epcot resort area with the Hollywood Studios.
• Take the Friendship boat f rom the right side of the boat dock. You can meet the boat at the dock just as you would the boat for Epcot, by exiting the rear of the hotel and walking straight down to the lighthouse. Again, make sure you catch the right boat. The CMs will surely let you know which boat you’re getting on. The boat usually stops by the Swan and Dolphin and Boardwalk via the Studios. The trip takes about 20 minutes.
• Take the Disney Skyliner. Walk to International Gateway and climb aboard the most Magical Flight on Earth! You will need to transfer to the Disney’s Hollywood Studios at the Caribbean Beach Station.

• Magic Kingdom – The Magic Kingdom can be reached by taking a bus from the front of the hotel. Another longer, but more scenic, journey is to take the monorail from Epcot’s front entrance, transfer at the TTC, and then continue to the MK. Traveling this way does take some time and some walking, but you get to see a little bit more, and it lends to resort hopping if the mood strikes. Keep in mind this route will likely taste at least an hour.
• Disney’s Animal Kingdom – Disney’s Animal Kingdom can be reached by taking a bus from the front of the hotel.

• Typhoon Lagoon, Blizzard Beach, and Disney Springs – Buses take you directly from the hotel to these locations after picking up passengers from the Beach Club and Boardwalk Inn. Travel times vary to each of these locations, but many of these attractions are relatively close to the Yacht Club, so you never have to wait too long.

Note that when using the buses, they will usually stop at the Beach Club; however sometimes it will also stop at the Boardwalk, the Swan and the Dolphin resorts. The tends to happen during the middle of the day or during low crowd times.

• Disney’s Boardwalk – The Boardwalk faces the Yacht and Beach Clubs on the opposite side of Crescent Lake. There are two foot bridges, one in the direction of the Swan/Dolphin hotels, and one in the direction of Epcot, allowing you to walk to this entertainment complex and hotel.
• For all other locations, including Fort Wilderness , and resort hotels, buses to Disney Springs will allow you to connect with other transportation to your final destination. You can also take the monorail from the Future World side of Epcot to reach the TTC. Travel times vary widely here. You can time it just right and have a short, efficient trip, or have a trip lasting over  an hour. Hope for the best! Hint: When in a hurry, it usually takes only 5 minutes to get a taxi. Go to the valet station at the front of the Yacht Club and they will call a taxi for you. Trips to destinations on property range in cost from $16 to $24. For example, the typical taxi fare from the Yacht Club to the Grand Floridian costs about $20 (not including tip). It’s usually significantly cheaper to take a Rideshare such as an Uber or Lyft from the front of the Yacht Club to anywhere on property.

What are the rooms like?

Most rooms feature two queen-size beds, a table and chairs, color TV w/remote, a ceiling fan, double sinks in the dressing area, and refrigerator. Some rooms have a daybed that will accommodate the maximum 5 guests allowed per room at the Yacht Club. There are also pet friendly rooms. Of the 539 regular guest rooms at the Yacht Club, 483 rooms have queen-sized beds, 56 rooms have king-sized beds, and there are 10 disabled access rooms. Most rooms have a balcony that have a table and two chairs. Standard Rooms are for all guests, including Concierge Club. Deluxe rooms are larger and are only available on the Concierge level.

The rooms at the Yacht Club have been thoughtfully stocked with many extras. Rooms have a small safe, located in the closet, in which you can store your valuables such as jewelry, airline tickets, passports, travelers’ checks, etc. For bigger items, storage facilities may be available at the front desk.

Another nice feature is having the bathtub/toilet separated from the rest of the room. The double sinks are located outside the true “bathroom.” In the vanity area, you will find a hair dryer, as well as a make-up mirror mounted on the wall.

The Yacht Club does have a Club Level and club-level/service rooms. All Club Level rooms are located on the hotel’s 5th floor, which requires your Magic Band to gain entry from the elevator. There are 71 concierge suites and 20 “true” suites in a variety of sizes. See the Concierge page for more information about the concierge level.

A room with a view, but which one?

There are three views available: The Standard view, the Garden or Woods view, and the Lagoon or pool view.

Standard view rooms overlook the garden, rooftop or parking areas around the hotel. Garden or Woods view rooms typically overlook the slightly nicer areas around the quiet pool, or even the wedding gazebo. Lagoon or pool view rooms have a direct view of Crescent Lake and the Boardwalk. Some of the Lagoon or Pool view rooms are located just above Stormalong Bay and may be a bit noisy during the day. Note also that not all Lagoon or Pool view rooms offer a direct view of the lake and the Boardwalk. Many are at right angles to the lake, making it often difficult or impossible to see the Boardwalk. If you should book a Lagoon or Pool view room, don’t be disappointed if you don’t have a direct view of the lake.

Can I Bring My Pet to Stay at the Yacht Club?

Are there smoking and nonsmoking rooms?

All Disney resorts and guest rooms are smoke free . There are designated outdoor smoking areas. Check the resort map or with a Cast Member for locations.

What are the prices for a room?

The Yacht Club is considered a “Deluxe” resort hotel, and its prices are among the more expensive offered at Disney. These are regular rate prices and do not include the Florida Sales Tax nor the county resort tax. Most rooms have a maximum five-person occupancy per room. Prices are per room, and there is an additional adult charge of $25 per adult per night for more than two adults in a room.

Walt Disney World Resort rates vary by season (there are nine seasons now), and also by day of the week. The holiday season is the most expensive time of the year. It runs from mid-December to early January as well as during Easter Week.

Are there any discounts?

There are many ways to save a few dollars on your accommodations at WDW. Disney offers several resort “seasons” throughout the year including a Value Season. Annual Passholders can save by visiting during annual Passholder specials. Florida residents get a break for living in the same state as the Mouse. Don’t forget holidays are the most expensive time to visit, along with most of the summer. Generally, planning your trip during the off-season can save you money right off the bat.

I hear that there are no more room key cards at Disney resort hotels. How do I get into my room?

Walt Disney World has converted their room keys and admission tickets from plastic cards to MagicBands, flexible plastic wristbands, resembling a watch or bracelet, that use Radio Frequency (RF) technology. Your MagicBand is linked to your My Disney Experience (MDE) account and acts as your Disney resort room key. Simply touch the Mickey symbol on your MagicBand to the RFID reader near your room door to gain entry. Read about using MagicBands for park admission, FastPass+ and more.

How does Check-in and Check-Out work?

Online Check-in  is available through the My Disney Experience App. Look for the special Online Check-in line at the resort’s front desk.

Check-in is at 3pm. Upon arrival head to the front desk to check-in. Rooms are not guaranteed to be available until 3pm, but you can request Early Check-in when you do Online Check-in.

Check-out time is 11am .  Express Check-out  is available to all guests paying with a credit card, arrange for this service at check-in. A detailed hotel bill is delivered to your door by 7am. If the bill is correct you simply leave. Your Magic Band serves as a  Disney  souvenir. Late Check-out of noon can be requested without additional cost (very limited availability). If you need Late Check-out, request it at Check-In and as soon as possible the morning of check out (the number of eligible rooms are limited).

Resort Airline Check-In Service  at your Disney resort is only available if you are flying domestically (includes Puerto Rico) on specific airlines It is a complimentary (free) service and allows you to check your luggage.

Restaurants?

If you’re looking for good food while staying at the Yacht Club there is plenty to choose fom! The Yacht Club has two very good full service restaurants of its own, and a brief walk along Stormalong Bay will take you to the restaurants of the Beach Club. Additionally, room service is available 24 hours a day.

Ale & Compass — Serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner in a casual nautical atmosphere. Order a la carte morning meals from 7:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., or there is an all-you care-to-enjoy breakfast buffet from 7:30a.m. to 11:25a.m. Lunch is served from 11:30am to 2pm, and dinner is available from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Tables are almost always available during the day, but an Advance Reservation is recommended if possible.

Attached to the Ale & Compass Restaurant is the Ale & Compass Lounge. This is a full service cocktail lounge with specialty drinks and light bites.

Yachtsman Steakhouse – – This is the Yacht Club’s premier restaurant, serving tasty cuts of superbly aged beef, as well as poultry and seafood selections. An Advance Reservation is highly recommended for dinner. They are sometimes able to accommodate early (5:30-7:00) and late (9:00-9:45) walk up arrivals. A party of two is more likely to be seated more quickly than a party of six or more. Although this rule normally applies even to the busiest of seasons, there are no guarantees. Note that for this and other Signature Dining experiences, there is a dress code. Men should wear khakis, slacks, jeans or dress shorts and collared shirts. Women may wear Capri pants, skirts, dresses, jeans or dress shorts. No tank tops, swimsuits, cover ups, hats (for men), cut-offs, torn clothing or t-shirts with offensive language/graphics are allowed.

The Crew’s Cup , located near the Yachtsman Steakhouse, serves a multitude of beers, along with your favorite drinks and wines. Appetizers and finger foods are also available here, making the Crew’s Cup a nice place for lunch or a light evening meal.

For a Quick Service Meal, head to the Market at Ale & Compass . They are open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and offer a variety of made-to-order sandwiches, salads, and soups. The Market also has a selection of to-go options such as baked goods and pre-packaged sandwiches for a meal on the run!

Don’t forget right next door in the Beach Club is the Cape May Buffet , where you’ll find Goofy and friends for a breakfast buffet or a clambake dinner served family-style (buffet).Reservations are highly recommended.

Martha’s Vineyard is a lounge located at the Beach Club, that also serves appetizers, and is open in the evenings.

Also, shared between the YC and BC are two other dining locales, Beaches and Cream Soda Shop and Hurricane Hanna’s Grill.

• Beaches & Cream is open for lunch and dinner, and serves wonderful shakes and malts along with burgers and ice cream selections. Reservations are highly recommended!
• Hurricane Hanna’s  is located poolside at Stormalong Bay and specializes in great, quick eats such as hot dogs, hamburgers, sausages, and more.

What are Rapid Fill Mugs?

The Rapid Fill beverage program allows Disney Resort guests to buy (or receive as part of the Disney Dining Plan) a resort mug that can be refilled for a certain period of time as designated at time of purchase. These mugs are enhanced by an RFID bar code that enables the mug to deactivate when the designated time is complete.

I want to swim!

The Yacht Club has one of the best, if not the best swimming pools (at a hotel) in all of Walt Disney World. Stormalong Bay is a three-acre water playground shared between the Yacht Club and the Beach Club. It’s a great place to have fun or just relax. Stormalong Bay has many different sections that encompass its 750,000 gallons of water. There are shallow wading areas for the younger ones, complete with sand bottoms. There are also larger and deeper areas, some with sand, some without.

A “shipwreck” on the shore of Crescent Lake provides the entrance to an exciting water slide for the adventurous folks. There is a circular area in Stormalong Bay with water jets that create a current. All you have to do is float. the water will move you along! All around Stormalong Bay are lounge chairs where you can relax and catch some rays. Among other things, you’ll find a waterfall and a couple of hot tubs hidden amongst the scenery. Note, however, that life jackets cannot be worn when using the water slide. The water slide includes an enclosed tube and a child with a life jacket can get stuck. If your child requires the use of a life jacket, you can request to use the pool and slide at the Boardwalk Inn.

There is a quiet pool at the Yacht Club, found on the far end of the hotel away from the noise and excitement. The pool is located on the front/side of the hotel farthest from the Beach Club and closest to the Swan/Dolphin. There is also a hot tub in the same area as the quiet pool. These facilities are open 24 hours, as long as you are quiet! You can also use the quiet pool/hot tub on the Beach Club side of things. This pool is located on the back side of the Beach Club, closest to Epcot. You may see this area if you walk the path to Epcot. There is a third pool (and hot tub) located at the Beach Club Villas; guests of the Yacht Club are welcome to use it as well.

What other recreation is available at the Yacht Club?

Be sure to request the Recreational Activities flyer . There may be activities like Water Volleyball, Campfire Sing-along, or Movie Under the Stars.

If swimming isn’t for you, there are plenty of other activities available at the Yacht Club. Tennis is available on a lit court located by the Admiral Pool. Areas for volleyball and croquet are available on the Beach Club end of the twin hotel complex. Equipment is available free of charge from the Ship Shape Health Club.

Ship Shape Health Club is located between the Beach and Yacht Club resorts next to Lafferty Place Arcade is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Membership is free to Yacht Club resort guests for the length of their stay. Disney Vacation Club members may use the facilities free if they are staying at a Disney resort. Guests from other Disney resorts can use the facilities for $12/day, based on availability. Equipment includes Hammer Strength, Life Fitness, Cybex and aerobic machines, as well as a spa, steam room, sauna and massage therapy. Massages and facials are available by appointment only. Call (407) WDW-SPAS or (407) 939-7727 to book.

Jogging – Jogging route maps are available from Lobby Concierge (Guest Services) or from the Ship Shape Health Club.

Volleyball -A sand court is located on the Beach Club side of the complex. Equipment use is complimentary for BC/YC guests and is available from the Ship Shape Health Club.

Tennis – A lit court is located by the Admiral Pool, with complimentary tennis balls and racquets available from the Ship Shape Health Club.

Lafferty Place Arcade is located next to the Beaches and Cream Soda Shop.

Playground – Open 24 hours, it is located near Stormalong Bay.

Bayside Marina is located in a small building to the right of the pier (facing the lake) and services guests from both the Yacht Club and Beach Club daily from 11am to 5pm. Fantasia Gardens – is located across from the Swan/Dolphin hotels. Here you can enjoy mini-golf at its best… Disney style.

I need to shop! OR — I forgot to pack something real important!

The Yacht Club’s all-purpose store is The Market at Ale and Compass.   This store offers a small but comprehensive collection of clothing, character merchandise, and sundries.

Need your clothes cleaned?

If you need to wash your clothes during your stay at the Yacht Club, laundry facilities are located adjacent to the quiet pool area located on the far front side of the hotel, closer to the Swan/Dolphin hotels. Likewise there are laundry facilities at the quiet pool of the Beach Club.

If you need something dry cleaned or pressed, you’ll find a card detailing services and costs in your room upon check-in. An iron and ironing board are located in most guest rooms. If your room does not have these items, they can be obtained free of charge by contacting housekeeping.

Does the Yacht Club have a Convention Center?

Yes, the Yacht and Beach Clubs share a convention center that has 73,000 square feet of meeting and function space, that can accommodate both large and small events.

How do I use valet parking?

Simply drive your vehicle to the front of the resort and a Cast Member will park it for you. Valet parking is $33 per car for the day, even if you are staying at the Yacht Club. Don’t forget to tip the valet (both the one who takes your car and the one who brings it back to you – $1-2 is recommended) When you need to retrieve your vehicle, simply give the valet your slip of paper you were given when the car was parked, and your car will be delivered to the front of the hotel. When you are ready to get your car, call the valet stand from your room and ask for your car to be brought around. If you pay for valet at one Disney resort hotel, you can use valet at the other hotels – just tell them you are paying at the Yacht Club. The Disney resorts contract out valet services, so you are dealing with a 3rd party, not Disney employed cast members.

Does the Yacht Club have a Security Gate?

Yes, the Yacht Club complex has a guarded security gate. Upon initial arrival, simply explain to the guard you are checking in. Once you have checked in, your Magic Band will also serve to open the security gates (pull on the right side to activate the guest gate). Be sure to have your Magic Band ready when reentering through the security gate. During busy times ONLY Yacht Club resort guests may be allowed to enter the parking area.

Tips and Tricks: What else you should know about the Yacht Club:

Need a new ‘do, or just a haircut? Ship Shape Spa and Salon is located between the YC and BC, next to the health club, is the place to go. It is open 9 a.m.-7 p.m., daily. Services offered include: hair and nail services, massages and facials. Appointments are strongly recommended, call (407) WDW-SPAS or (407) 939-7727 to book.

Are you a couple on a romantic getaway? Ask for a room overlooking the wedding gazebo (a garden view room). If you’re lucky, from your balcony you’ll be able to hear and see a magical Disney wedding take place. Quite a romantic/reminiscent experience.

Plunk a few quarters in the slots at Lafferty Place Arcade where you’ll find a selection of exciting video games.

Parking – – there is a lot where you park your car. It’s a long walk from your room to the car, unless you want to pay for valet parking.

With twenty-two Disney Resort hotels to choose from when visiting the Walt Disney World Resort, you have quite a decision regarding accommodation. Disney hotels place you right in the heart of the magic. When you stay in Lake Buena Vista, you are guaranteed the Disney experience in every aspect of your Disney vacation. If you are considering staying in a Disney Deluxe Resort, you have the most hotels to choose from. Half of the Disney hotels fit the Deluxe Resort category, meaning you have eleven to choose from. Some Disney Resorts are Disney Vacation Club Resorts, while others have dedicated areas for Disney Vacation Club Members. The Disney Deluxe Resorts are: Grand Floridian Resort & Spa Contemporary Resort Polynesian Village Resort Beach Club Resort Yacht Club Resort BoardWalk Inn Riviera Resort Animal Kingdom Lodge Wilderness Lodge Saratoga Springs Old Key West But what if you’ve narrowed your choice of Disney hotel to two; Disney’s Contemporary Resort and Disney’s Riviera Resort? How do you possibly choose between the two? Let’s look at each Resort in more detail. We aim to identify the best of the two Walt Disney World hotels when considering different things. Each of the Deluxe Disney Resorts is uniquely themed. While they each have the general amenities you would expect in a Disney hotel, they emulate the theming perfectly. Therefore, staying in a Walt Disney World Resort hotel is an immersive experience. If you’re considering staying in a Disney hotel with a modern theme, clean lines, and sophistication, you should decide between Disney’s Contemporary Resort and Disney’s Riviera Resort. Disney’s Contemporary Resort is an original hotel of the Walt Disney World Resort. The Deluxe Disney Resort opened to Guests on October 1, 1971, along with Magic Kingdom Park and Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. Disney’s Contemporary Resort is easily recognizable as the A-frame hotel, located to the right if you are facing Magic Kingdom Park. The ultra-modern Resort feels futuristic in some aspects, from the Disney Monorail passing through it to the incorporation of  The Incredibles  (2004) theming within the hotel. While Disney’s Contemporary Resort is amongst the oldest Disney hotels, Disney’s Riviera Resort is the newest Disney Resort hotel to have opened. Europe inspires the Disney Vacation Club Resort. You’ll see elegant marble finishes, white and grey colors, and charming features throughout Disney’s Riviera Resort. The Disney hotel is adorned with stunning art pieces inside and outside. Along the internal corridors and inside the lobby, you can admire giant canvases featuring favorite Disney characters and icons. Outside, you must admire the incredible mosaic art pieces that pay homage to  Tangled  (2010) and  Peter Pan  (1953). Disney’s Riviera Resort is the best for theming of the two Disney Resorts. While Disney’s Contemporary Resort has received improvements over the recent years, Disney’s Riviera Resort’s theme is clearly defined. It offers an elegant space to relax away from the Disney Parks and exudes charm and sophistication while feeling modern. Both Disney Deluxe Resorts have easy access to at least one Disney Park. Disney’s Contemporary Resort is one Disney Monorail stop away from Magic Kingdom Park. Therefore, it is ideal for Guests who plan on spending most of their Disney vacation in the Disney theme park. Being close to Magic Kingdom will make it easier for you to enjoy Early Theme Park Entry and Extended Evening Hours offered to you as a Deluxe Disney Resort Guest. Additionally, you can use the Disney Monorail to travel to EPCOT . However, Disney’s Contemporary Resort’s location means you will have a longer bus journey to get to Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Meanwhile, Disney’s Riviera Resort is just a Disney Skyliner ride away from two Disney Parks. EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios are near the Walt Disney World Resort hotel. It is also centrally located in Lake Buena Vista. Therefore, you can expect a short bus ride to Disney Springs, Magic Kingdom Park, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom as a Guest of Disney’s Riviera Resort. Due to its central location and easy access to multiple Disney Parks, Disney’s Riviera Resort is our preferred Disney hotel compared to Disney’s Contemporary Resort. Transportation Most of the Disney Deluxe Resorts have access to at least two modes of Disney transport. While you will need to use the bus to travel between some parts of the Walt Disney World Resort, having access to another transport mode can help reduce your wait times at transport stations. The Disney Monorail runs through Disney’s Contemporary Resort. While the Express Monorail only passes through the Disney hotel, the Resort Monorail stops. When exiting Magic Kingdom Park, Guests of Disney’s Contemporary Resort only have to ride the Disney Monorail for one stop. As a Guest of the Disney hotel, you also have walking access to Magic Kingdom Park, which can be beneficial in the morning when taking advantage of Early Theme Park Entry. Access to the Disney Monorail also makes it easy for Guests of Disney’s Contemporary Resort to travel to EPCOT. You can change from the Resort Monorail line to the EPCOT line at the Transportation & Ticket Center . All other areas of the Walt Disney World Resort are accessed by the Disney Buses from Disney’s Contemporary Resort. In contrast, Disney’s Riviera Resort has access to the Disney Skyliner, making access to Disney’s Hollywood Studios and EPCOT easy. Guests traveling to EPCOT from the Disney Resort hotel will travel to EPCOT International Gateway. Guests traveling to Disney’s Hollywood Studios from Disney’s Riviera Resort will travel to the Disney Park via Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort. You must change lines on the Disney Skyliner as part of your journey. All other areas of the Walt Disney World Resort are accessed by the Disney Buses from Disney’s Riviera Resort. We love to ride on the Disney Skyliner and the Disney Monorail when visiting Lake Buena Vista. As such, choosing between Disney’s Riviera Resort and Disney’s Contemporary Resort is difficult. Our verdict links to the location and the transport, so our preference is Disney’s Riviera Resort. The Disney Skyliner makes it easy to travel between two Disney Parks. Additionally, you can expect a short bus ride to all other areas of the Walt Disney World Resort from Disney’s Riviera Resort. Guest Rooms As a Disney Deluxe Resort, Guest rooms in Disney’s Riviera and Disney’s Contemporary Resorts are spacious, with luxury elements, including a balcony.  Disney’s Contemporary Resort offers modern Guest rooms with stunning views. If you choose to stay in the Main Tower, you can have a theme park view over Magic Kingdom Park or a water view over Bay Lake. If you’d prefer to stay in a Garden Room, you can choose from a water or Resort view.  The Incredibles  inspire all Guest rooms within Disney’s Contemporary Resort. You can expect white, orange, and grey colors throughout the design. For a more luxurious experience, Club Level is available at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. The Atrium Club offers beverages and snacks to Club Level Guests throughout their stay. Bay Lake Tower is part of Disney’s Contemporary Resort. It’s also a Disney Vacation Club Villa Resort. Therefore, staying in Disney’s Contemporary Resort allows you to stay in a Deluxe Studio or Villa. Should you choose to stay in Bay Lake Tower, you will have access to your own kitchenette in a Deluxe Studio or a full kitchen in a Deluxe Villa. You can also enjoy more living space in Disney Vacation Club accommodations. Disney’s Riviera Resort is a Disney Vacation Club Resort. Therefore, standard Guest rooms are not available in the Disney hotel. However, Disney’s Riviera Resort guarantees you at least a Deluxe Studio. Deluxe Villas are also available to stay in, and a different room type known as a Tower Studio. Tower Studios offer smaller living spaces with the same amenities as all other Deluxe Studios. Pull down the bed in the evening, then push it up during the day to enjoy the living space. Guest rooms at Disney’s Riviera Resort are elegant and sophisticated, yet modern, like the rest of the Disney hotel. While we prefer the design of the rooms at Disney’s Riviera Resort, the variety of Guest rooms available at Disney’s Contemporary Resort makes the Disney Resort more attractive. However, we’d struggle to stay in a room other than one with a theme park view at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. Who wouldn’t welcome the opportunity to watch Happily Ever After from their balcony every evening of their Disney vacation? Quick-Service Restaurants Disney’s Contemporary Resort has four quick-service restaurants. Contempo Cafe is the main quick-service restaurant from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily. You can enjoy various meals, snacks, and beverages, with a view of the Disney Monorail from the Disney restaurant. The Sand Bar, Cove Bar, and Contemporary Grounds are also quick-service restaurants around the Disney Resort hotel. Each restaurant has hot and cold beverages, snacks, and a small selection of meals. The use of the Disney Monorail makes it easy for Guests of Disney’s Contemporary Resort to access many other quick-service restaurants. Visiting Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort and Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa means you have many choices when wanting to eat something quick. You can also use the Disney watercraft to travel to Disney’s Wilderness Lodge and Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort from Disney’s Contemporary Resort. Disney’s Riviera Resort has three quick-service restaurants. Primo Piatto is where you will have the most choice regarding beverages, snacks, and meals. The quick-service restaurant is open daily from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. You’ll want to visit Le Petit Cafe for your morning pastry or late-night coffee. Enjoy a selection of snacks and beverages inspired by France here. When you need to rehydrate or refuel by the pool, you’ll want to visit Bar Riva. Bar Riva is open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily. Disney’s Riviera Resort Guests have access to more restaurants than those at the Disney Resort hotel. Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, a Disney Moderate Resort, is a short walk from Disney’s Riviera Resort and offers additional dining places. Similarly, the Disney Skyliner travels to Disney’s Pop Century Resort and Disney’s Art of Animation Resort (both are a Disney Value Resort), providing additional quick-service restaurants to dine at. Furthermore, the Disney Skyliner takes Guests from Disney’s Riviera Resort to EPCOT International Gateway. Just a short walk from the Disney Skyliner station is Disney’s BoardWalk and Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts. Therefore, there is ample choice of quick-service dining locations that Guests of Disney’s Riviera Resort can easily reach. While there is excellent access to quick-service restaurants from both Disney Resorts, we love the variety available within a short distance from Disney’s Riviera Resort. Therefore, we choose the Disney hotel over Disney’s Contemporary Resort. Full-Service Restaurants Regarding full-service restaurants, Disney’s Riviera Resort has access to one. Topolino’s Terrace – Flavors of the Riviera is one of the most sought-after advanced dining reservations to secure a Disney vacation. Therefore, as a Guest of Disney’s Riviera Resort, you have an excellent restaurant on your doorstep. Meanwhile, Disney’s Contemporary Resort has three full-service restaurants to dine at: California Grill – a fine dining experience located at the top of the Disney Resort hotel, offering stunning views over Magic Kingdom Park and the surrounding area. Steakhouse 71 – dine at a casual steakhouse for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Chef Mickey’s – a Disney character dining experience where you can enjoy an all-you-care-to-enjoy breakfast or dinner. Pool Areas: There are three pool areas to enjoy when you are a Guest of Disney’s Contemporary Resort. The main feature pool is located at the rear of the Disney Resort hotel, where you will also find a water slide and play area. Overlooking Bay Lake, there is another smaller pool to relax at. Behind Bay Lake Tower is the Bay Cove Pool, located next to the Cove Bar. Bayside cabanas are available to rent daily if you want to relax by the pool in style. As a Guest of Disney’s Riviera Resort, you can access two luxurious pool areas that overlook Barefoot Bay. Enjoy family fun at the Riviera Pool. Poolside activities occur daily here, and you can have fun using the water slide. Smaller Guests can enjoy the S’il Vous Play water play area. Well, in this Disney Riviera resort vs Beach Club comparison review, I’m going to cover everything that these two great resort hotels have to offer, including pricing, amenities, transportation, restaurants and more! So let’s begin with the great Disney Beach Club Resort . Disney’s Beach Club Resort Disney’s Beach Club Resort is a luxury, Four-Diamond Award-Winning resort that opened November 1990 on Disney World property. Disney’s Beach Club is known for its luxurious sand-bottom pools, and its beautiful Newport Beach Cottage theme. Key reasons to choose the Disney Beach Club include: its proximity to the BoardWalk and Epcot, its gorgeous landscaping, and its high-quality seafood restaurants.  The theme of the Beach Club Resort is, well, “beachy.” The New England Style architecture, colors, and decor are designed to look like a Newport Beach cottage. The resort boasts gorgeous blue and green buildings, white sand beaches, a pool to top all Disney World pools, and seafood restaurants galore.  Neither Disney’s Beach Club nor Disney’s Riviera Resort are known for their cost-effectiveness. Both of these hotels are quite pricey in exchange for their fancy experience. Rooms at Disney’s Beach Club resort typically range from a low of $504 /night in a standard room during low season, to $991/night for a deluxe room during peak season. Summer prices typically vary from $600 to $800 per night. Beach Club Villas typically start at around $1000/night, and are only available to DVC members. Keep in mind that prices are always subject to change and, due to inflation, will inevitably increase a bit over time. The steep price to stay at Disney’s Beach Club Resort is justified by the incredible amenities at recreational activities available at this luxury hotel. For starters, the Beach Club boasts what we consider to be the best pool in all of Walt Disney World Florida. The pool and waterside paraphernalia spans a whopping three acres, and includes a life-size shipwreck that gives way to a waterslide, a lazy river, three whirlpool spas, and a sand pool ideal for little kids.  Next to the pool sits a classic 1950s-style diner adorably named Beaches and Cream . Whether you stop by for a burger and a shake, or you crave a poolside sundae, this ice cream parlor is an essential part of your poolside adventure.  If miniature golf is your thing, the Beach Club is the right place for you. Their on-site 5-hole fantasia-themed course is perfect for both kids and adults. There are many hotel activities designed for kids including resort campfires for roasting s’mores, outdoor movie showings , and a Pirate Adventure Cruise where they can search for hidden treasure. There’s also an arcade next to the pool! Adult guests can take advantage of the motorized boat rental opportunities, fishing excursions, sand volleyball courts , and beachside jogging trails . If fitness is your thing, the Beach Club is also home to Ship Shape , a 24-hour on-site gym with a neighboring spa. Transportation Options Disney’s Beach Club offers bus transportation to all of the Disney World parks, waterparks and to Disney Springs. The Beach Club is unique in that it is situated within walking-distance of Epcot and Epcot’s Skyliner transportation station. The Beach Club is also one of few resorts that offer boat transportation through Disney’s Friend Ships . Ease of getting to and from the parks The Beach Club Resort is most convenient for its easy access to Epcot, which is a short walk from the back of the resort. Hollywood Studios is technically also walkable, if you prefer very long walks, but we recommend taking a boat to that park. Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom are reachable by bus, and so are both of the waterparks and Disney Springs.  Disney’s Beach Club Restaurants Disney’s Beach Club resort is home to a few casual dining options, a handful of lounges, and some fine-dining restaurants. Most notable is Cape May Cafe , a breakfast buffet in the morning and seasonal surf and turf restaurant in the evening that frequently hosts character dining opportunities. Cape May Cafe Located in the lobby of the Beach Club Resort, Cape May Cafe is the perfect place for a family-style breakfast, or a surf and turf dinner featuring fresh mussels, shrimp, crab legs, lobster, and slow-roasted strip loin. If you’re a seafood fanatic, this casual dining option is a great dinner choice for you. Beaches and Cream This poolside diner is the perfect place to pick up a sundae or stay for a grilled cheese and a strawberry shake. Available for lunch and dinner, this ice cream parlor is known for their onion rings, and their kitchen sink sundae, which comes in a sink-shaped souvenir cup and serves four. Beach Club Marketplace If you’re in need of a quick grab-and-go snack or an easy quick-service meal, stop by the Beach Club Marketplace . This serves as a kind of mini grocery store for the hotel, equipped with the essentials and some simple snacks. We recommend anything from their breakfast menu, and their brisket mac and cheese. Martha’s Vineyard This New England beach house themed lounge is known for their wine and cheese, but they also have imported draft beers, a cocktail menu, and a handful of hearty appetizers. Try their New England clam chowder, loaded potato barrels, and artisan cheese plate with your favorite beverage. Hurricane Hannah’s Waterside Bar and Grill If you get hungry during your pool day, don’t fret! Hurricane Hannah’s is here to satiate your snacky needs. Relax by the lazy river with some onion rings, chicken tenders, and a cocktail. Whether you need a pina colada or a blueberry lemonade, there are plenty of beverages for adults and kids alike.  Ale & Compass Restaurant and Lounge This nautical themed lounge is where you should stop if you crave a flatbread pizza and a mojito. Kids can enjoy strawberry, lime, and grapefruit “no-jito” drinks, and parents can sample from the large selection of wines.  Yachtsman Steakhouse For a fancy dinner in a New England style steakhouse, check out the Yachtsman Steakhouse . This restaurant is technically located in Disney’s Yacht Club resort, but because it borders the Beach Club, Disney includes it in their Beach Club restaurant list. Here you and your family can enjoy a delicious steak or lobster meal with some French onion soup, and a savory side of truffle mac and cheese.  Disney’s Riviera Resort To continue our review of Disney’s Riviera Resort vs Beach Club resort, we now need to spill the details on Disney’s Riviera Resort , a modern European themed DVC-exclusive hotel that opened in December 2019. Disney’s Riviera Resort is known for its access to Disney’s skyliner , the newest mode of Disney transportation inspired by Walt Disney himself. The Riviera is also home to some of the biggest, most accommodating hotel rooms on Disney property. If you’re looking for a high-end, quiet, modern Disney resort, the Riviera is for you. The Riviera resort is designed to look like a classy European hotel, filled with modern amenities. The exterior is meticulously designed, with well-kept gardens, and a custom-made Tangled mosaic mural . The interior is the definition of class, with white marble-esque flooring, countless custom Disney paintings, and a French-style coffee shop right in the lobby.  Rooms at the Riviera range from $400 a night, all the way up to $4500 a night. Pricing at the Riviera varies so greatly because of the vast diversity of rooms to choose from. At the Riviera, you can save some cash by staying in a cozy tower studio, or you can splurge on a three-bedroom complete with a full kitchen and living room. All rooms at the Riviera can be purchased with DVC points , which could save you some money if you choose to go in the low season and pay with some saved-up points. Disney’s Riviera Resort is a relatively quiet hotel that lacks many of the amenities of Disney’s larger resorts. But the Riviera still includes multiple pools and a splash pad. There are also various spaces for lawn games, and large poolside beds for relaxing outdoors. The Riviera also has one of the biggest and nicest gyms on Disney property, so if fitness is your niche, the Riviera is worth considering.  The Riviera is known for its access to the Skyliner transportation, which can take guests to Epcot and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. For access to the other parks, water parks, and Disney Springs, the Riviera also has a bus system similar to those at all other Disney resorts. It’s worth noting that while the Skyliner is cool, new, and convenient, it can’t run in the rain! So during Florida’s rainy season, the Riviera’s bus system gets a lot more use. As far as we know, the Riviera isn’t within walking distance of any of the Disney parks, but the Skyliner means that transportation from the Riviera to Epcot and Hollywood Studios is quick and easy. Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom require bus transportation, but you could also take the Skyliner to Epcot and then take a monorail to the Magic Kingdom. Disney’s Riviera Resort Dining The Riviera Resort is home to only four restaurants, but what it lacks in size it makes up for in quality. Each and every one of the Riviera’s restaurants is worth stopping by! the Riviera is known for their fine dining restaurant Topolino’s Terrace , a fancy French and Italian restaurant located at the top of the Riviera Resort. Topolino’s Terrace is known for their stunning filet mignon, and their decadent creme brulee. They also offer character dining opportunities! Topolino’s Terrace As we mentioned, Topolino’s Terrace is the star of the show at Disney’s Riviera resort. Inspired by Europe’s cliffside restaurants, Topolino’s Terrace is as visually stunning as it is delicious. Whether you’re stopping by for a breakfast quiche, or staying for escargot and rigatoni, Topolino’s Terrace is sure to please your taste buds. They also offer character dining opportunities! But pack something other than your park clothes- Topolino’s is one of very few restaurants in Walt Disney World that has a dress code. Le Petit Cafe This is the coffee shop we referenced earlier that is conveniently located right in the lobby of the resort. Le Petit Cafe is open all day so you can get your coffee fix before or after the parks, and they also offer a plethora of delicious pastries to choose from. In the evening, Le Petit Cafe also serves alcoholic beverages and small plates inspired by Paris. If you’re in need of a snack, we recommend the charcuterie board and the almond cold brew with honey-almond whipped cream. Bar Riva is the poolside bar where you can treat yourself to a spicy Italian sandwich, a Greek salad, or a Riva margarita. The bar also includes their fair share of kids cocktails so they can experience this poolside luxury as well. Primo Piatto Last on the list of restaurants at the Riviera is Primo Piatto , a quick-service restaurant that offers convenient grab-and-go options. Enjoy a croque madame or blueberry lemon pancakes for breakfast, or grab a chocolate croissant before you hit the parks. Primo Piatto is open all day, so if you need a lunch or dinner break, you’re welcome to try your choice of pizzas, hot and cold sandwiches, or an artisanal cheese plate.  How They Compare Overall, both the Beach Club and the Riviera resorts are noteworthy hotel options for you and your family if you plan on taking a trip to Walt Disney World in Florida. However, which of these resorts you choose heavily depends on what you’re looking for in your Disney hotel. While the Beach Club is bigger, the Riviera is newer and more modern. The Beach Club is a classic Walt Disney World Resort, but the Riviera is fancy and exclusive to DVC members.  Other differences between the Beach Club and the Riviera are their highlights. The Beach Club is known for its pool, but the Riviera is known for its restaurant, Topolino’s Terrace. In terms of transportation, the Riviera has on-site access to the Skyliner transportation, but the Beach Club has access to the Friend Ship boat transportation. Both hotels are good options for DVC members because both hotels cater to DVC members, but only the Beach Club caters to non-DVC members and Disney newbies.  Selecting the Best Disney Hotel Overall Below, check out some of the best Disney World Resort hotels (especially ones that are deemed more high end), and see how they all compare and contrast to both Disney’s Beach Club, as well as the Riviera Resort. One of our personal favorites, Disney’s Beach Club Resort is a vintage-beach-themed resort and hotel that includes exclusive villas for DVC guests. The Beach Club makes our top 5 list for it’s iconic theming, its beautiful sand-bottom pool, and its classy seafood restaurants. We recommend choosing this hotel if you are a DVC member, you or your kids love spending time at the pool, and or you love delicious seafood buffets. The Beach Club is also ideal for guests that love visiting Epcot because it’s located right in Epcot’s backyard.  Disney’s BoardWalk Very close in both theme and proximity to Disney’s Beach Club, Disney’s BoardWalk Resort is another one of our favorites. Disney’s BoardWalk is located, well, right on the BoardWalk! Known for its easy access to restaurants, bakeries, and nightlife events, the BoardWalk is a great hotel if you and your family enjoy spending time out on the boardwalk plaza eating fresh churros and watching street performers. The BoardWalk Hotel also offers easy access to Disney’s Friend Ship boats, which you can take to many of the Walt Disney World resorts and parks. Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort If the Magic Kingdom is your favorite park, and Moana is your favorite Disney princess, Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort was practically made for you. Known for its plant-filled lobby, water bungalow villas, proximity to the Magic Kingdom, and Polynesian-themed restaurants, Disney’s Polynessian Village is one of our favorite hotels in all of Walt Disney World.  The theming is absolutely exquisite, with jungle plants and wooden decor galore, and the poolside snack bar even offers our favorite cold treat: Dole Whip . This alone would be reason enough for us to book a room. The Polynesian Village Resort is a quick monorail trip to Disney’s Magic Kingdom, with hotel room views of the Magic Kingdom Fireworks shows . The Polynesian is also home to some of the most popular restaurants on Walt Disney World property, including Kona Cafe .   Last but not least, Disney’s DVC members are treated to what’s possibly the coolest Disney villas to date- Bungalows that sit on the water across the lake from the Magic Kingdom. If any of this sounds like your dream destination, the Polynesian Resort Village is the right Disney Resort for you. Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort Next on our list is the beautiful Spanish-inspired Coronado Springs Resort, the hotel home to Toledo- Tapas, Steak & Seafood restaurant , recently remodeled luxury hotel rooms , and a pool with a pyramid waterfall . This hotel may have the most reasonable room rates of the hotels on our list, and it’s a huge resort that boasts a plethora of activities for kids and adults alike. Take advantage of Coronado Springs’ scenic jogging trail, sand volleyball courts, and outdoor movie theater with regular Disney Under The Stars movie events. We prefer Disney’s Coronado Springs for the fun pool and delicious food options, and the welcoming atmosphere. Last on our top 5 list is Disney’s Riviera Resort, which is currently Disney’s newest resort addition. This European-inspired hotel getaway is known for Topolino’s Terrace , the famous Italian and French fine-dining experience mentioned in so many Disney food blogs . The Riviera resort is also known for its use of the Skyliner as its primary mode of park transportation. Disney’s Riviera Resort is exclusive to DVC members, which makes it an ideal vacation destination for veteran Disney-goers. Which Resort Should You Choose? Given all of this information, how do you know which hotel is the best fit for you? We tried to narrow it down to make it easier to pick and choose.  Choos ing The Beach Club If you enjoy seafood, night life on the boardwalk, and spending time by the pool, choose the Beach Club. Choose the Beach Club if Epcot is your favorite park, and if you have younger children.  Choosing The Riviera If you’re a veteran Disney-goer and a DVC member, choose the Riviera. Choose the Riviera if you prefer a quieter, classier, more exclusive hotel. Choose the Riviera if you like working out, if you prioritize fine dining, and if you love riding the Skyliner. Nov 6, 2020 Trying to decide for January between these two. I've never stayed in either, and both look awesome! YC is $316.64 less than Riv. Solo adult, and I'm not a huge pool person, so SAB isn't really a factor. I'm not the biggest fan of the Skyliner, but it's not a dealbreaker - I also live in NYC so walking is no big deal either. Planned parks are 1/7 - AK 1/8 - Epcot 1/9 - MK 1/10 - AK 1/11 - Studios...this is my departure day and in a way walking would be easier for me to stay a bit longer to not worry about getting stuck on the Skyliner... But I'm torn. WWYD?   DIS Veteran Def YC, based on price and walking to HS on the last day. The bussing will be the same. YC is close to a lot more options, so depending on what is open dining might be a lot better between YC/BC/BW/Swan/Dolphin Also, if AK continues to close ridiculously early, and park hoppers come back (big ifs), it would be a really neat option to go to Epcot at the end of the day and walk back to YC.   YC. Good adult vibe. Nice walk around crescent lake. Many and varied food options. Relaxing. Walking to HS is golden.   I'm typically an adults-only traveler, and you're choosing between two of my very favorite resorts, so I don't think you can go wrong either way! I would probably lean slightly toward Yacht if you're a walker. You have access to lots of resorts/restaurants/bars/lounges around you, walking access to two of the parks you're going to, and you can still check out the Skyliner if you choose. Plus, you save $300. Having said that, go give Riviera a peek if you have some extra time. Yacht has historically been our favorite, and may still be our favorite for sentimental reasons, but those Riviera rooms are pretty incredible!   Given that HS is your departure day, I’d go with YC, even though RIV resort is top of my list. I have not stayed, visited and the food and atmosphere was so much better than being at BCV..which isn’t YC. We have even camped with our RV at the Fort and we used to stay at what is now SOG before it became strictly military. I love the feel of YC, Epcot and HS are our favorite parks and being able to walk to both is great. We visited Riv last year to have dinner and while it was nice and I would like to explore it a little more, I'd still stay at YC and $300 less.   Thanks all! I made the switch! The one advantage that Riviera has over Yacht Club is that it is a DVC resort and all rooms have a kitchen with at least refrigerator, microwave, toaster and coffee maker which is very useful for breakfast. Best and Worst of Disney's Riviera Resort It made me decide to pick Yacht Club or Animal Kingdom for my trip this summer with my 3 middle- and high-school kids rather than the Riviera (even thought I desired the Skyliner) because we definitely want a pool day and the Riviera pool just didn't look that enticing.
